Different Functions of External Quality Assurance
1.1. There are a number of different functions of external quality assurance in learning and
development. Vroeijenstijn (2007) highlights some of these with respect to education, a similar
concept. EQA has the role of trying to help organisations to enhance and improve quality, and on the
other end it is meant to provide information В¦ to key stakeholders. Protocols for external quality
assurance should be aimed at continuous quality improvement, rather than merely at accreditation.
As a result of this, external quality assurance is inherently beneficial to learningand development.
Organisations seeking to meet the needs of external quality assurance agents must continually
evaluate and adapt their processes to the current standards and legislative requirements.
While the assessment function of external quality assurance provides a significant amount of
motivation for organisations to engage in continuous learning and development, the goal setting
function provides direction and a framework for learning and development. Organisations that face
external quality assurance programs will naturally work towards meeting the standards that they
face. As a result, learning and development in the organisation is guided by the standards of
external quality assurance bodies and the best practices that they prescribe. By both setting the
standards and creating the motivation for organisational learning and development, the functions of
external quality assurance bodies play a

The Importance Of Victory In College Sports
Week 2 of the college football season has come and gone, and what a week it was. Several teams
needed comeback efforts to achieve victory against less formidable foes, while other programs
pulled off compelling wins against stiff competition. Below is a recap of the most significant
storylines from week 2 of the 2015 college football season. Most Significant Victories Michigan
teams come up big! The Harbaugh era is officially underway. Michigan head coach Jim
Harbaugh captured his first victory as Wolverines head coach with a 35 7 victory over Oregon
State Saturday afternoon. Had Harbaugh dropped his initiation in Ann Arbor, Maize and Blue
fans may have been seen shopping for Scarlet and Grey. Ok, that s probably a stretch, but
Harbaugh s first victory as Michigan s head coach showed Wolverine fans what they can expect as
long as he s at the helm Winning. It could take a season or two for Harbaugh to bring Michigan
back to prominence, but the fiery khaki savant has a proven track record of turning teams around....

5 Michigan State exacted its revenge on No. 7 Oregon after falling to the Ducks a season ago.
Saturday, the Spartans held on for a 31 28 victory over the Ducks, keeping their College Football
Playoff hopes alive. The Ducks certainly aren t out of their playoff picture, but a looming matchup
between Michigan State and No. 1 Ohio State is now the most anticipated matchup of the college
football season. The victory also painted a thin coat of credibility onto the Big 10, which doesn t

Persuasive Speech On Life In Our Life
Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. It appears that you have taken one step closer to death. Death is all
around us; the air we breathe every day, hour, minute, second is crucial to our survival. However,
air can be seen as a double edge sword. Air, is what is keeping us alive, for if we stopped breathing,
we would die of suffocation. On the other hand, the longer we breathe, the closerwe are towards
death. In this sense, a burning what if question has been on my mind: what if the air we are
breathing is a poison that is slowly killing us? Think about that. If this were to be true? What have
you done...or plan to do that makes breathing this poisonous air worthy?
Many people today waste much of their life doing useless things. They do not realize that each
breath they spend on the couch or dreaming of things they could do, they are wasting their
opportunity to really do something. Let me break this down for you. Life expectancy for a
typically American is about 79 years or 948 months. Of those 79 years, 1/3 of the time is spent
sleeping, leaving us with about 632 months. After taking into consideration factors such as eating,
using the restroom, and browsing the internet, we are left with roughly 19 years to live. 19 years
may seem like a lot, but that is only about 24% of your life that is actually in your hands. After
finding out these surprising stats, I began to rethink my life. I looked a little closer around the
community I grew up in and realized that there was a huge need within my community.
I first began to get involved within my community eighth grade year through the Community
Thanksgiving Meal. At first, I did not realize that all the people coming in for a meal or the
places that needed a delivery was all just right within my community. As the years went by, I
slowly became more and more involved. I started from only coming in on Thanksgiving Day to
help to being there every step of the way. I remember volunteering to coordinate a clothing drive
last year to give clothes to those in need during the Thanksgiving Meal. At the end of that
Thanksgiving Day, a lady comes up to me and asks if she could grab a few extra items. The lady
had on a thin coat and I immediately knew that she needed help. I ran and

