3. Terrain, Architecture And Objects
The Terrain For The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess looks to be more pixelated than
most more recent games as it is a game created in 2006. It is seen to be set in a village
type environment, it is said to be set centuries after the Ocarina of Time, the first game
within the ‘Zelda’ series. The area is a pretty deserted one with little built up areas. It is a
fantasy type world, with unrealistic elements, such as the clothing and potions you can
buy in the shop. The architecture can be seen as very animated and not very realistic
because it was created as more of a retro game. The houses within the game are all built
in or around trees; treehouses. The objects that are in the game are not typically used in
games at the very beginning, such as pumpkins and fishing rods to fish. The animals
shown within the game are obviously realistic with the movements they make. The
clothing he characters wear is not realistic and more what you would see in a fantasy
world, such as leaves, grass blades, pieces of bark from trees and old cotton used as
clothing.

4. Characters And Avatar
The main character in The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, is one called link. He is
the only playable character and is the only one played throughout the game. All other
characters are controlled by the computer, such as Princess Zelda, Midna and the
Bulblins. During the game, Link transitions into a wolf because of being taken into a
different realm and turned by one of his enemies, you can also control the wolf,
however that is because it is Link. The horse link rides during the game is controlled by
the audience member as you are still controlling Link, just via the horse. None of the
characters within the game are dress specifically realistic, again going to back to the
previous slide, all the clothes are made from old cotton and leaves and branches. The
weapons used are all based on reality, such as the swords and bow and arrows. The
only unrealistic weapons there is, is the rock on the end of a piece of wood the Bulblins
use to attack the village.

5. Artistic Styles
The artistic styles within this game are Cel-Shading and Exaggerated. The graphics of
the characters are based on 2d designs, however appear to be 3d when looking on a
TV / computer screen. The reason why they are also exaggerated is because the design
of the characters is very point to point, there's o curves or edges. If you look closely at
the characters in Twilight Princess you will notice that their eyes have been designed
larger than what most human eyes would look to be like. The horse that Link also rides
is exaggerated with its movements and the way it has been drawn is how you would
stereotypically draw a horse. They use 2D graphics within this game that give off a 3D
perspective when playing the game.

6. Feedback Interface
The game wasn’t originally playable on the Wii. The creator, Eiji Aonuma, had to delay
the release date of the game, November 2005 to December 2006 because Nintendo
wanted to re-create it for it to be played on the Wii. The game was originally only to
be played via GameCube, but Nintendo wanted their audiences to be able to play the
game as well. Aonuma was hesitant to let the game be delayed another year, but let it
go through anyway. There isn’t any feedback interface within the game, except that
you have to use a nunchuck in order to move and use the main controller for
weapons.

7. Perspectives
The game perspective of Zelda is third person. You are able to see the character you
are playing from behind and most of the surroundings around and in front of you. The
game was created with a 3D atmosphere, obviously being in the third person also. As
well as the game being in 3D and third person, there is a map at the bottom left hand
side of the screen so game players are aware of what part of the animated world they
are in. The game player is identified as a small yellow circle that moves as the
character does within the game.

8. Cut Scenes
There are several occurrences within Zelda where cut scenes happen, as they use
these to help with tell the story of the game. The put subtitles at the bottom of the
screen as the characters are supposedly speaking another language so game players
aren’t able to understand. Link is also known to not talk at all throughout the game.
There are some theories that he does talk however, game players just don’t get to
hear what he is saying.

9. Game Type
The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess is an action-adventure game that is only
available to one player. The aim of the game is to rescue the Twilight Princess ands try
not to get murdered yourself. As it is only a one player game, all actions taken are on
yourself and you are responsible to stay alive yourself, as well as try and rescue the
Twilight Princess. You have to defeat enemies and make friendships along the way in
order to help with the storyline of the game. Once rescued, the Twilight Princess,
Zelda, finds herself in more troubling, meaning Link must rescue her from that as well.
The game is set in another world, centuries after the ‘Ocarina Of Time’ game. It isn’t
known what time period the game was created in as the creators made up their own
time zones for the game itself. There aren’t any difficulty settings within the game it’s
just a simple hit play and that’s it.

10. Inventory
The Twilight Princess involves a lot of items being in the inventory. There is always
something in the cupboard or Link’s bag that is needed throughout the game, there
are also ways that you can create new weapons and potions by mixing others
together. The main items in the inventory are swords and some form of weapons that
are either found, created or given by other characters during the game.

11. Winning
You don’t specifically win or lose during this game, more complete it. There are
fighting mini games with other characters where if you lose you get set back a bit
within the game and have to re do some of the quests you have already done,
however if you win the fight you continue on where you left off.

12. Addiction
Video game addiction is very common within young people and in some severe cases
adults. In 2013 it was seen as a mental disorder that should’ve been discovered much
earlier as a lot of people suffer with this and do need professional help as it begins to
affect their everyday life. Based on a personal experience, someone close to me had
video game addiction when they were twelve, screaming at their parent when they
told them to turn the video game off and began to start throwing things around the
room. Clinics are now open to help people with video game addiction and I would
recommend anyone to arrange to see someone and get the help they need as it could
affect their future life. Some people have died because of this disorder, and with the
correct advice and help, maybe something could’ve been done to stop that.

13. Concept Art
There was a lot of concept art designed before this video game was complete. This
helped the game designers to comprehend what their main characters were to look
like once fully drawn up.

14. In Game Interface
Within the Twilight princess game there is an in game interface, with an option to hide
it if necessary. There is usually a word or words that come up on the screen when
there is an enemy coming close to attack Link. There are also warnings if Link is in
front of a building that tells him what the building is, i.e. his own home or the spell
shop.
