The Theory of Attachment and Attachment Styles Essay examples
Attachment is the emotional bond between humans, which is based on our relationship with a parent
or early caregiver during the years of childhood. There are four different attachment styles secure,
preoccupied, dismissive, and fearful each describing a different way in which individuals interact with
others, approach social and romantic relationships, and deal with life.
Each attachment style is divided along two dimensions the fear of abandonment and the fear of
closeness. Bartholomew and Horowitz define fear of abandonment as the model of self which
describes the belief of an individual to be either worthy of love and support or not (1991). They also
define fear of closeness as the model of other which describes an individual s ... Show more content

The preoccupied attachment style is characterized by low fear of closeness and high fear of
abandonment. Individuals classified as preoccupied have a negative model of themselves. Because
preoccupies see themselves as unworthy of love and unsupportive, they tend to strive for self
acceptance by gaining the acceptance of valued others (Bartholomew, 227) and would do everything
to keep people in their life; Preoccupied individuals try to avoid any kind of conflict in order to make
themselves loveable and others happy. Despite the fact that preoccupies often see others as trustworthy
and available, they also feel that others do not care about them as much as they care about others.
Somebody I would classify as preoccupied would be my ex boyfriend. He always felt that other
people around him would not care as much about him as he cared about them. He was worried that I
would not love him as much as he loved me and that I would not return his love. Whenever I broke up
with him, he became upset; he talked to my parents and friends, texted me every day and tried to
convince me to go back to him.
My ex boyfriend tried to avoid any kind of conflict not just with me, but also with his parents just to
keep us happy. However, every time we had a conflict, he either agreed with me or felt bad afterwards
and was afraid that I would not love him anymore.

Figurative Language In Jeanne Duprau s The City Of Ember
In Jeanne DuPrau s book The City of Ember it takes place in a very dark city without power or
electricity and nobody s happy. And when two kids are presented with the opportunity to help save
their city and risk their lives, they are the ones who want to do so. They go on this journey and hit
many obstacles on the way but they have the mindset to never give up and it may or may not help
them. One theme that can be supported throughout the book is that when someone risks their life for
others they can earn great respect from other people and other peers.
The theme in the story The City of Ember is shown early on in the book and it is represented by using
author s craft. The author s craft that is being used in the book is figurative language, such as similes
and metaphors. She uses figurative language in many different ways that can support the theme. For
example Fear had settled over the city. Lina felt it like a cold chill (Duprau 85). This is a good
example of figurative language and it also supports the theme. This is a good example, because it is
describing how bad the city is and also how Lina realized she needed to take charge in saving the city.
Duprau also uses another good example of figurative language towards the beginning also. For
instance it states in the book Once they are out the door, Lizzie said goodbye and scurried away as if
Linas bad luck were a disease that she might catch (Duprau 58). This is a good representation because
it is leading up to the

Literary Devices In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier
Eugenia Collier, the author of the short story Marigolds makes great use of literary devices such as
imagery, diction, flashback, and juxtaposition in a way that creates a voice for the narrator that
conveys both the regret over, and possibly the longing for her childhood. The diction, that is, the
vocabulary choice is expertly combined with imagery, or the unique descriptions and sensory details,
in order to allow the reader to formulate the experiences and the surroundings of the narrator s
childhood in their imaginations. Flashback is used to allow the narrator to not only explain how she
viewed the events of her past as a child, but to compare these views with her adult feelings of the same
events. Juxtaposition aids in further explaining the connection between the setting and emotions of the
main character, creating a better picture of the narrator s life. These elements all combine to construct
a narrative that effectively conveys the coming of age theme. The first literary devices that are to be
discussed are diction and imagery. Diction is the vocabulary demonstrated by the author, and how the
objective and subjective meaning of the words and phrases the author chooses to utilize help construct
and expand the narrative. An example of diction used uniquely by the author can be seen in paragraph
twelve of Marigolds when this sentence is used: the idleness whose prospect had seemed so beautiful
during the busy days of spring now had degenerated to an almost

Notational Analysis In Sports
Performance analysis in sport is the investigation of actual sports performance or performance in
training which can develop an understanding of sports that can inform decision making by seeking to
enhance or improve sports performance (O donoghue, 2010). So, performance analysis is very
important for every sport because it can help to improve performance for players and teams. In
performance analysis, there have a few types of analysis that can be use such as notational analysis,
biomechanics and motor control (Bartlett, 2001). In addition, it also can be use to analyse the match in

According to O donoghue and Ingram (2001), the players can make a plan to create new strategy to
make sure they win the match based on the knowledge of opponent s weakness and strength. From the
notational analysis in martial arts, analyst can provide and explain the weakness of the team to the

Notational analysis can be performed in two methods which is, hand notational and video

Town Hall By Michelle Malkin Summary
Even though Michelle Malkin, a republican columnist for Town Hall, is for Trump and is obviously
happy he will be President, the one thing she is totally against is millenials and the fact that they are
going to be able to continuously be on their parent s insurance plan until 26. She uses humor, sarcasm,
and evidence to prove a point in this article that preserving this plan is harming society instead of
helping it. Throughout the entire article, her voice was very strong and evident on how she felt about
this topic. She explains her points well by using strong language. Malkin also uses a lot of dry,
sarcastic humor, to really drive her points across. For example, when mentioning the maximum age
children can be before getting kicked off ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree that in general, we are more lazy and are a tad hypocritical. Thinking that just because you don
t have to work since you are under 26 and quit your job to do more meaningful things, that is not
necessarily considered a good, productive thing. But being one, a millennial that is, I also see the other
side of the argument. I believe that we can be the most productive when we are passionate about
something and the idea that non millennials have little to no faith in what we can accomplish has a
very negative outcome in what we then actually do. We are very proud of who we are for the most
part, and that may just be part of our generation s view on how life works, but generalizing every
single child under 26 or 31 to say that they are not the most motivated and all we want is free stuff and
to not have to work is not true. If I were to do a study, I bet it would show that they are only happy to
still be apart of their parent s plans because they are broke and what is most likely the main reason
they are broke? They are college students who are trying to pay for continuing their education so they
can further use talents to help the economy all the while taking disses from the older generation saying
how we are so lazy and only want free stuff. Times change, and along with change, there needs to be
adaptations. I do not know enough to say what the mandates should or should not be, but I do not
think that stereotyping us is not going to