A Brief Note On D2 And Computer Misuse Act
D3 How to Improve Web Security.
Websites are exposed to the outside world and everything possible should be done to ensure that
they remain safe and enjoyable environments for the people who use them. Legally it is the
responsibility of the owners of the website to ensure that any information stored about customers is
protected and that the site is not used as a base for installing malicious software upon user s
computers or launch Denial of Service Attacks against other people s sites. To learn more about the
legal responsibilities you should read the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Computer Misuse Act
1990. Apart from the legal aspects of security there are also business aspects to it. An unsafe
website will not attract and keep customers.
Server Side security.
Servers should be protected by strong firewalls and access to ports beyond standard HTTP and
HTTPS disabled. Do not expose your server s entry points more than you have to. Within the server
you should employ an intrusion detection system like Tripwire to catch attempts at hacking whilst
they are occurring.
Access to the contents of the webserver that is hosting your site should be protected with strong
authentication. It does not matter how strong the rest of your security measures are if your
webserver contains weak passwords and default accounts. The passwords chosen should be as long
as possible and contain special characters, such as the dollar sign, to make it difficult for hackers to
use brute force

Essay On Agrammatic Aphasia
As some of the adjectives overlap with verbs and some of them with nouns, and also due to
psycholinguistic and linguistic attributes of adjectives, in agrammatism for testing theories of word
class production deficits, analysis of the production of adjectives is important.
But the problem is that the use of adjectives in agrammatic aphasia, In contrast to nouns and verbs
is not systematically studied. In agrammatic aphasia this issue that how production and processing
of different grammatical categories are affected is examined through many research. The most
important results is that where main verbs are often omitted, difficulty with verb as compared to
noun retrieval, both in the production of sentence and in confrontation naming is exist in many

in aphasia contrary to the potential for informing word class production deficits of adjectives,
quantifying of the production of adjective abilities in aphasic people is done just in a few

The proportion of adjectives used by cognitively healthy controls and adjectives used by
agrammatic patients to can be we compared. as these two properties are shared by verbs and
adjectives, this meaning that agrammatic people do not have an inherent difficulty with less
imageable categories, nor with predication can be resulted, If adjectives are spared in patients
speech. In this situation at verb production, the deficit could attributed to action semantics of the
verbs, or to their complex morpho syntax.
In contrary to this idea, in agrammatism the problem with verbs is attributed to to low imageability,
or predication, if adjectives are impaired, as these traits characterize adjectives as

The United states should not have joined the league of nations in 1919. The United States

Social Media Impact On Body Image
The Impact of Social Media on Body Image As technology editing tools have become even more
prevalent, many feel the need to excessively use photoshop before they share an image online. In
a pervasive world where images of unrealistic standards fuel the media on how one should look,
social media has one of the most significant impacts on body dissatisfaction. Throughout the last
decade, social media has become one of the most common and favored ways for people to
communicate, connect, and share. Thus, there have been many debates and discussions on
whether the media has a positive or a negative impact on the way an individual perceives him or
herself. As the rapid growth of smartphone usage among adolescents and adults has increased,
social media has become an essential part of one s daily life. In today s society, when most
adolescents and adults turn on their smartphones, often times, the first thing they will refer to is
a social media site. It has become a place where they are exposed to news, images, and
expectations. Often times, these images, ideals, and expectations are ingrained in their brain and
bombarded with what is considered to be beautiful. Moreover, these unrealistic standards will
often lead to a form of comparison, influencing them to take extreme measures. Although social
media serves as a platform where people can connect, communicate, and share, it has a negative
impact on one s body image, because it can lead to a lack of self confidence and severe

establish a subsidiary in Brazil to produce and sell the clubs, but this may require a large
investment of funds. It could use licensing, in which it specifies to a Brazilian firm how to
produce the clubs. In this way, it does not have to establish its own subsidiary there. b.Which
method would you recommend for this firm? Justify your recommendation. ANSWER: If the
amount of golf clubs to be sold in Brazil is small, it may decide to export. However, if the
expected sales level is high, it may benefit from licensing. If it is confident that the expected
sales level will remain high, it may be willing to establish a subsidiary. The wages are lower in
Brazil, and the large investment needed to establish a subsidiary may be worthwhile. 15. Impact

Indie Video Game Development
Being an indie video game developer is tough work as there s a lot that goes into the
development of a video game. Unlike bigger AAA studios, indie developers only have
themselves or a small team to accomplish this great amount of work and with that, comes a
large amount of time having to be invested into the games creation but how does an indie
developer know or gain enough knowledge to form a prediction of whether that game in
development will be a success or not? The answer is simply data. Just like larger studios, indie
studios or developers can use data to collect valuable feedback from their players/audiences; even
if the developer/studio doesn t have any preexisting game titles of their own. The only thing

confident in doing so. An example of this being successful is from the studio Dynamic Pixels ,

a wildly poplar title while gathering plenty of feedback and data, despite that it s yet to even be

