Argumentative Essay On Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence is a topic within the public media that has existed for decades, but is now a
concern due to the reality of human advancement and innovation in the field of science and
technology. Many people believe that computers will become self aware or sentient and view
humanity as a disposable resource and gain supremacy. Reasoning that research on the technology
should halt and not become more advance. Whereas others believe they will help catapult research and
the economy forward, supporting the operations and innovations the technology offers. The
complicated and divided solutions to the debate aren t obvious, but there are more benefits to
improving artificial intelligence than there is stopping it. Therefore, the negative effects people believe
will occur can be resolved. There are different types of artificial intelligence that many institutes and
companies believe in. However, they all share the same belief of a self aware, conscious, human like,
computer system, the type of AI people fear. Disregarding that an AI is a computer much like a phone
or laptop, one must consider that if something is sentient like a person or animal, should they be
treated like one? And if not, is it discrimination or racism when it is treated like an item? Slavery
treated people based on race or social status differently, the bottom being slaves. Some might argue
that machines don t have a soul or aren t alive. There are hundreds of questions and ideas that have no

Cross Cultural Beliefs About Afterlife
Cross Cultural Beliefs about The Afterlife.
Seminar in Individual Differences and Personality
Abstract
A study of American undergraduates indicated that the beliefs about the nature of life after death were
quite complicated. A 41 item questionnaire produced 12 independent groups of beliefs. Belief in an
internal locus of control and that one s life is owned by God were associated with a more positive
view of the afterlife, as was being Roman Catholic rather than Protestant. The most common beliefs
were that one is reunited with family and friends, that the afterlife is comforting, that there is Heaven
and that the transition is peaceful, all believed by more than 90 percent of the students. ... Show more

In this method twelve factors were identified about beliefs about afterlife. Three of the major factors
were that 12.1 percent believe in Heave and Hell. 7.9 percent believe in reincarnation and 6.6 percent
believed that there ate material objects and sexual desire in the after life. The gender differences that
were found are that men are not less likely to believe in afterlife but they were less likely to believe in
Heaven, reuniting with loved ones, communication with the living and request for forgiveness before
death. Men were more likely the women to believe that there are material objects, that spirits have
human form, that there is pain, hunger, thirst and that rituals carried out after death are important. The
religious differences they found were that Protestant students were less likely to believe in life after
death then Roman Catholic students. On the other hand, Protestant students were more likely to
believe that there is Hell and that forgiveness needs to be requested to get into Heaven. One of the
strengths that this article has is that they provided a broad hypothesis. It was not specific and that gave
them more room to play around with how they want to test the beliefs on life after death. They
basically just wanted to explore from what was found in previous search on the afterlife and find more
detailed data. Another strengths in this article were the specific questions that the participants were
asked about their beliefs in the afterlife. The

How My Group Members And I Worked Together
This final paper will explain how my group members and I worked together. This ties into the final
project for this class. My paper will show how I related to all the myths within a culture and tie them
to the real world. Below I will explain how everything turned out and how we came up with out topic
for the final project. I think as of now the level of engagement my partners have participated in is very
low. We decided we wanted to focus on the Greek culture on April twenty fourth. I contacted them and
asked how we wanted to split the work up or even start and I had no responses. Finally at nine on
Saturday night one of my group members messaged a link to Google Documents, with only one slide
started. I started working on the Google PowerPoint at eleven at night and woke up this morning to
see nothing had been added. I went back on around eleven this morning and added new work. A little
update to this situation it is now six, nothing has been added, but my work and I have had zero contact
with my group. So I will say my group had little engagement in this project, one member did make the
Google document, but nothing has been started. I think I learned a lot about my teamwork skills. I am
such a perfectionist and like to get things done early. Working with a group makes it challenging,
because people had different time schedules. I think I learned that I am someone who engages with a
project more often than my group, because I want to get my work done. My goal for this

Urban Regeneration in the London Docklands Essay
Urban Regeneration in the London Docklands
The London Docklands Development Corporation is located along the River Thames Estuary
2.a) The London Docklands had to close for many reasons. The main reason was the Second World
War. The area suffered substantial bomb damage in the Second World War, which lead to the need for
a substantial rebuilding programme. In the first 20 years after the Second World War, many buildings
came to the end of their usefulness. A number of factors contributed to the decline in the importance of
the Docklands. London was no longer the centre of world trade and so much of the dock space and
warehousing was no longer needed. Some manufacturing activities were ... Show more content on

These responsibilities included the reclamation of land, the provision of transport infrastructure,
environmental improvement and the attraction of private sector investment. The LDDC acquired land
and promoted transport development in the form of the Docklands Light Railway and London City
Airport to attract development and fill up the Isle of Dogs. The LDDC had four aims that they wanted
to achieve in the Docklands. They were basically to improve the economic, social and physical aspects
of the area. To improve the economic aspect of the area, they had to create jobs for the unemployed
who were living in the Docklands. To do this, they had to bring in major companies. The LDDC
decided to provide a good infrastructure to the area. They provided the gas, electric and roads.
Transport was a main problem, so £600 million was spent on transport, and another £300 million on
just the Docklands Railway.
3. a) Many office buildings were built, including Canary Wharf. Large newspaper companies were
attracted to the Docklands, away from Fleet Street because of the new Canary Wharf building. This is
one of the tallest buildings in England, at 800ft high and boasting 50 stories. Companies were
attracted to Canary Wharf because of the quality of it with air conditioning, deep floors, and open
office space. Building space in London was short and expensive.