Back Titration Lab Report
Abstract The concentration of ethanol in vodka was determined by back titration. A known amount of
excess potassium chromate was added to the vodka sample to convert ethanol into acetic acid by
oxidation. The amount of leftover chromate was determined by titration with iron (II) solution,
prepared from dissolution of ferrous ammonium sulfate. Using the amount of chromate added to the
vodka solution, the amount of chromate reacted was determined and used to find the amount of
ethanol in the sample. A potentiometer in the mV mode was used to create first and second derivative
curves for determining end points. The concentration of ethanol determined was 39.91%, with
standard deviation of 0.13%. The percent error was 0.22%, with the true concentration being 40.00%.
Introduction The consumption of alcoholic beverages, which has increased, has been presenting
several health complications in recent years. The center for disease control explained that the act of
drinking in order to become intoxicated has become more popular recently, and that this has led to
increases in alcohol poisoning, high blood pressure, stroke, liver disease, and neurological damage, as
well as both intentional and unintentional injuries [1]. Although alcoholic beverages contain many
different ingredients, the most significant is ethanol, as it is most commonly responsible for the health
problems mentioned above. This study s primary focus was to identify the concentration of ethanol in

Delivering on the bank s new competitive positioning also required changes to the intangible aspects
which are not visible to customer.
Before any branch was redesigned, all staff took part in special training sessions such as teambuilding
and customer service sessions, drawing on best customer practices from the retail sector.
Jyske management strongly believed that value is created through decisions and encouraged
empowerment of not only employees but also of the whole branch, with the managers to set the
example through their leadership and management style.
Additionally, with documentation, training and legal documents all centralized at the bank s
headquarters it allowed human resources to be more active in dealing with human issues and even
enabled them to outsource their problem solving skills as HR professionals in the field (at a regional
level) for a fee. This service was at the cost of the bank branch if they needed it, but was not
compulsory.

The Consequences of Bringing the Past with You Immediately into Tim O Brien s short story The
Things They Carried the reader is introduced to First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross and the letters he
carried from his past back home. Throughout the story, readers are also introduced to other items and
supplies which were largely determined by necessity (O Brien 1) as well as items deemed a luxury
that each individual soldier carried with him for one reason or another. Pictures, memorabilia, and
personal items all acted as a gateway into a portal which would bring them back home to the ones they
loved if only for five minutes at a time. Although the pictures, memorabilia and personal items of
Cross and his soldiers alike, helped them recall back to an era much more peaceful, the consequences
of bringing the past with you can carry exceedingly negative side effects.
Within the short story, the audience learns that Jimmy Cross carries letters and pictures from his crush
from back home, Martha. Multiple times within the story Jimmy Cross consults these pictures and
letters to distract himself from the war providing a bit of comfort in his harsh environment. With
progression through the story, readers find Jimmy Cross continuously reviewing the pictures and
letters from his dear Martha, letting his mind drift off thinking about her, distracting him from his
duties at hand. These distractions happen more and more often, eventually leading to the most
harrowing consequence. First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross s divergence from his important tasks at hand,
result in Ted Lavender being killed while under the supervision of Cross himself. This being the key
turning point for Cross, as he starts to realize his lapse in judgment and focus, had directly cost the life
of one of his soldiers. This resulting in him discovering that the pictures and letters from Martha, he
was using as hope for his future back home, and comfort from the issues at hand, were the stemming
source of all his problems and distractions, which ultimately cost the life of his soldier. Because of this
realization, Cross burns the pictures and letters from Martha, which he was holding onto in hopes that

Life Lessons Learned
What s a lesson you have learned in your life? Well, you have probably learned more than one lesson
in your life, and I definitely learn lessons everyday, but one that has stuck with me is that Jesus is the
only perfect person, and that I shouldn t feel like I am lacking perfection, because it isn t possible. I
can still strive for it, but I won t get all the way there. Some people may find that discouraging, but I
find that an encouragement. That is because I know that when I fail, I will know that I almost did
something impossible. Other people might see that I m saying that they will fail, and they will. The
truth can hurt, but I am (mostly) an honest person. I wouldn t lie about this, and you just need to
accept it, no one can be perfect, only Jesus. Reading the Holy Bible has taught me many things. One
of my favorite verses is 2 Samuel 22:31, As for God, his way is perfect; the LORD S word is flawless;
he shields all that take refuge in him. I had a bad day, and opened to a random verse, and found this.
One day in fourth grade we had SBAC testing and I had decided to take my Bible to school to read
after I finished, seeing as I usually finished before the end of the day. It was a little bit after 10 o clock,
and Mr. Porter had given us a break. I was by myself sitting in the grass near the backstop on the west
side of the field. I was having a bad day, being told I was worthless, so I took my Bible outside and
opened my Bible to a random place and started reading. I smelled the grass and felt it under me. The
warm May air hugged me like a comforting parent. The grass was slightly wet and the book was
heavy in my my hands, the design on the front cover was cool under my fingertips. My fuzzy jacket
and sweatpants against my waist and legs. I heard the kids playing around me and the wind whistling
through my ears. The pages are thin in my hands as I open to a random place and start reading, seeing
only the words. I hear a whistle blown by Mr. Porter, and stand up, feeling the familiar tingle when my
legs have fallen asleep.

Macro Lens
Ever see a spectacular photo of a flower online and wonder the process behind that picture? Well,
professional photographers buy expensive equipment like, lenses, tripods and extension tubes to take
clear crisp photos that have a blurred background. They use composition techniques like the angle of
attack to change the look of their photo. Finally, professionals edit their photos to make colors pop,
brighten shadows and darken highlights. Using good equipment, skill and editing, professional
photographers can create spectacular close up photos. Professional photographers use expensive
equipment to take beautiful pictures. Nice lenses make photos with bokeh (a Japanese word for blur)
in the background, but these are usually pricy. Evin Oke, a professional photographer, says his $700

The human eye finds things of three appealing; this is why many photographers such as Bryan
Peterson use the Rule of Thirds. Shapes, curves, and patterns make a photo more interesting because
they create dimension in a photo. An example of this is if a photographer goes to the market and takes
an apple and places it on top of the pile of oranges. The apple stands out against the oranges patterns,
shapes and curves. A way to create a more dynamic image is to change the angle from which you
shoot. (picturecorrect.com). This is called angle of attack and photographers use it often because it can
change the look of a photo dramatically. Shooting many pictures of flowers may get boring and
repetitive after time, but if a photographer changes his shooting angle, he can create a completely
different photo. Taking visually attractive photos requires a variety of skills to compose the

Openness to experience is used to describe human personality. Openness involves active imagination,
aesthetic sensitivity, attentiveness to inner feelings, preference for variety, and intellectual curiosity. A

Thus, openness can be viewed as a global personality trait consisting of a set of specific traits, habits,

July 16, 2017 Feminism in Othello
The male dominated society has hardly left any stone unturned in empowerment of women. Williams
Shakespeare s tragic play, Othello, reveals a detailed illustration of victimization of females in society.
Throughout the play, the three women Desdemona, Emilia, and Bianca are rejected by their spouses,
yet still cherish them completely. All three of the women are in an unbalanced marriage where the
women in the relationships exert more feelings for their self centered husband who are not able
respond. As the males throughout the play create a downfall in a society that is somewhat caused by