By denying reality, you are essentially protecting yourself from the having to face and deal with
the unpleasant consequences and pain that accompany acceptance Repression There is a fine line
between denial and repression. But where denial involves the outright refusal to accept a given
reality, repression involves completely forgetting the experience altogether. With repression, your
mind makes the decision to bury the memory in the subconscious, thereby preventing painful,
disturbing or dangerous thoughts from entering awareness Reaction Formation With reaction
formation, you are going beyond denial and behaving in the opposite way to which you think or

Stepping Into The Dance Studio
Stepping into the dance studio for my first ballet class, mirrored walls and a long bar, I
immediately immersed myself into becoming the ballerina from my fairytale books. After that
first year I laced up my shiny black tap shoes for my first tap class, a new love was born. That love
was replaced only when I learned to clog. All three styles of dancehave unique characteristics but all
three have much in common.
Dance has certain qualities such as poise, grace, and balance. The first years of dance are basic
and fundamental moves but these evolve over time and with hours of practicing. I also learned
responsibility, time management, determination, and a good work ethic. Whether it was landing a
specific move in ballet or nailing a double time step in clogging, there is always something to take
from each style of dance. Ballet is the core, the foundation, of all of these styles of dance, the
balance and strength learned in ballet are used in tap and clogging as well.
Ballet was the first style of dance that I learned. As soon as I was old enough to take at Alicia s
School of Performing Arts in Benson, North Carolina my mom quickly signed me up for ballet. I
did ballet for fourteen years, up until I graduated high school. Over those years I had three
different instructors, all who had their own style of teaching, helping me become a better ballerina.
My posture improved as well as my confidence. Ballet works to improve the core strength and
power and teaches you how to move

regulatory differentials. Homogeneity of products is depicted as goods and services that are same

point of interest that they can increase their opposition. The more homogeneous the product in any
industry the further we would expect to see competition (Spar and Yoffie 155). Another factor is
transaction costs, the more difficult and time consuming a relocation will be the less likely it will

economy recommendation of an alternate cost

The primary functions of lower courts consist of processing minor offenses but these courts will
sometimes process felonies as well, without sentencing the defendant. Major trial courts take the
processed felony cases and complete them; in major courts the defendants who are charged with
felony crimes mainly enter a plea of guilty or not guilty, which then leads to a trial (Neubauer,
2010). The second component of our dual court system consists of appellate courts. In the U.S.
judicial system, a defendant found guilty in a trial court can normally appeal to a higher federal
court. These federal courts, or appellate courts, review decisions made by trial courts (Neubauer,
2010). Appellate courts can be on the federal and state level, but do not hold trials or hear new
evidence. These courts consist of a judge, or a lawyer, or a group of either one, who read the
transcript of the trial and whether the previous decision correctly or incorrectly followed the law
(Neubauer, 2010). Similar to trial courts, the federal government and most states have made two
different types of appellate courts: intermediate, which hear all cases, and supreme courts, which
can pick and choose the cases heard (Neubauer, 2010). Even though there are many different types
of courts within the judicial system of the United States, the role of the judge stays constant
throughout the majority of branches. Judges and their duties in the courtroom are misunderstood,

The Relationship Between Osteoporosis And Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis, also known as porous bone, is a disease characterized by low bone mass and
structural deterioration of bone tissue which leads to bone fragility and an increased risks of the
hip, spine, and wrist. Both men and women are affected by this (although it affects women more)
but it can be prevented and treated. In the United States, more than 40 million people either already
have osteoporosisor at a high risk because of low bonemass.
Sir Astley Paston Cooper was a famous English physician, anatomist, and surgeon who first
discovered the association between fractures and bone density reduction because of aging which
created the base for discovering Osteoporosis. Another person who helped with the discovery of
osteoporosis was Jean Lobstein. Around 1833, Lobstein was the first person to medically describe
the pathological condition and appearance of Osteoporosis. He described the condition as, One
with holes in the bone associated with fragility . He was also the one who named the disease.
Another important discovery of the disease is the relationship between osteoporosis with the
postmenopausal state, which was discovered by Fuller Albright. Albright discovered that there is a
direct relationship between the lack of estrogen after menopause and the development of
osteoporosis. After menopause, bone breakdown outrun the building of new bone. Early
menopause, usually before the age of 45, and any prolonged period in which hormone levels are
low and menstrual