Pablo Picasso Influences
Pablo Picasso once stated, Colors, like features, follow the changes of emotions. This quote explains
how Picasso s work changed over the course of his life. Picasso had several art periods in which
anyone is able to see the change of both colors and emotions in his works. For example, Picasso s
Blue period showed his melancholic emotions through blue tones, while during his Rose period he
used brighter red and pink tones showing his more happy emotions. Pablo Picasso s works expressed
his emotions and depicted events throughout his life. Picasso s artwork greatly influenced many
people during his lifetime and he became even more influential and revered for his artwork after his
death.

Picasso himself even said, I started painting in blue when I learned of Casagemas death. Another
factor to the start of his blue period could have been the death of his younger sister Conchita.
Although she had died in 1895 when he was 14 it is possible that the death of his good friend
Casagemas brought to the surface his unresolved feelings regarding the death of his sister during his
youth. Many of Picasso s paintings depicted a single subject with a plain background with dark blue
and grey tones during this time. His first painting, a Child with a Dove, features those blue and grey
somber tones. The painting features a child dressed in white holding a dove to its chest with a colorful
ball sitting on the floor. The child is standing in an empty room blue walls and a green floor. The
picture Picasso painted could have been a depiction of his younger sister. The child in the picture is
dressed in white which could symbolize the innocence the child had and the dove could symbolize
peace that they received. The empty room could symbolize Picasso s feelings about her death. The
blue and grey colored walls could be explaining that his thoughts surrounding his sister may be
sorrowful but he knows that she is at peace. These types sad paintings lasted until 1904 which was the
year that ended the blue

Social Networking Social networking has been around for years whether it s facebook, twitter,
youtube, myspace, etc. It has been studied since the beginning of the 20th century. A social network
service is a web site that allows people to create a public profile for everyone to see. There are both
positive and negative effects of social networking. Facebook is the most used and populated website
on the web. Facebook was launched seven years ago and has already attracted over a half a billion
people around the world and it still continues to grow. Three years ago facebook wasn t as a popular as
it is now with only 8 % of the U.S. population signed on to facebook. Today, more than ... Show more

However, there are also some negative aspects of social networking. Some people tend to get cyber
bullied on the internet. A child or teen usually gets tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated,
embarrassed, or targeted by another child or teen using the internet or even on mobile phones. Some
people commit suicide because of the mean things that people say to them. For this to not happen the
best thing to do is delete the account and stay offline for a while until the stalkers have gotten tired of
the whole thing. However, you should report it to the police before doing this. It can also lead into
depression. Some people tend to make fun of others such as calling them ugly or fat. This may tend to
make that person emotional and depressed and may lower their self esteem. Although their self esteem
is already low this can lead them to committing suicide. Teens like their own privacy no matter what it
is they re doing. Sometimes they just need to be left alone. That s another thing about cyber bullying.
Some strangers invade on others privacy. Some strangers may want to help teens with the problems
they are facing, but if you can t help them at least do not harm them. There are many ways for people
to communicate such as, chat, messaging, email, video, voice, file

John Rohr views on Democratic Morality and the Administrative Law and how these laws affect the
organizations. Democratic Morality deals with the issue that large organizations will have more
control or influence on the development of policy. The Administrative law is concern with the legal
aspect of the organization and the fairness across the board. The author examines the administrative
law of democratic morality between the periods of 1800s and 1900s, with emphasis on the how
democratic morality was used to bring about changes in the organizations. The author point is that

the public. Rohr views the Supreme Court cases that have brought about changes in the laws and the
administrative agencies as combined powers for rule making and investigation as a regime in the
constitution. Some basic functions that are used for administrative law are to enable effective
administration and to promote respect for all people, government or non government. The author feels
that the importance of administrative discretion is to help regulate the policies that have been
implemented by administrative law. The managers that make these policies on behalf of the agency
enjoy a wide range of discretion when participating in an agency s decision making process. The
questions ask, the complaints made, the decisions postponed, the responsibilities avoided. These forms
of behavior are discretionary to help enhance and enliven the administrative process that promotes the

Pre Modern Era Research Paper
The pre modern era was a time when populations believed largely in God or god(s) and the influence
of the supernatural in human and cosmic activities. It was an era dominated by belief and before
scientific methods were discovered to find truth. The truths of god were majorly communicated orally,
which made it hard to filter falsehood from realities. In the pre modern era, people didn t have answers
on to why the universe happened and events happening, they needed an explanation and over time oral
communication grew expanding the knowledge of god(s) . In pre modern I do not feel as though there
was a major catalyst inclusive to this period, but the gradual transition into humans inventing tools and

of Hungarian Jewish decent, and her mother was Spanish and Native American. From an early age

polio, this left her right leg to appear much thinner than the other, as well as leaving her with a limp.

