• The creators of this magazine have used a range of different colours to be appropriate to certain parts of their
magazine. For example on the cover of the magazine they have used bright, vibrant and bold colours to grab the
audiences attention when they first see the magazine. This also helps in increasing the chances of the audience wanting
to buy the product because from doing my own research I have discovered that the main feature that matters to the

• The cover photo has been made in a studio with custom lighting and has been created with certain props and characters
to make it better suited for the audience who is going to read the magazine however the photo on the double page
spread is a photo that has just been taken in the moment after a consumer of the magazine has won a prize and the
creator of the magazine wanted to capture how happy she is to entice other people to buy the magazine and win the
prize increasing their overall profit.
• This magazine heavily revolves around pictures rather then text which has its advantages and disadvantages. For
example it will mainly attract the audience who finds a magazine with mainly pictures appealing however because of
the lack of information it will be a lot harder for the audience to find the information that they need on the
advertisements, articles, reviews, etc. causing the audience to possibly lose interest in the magazine or find it un-
appealing because they are not able to get all the information that they need.
• The masthead font choice helps to get the attention of the intended target audience and suits the theme of a modern
looking magazine. However the masthead is a different colour from all other text on the cover meaning that it’s the first
thing the audience sees, because of this the creator has used a interesting masthead to make the audience more
tempted to read the magazine. However for other information on the cover they have used more basic text so that the
audience can easily find the information that they might want. For example the authors name is in a basic white font so
that it is clear and easy to be seen.

• The creator of this magazine has focused on using a very strict color scheme and font throughout their magazine.
However this doesn’t effect the likeliness of the magazine catching the audiences attention because the three colors
that they have focused on help to make each other stand out. For example the light baby blue makes the white and
black parts of the magazine more bold and stand out more then if the colors where grey and black. They have also used
these different colors to make the most important information stand out. For example on this magazine cover that I
found the creator has wrote everything in black except from the date of when the event is happening and the masthead
describing to the audience what the magazine is going to be talking about. This means that the audience will know the
key parts of the articles before they even read the first page and because the creator has put this information in bold at
the top of the magazine the audience will most likely read this information when just walking past the magazine helping
to catch their eye and get their attention.
• The cover photo has been made using the program Photoshop with an image that has been taken in a studio where the
creator of the magazine can choose what he wants the image on the cover to look like by deciding what lighting, props,
character and features he wants to add to it to make it best suited for their target audience to increase the chances of
them seeing the product and finding it appealing. However for the double page spread they haven't used a studio but
they have edited what they want the image to look like by specifically choosing where to take the picture, what
characters they want and how they want them to look. In this magazine they have chosen to make them have a Jewish
sense of style because on the double page spread they are talking about a Jewish film festival. The image that they have
used for the double page spread has also been taken in an interesting to help grab the audiences attention when
flicking through the magazine by adding four men in expensive suits, in a sunny environment. This has been done to
hopefully make the audience stop on that page and more likely to read the information.
• I would say that this magazine has chosen to have a larger picture ratio on the cover whereas inside the magazine on
the double page spreads they have a much larger text ratio then pictures. This could be because this magazine is strictly
about a certain subject rather then a magazine that talks about a range of different topics. So they don’t need to have a
large amount of information on the cover because if they don’t like the topic of the magazine which is stated on the
masthead then they will find the information in the magazine un-appealing.

• I think the creator of this magazine has used only a few different colors but has focused on using a wide range of
different shades to make their magazine more appealing and to have a bigger effect on their audience. For example the
different shades on the cover and double page spread help to add more depth to the pictures making the magazine
much more visually appealing as well as helping to make certain parts of the pictures stand out such as information or
just parts of images that the creator thinks will make the audience want to read their magazine because it looks
interesting and stands out to the rest.
• The cover photo that has been used is different to most magazine covers. This is because this magazine is a travel
magazine so the photos used in the magazine will be images of events and exotic locations to attract the audience. This
cover image will help to attract the audience because the image that is used is of something the day to day person
wouldn't normally see making them curious and wanting to find out more of where the picture has been taken and if
the magazine will give them a chance to go there by either giving them a special offer or just giving the audience
information about the location telling them where it is. Whereas the double page spread has an equal amount of
information and pictures so that it appeals to both sides of the audience, the ones who prefer information and the ones
who prefer images rather then large amounts of information.
• The makers of this magazine have also used a different design for their masthead which many magazine company's
don’t use this helps to make the magazine seem more interesting because it isn’t something that is common for the
audience to see meaning that its more likely to get their attention. However the masthead may be bold and in much
larger text then any other information on the cover but it is used in a very simple font. This can be un-appealing to some
people because it can be seen as boring or bland however to other audiences it can be seen as professional and
trustworthy because the text symbolizes strong and professionalism.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?-
• All of my researched products have unique mastheads that are appropriate to
their magazine design or topics that they discuss.
• They have all used an equal amount of text to picture ratio on their double
page spreads.
• Each magazine has used colour schemes that match or complement each
other for their double pages and covers.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
• I will use a equal picture to text ratio to make my magazine appeal to a much
wider audience
• I will also use the idea of sticking to a similar colour scheme for both the cover
and double page spread to show that those pages are talking about a similar
topic.

