The Psychological Effects Of War In Danielle Trussoni s...
Forty two years has passed since the Fall of Saigon 1975, yet still the Vietnam War and its aftermath
are not forgotten. The first of the wars that was publicly broadcasted, earned the Vietnam War the
name Television War. Despite the public s division on the war, young men filled with patriotism and
purpose went off to battle. These men unskilled to fight in the jungles of Vietnam, would soon learn
the harsh realities of war. The authors of the novels , Falling Through the Earth and Matterhorn use
their characters to highlight the psychological effects of war. Compared to the physical wounds caused
by war, the psychological wounds were more damaging and lasted even after the war was over. Both
novels focused on the topic of war. In the novel Falling Through the Earth, Danielle Trussoni recounts
her childhood growing up with her father who served during the Vietnam War as a tunnel rat. Despite
having left the war, Danielle s father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dan arrives into the Vietnam war during the Tet Offensive, which was a major turning point in the war
and a later reason for America s withdrawal. Many people saw the war as a failure including Robert
Kennedy, the son of JFK who was president during the beginning of the war. In fact, Robert believed
if America unable to defeat our enemy or break his will...must actively seek a peaceful settlement.
Towards the ending, the Vietnam War became an unwinnable conflict for America. Whether, a war
was successful or not, being in those conditions came with a price. For Dan, his consequences of the
war was living everyday with his severe PTSD. Although not physically hurt, Dan suffered from
overly alertness, emotional numbness, paranoia and nightmares. In fact, his symptoms were not
diagnosed until 35 years after he served, showing that psychological effects were harmful and long

Teotihuacan
City of the gods, temple of the sun and moon, these names sound like places out of an Indiana Jones
movie, however the idea had to come from some place. That place is the ancient city of Teotihuacan,
Mexico. Teotihuacan is found north east of Mexico City in the flat plain lands of the Mexican valley .
Named by the Aztecs who found the abandoned city, they marveled at the massive scale of the
buildings and the city itself. The only reasonable explanation the Aztecs could provide was that gods
had made the city. Little did they know that Teotihuacan was a bustling city that was around from
about 150b.c. 750a.d., and a population as high as 200,000 .Teotihuacan is massive in scale for the
ancient world, dispersed over an area of approximately 20 square kilometers. This ancient place is a
perfect example of a city, it has a high population, a well thought out street system, early factories, and
massive temples which towered over the land scape. The architecture and general environment set
Teotihuacan apart as at least the crown jewel of Mesoamerica.
The general lay out of the city was a grid with a massive central avenue know as the street of the dead
. Located on this avenue were 3 other massive structures the temple of the moon, temple of the sun,
and the Ciudadela. Surrounding these major structures was As many as 2,000 compounds... with each

Authoritarianism In Nazi Germany
The events of Nazi Germany 1939 1945 influenced psychological research. Psychologists considered
whether there was a particular type of person who is more likely to commit this type of aggression
(McAvoy, 2012, p.24). Adorno et al from the University of California, suggested that some people
have a specific kind of personality that makes them susceptible to extremist ideologies and predispos
es them to commit acts of aggression and murder in the name of political ideology. They called this
the authoritarian personality (McAvoy,2012, p.24). Nevis Sanford and a PhD student Daniel Levin son

For ethical reasons, he could not ex periment on human infants so decided on rhesus macaques, a

observed that they would protest when it was removed(Custance,2012,p.201).He saw that despite the
monkeys having all their needs in food and shelter cared for they bonded with the only soft object.
From this he hypothesized that the specif ic tactile qualities of the what provided stimuli were more
important than food. The monkeys share 94 percent of DNA which meant he could better apply the

it to feed when it did not have the bottle itself before returning to the warmth and comfort. In one

Cultural Differences and Global Marketing
Cultural differences and global marketingCultural differences and global marketing
The progress of humanity and human beings can be attributed to one important factor and that is the
strong capability of human beings to understand and adapt to cultural differences. Respecting cultural
differences has brought the human beings close together and has tied them in a strong bond. The
conquering of the cultural differences has also introduced us to a new terminology, global economy,
which is a global system of production, distribution and consumption. The world has become a
singular unit because the pace of economic development has accelerated due to an increase in
marketing not only at a local level, but also at a global level. Global ... Show more content on