Controversy ove the Patriot Act Essay
Still Free to Speak about the USA PATRIOT Act

Obstruct Terrorism (USA PATRIOT) act is a law essential to winning the War on Terrorism; for others,
this act is viewed with utmost contempt for its Orwellian nature allowing Big Brother to read your

sides citing legal and ethical reasons in support or in opposition to this controversial act. Hastily

Amendment; many neo conservatives maintain that the act is necessary to protect Americans from
future attacks of terrorism. Critics of the USA PATRIOT act are unified in their claim that the law is
unconstitutional. In the case Humanitarian Law Project v. John Ashcroft, U.S. District Judge Audrey
Collins handed down the first ruling against the USA PATRIOT act since its inception calling the ban
on providing expert advice or assistance impermissibly vague and in violation of the First and Fifth
Amendments. In another, more recent, ruling, U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero ruled that a key
component of the USA PATRIOT act, which allowed the FBI to demand information from Internet
service providers without public review or judicial oversight, violates free speech rights by imposing
permanent silence on targeted companies. Marrero wrote that democracy abhors undue secrecy (Doe

the law has caused a dramatic decline in memberships and donations of mosques and has forced a

“A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia- Marque
A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings :Gabriel Garcia Marquez story A Very Old Man with
Enormous Wings , written in 1955, is about a family harboring what is thought to be a fallen old angel
man , initially thought to be on his way to take their ailing child away. The angel must have been
coming for the child, but the poor fellow is so old that the rain knocked him down (Marquez, 1955).
The family not knowing how to treat the situation embarks on a journey of mixed emotions of whether
the man is good or evil, strange creature or angel. We will journey down the road of evaluation of the
magical realism within this story.

of the idea to build a fence and charge 5 cents admission to see it (Marquez, 1955, p. 3). The rest of
the world wanted to use the creature to help heal possible illnesses and that is selfish, many traveled
with the hopes to find health (Marquez, 1955, p. 3). I felt this was evil because they lacked the
creature up for the benefits of everyone not considering the creature s feelings. This how some of the
good and evil coexisted.
Angel or Not? This was at time hard to determine if the old man was an angel or a bird of some origin
I thought vulture at times, due to the description of buzzard like wings and that the he nestled in a nest
(Marquez, 1955). To further my thought of him being a bird, is that when they tried to feed him what
was thought the food of angels, mothballs, the man refused (Marquez, 1955). Nevertheless, if I had
not paid attention to the wording used I might have gone with the old man was a bird. However, the
story uses a lot of language to define divine beings. Like when Father Gonzaga had a providential end

intervention, similar to use of celestial meaning form the heavens or sky (TheFreeDictionary.com).

Religious Expression In Public Schools
For many years, schools have struggled to decide on whether to give students the freedom of religious
expression at school. This difficult topic is especially prevalent in many public schools today. Most
public schools comply with the separation of church and state by instating rules against any kind of
religious expression, essentially mandating conformity among students in terms of religious
expression. Some schools, however, have decided to place no restrictions on religious expression. This
serves to promote individual freedom among students. Even if it may seem that schools strongly differ
when it comes to religious expression, schools do have something in common pertaining to this issue.
They all believe that the unique decision they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After all, it is the school s job to educate our future generation so they are equipped for a world
containing a multitude of religious aspects even if doing so in an indirect manner. Providing students
the freedom to practice whichever religion they choose restricts feelings of pressure to withhold their
religious expression; something they would have to withhold in the name of conformity at some
public schools. As students become inevitably educated about religion through religious expression
around them, they steadily become less intolerant of other religions besides their own. The students
become accepting of the reality that we live in where many different religious beliefs exist among
people in all areas of life. This effect closely mirrors the attitude that these students will have towards
religion in the real world. Not only does exposure to religious expression benefit the students and the
school, but it furthermore benefits the world as a whole by moving the future generation away from
religious intolerance. This creates a world where people can be comfortable and sure in their religion
due to the lack of intolerance directed towards them. Currently, however, religiously motivated hate
crimes are on the rise. In 2004, about 10 percent of all hate crimes were religiously motivated−
compared to 28 percent today (Jackson 1). This is an example of religious intolerance in today s world
which can be remedied by educating the future generation about religion through allowing religious
expression at school. The religious tolerance that is subsequently developed among these students is
what this world so desperately

Baseball Has No Game Clock Essay
The batting team attempts to score runs by hitting a ball that is thrown by the pitcher with a bat swung
by the batter, then running counter clockwise around a series of four bases: first, second, third, and
home plate. A run is scored when a player advances around the bases and returns to home plate.
Players on the batting team take turns hitting against the pitcher of the fielding team, which tries to
prevent runs by getting hitters out in any of several ways. A player on the batting team who reaches a
base safely can later attempt to advance to subsequent bases during teammates turns batting, such as
on a hit or by other means. The teams switch between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team
records three outs. One turn batting for both teams, beginning with the visiting team, constitutes an
inning. A game is composed of nine innings, and the team with the greater number of runs at the end
of the game wins. Baseball has no game clock, although almost all games end in the ninth inning.
Baseball evolved from older bat and ball games already being played in England by the mid 18th
century. This game was brought by immigrants to North America, where the modern version
developed. By the late 19th century, baseball was widely recognized as the national sport of the
United States. Baseball is now popular in North America and parts of Central and South America, the
Caribbean, and East Asia.