Brabantio encountered Othello for running away secretly with Desdemona without his approval, he
accuses Othello of being a foul their as if Desdemona was his piece of property. Brabantio repeatedly
insisted Othello had stolen his daughter as if she were a valuable object as he states O, thou foul thief,
where hast thou stowed my daughter? (1.2.80 81). As Iago speaks to Brabantio and plants the idea of
loss of power into Brabantio s mind. Iago cautions him saying, Your heart is burst, you have lost half
your soul (1.1 88 90). This quote highlights the fact that in Elizabethan society, Brabantio, like other
fathers, considered Desdemona s body to be his possession. Brabantio attempts to separate the couple
as he believes he has control over her whether he wants to give away his daughter or not. Desdemona
even points out that her mother chose Brabantio over her father. Despite her ability to argue for her
marriage, Desdemona is still seen as owing to either Brabantio or Othello. Both Brabantio and Othello
were worried about the loss of control and authority over the female desires when both individuals
want to keep the possession to themselves. Desdemona is treated more as if she was a piece of
property that is being exchanged between two men.
Nevertheless, a stronger character such as Emilia has accepted her role in society, as she is considered
weaker than men and are recognized to be property belonging to the man whom they are associated

The creation of a human being is a miraculous process. When many people hear human development,

development is broken down into three stages, the Germinal stage, the Embryonic Stage, and the Fetal
stage. This paper will mainly focus on the embryonic stage because there is a vast amount of crucial
development that happens during this period. The embryonic stage is also exciting because it is during
this stage that the mass of cells that are supposed to be a human, starts to actually resemble a baby.
The embryonic stage begins two weeks after conception, after implantation has taken place, and lasts
until week eight. During this time, some body structure begins to appear and by week eight, the
embryo has all basic organs and body parts. They are all very fragile and ... Show more content on

The embryonic stage is a critical point in human development where the embryo is very susceptible to
teratogens. Teratogens are any harmful substances, such as drugs or toxins, or conditions, such as
infections or malnutrition, that can cause harm to the embryo or impair development. The period of
exposure and the amount of exposure are key factors in teratogens affecting the embryo. The embryo
could also have a genetic disadvantage and be more vulnerable to teratogens or certain biological
conditions. So, although there are certain dangers during this stage, some incredible development also
takes place. By the end of the embryonic stage, the embryo is about a gram in weight and one inch in

What Is The Social Impact Of The Film Art Copy
Throughout everyday life we are welcomed by advertisements for a product. Rather its radio,

that a company has to go through in order to promote their product. Basically the wisdom and norms
on how to sell a product to customers. The production of the film is made by Doug Pray in the year

Internship Analysis Paper
Analysis Key Issue My internship term at EPRA has gone by with minimal issues. I have genuinely
enjoyed working with all of my colleagues and the position itself has been interesting. I would say that
the largest issue facing EPRA as a whole would be the distrust on environmental initiatives that was
previously discussed. There has, however, been a prevailing issue with my job specifically. As
mentioned, the auditing department at EPRA is relatively new. Due to this, very few employees have
had to be trained as a compliance analyst in the past. To be specific, only six people (including the
four that are currently on the team) have had to learn the position. Included in the six are two
employees who were hired to help start the auditing department ... Show more content on

Classic Vehicle Valuation
What Can You Do to Increase Your Classic Vehicle Valuation? It s a beautiful morning and you re
polishing up your Carmen red 1961 Jaguar E Type for your afternoon ride. You love her 3.8 litre,
double overhead camshaft 6 cylinder, 265 bhp engine, that sounds just right after having her serviced
in the loving hands of your most trusted mechanic. But could your mechanic have repaired something
that could negatively affect the valuation of your vehicle? The answer may surprise you. A classic car
isn t just expected to be running. Let s look at the top 5.5 things you can do to ensure your classic
vehicle continues an upward valuation. 1. Parts When your vehicle was manufactured, the parts were
all original factory pieces. Often when we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Exterior We re not trying to be superficial here, but it s true, they don t make them like they used to.
The exterior of your car should be as close to the original as possible with as few (modern) aesthetic
modifications as possible. They re gorgeous in their original form and collectors/hobbyists are looking
for original beauty. 5. Mechanics This is relatively obvious, but we want a classic car that works... like
it did in its heyday. One of the biggest contributors to overall classic car value is the operation of the
engine, transmission, steering, the state of the undercarriage and the, of course, general wear and tear
such as mileage. 5.5 Original Documentation This doesn t necessarily guarantee an increase in value
but simply because of how rare it is to have the original showroom documentation for classic vehicles,
it does tend to be in the very least a cool addition to the vehicle s history and authenticity. All these
things contribute to a category rating used to determine the value of your classic car. You should check
with your insurance provider to see whether there has been an increase in value of your prized
possession. The chances are, because we re dealing with classics, each year or every other year, there
may be an adjustment in the valuation of your vehicle. Happy

The Pros And Cons Of The Huge Depression
The firm detachment between commerce and banking in the financial world had been established by
The Glass Steagall Act, 1933. One of the banks that detained the Act of 1956 tried to concern the same

through the mid twentieth century, the form modulation and accumulation of insurance that Glass

Fees For High School Sports
Sports in conjunction with academics are capable of creating a balance that makes for a well rounded
citizen and healthy, happy employee. Issues in the mix often come from the balance itself. Many
students find themselves overcommitted to sport while others find they are not able to compete. I will
examine issues in interscholastic and collegiate sport.
Sports cannot always be completely free due to issues outside the realm of sport, but it should be as
inexpensive as possible to participate. Fees for high school sports should follow certain guidelines.
First off, there should always be a minimum cost sport option for high school students. For example,
any student should be allowed to participate in track and cross country since these sports require little
to no equipment and have little limits on team size. Second, high schools should not make a net profit
or loss on sports. High school sports should act as their own entities with their own funding from the
school board, and they should never take from academics and vice versa. Third, different costs for
sports should be controlled vehemently before charging fees to play. There should be no more than 1
paid coach per team, and if there is more than 1 paid coach, there should be no fees to play the sport
since only one experienced coach should be needed to share knowledge with the entire team and
volunteer coaches. Other controllable costs include equipment. Sports equipment and jerseys should
be used for as long as

The Challenges Of A Entrepreneur And Start A Business
An entrepreneur is a natural born individual that can emerge and flourish anywhere, even in the
smallest country in the World such as Monaco. All it takes is an idea and a dream to turn it into an

international. Entrepreneurs are dynamic individuals that have the initiative to take risks and start up a