Catalina Marketing
History
Catalina Marketing Corporation was founded in 1983 by five friends, Tom Mindrum, Mike O
Brien, George Off, Mike Scroggie and Brian Yeatman, while on a boating trip to Catalina Island
in Southern California. The five friends were remarkably similar, though different. All five had
experience in the consumer research field. All five had strong areas (whether research, computer
technology or sales) at which they excelled. All five were looking for a new line of work that
would be challenging and most importantly, paid well. The five came up with an idea to use the
new scanner technology at grocery stores to gather information and print a coupon for a rival
product. The five friends knew it would not be easy to found ... Show more content on

All employees pitched in to work were needed including the CEO. It was not uncommon for a
sales person to deliver coupon paper and unload data from the PC hard drive during a routine visit
(there was no such thing as modems at that time). Catalina spent all it s resources on technology
and equipment for expansion stores. After proving to be successful handling popular South
California grocers, Ralph s and Boys, Catalina signed more grocery chains to their list of customers.
Eventually, Catalina Marketing had manufacturers calling them. A former Anaheim sales manager
remembers receiving a phone call from a Proctor Gamble representative saying, Look, I don t
know what your company does, but I know our company has got to do it. So how do I start a
program?
Price
Catalina Marketing clearly has the market advantage when it comes to pricing their product.
Since Catalina has gone through the effort to patent their software and hardware, it is nearly
impossible to compete with the services they offer. Catalina Marketing charges retailers a one fee
for installation of thermal coupon printers, a PC and all hardware necessary to connect the PC to
store s existing scanners. Retailers agree to use the Checkout Coupon #61666; program for a
minimum of five years. In return, Catalina pays retailers a small fee for each coupon printed and
supplies them with coupon paper at no cost. This

Nepotism in American Business and Politics Essay
Nepotism in American Business and Politics

Today, nepotism is defined as favoritism towards kin. More narrowly, nepotism has come to mean
hiring a relative, regardless of their qualifications and competence. Usually accusations of
nepotism are followed by allegations of ethical misconduct, manipulation and unlawful
interference. But in order to fully understand and appreciate the legacy of nepotism, one must
look no further than their local barbershop, bakery, or church. Each has been, and continues to
be, influenced by the aiding hands of nepotism. From the mom and pop businesses to nearly half
of the Fortune 500 companies, all have benefited from what Bellow has called New Nepotism (7).
New Nepotism, or postmodern nepotism, differs from the old by a pragmatic approach to kinship,
paired with a strong emphasis on warrant and accomplishment: New nepotism [combines] the
privileges of birth with the iron rule of merit (Bellow 15). Heredity will get you in the door but
cannot keep you from getting pushed back out. In short, New Nepotism is an effective and valuable
practice in society because it promotes and upholds the principles of kinship and human community.
This form of fellowship can be found not only in our cultural and societal texts but also within our
biological and instinctual drives. Nepotism, though, is not only confined to

The Importance Of Religion In Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. knew from an early age how important religion was for his family. King
came from a family of preachers, his father and grandfather, who helped lead him to also being a
preacher. King went to college for theology and continued his academic career by earning a
doctorate degree in theological studies. These degrees will help guide King in his writings and
speeches. King uses religion to prove the point on why the protests are not a bad thing to the
audience of the eight clergymen. King wrote a letter that reaches audiences that weren t thought
of when it was written. He knew of the clergyman and many of the then present day populations
that were going to read his story, but the letters have touched so many people in the present day.
King knew his then present day audience to a tee. He starts his letter with one of his key
indicators; My dear Fellow Clergymen (263). While doing this he knew who was going to read
the letter but also that these people will understand his references to religion, in which the letter is
littered with references to the Bible. King uses religion to prove why he is in Birmingham. He is
there to spread the message, but was thrown into jail and is trying to prove a point on why there is
significance for the protest in Birmingham; I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. Just as