The advertising laws and laws of promotional activities differ from country to country. The qualities
of products admissible in one state may differ from what is permissible in some other state. Thus, the
types of promotion are influenced by cultural differences. Apart from the legal factors, cultural and
technical factors also influence the promotional activities. The demographic and geographic
differences in the newspapers and television coverage and the association and link with the Internet
also play an important role in the regulation of the promotion package. Consumer goods cannot opt for
global standardized options, but the industrial products can select the best marketing strategy to cross
the barriers of legal, technical and cultural issues and choose a standardized global option.
The distribution of goods, the fourth global marketing mix factor, is also dependent on the cultural
differences. The distribution of consumer goods is affected by the wholesaling and retailing systems
whereas the distribution of other products is influenced by the transport and logistical systems. The
transport systems, logistical systems, wholesale systems and retail systems differ across the European
countries because of legal issues. The cultural differences in these systems across the world have a
direct impact on the distribution of products. For example, in some countries a wide range of products
can be sold in the retailing outlets while in other

The Portrayal Of Women Of Contemporary Rap Videos
The aim of this study is examine the portrayal of women in contemporary rap videos, and to see if it
could be potentially harmful. Unfortunately within the music industry like many industries sex sells,
and the media has brought to light this fixation. Hip hop has persuaded a large portion of society that
this is how women should be treated, but new times call for new measures and it is time that people
realise this and give women the respect and dignity that many believe they surly deserve. In the rap
world, women are a status of success, and they are treated almost as trophies: a way for rappers to
show that they have made it to the top of their game. It is not that rappers feel that women are inferior,
but they feel treating women like a collector s item is how they should go about flaunting their new
found success. Rappers always try to have the best looking girls in their videos, which make other
people, predominantly young men, think how they are living the high life, being able to get the best
looking girls, girls they could only dream of getting. The intent of this façade is to simply make
money, but rappers do not realise how much of an impact their music is having on the younger
generations. When the younger generation watch television and see artists throw money in the air,
with expensive cars and women, that image is stored in their minds as the definition of success. They
begin to believe the idea that in order to accomplish success, you must have beautiful

The Conflict Within The Family, By Alison Bechdel, Joan...
Families, which are basic units of human commit, are constructed from individuals with unique
character; these individuals taken as a whole, construct the larger character of the family itself.
However, because no individual s character is perfectly compatible with another s, there exist
inevitable conflict within the family, such as can be expressed as conflict between the self and either
another single member or the entire group. Naturally, the rational self will seek to ameliorate such as
conflict, perhaps by simply accepting it as a natural part of human life. Other instances, which form
the basis of the essay and find roots in essays by Alison Bechdel, Joan Didion, and Richard Rodriguez,
occur when such acceptance does not. I strongly suggest that the common response to familial
conflict, avoidance, that is, escaping the friction between human characters by refusing on some level
to participate in family, introduces a new conflict. While Didion, Bechdel, and Rodriguez, provide
textual support to the birth of this second conflict, I shall seek to explain its nature. Born of
contrasting characters in family and self, conflict will not be replaced, but bolstered in avoidance.
Thus, in acceptance, the self finds resolution. Though I say it nonetheless, it is fairly obvious that most
people participate in some kind of a familial unit as previously described, and thus are familiar with
the conflicts to which I alluded. The piece by Joan Didion, entitled On Going

the perfect tip to get the disney studio out of bankruptcy. A risky move and the first of its kind is
snowhite. That was Walt disney s tipping point and because of the man he was it took off. Many
factors contributed to why it did so well like the time it came out was in the great depression and

Analytical Essay The Skeleton Council by Katherine Leyton
The Skelton Council by Katherine Leyton was published in Volume 36 No. 4 of Contemporary Verse 2
during the spring of 2014. The poem opens on a house inhabited by a woman and a group of skeletons
that meet every evening for examination. One night, the woman blinks and sees a doppelganger of
herself in an empty room. The Skeleton Council by Katherine Leyton uses symbolism, imagery, and
style to express the oppressive nature of family secrets and their distortive and obsessive effects on the
narrator.
In The Skeleton Council, Leyton uses the skeletons as a symbol for the family secrets that plague the
narrator. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first half of the poem is comprised of a more complex syntax than the second half. The sentences
in the first half are longer, averaging 3 lines each and use a more descriptive diction with words such
as anxious (line 3), encouraging (line 5), and sideboards (line 2). This heavier style brings forward an
oppressive element as the meaning is trapped behind dense language. In the second half, the style
becomes more simplistic with sentences averaging 1 2 lines and word choice becoming more concise.
This change in style clearly presents the meaning in the second half taking away the oppressive
atmosphere and reinforcing the distortion of the narrators feelings.
In The Skeleton Council by Katherine Leyton, the symbolism of skeletons as well as the juxtaposition
that imagery and style form with the narrator s feelings are utilized throughout the poem. These
elements help to express the oppressive nature of un earthed secrets in the narrator s life and the
distortive and obsessive effects they have on