I have interviewed a successful entrepreneur with an extensive knowledge and experience of

Many people dream of becoming entrepreneurs someday. It made me realize there are factors to be
considered. We need to ask ourselves are we ready to take the challenge to the outside world. Not
everyone has the vision, innovation and creativity to become an entrepreneur. The person must have a

How Does Dickens Use Satire In A Tale Of Two Cities
Satire, or the use of exaggeration, incongruity, reversal, and parody to draw attention to and criticize
the flaws of individual people or society as a whole, was used centuries ago and is still used today
because of a satirist s ability to creatively address issues they see. Throughout A Tale of Two Cities,
Charles Dickens effectively uses satire to encourage social reform in a society he saw was in dire need
of it. Describing Darnay s first trial, Dickens uses incongruity when comparing blue flies to the mob
that has gathered to watch his trial. After the Attorney General had stopped talking, a buzz arose in the
court as if a cloud of great blue flies were swarming about the prisoner, in anticipation of what he was
soon to become (Dickens 69). A crowd of people is not the same thing as a swarm of flies, but by
juxtaposing these two things, Dickens draws attention to the crowd s tendency to act like a swarm of
flies obnoxious and unable to think for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

men, all four a blaze with gorgeous decoration, and the Chief of them unable to exist with fewer than

chocolate without the help of four additional people; however, by making it seem like the
Monseigneur would drop dead without the help of his four servants, the otherworldly wealth of the top
two percent is shown in full. Additionally, by claiming the Chief servant would cease to exist without
his two gold watches, Dickens exposes that the wealth of the top two percent, obtained through
exploitation of the third estate, is so extreme that even servants are unnecessarily excessive. Similarly,
Dickens uses satire specifically incongruity, as well as reversal when describing Jerry

The Physics of Hockey Essays
The Physics of Hockey
Physics is everywhere. Consequently, physics is a part of sports and more specifically, hockey. As the
scientific discoveries progressed with time, so did the advancements in the sport of hockey, reflecting
on how important and influential science truly is. Physics takes part in the ice, the skates, the
protective gear, the shots, goaltending, and all other aspects of ice hockey. Skates used to be more like
skis. Players glided on the ice rather than actually skated. Artifacts also show the use of animal bones
as skate blades as well. Currently, steal blades are used. There is a small arc groove on the blade that
provides the friction needed to counteract the slipperiness of the ice (Haché 37). The ... Show more

This does not mean that there is more heat but rather heat is applied more quickly (Haché 24).
The most basic and necessary skill in hockey is skating. Skating is made possible thanks to Newton s
Third Law. With every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The blade applies force on the
ice and the ice pushes back on the blade causing a forward movement. To accelerate, players exert a
strong force on the lower part of their bodies by leaning forward. Gravity pulls down on a hockey
player s center of mass which torques him forward (Exploratorium 1). Skaters also skate and
accelerate while turning. Centripetal force enables the player to lean inward and create a sharp turn
(Haché 50).
Acceleration is negative for a braking skater and is determined by the friction force on the skate blade.
To achieve this, the skater turns their skates perpendicular to the direction of motion and digs the
blade into the ice, creating the greatest resistive force. The blade scrapes a layer of ice off the surface
and the player comes to a stop (Exploratorium 1).
Another large part of the sport is the physical contact. Hockey can turn into a brutal game with 220
pound men checking each other left and right. Because these men have large masses and fast
velocities, they have a lot of kinetic energy. The energy of each player before the collision is K = ½
mv2 and afterward (because their collisions are inelastic) their total energy = ½

An Informative Essay On Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras is a Christian holiday, which was brought by the French when they colonized a part of the

February and March; it all depends when is going to be Easter. I chose Mardi Gras, because it was an

Her Themes
Her a movie written and directed by Spike Jonze, is what I consider it to be the greatest movie in the
twenty first century so far. There are only a few words that describe the movie: beautiful, touching,
and intelligent. Her is about a man in the future, who is struggling with depression and isolation,
developing an unlikely relationship with an operating system. The movie is beautiful in every scene;
almost as if every scene could be a new art piece. The movie was filmed in Los Angeles and Shanghai,
the blend of both cities creates and futuristic setting, but is still completely real and possible.
Everything in the movie is perfectly positioned: cups, furniture, extras, and aesthetic lighting, it makes

stories these days: it dissects every part of love. This movie makes a viewer question what love is

Jonze has done something that almost seems rare in this day in age, a completely original story. It may
have taken inspiration from different pieces of art, but it is not an adaptation of an original idea, a

Predatory Men in William Faulkner’s Novel, Sanctuary Essay
Predatory Men in William Faulkner s Novel, Sanctuary
William Faulkner s novel, Sanctuary, is replete with subtlety and symbolism. En route to Old
Frenchman s Place, Temple Drake thinks of baseball players in the Saturday game she is missing as
crouching, uttering short, yelping cries like marsh fowl disturbed by an alligator, not certain of where
the danger is, motionless, poised (37). In creating such an image of predation, Faulkner prepares the
reader for Temple s arrival at Old Frenchman s Place the prey/predator metaphor lending itself
perfectly to Temple s situation vis à vis the men there.

Popeye is characterized as unnatural, his features being likened to inanimate objects. He is described
as having that vicious depthless quality of stamped tin (4), his eyes are compared to two knobs of soft
black rubber (4), and his posture is described as making him resemble a modernist lampstand (7).
Popeye dislikes and fears nature, preferring to take the long way rather than walk through the woods
at night, and being frightened by owls and dogs (7, 19). His aversion for nature underscores the threat
his already menacing behavior poses to the vulnerable, animal like Temple and to Tommy.
Tommy, who can walk through the sand with the ease of a mule (20) and when necessary...move with
that thick, lightning like celerity of badgers or coons (71), is, like Temple, described in terms of nature
and as having animal like characteristics. This similarity may explain her relative comfort around him
and her inclination to seek him at the dinner table (64). Despite his naturalness however, Tommy is not
necessarily an exception to Faulkner s characterization of the men in Sanctuary as predatory. Tommy
is seemingly concerned for Temple s well being, but his behavior hints that there may be more to his
concern for her than pure kindness. His body began to writhe again in shocked indecision...his hands
wringing slowly against his flanks...from time to time he

that, we can subtract this amount from all 20 ml NaOH added to the sample, so the amount of NaOH

ICC and America

particularly from Americans, regarding what many view as fundamental flaws. I have chosen two
papers to compare and contrast the different viewpoints taken by the authors when reflecting upon

Besides posing a threat to America s sovereignty, some aspects of the ICC pose a threat to the rights of

the right to trial by an impartial jury, and the right of the accused to confront the witnesses against him