A Report On The Environmental Crisis Of The Rainforest Fund
Our eco action was something a little different than the projects we happened to see from other
groups, our goal was to brew alcoholic cider in an attempt to provide less waste compared t the waste
put into bot producing and shipping and packaging various ciders. We believed through our brewing
process using local ingredients we would be able to provide cider that would lessen the environmental
impact that other ciders put into the world. As an extension of this idea, we wanted to make a vow to
buy our alcoholic beverages in bulk sizes whenever the opportunity was presented, and lessen the
amount we drank. This venture was more of a side project as we knew that the cider might turn out
horribly or we could make a potential mistake, along with this we would donate the money from our
cans to a cause that provides environmental stability in the Rainforest fund.
Firstly, the brewing process was one that Brayden was able to teach us, as e had previous experience
with brewing alcohol and also owned all the equipment necessary to bring our idea to reality. I would
say the amount of time spent brewing, and the challenges we faced were a little tiresome in my
opinion; however, it was a fun time and I would love to try again. I am saying try again as our project
didn t go as anticipated. A fatal flaw in our ingredients, the adding of brown sugar as primer, led to the
unfortunate demise of our cider with the untimely explosion of the bottle. This caused all our hard

Lost And Immerses s Wide Sargasso Sea
Lost and Entrapped in the Wide Sargasso Sea
Jean Rhys s Wide Sargasso Sea, written in 1966, is the deeper insight to one of the underlying
characters in Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre. In the novel, we experience the challenges one faces when
having a cultural background and we see the entrapment of characters leading to indignation and
hostility between the servants and their white employers. The enslavement and entrapment of
individuals form many of the relationships throughout Rhys s novel, not only between whites and
blacks, but between family as well. Rhys uses situational irony, symbolism, and foreshadowing to
show the underlying theme of how entrapping others can stimulate intense relationships between
characters.

When people feel entrapped like this, they use names and actions which create harsh relationships
between the different characters. Entrapment is a major feeling slaves feel during this time and the
feeling of entrapment is deeply rooted in the oppression of slavery. Along with the feeling of
entrapment through the oppression caused by slavery, symbolism and foreshadowing is used to help
show the deeper meaning of entrapment. Insects are used to represent entrapment of individuals, A
great many moths and beetles found their way into the room, flew into the candles, and fell dead on
the table cloth. (80) Rochester and Antoinette are in their room when they see the moth s continuous
actions. Even though the fire kills them, they fly into it anyways. Amélie continues to sweep up the
dead ones and then more continue to come. The thing that is killing the moths is what continues to
draw in and intrigue the moths to continue coming back. In the Wide Sargasso Sea, Antoinette keeps
going back to Rochester even though it kills the creole part inside of her, like a trap. The moths and
beetles symbolize the persistence of Antoinette, but also foolishness. Mr. Mason feels trapped, He
made an effort to fly down but his clipped wings failed him and he fell screeching. He was all on fire.

day at the convention I arrived at the hotel and I changed into a simple steampunk cosplay to attend a
meet and greet dinner with my favorite band. The band members visited each table individually to talk
to everyone. I was shy. My table was filled with older adults who had very little in common with me.
The second day was the day of the concert and the day I got to walk around the convention. I was in a
different cosplay than the night before. This outfit was from an anime series that would be highly
recognizable to other fans at the convention. When I was walking around the vendor hall, I heard two
girls shout my character s name. The two girls were looking at me and they ran and hugged me. They
were also dressed in cosplays from that same anime series. Each of the girls commented how much
they loved my cosplay. This made me extremely happy considering it was my first time cosplaying.
The three of us talked for a while, took some pictures, and eventually we parted ways, wandering
around the convention by ourselves. Later in the day I changed into a third

Negative Effects Of Imperialism On Colonized People
Despite having a predominantly negative effect on colonized populations, Imperialism improved the
lives of colonized people because it introduced innovations and inventions that helped to unify
conquered areas through easier means of communication and improved native economies by
increasing productivity. During the Age of Imperialism, most colonial powers had developed
technologies that the countries they colonized did not yet have access to. Industrial inventions like
crop rotation, telephone lines, the steamboat, the cotton gin and railroads allowed Imperialist powers
to produce and transport materials more efficiently than colonized countries could. When Imperialist
powers colonized other countries they were often motivated by However, when

The Identity Of Maxwell s Performance At The Verizon Center
In this paper, I will discuss the identity of Maxwell, derived from his performance at the Verizon
Center. Maxwell s performance represented his identity as a sensual male artist, whose appreciation
for women grew from his mother playing the role of both parents. Furthermore, I will discuss how
Maxwell s influencers have played a role in his development as a Neo Soul artist. First, I will give
background on the artist and the genre he belongs to. Next, I will provide background on the concert,
such as the venue. Then, I will discuss aspects of his performance that mainly embody Maxwell s

Maxwell suffered the loss of his father in a plane crash when he was just three years old, and after this
tragedy, he saw his mother become the backbone of the household. The experience made him a deeply
religious child, and he first began singing in his Baptist church in Brooklyn, where his grandmother
would take him every Sunday for church service. At age of 17 Maxwell became serious about music,
and the year was 1990 when he began writing his own songs using a cheap Casio keyboard given to
him by a friend. Maxwell was greatly influenced by early 80s R B artist such as Al Green, Marvin,
Gaye and Prince. While being compared to these artists who influenced him, Maxwell maintained his
own style of Neo Soul. Soon, his fan base rose rapidly, and by 1991, he was performing in New York
clubs holding up to the comparisons while paving his own path as one of the founding fathers of Neo
Soul R B. Maxwell often says he was a nerd in High School, and his classmates couldn t imagine the
shy, awkward teenager being a Neo Soul Pioneer (online video, YouTube, accessed November 2,

Essay On American Population
The American population is getting older which presents us with many challenges but also present us
with potential opportunities. With the length of life and quantity and fraction of older persons rise in
most industrialized and many evolving nations, a crucial question is whether this population will be
accompanied by continued or better quality health, an improving quality of life, and adequate social
and cost effective resources. This answer lies in the ability of peoples and societies, as well as modern
social, governmental, financial, and health service delivery systems, to provide optimum assistance to
older persons. The significant policy worries pertinent to health and long life are the impending