Cold Little Bird Character Analysis
Cold Little Bird, a short story by Ben Marcus, is about an intelligent young boy whose parents
struggle coping with his emotional detachment. Throughout the story, the boy s father, Martin, has the
reader questioning whether or not there actually is a problem with Jonah or whether he is over
reacting. Through various scenes in the story one may conclude that it is combination of both.
A Cold Little Bird is told through the point of view of the father, Martin. Martin is portrayed as a
loving father figure who cares about the well being of all his family members. When his eldest son
shuts he and his wife out, Martin is at first perplexed. He even goes so far as to view Jonah s coldness
as a challenge (Marcus 1). The longer Martin lets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scholte further claims that a child who expresses emotional detachment also shows other signs of
delinquency such as stealing and bullying (Scholte 1). Scholte in a different article defines the state of
emotional detachment as a psychopathic syndrome (Scholte 1).
The act of touching and hugging is a big theme in Cold Little Bird. One of the first things Jonah
refuses his parents is touching or hugging him. When Martin was finally fed up with his son s
rejection and forced a hug, Jonah froze and said he did not understand why his father kept refusing to
allow him his basic request. What is alarming is how Jonah threatens to tell the school counselor that
his parents touch him when he does not want them to. As a result of the reader knowing the truth about
the touching and how the school will interpret the child s words, Martin and the reader are horrified at
the implications the youth is making. This would lead both the reader and Martin to question just how
normal the child is in fact. It might also lead one to wonder whether another adult has molested Jonah
because ten year olds are usually not aware of such issues. Levy describes the emotional detachment
and not wanting to be touched as the fault of Martin. He explains that Martin acts detached and uses
the example of the bedroom scene where Martin almost seems mechanical (Levy 1). I do not entirely
agree with this because Martin appears

Data In completing the CAP, I administered the Phonemic Awareness Skills Screener (PASS) to five

attached in the submission of the document. In looking at the raw data that I collected on my student s
phonemic awareness skills the area that every student needed to work on was phoneme segmentation
or phoneme deletion. Since I was working with a very small class size and a very limited time frame, I
grouped all five of the students that I assessed in one small group. This worked nicely because student

The Death Of A Bullet
Bang! A gunshot went off at night in the town of Hartsville, Montana. Diana Dixon died at 60 years of
age. The police found her body when the neighbors called them. It was that same night her son David
was found with blood on his coat. Diana was murdered and the town was in shock.
The police took David to the station questioning him about the night his mother was murdered. David
was the son of Diana Dixon, who adopted him as well as his sister Jennifer. He worked at a gas station
just down the road from his house, the place his mother was murdered.
At the crime scene, the shell of a bullet was found as well as footprints belonging to someone with
size 13 shoes. The same size David wore. The blood belonging to Diana, type AB+, was found on
David. David would keep telling the police he didn t kill his mother. In fact, David and his mother got
along well. They spent time together and went to church every Sunday. Everybody thought David was
guilty, except for one man who was about to uncover the facts.

Sun Tzu Theory In The Horn Of Africa
Sun Tzu s Theory in the Horn of Africa s Security Challenge
Introduction
The greater Horn of Africa (HoA) is the sub region of the Eastern part of Africa that composed of
Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Uganda. Threats to peace and
security are interconnected and comprised various human insecurities that emanate from both
intrastate and interstate conflict, and transnational security threats such as terrorism. This is because
political, social, and security problems in the region further threaten development efforts and
complicate interventions to alleviate, the various related challenges of the region. Mainly, Terrorism
has been a source of serious security challenge to the Horn of Africa peace and development process.
As terrorism is the main security challenge of the Horn of Africa region, Sun Tzu s theory is relevant
in the war with terrorist organizations operated in the greater Horn of Africa. For these countries could
helpful in curbing the terrorist threat, if they examine Sun Tzu s theory offensive strategy according to
the existing context of the terrorist threat. The offensive strategy first should focus on attacking the
terrorist s strategy, and then their allies because the main strength of the terrorist is the strategy they
follow. Giving priority on attacking the terrorist s strategy would eliminate fertile ground for terrorist
organizations motive. Therefore, this paper will evaluate, and analyze Sun Tzu s theory such

On July 7th 2011, Verisign issued a statement declaring that all .com, .net, .org and many other
domain names would become under United States (US) jurisdiction. Websites containing these
domain names, which were registered outside of US, have encountered various implications for
multiple reasons. Firstly, although these websites are registered in a country other than the US, they
are subjected to US law despite the fact that the registrar might be living in a country with
differentiating laws. The Bodog.com case is a clear example of this. Secondly, the US now has