The Dark Knight
2012 was a great year for nerds like myself. The Avengers, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and
The Dark Knight Rises all came out during this year. Each movie piqued the anticipation of fans
everywhere. For me, the last of these three seemed the most intriguing. Christopher Nolan, fresh off
the brilliant Inception was concluding his epic The Dark Knight Trilogy. The Dark Knight became one
of the best sequels ever, so I expected The Dark Knight Rises to live up to Batman Begins, at least.
Unfortunately, lightning did not strike twice because The Dark Knight Rises, while still a good movie,
is the worst in the trilogy.
This film takes place eight years after the awe inspiring events of The Dark Knight. The lies told at the
end of the previous film have served their purpose. Gotham has become a cleaner, more crime free
city than ever before. But not all is well. Bruce Wayne (Christiaan Bale reprising his role) has become
a recluse. Jim Gordon (played again by Gary Oldman) feels overwhelmed by guilt. To top it all off,
Gotham faces a new terrorist threat from an unknown entity known as Bane (Tom Hardy). To combat
Bane, Batman must return from his self imposed exile to save Gotham once more.
All the returning actors give worthy performances in their respective roles, which they have made
their own. Christian Bale simply inhabits Batman at this point, and he adds more depth to Bruce
Wayne in this third movie. Morgan Freeman provides a characteristically on point performance as

The Importance Of Foreign Aid In Australia
There are two main perspectives on foreign aid in Australia are we giving too much or not enough?
Foreign aid is given to developing countries, and is necessary to build an environment where policies
and infrastructure can be in place to support other sources of finance. Australia is part of the
worldwide foreign aid commitment as we value that everyone should have a fair go, and the country
plans to give $3.9 billion over 2017 and 2018. We help countries in need by contributing, food,
resources, providing financial assistance, exchanging goods, personal time and knowledge. The main
types of aid are humanitarian aid, which is disaster relief and emergency aid and development aid,
which is a long term commitment between nations. Australian aid is strongly on development aid
particularly focused on the Asia Pacific region, but it also has a strong commitment to African and
South Asia. Interestingly, 90% of Australia s foreign aid goes to Asia Pacific countries such as
Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, because if they build into a developed nation, then we can build
trade relations, regional security and partner in defence. This is a polarizing issue that divides the
nation due to different views on Australia giving aid, however, a strong foreign aid program is vital for
Australia to build successful relations and regional security.

Essay On The Making Of Malcolm Turn Bull
We ve all heard the tired argument regurgitated by the ostentatious social commentator or the

only to create power for themselves and serve their own egos. And so it would seem, that Malcolm
Turnbull an undeniably professional politician who rose to prime ministership undemocratically

to determine where the victim had his last meal. Most organic compounds in living organisms are
carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, or nucleic acids. Each of these macromolecules is made of smaller
subunits or monomers held together by covalent bonds. Most food is composed of three types of
molecules: carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. Carbohydrates such as starches and sugars are major
source of energy. Simple sugars are found in sweets and fruits. Starches are found in potatoes, cereal,
pasta, flour, and other plant products. Proteins are used in body structures such as muscles, skin, and
hair. Rich sources of proteins include meats, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TESTING FOR SIMPLE CARBOHYDRATES: Add 1.5 mL of Benedict s solution to a test tube with
distilled water, and to a test tube with the stomach content. If the content in the test tube chnages to the
color orange, the test result is positive. If the content does not change color, the test result is negative.
(the students only determine the test results based on the stomach content, not the distilled water.)
Place the tube carefully in the hot water bath for at least 3 minutes. Using the test tube holder,
carefully remove the test tube from the hot water bath and place it in the test tube rack. Record the

Dramatic Soprano Essay
In classical music, there is a wide and diverse range of voice types. Among these voice types lies the
dramatic soprano. The most ample of all soprano voices is that of the dramatic soprano. She must have
great sustaining power, exhibiting both depth and brilliance of timbre as well as an imposing physical
presence. This voice is also the heaviest and most powerful soprano voice which enables it to sing
over large orchestras from the top of their range to the bottom of their range.
The New Grove Dictionary of Opera defines a dramatic soprano as:
A type of soprano voice. The term admits a wide variety of repertory and voice type. Any claimant to
it must possess a powerful voice and a style capable of energetic emphasis... whose best roles ... Show

For others, learning how to support the voice is a process that takes many years. Montserrat Caballe
spent her first year at the Conservatoire learning how to breathe. She went on to call this her
respiratory gymnastics. Her breathing exercises were aimed at building a big solid wall around the
diaphragm by using and controlling all those muscles under and behind the abdomen which support
the diaphragm and the back. She wanted to strengthen them to the point where the diaphragm does
need to work but only to support the breath. The actual work of pushing up the air is done by the
abdominal muscles. Dramatic Soprano and Professor of Voice at New England Conservatory, Jane
Eaglen shares Caballe s beliefs on the sheer physicality required to achieve sufficient breathe support
for a large voice. She states Making the voice seamlessly supported throughout its entire range takes a
lot of physical strength. Not stamina, but sheer physical strength. The strength to use your muscles,
and the diaphragm, and the rest of the body in the right way never the throat. There must never be an
inkling of tension in the throat. I very much use all of my body to sing. I use my legs, bottom,
everything. So the whole body was ready by then: the cords were ready, the voice was ready and the
muscles were ready. A voice should always be like that seamless. But this just took time. It came
through good teaching and my being

Significant Events that Shaped America between 1940 and 1980
From 1940 to 1980 there were many significant events that shaped America. Events in history are not
defined by how they actually happened but how they were interpreted. Be it by the people of that land
or other lands looking in. In what ways do people receive the important news? News comes through
media outlets such as radio, newspaper and television. Americans especially tend to take things at face
value. This information must be true, I read it in a newspaper. In 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor
and in the coming weeks thanks to newspaper, men and underage boys were lined up in a fury ready to
serve their country and the United States declares war on Japan. In the same year Hitler declares war
on the United States. The United States drops the Atomic bomb and Japan surrenders.
It was not possible to call up a loved one off at war to catch up. In 1948 there was the Berlin Airlift,
and 1949 NATO was established. In 1950 the McCarthy Hearings begin and are wildly popular on
almost every radio station. In 1954 Brown v.Board of Education is decided and the Civil Rights
movement begins to cause a stir in the early 60s. The Cuban Missile Crisis, Kennedy is assassinated,
race riots, Tet offensive, the end o the Vietnam War, Watergate. All newsworthy events, each rich with
detail and the only way the American public knew what was going on half way around the world was
daily broadcasts in the paper and on the radio.