Compare And Contrast Qing And Ming Dynasty

Comparison Of Mountains Of Collioure By Andre Derain
What I initially noticed when looking at the landscape painting Mountains of Collioure(1908), by
Andre Derain was that the brushstroke is like of the impressionists, in which the strokes are short and
thin, as well as seldom use of the color black. It is also highly contrasted in color, with many hues of
various colors. I also notice that if it were painted by a kid it makes sense that the painting s colors
would not match the natural colors of the actual subject matter within the painting. The mountains are
off colored from the natural color using different tones and shades of orange and blue, while the trees
are somewhat natural, with the use of darkened orange, and intermediate hues such as blue

Two Theories Of Motivation
Motivation is one of the key ingredients in employee performance and productivity. Even when people
have clear work objectives, the right skills, and a supportive work environment, they would not get the
job done without sufficient motivation to achieve those work objectives (Mullins, 2006). Motivation
refers to the forces within a person that affect his or her direction, intensity and persistence of
voluntary behavior. He added that motivated employees are willing to exert a particular level of effort
(intensity), for a certain amount of time (persistence), toward a particular goal or direction.
2.2 Theories of Motivation
Motivation theory examines the process of motivation. According to Amstrong (2006), it explains why
people at work behave in the way they do in terms of their efforts and the directions they are taking. It
describes what organisations can do to encourage people to apply their efforts and abilities in ways
that will further the achievement of the organisation s goals as well as satisfying their own needs. It is
also concerned with job satisfaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of the five needs that are hierarchically organized; Alderfer proposed that basic human needs
may be grouped under three categories such as Existence, Relatedness, and Growth. The theory s

as hunger, thirst and safe condition. Relatedness on the other hand, refers to the motivation we have
for maintaining interpersonal relationships like involvement with family, friends, co workers and
employers. Finally, growth is the intrinsic desire for personal development for example, the desire to
be creative, productive and to complete meaningful tasks. The implication of this theory is that we

this is that the type of stone that was found in the area is what was usually used in making the house.
The country part of the island is mountainous with goats scaling anything they can get their hooves

Stephen Crane s War Is Kind
When someone thinks of war they do not think of sunsets and rainbows, they think of death and
destruction. The propaganda surrounding war however, tries to make civilians think war is an amazing
place. In Stephen Crane s poem, War Is Kind, Crane tells the horrors of war, but then says it is okay
because war is kind. Crane makes the reading think about how all this horrible things happen, but yet
the media still tries to say war is safe and the military is a great place to make money and travel the
world. The media does not tell you the consequences of war, just tries to sell you on the positives.
Glory is the thing most people wish to receive from the military, they think that because they chose to
serve their country they will feel immense glory and pride. In Crane s poem he wrote, These men who
were born to drill and die/ The unexpected glory flies above them/ Great is the battle god, great and

Removal of Indian Tribes in 1700
No, I do not agree that Georgia and the United States were justified in forcing the Indian tribes to
leave their homeland and move to the Oklahoma territory. I believe the Tribes were taken advantage of
and abused by the states whenever possible.
In 1971 the Cherokee tribe was in the process of making treaties with United States. The state of
Georgia recognized the Cherokee tribe as a nation allowing them to make their own laws and follow
their native customs. In the late 1700 s their land started to be invaded by the white man. The
Cherokee Indians began to move to Arkansas. (Historical Context) I believe the Indians were taken

During that time frame additional treaties (Treaty of Grouseland and Treaty of Vincennes) were

Streetcar Named Desire Essay
A streetcar named desire is known as a timeless play, due to its highly controversial nature, it has
potential to be interpreted in a countless number of ways. A streetcar named desire allows members of
its audience to bond with specific characters, due to its extremely relatable characters, depending on
what your beliefs are. It was also a highly controversial play as many critics blamed the acting of
Marlin Brando, as a cause for people sympmathizing with him. The play explores the two characters
Blanche and Stanley, who symbolise the gender roles and the power of men over women in the 1940 s
in New Orleans. This struggle for power, Stanley through assertion for authority, leads to Blanche s

Research Paper On Osteogenesis Imperfect
Collagen is a fibrous protein which functions in the extracellular matrix and connective tissue. This
protein strengthens and supports tissues in the body, such as bone, cartilage, skin, and tendons.
Collagen 1 (alpha 1) is the most abundant type of collagen and is vastly distributed in connective
tissue, except in hyaline cartilage. Type I collage is found throughout the body in the skin, tendon,
vascular, organs, and it is responsible for strength and sturdiness. It is a triple helix formed by two
copies of the alpha chain and one copy of the alpha 2 chain. Type II collagen is the main element of

This condition causes bone breakage with little to no trauma. Osteogenesis imperfect is a connective
tissue disorder in which the protein, collagen, has a defective synthesis. This defective synthesis is due
to multiple mutations in the collage encoding genes and the severity of this disorder depends on the
particular mutation. The genetic defect affects the production and formation of collagen 1. The four
subtypes of osteogenesis imperfect are Type 1 OI, Type 2 OI, Type 3 OI, and Type 4 OI. Type 1 OI is
the most common and mildest form of this disease. Type 2 OI is the most severe form, and it is fatal.
In type 2 OI, the body either produces low quality of collage, or it doesn t produce enough. Type 3 OI
is also a severe form, but not fatal. In this type, the body produces enough collage, but poor quality.
Type 4 IO is the most flexible form because the symptoms can range from mild to severe. Patients
with Type I or Type IV osteogenesis imperfecta can usually inherit a mutation from a parent with the
disorder. In some cases, clinical geneticists perform biochemical or molecular tests which can confirm
a diagnosis of Osteogenesis imperfect. These tests are thought to detect close to 90% of all collagen