Although the magazine doesn’t keep the • The cover photo has been made in a studio with custom lighting and has been created with certain props and characters to make it better suited for the audience who is going to read the magazine however the photo on the double page spread is a photo that has just been taken in the moment after a consumer of the magazine has won a prize and the creator of the magazine wanted to capture how happy she is to entice other people to buy the magazine and win the prize increasing their overall profit. • This magazine heavily revolves around pictures rather then text which has its advantages and disadvantages. For example it will mainly attract the audience who finds a magazine with mainly pictures appealing however because of the lack of information it will be a lot harder for the audience to find the information that they need on the advertisements, articles, reviews, etc. causing the audience to possibly lose interest in the magazine or find it un- appealing because they are not able to get all the information that they need. • The masthead font choice helps to get the attention of the intended target audience and suits the theme of a modern looking magazine. However the masthead is a different colour from all other text on the cover meaning that it’s the first thing the audience sees, because of this the creator has used a interesting masthead to make the audience more tempted to read the magazine. However for other information on the cover they have used more basic text so that the audience can easily find the information that they might want. For example the authors name is in a basic white font so that it is clear and easy to be seen.

  • 5. Existing Product • The creator of this magazine has focused on using a very strict color scheme and font throughout their magazine. However this doesn’t effect the likeliness of the magazine catching the audiences attention because the three colors that they have focused on help to make each other stand out. For example the light baby blue makes the white and black parts of the magazine more bold and stand out more then if the colors where grey and black. They have also used these different colors to make the most important information stand out. For example on this magazine cover that I found the creator has wrote everything in black except from the date of when the event is happening and the masthead describing to the audience what the magazine is going to be talking about. This means that the audience will know the key parts of the articles before they even read the first page and because the creator has put this information in bold at the top of the magazine the audience will most likely read this information when just walking past the magazine helping to catch their eye and get their attention. • The cover photo has been made using the program Photoshop with an image that has been taken in a studio where the creator of the magazine can choose what he wants the image on the cover to look like by deciding what lighting, props, character and features he wants to add to it to make it best suited for their target audience to increase the chances of them seeing the product and finding it appealing. However for the double page spread they haven't used a studio but they have edited what they want the image to look like by specifically choosing where to take the picture, what characters they want and how they want them to look. In this magazine they have chosen to make them have a Jewish sense of style because on the double page spread they are talking about a Jewish film festival. The image that they have used for the double page spread has also been taken in an interesting to help grab the audiences attention when flicking through the magazine by adding four men in expensive suits, in a sunny environment. This has been done to hopefully make the audience stop on that page and more likely to read the information. • I would say that this magazine has chosen to have a larger picture ratio on the cover whereas inside the magazine on the double page spreads they have a much larger text ratio then pictures. This could be because this magazine is strictly about a certain subject rather then a magazine that talks about a range of different topics. So they don’t need to have a large amount of information on the cover because if they don’t like the topic of the magazine which is stated on the masthead then they will find the information in the magazine un-appealing.

  • 7. Existing Product • I think the creator of this magazine has used only a few different colors but has focused on using a wide range of different shades to make their magazine more appealing and to have a bigger effect on their audience. For example the different shades on the cover and double page spread help to add more depth to the pictures making the magazine much more visually appealing as well as helping to make certain parts of the pictures stand out such as information or just parts of images that the creator thinks will make the audience want to read their magazine because it looks interesting and stands out to the rest. • The cover photo that has been used is different to most magazine covers. This is because this magazine is a travel magazine so the photos used in the magazine will be images of events and exotic locations to attract the audience. This cover image will help to attract the audience because the image that is used is of something the day to day person wouldn't normally see making them curious and wanting to find out more of where the picture has been taken and if the magazine will give them a chance to go there by either giving them a special offer or just giving the audience information about the location telling them where it is. Whereas the double page spread has an equal amount of information and pictures so that it appeals to both sides of the audience, the ones who prefer information and the ones who prefer images rather then large amounts of information. • The makers of this magazine have also used a different design for their masthead which many magazine company's don’t use this helps to make the magazine seem more interesting because it isn’t something that is common for the audience to see meaning that its more likely to get their attention. However the masthead may be bold and in much larger text then any other information on the cover but it is used in a very simple font. This can be un-appealing to some people because it can be seen as boring or bland however to other audiences it can be seen as professional and trustworthy because the text symbolizes strong and professionalism.
  • 8. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have?- • All of my researched products have unique mastheads that are appropriate to their magazine design or topics that they discuss. • They have all used an equal amount of text to picture ratio on their double page spreads. • Each magazine has used colour schemes that match or complement each other for their double pages and covers. • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? • I will use a equal picture to text ratio to make my magazine appeal to a much wider audience • I will also use the idea of sticking to a similar colour scheme for both the cover and double page spread to show that those pages are talking about a similar topic.