China Vs Jap More Than A Century Of Conflict
China vs. Japan: More than a century of conflict
Enchantria Fleming
Excelsior College
For more than a century, China and Japan have had conflict after conflict, from the first Sino Japanese
war between the Qing Empire and the Empire of Japan then the second Sino Japanese war nearly 50
years later. The conflict between these two countries stems from fights over territory to constant
scrutinization between the two because of cultural differences and what I believe has begun to exhibit
signs of cultural incompetence.
The First Sino Japanese war allowed Japan to emerge as a major world power while revealing the
weakness of the Chinese empire. Both China and Japan wanted to rule supreme over Korea. Korea
was already one of China s most significant clients. Japan started to notice Korea for its geographic
positioning and its natural resources (coal and iron). After Japan implemented Western technology,
Korea was forced to expose itself to trade with Japan and proclaim independence from China.
Japanese reformers attempted to overthrow the Korean government in 1884. Chinese troops rescued
the king killing several Japanese guards in the process. War was evaded between the two countries by
signing of the Li Ito convention, both countries had to withdraw troops from Korea. In 1894, Kim Ok
kyun, a pro Japanese Korean leader of the 1884 rebellion, was invited to Shanghai and assassinated.
His body was then placed aboard a Chinese warship and directed back to Korea, where it

Blood In Blood Out Analysis
Identity that which we all struggle to find. Miklo is the very same case in Taylor Hackford s Blood In
Blood Out who struggles to prove himself as a Chicano due to his white skin however culturally
Miklo is as Chicano as anyone in Onda. The most important part of this dynamic, is that when Miklo
gets arrested for killing spider, a rival gang leader, the prison gang system is divided by race and skin
color all which he is stuck in the middle of. In prison, is where he would meet Magic a member of
spider s gang which openly fought with Miklo s gang Vatos Locos. They quickly become friends
despite their previous conflicts and confrontations between the two gangs because as Popeye
mentioned everything is determined by race. This is relevant as in ... Show more content on

It is a black versus brown versus white with no blending in between until Miklo who in the surface is
very white but brown within. Only when Onda unites does everything go well, this in part was due to
the murder of El Mero Mero. One major theme in Blood In Blood Out is that political and social
improvements are inevitable once the Raza Unites. A similar case is discussed in Chapter 27 of En
Aquel Entonces which discuss the La Raza Unida Party who in great part was influenced by the Black
Power Movement which stressed pride in black culture. In a very similar ideology, La Raza Unida
would have a nationalistic tone to it. In Blood In Blood Out, Onda mirrors the ideology of La Raza
Unida as they both knew that to be represented equally they would have to take action and not just sit
by and complain. As Onda united, they quickly took political and economic power in the prison
system which they were previously so oppressed in; this is incredibly similar how La Raza Unida once
they got Hispanics united, would sweep city council and school boards. However, in a similar way to
Onda they lost power once they didn t have the support of their people and /or

Examples Of Self Centeredness In The Great Gatsby
Self Centeredness in Gatsby
Fitzgerald provides many themes in his book The Great Gatsby one of the main themes is how being
self centered can easily overpower self morals. This theme is described in every character except Nick
through what they are engaged in. The motif of self centeredness is frequently portrayed in Gatsby and
gives an added comparison to Fitzgerald s theme of self centeredness. The first example of self
centeredness in Gatsby is Jay Gatsby himself, by giving the reader a concrete example of being self
centered. She never...except me. (Fitzgerald 130)
This shows how Gatsby is self centered by consistently pressuring Daisy into being with him knowing
Daisy has a family and life after he left for the war. There is much more

Examples Of Pride In Macbeth
Agency of Pride The American author, speaker, and pastor John C. Maxwell explains how pride can
have two different effects on people, There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. Good pride
represents our dignity and self respect. Bad pride is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit
and arrogance ( John C Maxwell). This quote is evident in the lives and actions of Macbeth, Malcolm,
and Macduff. Malcolm and Macduff pride were driven by confidence and obedience to their kingdom.
Macbeth was faced with temptations that pressured his prideful trait for evil and cruel deeds. Macbeth
s pride and desires cloud his judgment which led to the lies, betrayals, and murders. The play of
Macbeth clearly illustrates how Macbeth did have agency during his temptations. One example of
Macbeth s agency of pride that is expressed during the play is the willpower that Macbeth has to
control his actions during the first meeting with the witches. In this interaction, the witches only tell
him half of the prophecy By Sinel s death I know I am Thane of Glamis. But how of Cawdor? The
Thane of Cawdor lives, A prosperous gentleman, and to be king Stands not within the prospect of
belief, No more than to be Cawdor. Say from whence You owe this strange intelligence, or why Upon
this blasted heath you stop our way With such prophetic greeting (Shakespeare). The encounter with
the witches demonstrates how Macbeth had power over his response to the witches because he had

Analysis Of Adolf Hitler s Accomplishments And Mistakes Of...
Michael Bonney
Mr. Saleeba
English 4
14, March 2018 The Accomplishments and Mistakes of Pure Evil When you hear the name Adolf
Hitler, you will generally think World War II, the holocaust, and the millions who were impacted after
the horrible things he had done. Yes, Hitler was an awful and evil man, but he was also an intelligent
and tactical world leader who accomplished more in his short reign then some accomplished after
decades of being in power. Adolf Hitler was not just a psychotic and angry man, in fact, before
forming what we know now as the Nazi party, Hitler was little more than a patriot who wanted the
best for his country and the people in it. Starting during WWI Adolf attempted to join the German
soldiers and was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This showed Adolf had a strong presence in German politics and thus Hindenburg gave Adolf the
position of Chancellor to maintain political balance. In achieving this position, Adolf used it to form a
legal dictatorship. After a suspicious fire at parliament, Hitler was able to suspend basic rights and
allow detention without trial, as well as giving his cabinet full legislative powers for a period of four
years, allowing them to ignore the constitution. Hitler then sought to remove all other political
presence from Germany, which he officially did on July 14th, 1933 when the Nazi Party was officially
declared to be the only legal political party in Germany. October that same year Hitler withdrew
Germany from the League of Nations. Military opposition was punished as well when many SA
leaders, who had demanded more political and military power, as well as several political enemies of
Adolf were rounded up and shot. It didn t take long for Adolf to begin his abuse of the Jewish people.
April 1st, 1933 Hitler organized a boycott of Jewish run businesses and shops. This was part of his
initiative to remove Jewish people and basically all non Aryan people from all aspects of public