Personification In Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, narrates the frustrations of the common people toward
Foulon, a French magistrate. The people rejoice when Foulon is imprisoned since he treated them
awfully. The nature of the French Revolution is the common people s elation at the downfall of the
aristocracy. Dickens utilizes personification, motif, and symbolism to describe the relationship
between the common people and Foulon.
The neighborhood of the common people, Saint Antoine, is personified to show the universal
feelings of rage the peasants feel toward the aristocracy. In the beginning, Saint Antoine is
portrayed as just a physical place, but when Foulon is mentioned, it assumes the characteristics of a
man. Foulon is an indifferent, awful man, who stood by and watched the commoners suffer, and
mocked them by saying they should, eat grass. By personifying an entire neighborhood, Dickens
illustrates how Foulon outraged the whole population, not just a fraction of the people. Every
commoner has a personal vendetta and anger for the French nobility, and thus Saint Antoine is
portrayed as one entity. The peasants hold an intense rage toward Foulon, who would make all of
their lives insufferable. Foulon is not just attacked by a few commoners, he is attacked by the
single entity of Saint Antoine.
Grass serves as a powerful motif that reflects the vengeance of the peasants. The French aristocrat
Foulon told the starving people they might eat grass. He has no regard for the

March 11, 2011 was a surprise. This unexpected disaster was not the largest or the deadliest
earthquakeand tsunamito strike. More than 120,000 buildings were destroyed, 278,000. The total
economic cost could reach up to $235 billion, the World Bank estimated, making it the costliest
natural disaster in world history. That record goes to the 2004 Banda Aceh earthquake and tsunami
in Sumatra, which killed more than 230,000 people. The March 11 earthquake started on a Friday
at 2:46 p.m. local time. Japan s scientists had forecast a smaller earthquake would strike the
northern region of Honshu, the country s main island. The direct financial damage from the disaster
is estimated to be about $199 billion dollars. In Japan, residents are still recovering from the
disaster. In a subduction zone, one plate slides beneath another into the mantle, the hotter layer

Descriptive Speech
When I was six years old, my father would take me his frequent stops to Walmart every week.
One could imagine how repetitive the car ride would be so as a way to make it a little more
thrilling, I would entertain my father by asking him facetious questions. These questions ranged
from subjects like, Why is the sky blue? or Are there bathrooms in Heaven? No matter how
childish the question, my father would always have an elaborate answer that left me with more
questions. However, once I asked my father about the origin of my name, he just answered me
with four simple words: We just liked it. Recently, I ve tried to bog the mind of my mother and

there isn t a story behind it, I asked over the sounds of my fellow Tuskegee classmates. I m sorry

liked the name Taylor, so much so, that when she was little she wanted the name to be her own.
My mother s birth name is Tawanda which to her is deemed as a ghetto name. I never really
understood why she would want to give up a name that left a certain twang on your tongue after

Idiopathic Epilepsy Research Paper
Epilepsy is a disorder where nerve cell activity in the brain becomes disturbed. This activity causes
sporadic electrical storms in the brain called seizures. During seizures, people experience unusual
behavior and symptoms. There are two major types of epilepsy, idiopathic/cryptogenic,
symptomatic. Both of these have different causes and affect the body and mind in particular ways.
Idiopathic epilepsy is commonly associated with cryptogenic because they are very similar.
However, there are some main differences between the two. Idiopathic epilepsy means that there is
no cause for the abnormal activity occurring in the brain. Cryptogenic epilepsy is when there is a
likely cause, but doctors and specialists can t say that is the ... Show more content on

A CBC helps the doctor identify infections, allergies, and other abnormalities to choose the right
anticonvulsant medication. CBC s measure the number of red blood cells, the number of white
blood cells, platelets(help the blood clot in case of an injury or bleeding), hemoglobin(the
substance in red blood cells that carry oxygen), hematocrit(the percentage of blood made up of red
blood cells), and mean corpuscular volume(the size of the red blood cells).
In some cases, epilepsy can be prevented. However, most of the time, this isn t the case. Usually,
epilepsy is genetic. Another common cause is traumatic head injury from an accident. Preventing
falls can lower your risk of getting epilepsy. In most cases, though, it is hereditary. Normally,
epilepsy occurs in someone who has a family history of seizures.
Right now, there is no cure for epilepsy. There are, however, treatments that people find helpful.
Traditional treatments include prescription medications like Lyrica or Zarontin for symptom
control. Most of these prescriptions are to control seizures and depending on what type of seizure a
person has, they may take different medications to regulate symptoms. Another traditional treatment
is surgery. The most common one is corpus callosotomy. This is when a person with extreme
seizures has split brain surgery so that seizures don t spread from one hemisphere of the brain to