My First Day Of School Essay
We met during our second last year of high school. Back then, I had transferred to Richmond High
from my old school, Churchill, to study in the IB program they offered. I was quite looking forward to
it, actually. I felt that the past years of my life had been wasted on social life and boys who just
disappointed me at the end. Moving to a new school was a way to break free, to start anew and focus
on something different for a change. Studies. That s right, I was going to focus on studies. Plus, I had
quite a few close friends who were going to be there, and that made it even better. The first day of
school had been fun. I had some classes with the people I was familiar with. Even the morning classes
didn t sound so bad, since my best friends were in there. Lucy Sun and Anna Zhang were among the
reasons of why I had wanted to transfer. The three of us had known each other since a young age.
They might have been a little crazy back then, but awesome none the same. They were the friends I
would never want to let go of. They were best friends as well, though it seemed unlikely. Those two
were as different as two people can get. Lucy was slim, with a small figure and a pretty face to match.
She had short hair back then, and the locks barely reached her shoulders. She dressed the way Korea
or Asian girls would dress, delicate and feminine. She took great interest in hair styles and sometimes
complained about how her short hair didn t allow her to wear the style she wanted.

External Pressure On Public Administration
After reading through the syllabus, there appear to be many direct linkages between this course and
the previous courses that I have participated in. The first module focuses on external pressures on
public administration. I learned about external forces on public administrators in Introduction to
Public Administration, and Managing Change in the 21st Century. Though Introduction to Public
Administration only gave a vague overview of external pressures, Managing Change gave greater
detail on how there are forces outside of government, including citizens, interest groups and private
sector companies who all will influence the decision making process. These same courses also focused
on the internal pressures within organizations and government that will also impact the decision
making processes of public administrators. Budgeting is also a topic that I have experience with.
Budgeting in the public sector is entirely different than budgeting in the private sector. Lastly, my
previous public administration courses emphasized the importance of performance expectation and
improvement. Efficiency and effectiveness is a goal that public administrators everywhere should
work towards. Of my previous public administration courses, there are two courses that made a
significant impact on me. Ethics and Policy Administration, and Personnel Administration in the
Public Sector were my favorite courses. I enjoyed the Ethics and Public policy course, because it

Canada is a well known country for it s diverse residents, powerful economy, civilized citizens but

Firstly, one of the most horrific practises of the world of assimilation, where one is forced to convert

than what meets the eye to nature. His purpose for thinking this is shown in this, Nature never wears a
mean appearance (Emerson220). In this, Emerson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Proclaiming this, Krakauer means after one experiences something so great they learn and are shaped
by the change they had. As one goes on in life they change, just like Chris is when he went to into the
wild. As the book goes on it avers, The fullest sense of the word, an epic journey would change
everything (Krakauer22). Displaying that Krakauer is referring to McCandless trip. How one thing
could change someone so much. The honesty of nature shaped McCandless as he was on this
adventure. It showed him how good life can be. As one can tell Emerson s essay and Krakauer s book
shows how on is shaped by the honesty of nature. Emerson and McCandless story are similar. They
both feel like nature is a pure thing. Comparing the two, when McCandless is living off the land and
how both feel like one should use the land to its full potential. Also, the two excerpts are similar for
both explain that nature is something that is truly aesthetic. As both stories set out to prove how one
can overlook how extraordinary nature is. It wasn t until McCandless set out into the wild that he
candidly appreciated the outdoors. Nature and Into the Wild both state that adults don t see nature in
full. McCandless and Emerson realize that there is copious more to nature as one grows older, but it s
rarely recognized. As McCandless takes his adventure into the wild, he realizes how superlative it is

Of Mice and Men Importance of Friendship George and Lennie
Of Mice and Men has many themes presented by Steinbeck, one of which is about friendship. The
novella shows the relationship between the protagonists, George and Lennie, and showing how they
try to achieve the American Dream by working together. This is in contrast to many of the other
characters who are alone by themselves which seems to be the norm at the time of the Great
Depression. The reader is able to look at how the need to have a companion is portrayed by Steinbeck,
especially during the harsh economic times that the story is set in.
The reliance that George and Lennie have on one another is able to emphasise on how it is only the
friendship between the two of them which allows them to survive. Lennie saying I got you to look ...

Although most of the men have no true friends, they at least get to play cards and associate with
others. Lennie, because of the colour of his skin and his friendship with George, cannot possibly
understand Crooks plight. George chooses to kill Lennie at the novel s end, realizing that Lennie could
not stand the loneliness of being locked up in a prison or an asylum. This is also able to highlight the
true friendship which is separated at the end which also brings an end to the novella. Thus the need for
companionship, which is shown by other characters that are victimised within society, is emphasised
as other strive for what George and Lennie have.
Throughout the book Steinbeck uses many characters to emphasize a message which he wants to get
across to the reader. This is how the importance of being able to share a friend was vital during the
1930 s as it was the time of the Depression era and everyone always needed someone else to be with.
This is what makes the true friendship between George and Lennie a key component of the

The movie Unbroken was about an Olympic athlete who participated in the war against Japan. His

plane had got shot up and the brakes didn t work so the pilot had to attempt to land the plane without