  • 2. The Theory of Attachment and Attachment Styles Essay examples Attachment is the emotional bond between humans, which is based on our relationship with a parent or early caregiver during the years of childhood. There are four different attachment styles secure, preoccupied, dismissive, and fearful each describing a different way in which individuals interact with others, approach social and romantic relationships, and deal with life. Each attachment style is divided along two dimensions the fear of abandonment and the fear of closeness. Bartholomew and Horowitz define fear of abandonment as the model of self which describes the belief of an individual to be either worthy of love and support or not (1991). They also define fear of closeness as the model of other which describes an individual s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The preoccupied attachment style is characterized by low fear of closeness and high fear of abandonment. Individuals classified as preoccupied have a negative model of themselves. Because preoccupies see themselves as unworthy of love and unsupportive, they tend to strive for self acceptance by gaining the acceptance of valued others (Bartholomew, 227) and would do everything to keep people in their life; Preoccupied individuals try to avoid any kind of conflict in order to make themselves loveable and others happy. Despite the fact that preoccupies often see others as trustworthy and available, they also feel that others do not care about them as much as they care about others. Somebody I would classify as preoccupied would be my ex boyfriend. He always felt that other people around him would not care as much about him as he cared about them. He was worried that I would not love him as much as he loved me and that I would not return his love. Whenever I broke up with him, he became upset; he talked to my parents and friends, texted me every day and tried to convince me to go back to him. • 3. Figurative Language In Jeanne Duprau s The City Of Ember In Jeanne DuPrau s book The City of Ember it takes place in a very dark city without power or electricity and nobody s happy. And when two kids are presented with the opportunity to help save their city and risk their lives, they are the ones who want to do so. They go on this journey and hit many obstacles on the way but they have the mindset to never give up and it may or may not help them. One theme that can be supported throughout the book is that when someone risks their life for others they can earn great respect from other people and other peers. The theme in the story The City of Ember is shown early on in the book and it is represented by using author s craft. The author s craft that is being used in the book is figurative language, such as similes and metaphors. She uses figurative language in many different ways that can support the theme. For example Fear had settled over the city. Lina felt it like a cold chill (Duprau 85). This is a good example of figurative language and it also supports the theme. This is a good example, because it is describing how bad the city is and also how Lina realized she needed to take charge in saving the city. Duprau also uses another good example of figurative language towards the beginning also. For instance it states in the book Once they are out the door, Lizzie said goodbye and scurried away as if Linas bad luck were a disease that she might catch (Duprau 58). This is a good representation because it is leading up to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Literary Devices In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier Eugenia Collier, the author of the short story Marigolds makes great use of literary devices such as imagery, diction, flashback, and juxtaposition in a way that creates a voice for the narrator that conveys both the regret over, and possibly the longing for her childhood. The diction, that is, the vocabulary choice is expertly combined with imagery, or the unique descriptions and sensory details, in order to allow the reader to formulate the experiences and the surroundings of the narrator s childhood in their imaginations. Flashback is used to allow the narrator to not only explain how she viewed the events of her past as a child, but to compare these views with her adult feelings of the same events. Juxtaposition aids in further explaining the connection between the setting and emotions of the main character, creating a better picture of the narrator s life. These elements all combine to construct a narrative that effectively conveys the coming of age theme. The first literary devices that are to be discussed are diction and imagery. Diction is the vocabulary demonstrated by the author, and how the objective and subjective meaning of the words and phrases the author chooses to utilize help construct and expand the narrative. An example of diction used uniquely by the author can be seen in paragraph twelve of Marigolds when this sentence is used: the idleness whose prospect had seemed so beautiful during the busy days of spring now had degenerated to an almost ... Thinking that just because you don t have to work since you are under 26 and quit your job to do more meaningful things, that is not necessarily considered a good, productive thing. But being one, a millennial that is, I also see the other side of the argument. I believe that we can be the most productive when we are passionate about something and the idea that non millennials have little to no faith in what we can accomplish has a very negative outcome in what we then actually do. We are very proud of who we are for the most part, and that may just be part of our generation s view on how life works, but generalizing every single child under 26 or 31 to say that they are not the most motivated and all we want is free stuff and to not have to work is not true. But could your mechanic have repaired something that could negatively affect the valuation of your vehicle? The answer may surprise you. A classic car isn t just expected to be running. Let s look at the top 5.5 things you can do to ensure your classic vehicle continues an upward valuation. 1. Parts When your vehicle was manufactured, the parts were all original factory pieces. Mechanics This is relatively obvious, but we want a classic car that works... like it did in its heyday. One of the biggest contributors to overall classic car value is the operation of the engine, transmission, steering, the state of the undercarriage and the, of course, general wear and tear such as mileage. 5.5 Original Documentation This doesn t necessarily guarantee an increase in value but simply because of how rare it is to have the original showroom documentation for classic vehicles, it does tend to be in the very least a cool addition to the vehicle s history and authenticity. All these things contribute to a category rating used to determine the value of your classic car. Issues in the mix often come from the balance itself. Many students find themselves overcommitted to sport while others find they are not able to compete. I will examine issues in interscholastic and collegiate sport. Sports cannot always be completely free due to issues outside the realm of sport, but it should be as inexpensive as possible to participate. Fees for high school sports should follow certain guidelines. First off, there should always be a minimum cost sport option for high school students. For example, any student should be allowed to participate in track and cross country since these sports require little to no equipment and have little limits on team size. Second, high schools should not make a net profit or loss on sports. High school sports should act as their own entities with their own funding from the school board, and they should never take from academics and vice versa. Third, different costs for sports should be controlled vehemently before charging fees to play. There should be no more than 1 paid coach per team, and if there is more than 1 paid coach, there should be no fees to play the sport since only one experienced coach should be needed to share knowledge with the entire team and volunteer coaches. Other controllable costs include equipment. Sports equipment and jerseys should be used for as long as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Dickens Use Satire In A Tale Of Two Cities Satire, or the use of exaggeration, incongruity, reversal, and parody to draw attention to and criticize the flaws of individual people or society as a whole, was used centuries ago and is still used today because of a satirist s ability to creatively address issues they see. Throughout A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens effectively uses satire to encourage social reform in a society he saw was in dire need of it. Describing Darnay s first trial, Dickens uses incongruity when comparing blue flies to the mob that has gathered to watch his trial. After the Attorney General had stopped talking, a buzz arose in the court as if a cloud of great blue flies were swarming about the prisoner, in anticipation of what he was soon to become (Dickens 69). A crowd of people is not the same thing as a swarm of flies, but by juxtaposing these two things, Dickens draws attention to the crowd s tendency to act like a swarm of flies obnoxious and unable to think for ... • 30. The Physics of Hockey Essays The Physics of Hockey Physics is everywhere. Consequently, physics is a part of sports and more specifically, hockey. As the scientific discoveries progressed with time, so did the advancements in the sport of hockey, reflecting on how important and influential science truly is. Physics takes part in the ice, the skates, the protective gear, the shots, goaltending, and all other aspects of ice hockey. Skates used to be more like skis. Players glided on the ice rather than actually skated. Artifacts also show the use of animal bones as skate blades as well. Currently, steal blades are used. There is a small arc groove on the blade that provides the friction needed to counteract the slipperiness of the ice (Haché 37). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This does not mean that there is more heat but rather heat is applied more quickly (Haché 24). The most basic and necessary skill in hockey is skating. Skating is made possible thanks to Newton s Third Law. With every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The blade applies force on the ice and the ice pushes back on the blade causing a forward movement. To accelerate, players exert a strong force on the lower part of their bodies by leaning forward. Gravity pulls down on a hockey player s center of mass which torques him forward (Exploratorium 1). Skaters also skate and accelerate while turning. Centripetal force enables the player to lean inward and create a sharp turn (Haché 50). Acceleration is negative for a braking skater and is determined by the friction force on the skate blade. To achieve this, the skater turns their skates perpendicular to the direction of motion and digs the blade into the ice, creating the greatest resistive force. The blade scrapes a layer of ice off the surface and the player comes to a stop (Exploratorium 1). Another large part of the sport is the physical contact. Hockey can turn into a brutal game with 220 pound men checking each other left and right. Because these men have large masses and fast velocities, they have a lot of kinetic energy. The energy of each player before the collision is K = ½ mv2 and afterward (because their collisions are inelastic) their total energy = ½ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