It is clear that the online gaming industry is legal under international law and in the case of these
documents it is also clear that the rule of law was not allowed to slow down a rush to try to win the
war of public opinion. This quotation explains the US internet jurisdiction precisely. Bodog.com did
not accept any US bettors and had restricted access to US citizens and the US has no connections with
this website. Online gaming is legal in many international countries and this clearly shows the
unnecessary abuse of power by the US. If this case had been judged prior to this change in approach,
Ayre would have been found not guilty and Bodog.com would still be up and running. Moreover, not
only can the US seize a website, but it can also make the registrar of the website stand trial in the US,
if the authorities of the registrar s country decide not to act. This occurred with Richard O Dwyer, a
twenty three year old United Kingdom (UK) resident, created tvshack.net, a website which hosted
links to pirated material, but did not host the material itself (U.S. Claims Global Jurisdiction of .net

unfair to them since they already pay a high amount. They are also concerned because since it is a
government issued change, they do not believe it is fair to charge the public for something they have
no control over.
Although many people will have to either buy a new set or buy a digital box, not all televisions will
require a converter. Many companies are saying that Cable customers should see no disruption in
service... if their technicians are permitted to use a method called down conversion
(http://www.news.com). In this process, the companies rewire the signal making the conversion occur
along the cable wires instead of in each individual home. This will relieve tension on the consumer s
end and enable the cable companies to keep their customers happy.
The deadline for this conversion to digital technology has been pushed back multiple times due to
scheduliing inabilities, concerns about the change and technological

Macbeth Rhetorical Devices Essay
Ray Comfort, a New Zealand evangelist, once said: Rhetoric, which is the use of language to inform
or persuade, is very important in shaping public opinion. We are very easily fooled by language and
how it is used by others. Rhetoric can be used to inform, persuade, and inspire. Writers will use
rhetoric to shape their characters feelings and attitudes. The writers want the characters to differ, so
they can represent the different factions of the human persona. This personality is created by the
character s usage of rhetorical devices, such as diction, dialect, or tone. A character s attitude towards
other characters is shaped by their rhetoric as well. In William Shakespeare s Macbeth and John
Bunyan s Pilgrim s Progress, two fantastical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She speaks with sharp words riddled with rhetorical questions. When she is given Macbeth s letter, her
following monologue is full of nefarious emotion: Come you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts,
unsex me here, and fill me from the crown to the toe top full of direst cruelty. Make thick my blood.
Stop up th access and passage to remorse . . . (1.5.47 51). Her plea for a detached mind creates utmost
irony, for Lady Macbeth is a character that relies purely on emotion, albeit wicked. In asking for no
emotion, she becomes solely dependent on her emotions. She later prepares herself for what she and
her husband must do to Duncan: Come thick night, and pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell, that my
keen knife not see the wound it makes, nor heaven peep through the blanket of the dark to cry Hold,
hold! (1.5.57 61). Giving up her femininity and allowing hell to preserve her shows unnerving
dedication. Lustful for power, Lady Macbeth is willing to literally do anything to place her husband on
the throne. Therefore, she shows devotion to both her causes and Macbeth. She, like her husband, is
honorable to her causes. Later she uses her manipulative diction to convince her husband to kill
Duncan. She continually berates him: Was the hope drunk wherein you dressed yourself? Hath it slept
since? And wakes it now, to look so green and pale at what it did so freely? From this time

What Is The Overall Process Of Memory Formation
Memories include many different stages of memory formation such as sensory memory, short term
memory and long term memory, which requires an intensive cascade of neuronal signalling in many
different regions in the brain in order to process. This brain wide process of memory formation
functions with each element of a memory (sights, sensations, emotions, sounds) being encoded in its
respective region of the brain that processes these responses and result in a reactivation of the same
neural patterns during recollection. Thus, this demonstrates the overall process of memory formation
which incorporates its ability to encode, store and recall information (Gibbs, M. E. Ng, K. T.,1977).

