I begin preparation about two weeks prior to sermon date of September 19. Using the 2017 Official
United Methodist Program Calendar I found that I had originally chosen to continue the Romans
theme as in my past three weeks, so going off lectionary, with Romans 14:13 23. But looking ahead I
decided to combine that on September 17th so I could choose Psalm 78:1 7 (lectionary) instead. This
spoke to me as a way to preach about baptism. Since my pre planning in August, a family has decided
to have their 18 month old baptized on September 24.
I read the scripture three times throughout the day and initially noticed at the very beginning the
mention of telling parables and uttering hidden meanings. This intrigued me. Also the mention of the
word children several times seems to relate to the baptism well.
A few days later I reread the scripture and the word generation jumped out at me as well as put their
trust in God and would not forget . How has the understanding of baptism changed since it began, or
even since my baptism or my children s baptisms? I looked at my Worship Annual for the week of

When I reflect on everything that has happened thus far in my lifetime, I am amazed at how far I have
come. I was born on May 31st, 1998. My mom was in college when she had me, and my father
worked two jobs to support the family. They worked incredibly hard to make sure that I had a good

On 01/07/2017 at approximately 2258 hours, while patrolling the town of Dolores, I observed two
males at the front door of the Dolores Liquor Store located at 202 South 3rd Street, Town of Dolores,
County of Montezuma, State of Colorado.
Dolores Liquor store is located on the corner of Railroad Avenue and 3rd Street. The front door faces
east and is the only customer access. There are two doors at the front that are recessed into the
building and covered. The north door accesses the liquor store and the south door access the office but
is not utilized.
The Dolores Liquor Store was closed for business and I did not observe any vehicles in the parking

Isabelle Boyce explained that on today s date, they realized that a security camera located at the front
of the store was damaged and after reviewing their surveillance, determined that the camera was in
working order until 01/07/2017 at 2250 hours.
I responded to the Dolores Liquor store at approximately ** hours and spoke with Isabelle Boyce. She
stated that they contacted the security company for assistance in downloading the captured
surveillance footage. I viewed the surveillance and observed three individuals walk in the area and to
the Dolores Liquor Store at approximately 2238 hours. While walking southeast toward the building,
one of the males looks toward the camera. He appears to be wearing khaki colored jeans and a hooded
jacket. The jacket appears to have blue sleeves, a large blue pocket located directly in front of the
jacket and extends for both hands and the chest portion of the jacket appears to be patterned with
words across the chest. He also appears to be wearing yellow in color skater style shoes. At
approximately 2255 hours, the male appears to now have a white covering over his jacket and face
and while utilizing a large wood object resembling a wooden dowel, he approaches the camera and
smashes the camera. I took digital photographs of the male but the images are distorted and not clear.

The Height Of Colonialism Between The 18th And 20th Century
During the height of colonialism between the 17th and 20th century, almost all of Asia was at one
point either directly taken as a colonial possession, or was strongly influenced politically and
economically by a colonial power. The exception to this was Siam (now Thailand) which has
remained largely independent despite colonial pressure on all its borders (with the exception of the
concession of what is now Laos and Burma). For the sake of brevity and consistency, this essay will
only be dealing with events from between the early 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century.
During this period, the biggest threats to Siamese independence were the British to the west, and the
French to the east. As seen by the map below, by 1901, British influence (indicated by the red) had
extended to encompass the north and west of Siam (indicated by the bottom right green), while French
influence (indicated by the blue) covered the east of Siam. As Siam was surrounded by either French
or British colonies, it meant that other Western colonial powers would need to contest French or
British territories before it would be able to consider colonising Siam. Figure 1 part of a larger map of

buffer between France and Britain would allow it room to maneuver in diplomatic relations, even in