En route to Old Frenchman s Place, Temple Drake thinks of baseball players in the Saturday game she is missing as crouching, uttering short, yelping cries like marsh fowl disturbed by an alligator, not certain of where the danger is, motionless, poised (37). Korea was already one of China s most significant clients. Japan started to notice Korea for its geographic positioning and its natural resources (coal and iron). After Japan implemented Western technology, Korea was forced to expose itself to trade with Japan and proclaim independence from China. Japanese reformers attempted to overthrow the Korean government in 1884. Chinese troops rescued the king killing several Japanese guards in the process. War was evaded between the two countries by signing of the Li Ito convention, both countries had to withdraw troops from Korea. In 1894, Kim Ok kyun, a pro Japanese Korean leader of the 1884 rebellion, was invited to Shanghai and assassinated. His body was then placed aboard a Chinese warship and directed back to Korea, where it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Miklo is the very same case in Taylor Hackford s Blood In Blood Out who struggles to prove himself as a Chicano due to his white skin however culturally Miklo is as Chicano as anyone in Onda. The most important part of this dynamic, is that when Miklo gets arrested for killing spider, a rival gang leader, the prison gang system is divided by race and skin color all which he is stuck in the middle of. In prison, is where he would meet Magic a member of spider s gang which openly fought with Miklo s gang Vatos Locos. They quickly become friends despite their previous conflicts and confrontations between the two gangs because as Popeye mentioned everything is determined by race. This is relevant as in ... Only when Onda unites does everything go well, this in part was due to the murder of El Mero Mero. One major theme in Blood In Blood Out is that political and social improvements are inevitable once the Raza Unites. A similar case is discussed in Chapter 27 of En Aquel Entonces which discuss the La Raza Unida Party who in great part was influenced by the Black Power Movement which stressed pride in black culture. In a very similar ideology, La Raza Unida would have a nationalistic tone to it. In Blood In Blood Out, Onda mirrors the ideology of La Raza Unida as they both knew that to be represented equally they would have to take action and not just sit by and complain. As Onda united, they quickly took political and economic power in the prison system which they were previously so oppressed in; this is incredibly similar how La Raza Unida once they got Hispanics united, would sweep city council and school boards. However, in a similar way to Onda they lost power once they didn t have the support of their people and /or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Examples Of Self Centeredness In The Great Gatsby Self Centeredness in Gatsby Fitzgerald provides many themes in his book The Great Gatsby one of the main themes is how being self centered can easily overpower self morals. This theme is described in every character except Nick through what they are engaged in. The motif of self centeredness is frequently portrayed in Gatsby and gives an added comparison to Fitzgerald s theme of self centeredness. The first example of self centeredness in Gatsby is Jay Gatsby himself, by giving the reader a concrete example of being self centered. She never...except me. • 49. Examples Of Pride In Macbeth Agency of Pride The American author, speaker, and pastor John C. Maxwell explains how pride can have two different effects on people, There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. Good pride represents our dignity and self respect. Bad pride is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance ( John C Maxwell). This quote is evident in the lives and actions of Macbeth, Malcolm, and Macduff. Malcolm and Macduff pride were driven by confidence and obedience to their kingdom. Macbeth was faced with temptations that pressured his prideful trait for evil and cruel deeds. Macbeth s pride and desires cloud his judgment which led to the lies, betrayals, and murders. The play of Macbeth clearly illustrates how Macbeth did have agency during his temptations. One example of Macbeth s agency of pride that is expressed during the play is the willpower that Macbeth has to control his actions during the first meeting with the witches. In this interaction, the witches only tell him half of the prophecy By Sinel s death I know I am Thane of Glamis. But how of Cawdor? The Thane of Cawdor lives, A prosperous gentleman, and to be king Stands not within the prospect of belief, No more than to be Cawdor. Say from whence You owe this strange intelligence, or why Upon this blasted heath you stop our way With such prophetic greeting (Shakespeare). The encounter with the witches demonstrates how Macbeth had power over his response to the witches because he had two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Michael Bonney Mr. Saleeba English 4 14, March 2018 The Accomplishments and Mistakes of Pure Evil When you hear the name Adolf Hitler, you will generally think World War II, the holocaust, and the millions who were impacted after the horrible things he had done. Yes, Hitler was an awful and evil man, but he was also an intelligent and tactical world leader who accomplished more in his short reign then some accomplished after decades of being in power. Adolf Hitler was not just a psychotic and angry man, in fact, before forming what we know now as the Nazi party, Hitler was little more than a patriot who wanted the best for his country and the people in it. Starting during WWI Adolf attempted to join the German soldiers and was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This showed Adolf had a strong presence in German politics and thus Hindenburg gave Adolf the position of Chancellor to maintain political balance. In achieving this position, Adolf used it to form a legal dictatorship. After a suspicious fire at parliament, Hitler was able to suspend basic rights and allow detention without trial, as well as giving his cabinet full legislative powers for a period of four years, allowing them to ignore the constitution. Hitler then sought to remove all other political presence from Germany, which he officially did on July 14th, 1933 when the Nazi Party was officially declared to be the only legal political party in Germany. October that same year Hitler withdrew Germany from the League of Nations. Military opposition was punished as well when many SA leaders, who had demanded more political and military power, as well as several political enemies of Adolf were rounded up and shot. It didn t take long for Adolf to begin his abuse of the Jewish people. April 1st, 1933 Hitler organized a boycott of Jewish run businesses and shops.