Phil later on came to Louis with a new crew and told him that they were assigned to go on a rescue
mission for survivors of a plane that had not come back after it was deployed. They had to go search
the ocean with binoculars taking turns. At one point in the search the planes engine went out and they
had to prepare to crash in the ocean. Only 3 out of the ten crew members on the plane survived the
brutal crash. The people who survived were Phil the pilot, Francis a tail gunner, and Louis the
bombardier. They stayed afloat by dragging each other onto two life

Baseball Descriptive Paragraph
KLANG! The most satisfying sound that a baseball player can hear. That is the sound of a solid hit
that every player dreams on getting every time they are up to bat. Now, a lot of people do not get how
others in the world think this very simple sport is any fun. Well, they have never had the feeling of
walking up the the plate with the crowd roaring behind them. They have never felt running around the
bases and getting home and teammates rushing out the congratulate them. Never have they felt the
anxiousness during the national anthem just waiting to get out there and play. So, that is why I want to
let everyone know how amazing it is to play at the Paynesville Area Baseball Field. From the
perspective of a player playing the position of catcher, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone darts back to the dugout for the bottom of the seventh. I know I am the third hitter, so I get
my helmet and gloves out of the cubby hole on the left side of the dugout. I grab my favorite green
and black Easton bat. The first batter hits a solid double to get on. The next batter walks up to the
plate, and I am on deck. I walk out just outside the dugout on a dirt rectangle that goes the length of
the dugout. From this place I can really take in the whole stadium. The crowd behind home plate is all
on their feet. All the players in both dugouts are screaming. The players in the field are focused as a
lion while hunting its prey. The batter watches two pitches, then makes solid contact. I can tell because
it makes the beautiful, TING, noise when the ball hits the sweet spot of the bat. He also gets a double,
and the runner on second scores. Tie game with a runner on second, and I am up to bat. I stroll up to
the plate looking down at my feet, feeling the pressure. I set up in the batter s box, and stare down the
pitcher. He nods. I am expecting a fastball, as the pitcher gets set. I am a little nervous, so I watch the
first pitch zip by. I look out in the outfield, and see the outfielders playing very far up, so they can
throw out the runner at home. The pitcher gets set again, and comes with another fastball. I see it
coming the whole way. I twist my hips and drive the ball hard. I watch it sail, and the outfielders

Strength Of Women In The Bean Trees
The strength of the female population is constantly increasing. Women are gaining the courage to be
stronger and more independent. Women are proving that they are just as strong as men, they are
becoming CEO s and running for president. Barbara Kingsolver wrote these three main supporting
characters going through difficult events, but making it through them with the strength they have as
single females. The female strength in these three women is one of the main themes in the book The
Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver.
In the book Mattie is definitely a strong character. When Taylor meets Mattie she is surprised. Back in
Pittman, where Taylor is from a woman would never own and run a tire store all by herself. Mattie
may not be gaining much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strength is really hard to obtain with a lack of confidence. Lou Ann is upset with herself so Taylor
tries to make her feel better, If you say one more word about being fat I m going to stick my fingers in
my ears and sing Blue Bayou until you re done (135). Taylor is a bigger support for Lou Ann than
Angel could ever be. Even if what Taylor does isn t the most supportive, just being there for someone
is really all that s needed. When Esperanza tries to kill herself, Taylor sits with her. She doesn t do
much but just being there is enough support for Esperanza. Taylor just has to be there with intentions
to support and it would make all the difference. Support isn t just comforting by speaking to them, but
also being there to help in a time of need. Taylor takes Esperanza and Estevan to Oklahoma, to go to
the Cherokee nation. That s the most helpful and supportive thing Taylor could do for them. One of
the main personality traits from Taylor is the empowerment she gives to others and the strength she
shows
The females in The Bean Trees are so strong and that s a main theme that Barbara Kingsolver portrays
in the book. Lou Ann becomes so strong as the book progresses, she even supports Taylor who
supported her the most. Taylor and Mattie are even willing to break the law in order to support others.
Now that females are getting stronger and feminism is such an important topic, it s good to read about
strong females. It helps recognize how much females are doing especially to read something so

Comparing Cortez And Columbus
Cortez was born on 1485, Medellin in western Spain. He originally studied in law, but decided to find
fame and wealth in exploring. He travelled to Cuba, and then became the leader of an expedition to
explore Mexico. He was to convert the natives of Mexico to God, he was also to bring back gold to
Europe from Mexico. Cortez and Columbus were very much alike; they both wanted fame and wealth
and looked for it in exploration. These men did succeed in their quest, but they did not do it the way
they had planned it out. They both have very controversial pasts; looking back people even wonder if
they were good, Or evil? Cortez started his voyage to Mexico, by persuading Velazquez to allow him
to lead his own expedition to find wealth in Mexico. Velazquez ... Show more content on

Cortez ignored his command, and set sail. Once he landed in now Veracruz, he made friends with the
locals and traded goods. Cortez looking for wealth, wanted to go to the biggest civilization known as
the Aztecs. It was a three month journey through rough terrain. Anyone that defied Cortez he would
slaughter, the natives would ether surrender or be put to death. The leader of the Aztecs Montezuma
worried that Cortez was a prophecy of a white god coming from the east; Cortez used this to instill
fear into his opponents. Once Cortez made it to the Aztecs, Montezuma welcomed Cortez into his city
with wide open arms and bearing gifts. Cortez was treated very well there, and he found all of the
riches he was looking for. But he found a little more than he expected. He had been shown a sacrifice