Sigmund Freud, Alfred Adler, C.J. Jung and William James...
Sigmund Freud, Alfred Adler, C.J. Jung and William James were all brilliant and diverse theorists who
made vast contributions to the science of psychological studies. These brilliant minds fueled the
psychological studies of future theorists with their contrasting theoretical approaches and discoveries.
At times, they collaborated to formulate concepts and understandings but separated because of
conceptual disputes. Freud s psychoanalysis theory was at the epicenter of some studies but these men
in their individuality contributed their own theoretical concepts and developed their own schools of
thought from Jung s analytical psychology, Adler s independent school of psychotherapy, James s

These include his structural analysis of personality into Id, Ego, and Superego, and his description
between anxiety, and ego defense mechanism (pg 422).
Freud s structure of personality theory divides the mind into three parts, the Id, which centers on
desires, pleasures, primal impulses, or urges. The Ego, which is concerned with the conscious, the
moral, rational, and is self aware. The Super ego, the censor of the Id, which enforces the moral code
of the Ego. He believed the Ego and Super ego are both partly conscious and unconscious. His
structural theory of the Id, Ego and Super ego was detailed in the book, The Ego and the Id when
Freud revised his earlier theory of mental functioning and believes repression is one of many defense
mechanisms and it occurs to reduce anxiety. Freud reasons the conflict between the drive and
superego as the cause of anxiety which is the root cause that inhibits mental functions, such as an
individual s intellect. Identification, rationalization and projection are three other defense mechanisms
people use to protect their mind from anxiety.
Freud s theory of psychosexual development states people seek pleasure from erogenous zones and
everything a person becomes as an adult is determined by their childhood experiences. An individual

Psalm 1 Analysis
Part 1: Introduction and Context of the Passage
You will write an introduction that serves as an overview of the content of the paper, providing
background and cultural information about the setting of the book in which the selected passage
occurs.
Psalm 1 is a fitting introduction for the Book of Psalms in that it summarizes the two ways open to
mankind, the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked.
This psalm describes the blessed man who leads an untarnished and prosperous life in accord with the
Word of the Lord, and contrasts him with the ungodly who shall perish.
Author: Since the book is a collection of many different psalms written over a long time, there is not
just one author for this collection. By far the most common designation in the titles is Davidic, which
may refer to David as the author of those psalms. David s role as a musician in Saul s court (1Sam
16:14 23) as well as his many experiences as a shepherd, a soldier, and a king make him a likely
candidate for writing many of these psalms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is nothing more than a preposition attached to David s name.
Background: The book of Psalms consists of many different hymns and prayers composed by
individuals but used by the community.
There are myriad messages scattered through the 150 psalms, but overall, this record of the responses
of God s people in worship and prayer serves the purpose of teaching us how to relate to God in
various circumstances of life. The psalms also demonstrate God s sovereignty and goodness for His
people in order to instill confidence in those who trust in Him.
What is the background of Psalm 1?
The writer of this psalm, though not named, was doubtlessly a man with deep insight into life. Psalm 1
serves as the preface to the book of Psalms. C.H. Spurgeon comments that Psalm 1 forms the text
upon which the whole of the Psalms make up a divine

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Environment
Our lives and our environment are more closely intertwined than we think. From the Earth provided
materials and to man made items that surround us. How much we consume of these things, and how
much we waste. Greed surrounds us by what we use, and how we use it. Our health relies on all of
these things, as does the environment relies on our choices as human beings. The Earth provides us
with everything we need: Food, water, air, and shelter. We take these things to sustain us, even getting
creative in our choices to make new and better things. But our creativity has led us down a dark path.
It all started in the late 1800 s when man made synthetics. Synthetics were made by a chemical
process that imitated the real material. In the 1900 s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are hiding our creation under the ground. Out of sight, out of mind is the worst kind of thinking
when it comes to using and throwing away what we made unnaturally made and begun to rely on.
When we are not clearing away land and hiding our trash, the synthetic materials are building up in
our lakes, rivers, and oceans and destroying ecosystems. Ecosystems that animals rely on, which we
rely on the animals as a food source, and back to the rivers and streams that all living creatures rely
on. Without an ecosystem, we have no animals. Without animals, we have no food. Without water,
everything dies. As of right now, there is an island in the middle of the ocean that is stuck in the direct
path of the ocean currents. This means that whatever synthetic materials end up in the ocean, is
brought here. The residents of this island are an environmental preservationist that do everything they
can to clean up the waste. But there are billions of tons of plastics and synthetic materials, that they
cannot get rid of it all. So instead, the island is covered in piles of trash that kill the birds that rest and
mate there. The island is an important spot for a certain species of seagulls that use that land and the
ocean around it for food, water, and reproduction. But the food and water has been compromised. The

The Culper Spy Ring And The Revolutionary War
Intelligence provided by the Culper Spy Ring was instrumental in the defeat of the British during the