Today many of us can t because we are fortunate enough to be alive in a time and place where
racism isn t banal. Rosa parks, a civil rights activist, refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery
public bus to a white passenger in 1955. At the time this was illegal, African Americans were
forced to follow bus segregation rules, and they had to give up their seats to whites if they were
in the front of the bus and had to resort to the back. When Parks disobeyed the law she stood for
all the rights of blacks, she stood up for inequality, she stood up against racism. African
Americans along with other minorities faced discrimination, such as being harassed, publicly
humiliated, and being denied the same rights as other people just because they had a darker skin
color. Rosa parks along with many other civil rights activists fought for the future of African
American s, their ultimate goal was to eliminate the segregation of blacks and whites. Today no
matter what race or what color your skin is you have the same rights as anyone else. Maybe you
would have been lucky enough to have been treated fairly back then but remember not everyone

activists fought. Rosa Parks was a symbol of hope for many in the African American community.

The first reason is that they are helping us increase our knowledge in biology. Scientists learned
lots of new things thanks to viruses. For example, the basic technology of genetic manipulation
was developed from studies with bacterial viruses Another reason is that we use viruses a lot in
vaccines. Thanks to vaccines, our body creates antibodies to defeat the virus in the vaccine. This
is why you can be sick after getting a vaccine. Then when we actually get the virus, our body will
already have antibodies to use and defeat it. An example, is the influenza shot. Once you get it,
our body will create antibodies to fight off the virus. If you do get the influenza, it won t last as
long as it would have if you didn t get the shot. Viruses can also help with diseases. If a person is
missing a gene in one of their cells. we can modify the virus genetic material to have to missing
gene. Of course, scientists make sure that the virus won t get the person sick. Viruses can also
help with cancer prevention and how to control it. Sure there are vaccines but there is also
Virotherapy. Some viruses have been used to kill cancerous cells. There is a lot more reasons why
viruses can help us but I couldn t list them

Torques Equilibrium, and Center of Gravity Essay
Torques equilibrium, and center of gravity
Introduction Torque is a quantitative measure of the tendency of a force to cause or change the
rotational motion of a rigid body. A torque is the result of force acting at a distance from an axis of
rotation. An essential thing to keep in mind is that the magnitude of the torque is equal to the
product of the forces perpendicular distance and magnitude.
Theory The magnitude of the torque (t) is found from the product of the force F and the
perpendicular distance from the axis of rotation to the forces line of action. When there is no net
torque acting on a stationary rigid body, the body will then be in static rotational equilibrium and
there is no rotational motion.

Case 2 (three known masses) Computation was done by placing the meter stick on the stand
suspending m1=100g at 30 cim, m2=200g at 70 cm position. M3=50g was the calculated mass for
the system to be at equilibrium. M1=100g and was at the 20 cm position and m2=200g while on
the 60 cm position. Both the results and percent error of the experimental value were calculated.
Case 3 (unknown mass/balance principle) A known mass was compared with an unknown mass
with the use of the balance principle. With the meter stick on the support stand the unknown mass
(m1) was suspended near one end of the meter stick while the other stick was suspended with m2.
Until the meter stick was in balance its position was adjusted. The unknown mass was then
removed in which the actual mass was then determined by using a laboratory balance.
Analysis The experiment concluded that the center of gravity of the meter stick did not change
although the equilibrium was required to be re balanced once the masses were added. Depending
on the mass at one end the distance further away from the center changed. If the mass on one side
was greater than the mass on the opposite side the clamp from that side would have to move
further away from the center in order to recover the equilibrium. There was a slight percent
difference when the torque for both sides were calculated. The cause of this may have

with two Japanese manufacturers until it again turned to countries with even lower labour cost.

Chicago and this policy increased the homicide rate by 18 percent (Soaring Chicago Gun
Violence Amid, 2017). I have lost my best friend to gun violence as well as numerous family
member and close friends. Gun control laws and finding ways to decrease the gun violence has

Bsbwor501 What Makes A Good Role Model
BSBWOR501 Summative Assessment 2 ? Michelle Rick
1. What makes a good role model and how can I ensure that I act as a role model for employees I
supervise?
The definition of a role model is a person whose behaviour, example or success can be emulated by
others, especially young people. Their values, actions and behaviours are upheld as an ideal and to
be desired. Being a role model may not be taken in its entirety. It can be broken down allowing a
person to be a role model in one area and not another. Being a manager is not a guarantee to be a
role model. Good leaders will model behaviours that encourage employees to endorse
organisational goals and objectives. By modelling the behaviours you find desirable and that will
help reach company gaols others will also begin to model said behaviours.
2. What are the traits of an effective leader? How can these traits be developed?
Empathy: Creating a legitimate rapport with your staff makes it less likely that personal issues and
resentment can creep in and derail the group. When your team knows that you are empathetic to
their concerns, they will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Competency standards set out what skills are required to perform a job or task, and range from
national industry standards to simple checklists developed within a department or section. An
awareness of the competency standards that exist for a position helps you gain the necessary
knowledge and skills for that position. Competency is the consistent application of knowledge and
skill to the standard of performance required in the workplace. Competence is an observable
behaviour performed to a specified level and therefore provides a basis for the assessment of
performance. A competent person has the knowledge, skills and attitude that enables them to
perform their work to the standard required of those employed within an occupation or industry