Argumentative Essay On Artificial Intelligence Artificial Intelligence is a topic within the public media that has existed for decades, but is now a concern due to the reality of human advancement and innovation in the field of science and technology. Many people believe that computers will become self aware or sentient and view humanity as a disposable resource and gain supremacy. Reasoning that research on the technology should halt and not become more advance. Whereas others believe they will help catapult research and the economy forward, supporting the operations and innovations the technology offers. The complicated and divided solutions to the debate aren t obvious, but there are more benefits to improving artificial intelligence than there is stopping it. Therefore, the negative effects people believe will occur can be resolved. There are different types of artificial intelligence that many institutes and companies believe in. However, they all share the same belief of a self aware, conscious, human like, computer system, the type of AI people fear. Disregarding that an AI is a computer much like a phone or laptop, one must consider that if something is sentient like a person or animal, should they be treated like one? And if not, is it discrimination or racism when it is treated like an item? Slavery treated people based on race or social status differently, the bottom being slaves. Seminar in Individual Differences and Personality Abstract A study of American undergraduates indicated that the beliefs about the nature of life after death were quite complicated. A 41 item questionnaire produced 12 independent groups of beliefs. Belief in an internal locus of control and that one s life is owned by God were associated with a more positive view of the afterlife, as was being Roman Catholic rather than Protestant. Three of the major factors were that 12.1 percent believe in Heave and Hell. 7.9 percent believe in reincarnation and 6.6 percent believed that there ate material objects and sexual desire in the after life. The gender differences that were found are that men are not less likely to believe in afterlife but they were less likely to believe in Heaven, reuniting with loved ones, communication with the living and request for forgiveness before death. Men were more likely the women to believe that there are material objects, that spirits have human form, that there is pain, hunger, thirst and that rituals carried out after death are important. The religious differences they found were that Protestant students were less likely to believe in life after death then Roman Catholic students. On the other hand, Protestant students were more likely to believe that there is Hell and that forgiveness needs to be requested to get into Heaven. My paper will show how I related to all the myths within a culture and tie them to the real world. Below I will explain how everything turned out and how we came up with out topic for the final project. I think as of now the level of engagement my partners have participated in is very low. We decided we wanted to focus on the Greek culture on April twenty fourth. I contacted them and asked how we wanted to split the work up or even start and I had no responses. Finally at nine on Saturday night one of my group members messaged a link to Google Documents, with only one slide started. I started working on the Google PowerPoint at eleven at night and woke up this morning to see nothing had been added. I went back on around eleven this morning and added new work. A little update to this situation it is now six, nothing has been added, but my work and I have had zero contact with my group. So I will say my group had little engagement in this project, one member did make the Google document, but nothing has been started. I think I learned a lot about my teamwork skills. I am such a perfectionist and like to get things done early. Working with a group makes it challenging, because people had different time schedules. I think I learned that I am someone who engages with a project more often than my group, because I want to get my work done. My goal for this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This difficult topic is especially prevalent in many public schools today. Most public schools comply with the separation of church and state by instating rules against any kind of religious expression, essentially mandating conformity among students in terms of religious expression. Some schools, however, have decided to place no restrictions on religious expression. This serves to promote individual freedom among students. Even if it may seem that schools strongly differ when it comes to religious expression, schools do have something in common pertaining to this issue. After all, it is the school s job to educate our future generation so they are equipped for a world containing a multitude of religious aspects even if doing so in an indirect manner. Providing students the freedom to practice whichever religion they choose restricts feelings of pressure to withhold their religious expression; something they would have to withhold in the name of conformity at some public schools. As students become inevitably educated about religion through religious expression around them, they steadily become less intolerant of other religions besides their own. The students become accepting of the reality that we live in where many different religious beliefs exist among people in all areas of life. This effect closely mirrors the attitude that these students will have towards religion in the real world. Not only does exposure to religious expression benefit the students and the school, but it furthermore benefits the world as a whole by moving the future generation away from religious intolerance. This creates a world where people can be comfortable and sure in their religion due to the lack of intolerance directed towards them. Currently, however, religiously motivated hate crimes are on the rise. In 2004, about 10 percent of all hate crimes were religiously motivated− compared to 28 percent today (Jackson 1). • 14. Baseball Has No Game Clock Essay The batting team attempts to score runs by hitting a ball that is thrown by the pitcher with a bat swung by the batter, then running counter clockwise around a series of four bases: first, second, third, and home plate. A run is scored when a player advances around the bases and returns to home plate. Players on the batting team take turns hitting against the pitcher of the fielding team, which tries to prevent runs by getting hitters out in any of several ways. A player on the batting team who reaches a base safely can later attempt to advance to subsequent bases during teammates turns batting, such as on a hit or by other means. The teams switch between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team records three outs. One turn batting for both teams, beginning with the visiting team, constitutes an inning. A game is composed of nine innings, and the team with the greater number of runs at the end of the game wins. Baseball has no game clock, although almost all games end in the ninth inning. Baseball evolved from older bat and ball games already being played in England by the mid 18th century. This game was brought by immigrants to North America, where the modern version developed. By the late 19th century, baseball was widely recognized as the national sport of the United States. I look out in the outfield, and see the outfielders playing very far up, so they can throw out the runner at home. The pitcher gets set again, and comes with another fastball. I see it coming the whole way. I twist my hips and drive the ball hard. I watch it sail, and the outfielders ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