Analysis of Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird by...
The title of Wallace Stevens poem, Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, is misleading, because
he does not only offer thirteen ways of looking at blackbird, but the poem offers us many insights on
how humans think. Blackbird , written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, has many similarities
with Thirteen Ways of Looking at A Blackbird other than just their titles. They use many poetic
conventions to explain their poem s ideas, both writers use a blackbird to compare to humans and
human nature, and imagery plays a big role in getting across their points. Sometimes poets use
different conventions to give the poem a better flow. Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird , by

But how does a glass coach cast a shadow? Why are there now multiple blackbirds? Poets have many
tools to convey what they are trying to say, but the most effective and interesting way is by using
imagery. This puts a picture in the mind of the reader to go along with the words. Imagery is used
many times in both Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird and Blackbird. The best example of
imagery from Wallace s poem is found in stanza six: Icicles filled the long window With barbaric
glass The shadow of the blackbird Crossed it, to and fro... This stanza portrays a feeling of being
enclosed in a room. The icicles that fill the window remind us of bars on a jail window, which portrays
a closed in feeling. How does this affect how we see the blackbird? Through the window we cannot
see the blackbird itself, possibly referring to the beauty of inflections in stanza five. We can, though,
see the blackbirds shadow, possibly the beauty of innuendoes? This closed in feeling depicts how,
many times, we limit ourselves to our own preferences and opinions. As you can see, Stevens uses his
imagery to present symbolic elements in his work. In the song Blackbird, Lennon and

Being Filipino and growing up in America, my trip to the Philippines was an experience I will never

live there for 2 years to finish my studies. I did not know too much of the Philippines, only the stuff
my mother has been telling me about. She explained to me, that the weather was different in the
Philippines. She told me it was very humid. That it was so humid, it was like walking in a sauna. This
has become very useful, for I knew what type of clothes to bring over there. But as the day of my

Telling me is one thing, but experiencing it, is completely different.
After going through a couple security checks, immigration and customs, I was on my way out of the

coming from the cars. As I confusedly kept looking around, I saw a lady waving at me; it was my
aunt. She and my cousin kindly helped me carry my bags as we walked to the car. On our walk, I had
asked her why there was so much smog. She told me, that it was not like in America, cars in the
Philippines did not have to go through a vigorously strict emissions check to be driven. I have learned
that not only was the weather different, but so were the laws.

Home Ownership Is A Critical Part Of The American Dream
The desire for home ownership is something embedded in our DNA. Claiming property and owning a
house is a critical part of the American Dream. Home ownership represents more than just a place to
rest your head at night. Your home is the environment that serves as a setting for your journey through
life. It s the place of your children s first steps, family birthdays, barbeques, amongst many other
significant events. Your home is the backdrop that describes you and your family. Although many
American s were financially hurt by the trillions lost in the home equity market during the housing
bubble, there is and will always be a desire to own a home. The most vital part is that American s who
lost their homes during the crash, learn from their past, so that they do not repeat a foreclosure.
Boomerang buyers who are returning to the housing market is great for the American economy.
Former President Bill Clinton once said, If you live long enough, you ll make mistakes. But if you
learn from them, you ll be a better person. It s how you handle adversity, not how it affects you. The
main thing is never quit, never quit, never quit. Boomerang buyers are the individuals that did not quit.
Just seven years ago, these people lost their homes and most likely, ruined their credit at the same
time. For those who are now in a position to buy a home again, it really says a lot about their
character. The hope is that they have learned from their mistakes and are ready to take on the

To Kill A Mockingbird Main Idea
The main idea of the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, is about how Scout is going to learn
about evil forces in her life like racism and inequality. Scout is a 6 year old girl, who is an extremely

Atticus, who is a lawyer, and her mother, who died when she was two years old, so she doesn t have

women and all the racism that is in this town too. This main idea is shown several times in the first
chapter, when it gives us an example of how the town s people are racist. According to the book, The
sheriff hadn t the heart to put him in jail among the Negroes, so Boo was locked in the courthouse
basement.(Lee 11). Even though Boo did something mentally unstable, he didn t receive the same
punishment by the reason of being white, while if a person with a different colored skin did that they
would receive jail time. In chapter four, Jem, Scout s brother, said, I swear, Scout, sometimes you act

Good Vs. Evil In Beowulf
In the story Beowulf, there are a lot of conflicts that takes place. This causes a few themes to appear in

Beowulf you have two main heroes and a few demons and monsters. In my essay I will show how all
the characters represent good vs evil. Like I said earlier there are only 2 characters that represent good.
The main character Beowulf obviously is one of them. He s a hero and everyone looks up to him.