The Glass Menagerie Research Paper
Thomas Lanier Williams, born in Columbus, Mississippi to Edwina Dakin and Cornelius Coffin
Williams, became one of the nations greatest playwrights. He was born on March 26, 1911 in his
grandfather, Reverend Walter E. Dakin s, Episcopal Church. William s mother, Edwina, was a
lively and colorful woman. She married a man whom contradicted her lifestyle. That man was
Cornelius Williams, a gruff, pistol dueler with a violent temper. He was a lieutenant in the Spanish
American War and a descendent from frontiersmen. Cornelius and Edwina married and continued to
live in Mississippi. Cornelius had a job as a traveling salesman. Thomas became sick with
diphtheria at age five which is how his love for literature bloomed. He lived in Mississippi until...

He traveled from Chicago to St. Louis, and on to New Orleans. In 1940, he met Audrey Wood, a
literary agent. Audrey helped secure a deal with a Rockefeller Fellowship, one thousand dollars
for formerly submitted plays. By 1942, Audrey Wood found that MGM would pay Williams two
hundred and fifty dollars a week for a six month contract. He wrote a screenplay named The
Gentlemen Caller, which he changed into a drama production and renamed as The Glass
Menagerie. This play opened in Chicago and was greeted with open arms. It then moved to New
York where it performed five hundred and sixty one times until its close on August 3, 1946.
According to Dakin Williams, Tom s brother, The events of The Glass Menagerie are a virtually
literal rendering of our family life at 6254 Enright Avenue, St. Louis, even though the physical
setting is that of an earlier apartment, at Westminster Place. (Spoto 114) The Glass Menagerie
won several awards and inspired Tennessee to write another classic, A Streetcar Named Desire.
Streetcar opened on Broadway on December 3, 1947 and had eight hundred and fifty five shows.
He wrote Streetcar with every bit of talent he possessed due to his hypochondriac thoughts that it
was to be his last play. He was suffering from a ruptured appendix, which was healed successfully.
As Broadway waited for another smash hit, Williams tried to produce one. Without much success

What to Do in Case of a Pandemia
There are many pandemics that could happen to most Americans. Such as Black outs, zombie
apocalypse, government collapse, nuclear fallout etc. if one was to survive the pandemic here
are some skills that might be a necessity. Knowing first aid is a priority. In a situation that calls
for first aid it is important to remember the Three C s Calm Cool and Collected. You must stay
calm cool and collective in order to not escalate you hart rate making you bleed more or spread
poisoning faster than normal. Even though one is calm cool and collective one still must move
at a fast pace in order to address the problem at hand. In a survival situation a person should not
take any risk that is not necessary or helpful to his well being. If it is a large epidemic one should
look for survivors around him for help. Even though one might want to survive on his own it is
better to survive as a unit, and it will be more productive than doing it on his own[Dual
Survival]. If one is assessing others around he should ask what they are feeling then checks his
breathing, and look for any visible wounds on the body. If there are wounds on the body apply
pressure with a shirt or gauze if available, apply the material available till the bleeding is no
longer visible. If the persons leg is broken or fractured, one can use a branch to stabilize and
create a make shift cast in a survival situation [the complete sas survival manual]. If sunburned
keep cold water on it and wrap it up

Early American Literature Influenced by Religious...
In the beginning times of American Literature, Puritan writers were prevalent which grew into the
Age of Reason by way of scientists and philosophers, which eventually emerged into Romanticism
and the Renaissance writers, which developed into Realism by the middle of 19th century.
Throughout American Literature, religious ideologies and philosophies influenced the way that
writers portrayed the time period, characters, feelings, and God.
Through Puritan writers, literature is influenced by religious ideologies and philosophies. Puritans
writers, beginning in about 1560, put most of their focus into making their work God centered.