There are many reasons why these two are considered as the economical justifiable terms but some of
the points are as follows : Tax considerations as mentioned above it is very important aspect when
merger happens because with it the capital structure of the organizations. For instance let us assume
that there are two companies, company A and company B. They are deciding the merge. Here
company A is very high turnover and also the profit is outstanding thus the tax obligations is very high
and the company B runs in the debt. Thus if these companies unite the tax liability of Company A will
reduce and thus money can be reduced for going out. Even in future the tax liability will be less then it
is in existing situation. Synergy This is also referring to the stakeholders and merging companies. The
origin of the synergy can be done by many reasons they are a) financial economies, b) two separate
management strength, c) operating economies d) by the union of two companies the market power
will increase and also the competition will decrease. Thus synergy and tax considerations are main and
justifiable in this situation. Hostile merger As the name indicates the target company is been hostile.

Adorno et al from the University of California, suggested that some people have a specific kind of personality that makes them susceptible to extremist ideologies and predispos es them to commit acts of aggression and murder in the name of political ideology. They called this the authoritarian personality (McAvoy,2012, p.24). Nevis Sanford and a PhD student Daniel Levin son wanted to find a way to measure anti Semitism. The qualities of products admissible in one state may differ from what is permissible in some other state. Thus, the types of promotion are influenced by cultural differences. The demographic and geographic differences in the newspapers and television coverage and the association and link with the Internet also play an important role in the regulation of the promotion package. Consumer goods cannot opt for global standardized options, but the industrial products can select the best marketing strategy to cross the barriers of legal, technical and cultural issues and choose a standardized global option. • 8. The Portrayal Of Women Of Contemporary Rap Videos The aim of this study is examine the portrayal of women in contemporary rap videos, and to see if it could be potentially harmful. Unfortunately within the music industry like many industries sex sells, and the media has brought to light this fixation. Hip hop has persuaded a large portion of society that this is how women should be treated, but new times call for new measures and it is time that people realise this and give women the respect and dignity that many believe they surly deserve. In the rap world, women are a status of success, and they are treated almost as trophies: a way for rappers to show that they have made it to the top of their game. It is not that rappers feel that women are inferior, but they feel treating women like a collector s item is how they should go about flaunting their new found success. Rappers always try to have the best looking girls in their videos, which make other people, predominantly young men, think how they are living the high life, being able to get the best looking girls, girls they could only dream of getting. The intent of this façade is to simply make money, but rappers do not realise how much of an impact their music is having on the younger generations. When the younger generation watch television and see artists throw money in the air, with expensive cars and women, that image is stored in their minds as the definition of success. • 9. The Conflict Within The Family, By Alison Bechdel, Joan... Families, which are basic units of human commit, are constructed from individuals with unique character; these individuals taken as a whole, construct the larger character of the family itself. However, because no individual s character is perfectly compatible with another s, there exist inevitable conflict within the family, such as can be expressed as conflict between the self and either another single member or the entire group. Naturally, the rational self will seek to ameliorate such as conflict, perhaps by simply accepting it as a natural part of human life. Other instances, which form the basis of the essay and find roots in essays by Alison Bechdel, Joan Didion, and Richard Rodriguez, occur when such acceptance does not. I strongly suggest that the common response to familial conflict, avoidance, that is, escaping the friction between human characters by refusing on some level to participate in family, introduces a new conflict. While Didion, Bechdel, and Rodriguez, provide textual support to the birth of this second conflict, I shall seek to explain its nature. Born of contrasting characters in family and self, conflict will not be replaced, but bolstered in avoidance. Thus, in acceptance, the self finds resolution. Though I say it nonetheless, it is fairly obvious that most people participate in some kind of a familial unit as previously described, and thus are familiar with the conflicts to which I alluded. The poem opens on a house inhabited by a woman and a group of skeletons that meet every evening for examination. One night, the woman blinks and sees a doppelganger of herself in an empty room. Throughout the story, the boy s father, Martin, has the reader questioning whether or not there actually is a problem with Jonah or whether he is over reacting. Through various scenes in the story one may conclude that it is combination of both. A Cold Little Bird is told through the point of view of the father, Martin. Scholte in a different article defines the state of emotional detachment as a psychopathic syndrome (Scholte 1). The act of touching and hugging is a big theme in Cold Little Bird. One of the first things Jonah refuses his parents is touching or hugging him. When Martin was finally fed up with his son s rejection and forced a hug, Jonah froze and said he did not understand why his father kept refusing to allow him his basic request. What is alarming is how Jonah threatens to tell the school counselor that his parents touch him when he does not want them to. As a result of the reader knowing the truth about the touching and how the school will interpret the child s words, Martin and the reader are horrified at the implications the youth is making. This would lead both the reader and Martin to question just how normal the child is in fact. It might also lead one to wonder whether another adult has molested Jonah because ten year olds are usually not aware of such issues. Levy describes the emotional detachment and not wanting to be touched as the fault of Martin. • 28. Analysis of Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird by... The title of Wallace Stevens poem, Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, is misleading, because he does not only offer thirteen ways of looking at blackbird, but the poem offers us many insights on how humans think. Blackbird , written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, has many similarities with Thirteen Ways of Looking at A Blackbird other than just their titles. They use many poetic conventions to explain their poem s ideas, both writers use a blackbird to compare to humans and human nature, and imagery plays a big role in getting across their points. Sometimes poets use different conventions to give the poem a better flow. Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird , by Wallace Stevens uses assonance to make the poem have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But how does a glass coach cast a shadow? Why are there now multiple blackbirds? Poets have many tools to convey what they are trying to say, but the most effective and interesting way is by using imagery. This puts a picture in the mind of the reader to go along with the words. Imagery is used many times in both Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird and Blackbird. The best example of imagery from Wallace s poem is found in stanza six: Icicles filled the long window With barbaric glass The shadow of the blackbird Crossed it, to and fro... This stanza portrays a feeling of being enclosed in a room. The icicles that fill the window remind us of bars on a jail window, which portrays a closed in feeling. How does this affect how we see the blackbird? Through the window we cannot see the blackbird itself, possibly referring to the beauty of inflections in stanza five. We can, though, see the blackbirds shadow, possibly the beauty of innuendoes? This closed in feeling depicts how, many times, we limit ourselves to our own preferences and opinions. As you can see, Stevens uses his imagery to present symbolic elements in his work. In the song Blackbird, Lennon and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was the first time I would be traveling to the place of my heritage. I was gladly going to live there for 2 years to finish my studies. I did not know too much of the Philippines, only the stuff my mother has been telling me about. She explained to me, that the weather was different in the Philippines. She told me it was very humid. That it was so humid, it was like walking in a sauna. This has become very useful, for I knew what type of clothes to bring over there. But as the day of my flight came closer, I could not help but feel nervous. I never met any of my relatives over there, nor did I know anything about the place. Then ... I stood up, and tailed the orderly crowd as we moved in a single file line. As I got closer to the door, I started to feel some nastily warm air. I felt like I walked into, what could surely be a sauna. My mother was right; the weather was definitely different from America. The air felt damp and heavy. It was surprisingly hard to breathe in the humid air. I felt sweat instantly roll from my face to my shirt. Telling me is one thing, but experiencing it, is completely different. After going through a couple security checks, immigration and customs, I was on my way out of the airport. As I made my way out, I noticed that not only was it humid, but also terribly smoggy. I anxiously looked around to find out where all the smoke was coming from. And surprisingly, it was coming from the cars. As I confusedly kept looking around, I saw a lady waving at me; it was my aunt. She and my cousin kindly helped me carry my bags as we walked to the car. On our walk, I had asked her why there was so much smog. She told me, that it was not like in America, cars in the Philippines did not have to go through a vigorously strict emissions check to be driven. I have learned that not only was the weather different, but so were the laws. Either way, the unbearably hard part was over with. As long as I did not have to fly, in coach, for another thirteen ... • 30. Home Ownership Is A Critical Part Of The American Dream The desire for home ownership is something embedded in our DNA. Claiming property and owning a house is a critical part of the American Dream. Home ownership represents more than just a place to rest your head at night. Your home is the environment that serves as a setting for your journey through life. It s the place of your children s first steps, family birthdays, barbeques, amongst many other significant events. Your home is the backdrop that describes you and your family. Although many American s were financially hurt by the trillions lost in the home equity market during the housing bubble, there is and will always be a desire to own a home. The most vital part is that American s who lost their homes during the crash, learn from their past, so that they do not repeat a foreclosure. Boomerang buyers who are returning to the housing market is great for the American economy. Former President Bill Clinton once said, If you live long enough, you ll make mistakes. But if you learn from them, you ll be a better person. It s how you handle adversity, not how it affects you. The main thing is never quit, never quit, never quit. Boomerang buyers are the individuals that did not quit. Just seven years ago, these people lost their homes and most likely, ruined their credit at the same time. For those who are now in a position to buy a home again, it really says a lot about their character. The hope is that they have learned from their mistakes and are ready to take on the ...