She also thanks God during situations that could seem like nothing to be thankful about like, yet
the Lord by his almighty power, preserved a number of us from death (Rowlandson 10). Through
both the narratives of the lives of Equiano and Rowlandson, the Puritan literature is influence by
religious ideologies and philosophies. By the end of the 17th century, new ideas formed in
Europe challenging the faith of the Puritans, during the period of time known as the Age of
Reason. Also known as the Enlightenment, it began with philosophers and scientists who called
themselves rationalists, believing that one can arrive at truth by using reason, instead of religious
faith or intuition. As the Puritans in the past saw God as being active in the involvement of the
workings of the universe, the rationalists compared God to a clockmaker, and that God s gift to
humanity was the ability to think in a logical manner. Like the Puritans, rationalists discovered
God through the medium of the natural world, but believed in deism, that God made it possible
to discover nature laws through their power of reason, given by Him. Benjamin Franklin s The
Autobiography, is depictive of the Age of Reason because it portrays the fact that Franklin was a
self made person and had to further his own life, rising from poverty to a scientist able to retire at

Essay On Virginia Governor
Dear Virginia Governor, President, and whomever else it may concern,
I am writing this letter due to the fact I have a great concern with the situations the plague the
area my family and I live in. I am writing a peaceful letter hoping that what I am saying can make
a change in our society. I think that every where us blacks go should be equal. I have talked with
others and no one appreciates the hate thrown towards us. Others shouldn t get offended because of
the color of our skin, we should not even be getting mistreated for having more melanin than others.
It has been brought to my attention that the hate that has been thrown towards my family and I is
outrageous, It completely disgusts me. African Americans are the main target. The... Show more

Many Americans do not see the effects it could have on African Americans down the road.
Living in poverty will continue for decades if the only jobs available for us are low income jobs.
We always have to work harder to get to where the whites are, it may take us a year to have
something so simple that they can get in a day. Hate will continue and poor schooling will
continue. We have faith in our children and we want the best of the best for them just as anyone
else. Taking hand me down books, or even using materials that are not legible, are not good
learning materials. I want to be able to say that I made a difference for those who are coming in
this world a while from now to make sure they have it better than I did. I want to fight for these
rights, even if I dont have the chance to live free. I know my works will benefit for one of my
fellow brothers or sisters.
The United States, Virginia, and local Cities, need to establish a law or ruling that all men and
women should be treated equally no matter what your skin color is. We all bleed the same blood
and we all have different outer appearances. Why can t we get together and become one? And
happy. It is not just the blacks who get mistreated it is also the Chinese, Mexicans, and even

  • 2. Different Functions of External Quality Assurance 1.1. There are a number of different functions of external quality assurance in learning and development. Vroeijenstijn (2007) highlights some of these with respect to education, a similar concept. EQA has the role of trying to help organisations to enhance and improve quality, and on the other end it is meant to provide information В¦ to key stakeholders. Protocols for external quality assurance should be aimed at continuous quality improvement, rather than merely at accreditation. As a result of this, external quality assurance is inherently beneficial to learningand development. Organisations seeking to meet the needs of external quality assurance agents must continually evaluate and adapt their processes to the current standards and legislative requirements. While the assessment function of external quality assurance provides a significant amount of motivation for organisations to engage in continuous learning and development, the goal setting function provides direction and a framework for learning and development. Organisations that face external quality assurance programs will naturally work towards meeting the standards that they face. As a result, learning and development in the organisation is guided by the standards of external quality assurance bodies and the best practices that they prescribe. By both setting the standards and creating the motivation for organisational learning and development, the functions of external quality assurance bodies play a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Persuasive Speech On Life In Our Life Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. It appears that you have taken one step closer to death. Death is all around us; the air we breathe every day, hour, minute, second is crucial to our survival. However, air can be seen as a double edge sword. Air, is what is keeping us alive, for if we stopped breathing, we would die of suffocation. On the other hand, the longer we breathe, the closerwe are towards death. In this sense, a burning what if question has been on my mind: what if the air we are breathing is a poison that is slowly killing us? Think about that. If this were to be true? What have you done...or plan to do that makes breathing this poisonous air worthy? Many people today waste much of their life doing useless things. They do not realize that each breath they spend on the couch or dreaming of things they could do, they are wasting their opportunity to really do something. Let me break this down for you. Life expectancy for a typically American is about 79 years or 948 months. Of those 79 years, 1/3 of the time is spent sleeping, leaving us with about 632 months. After taking into consideration factors such as eating, using the restroom, and browsing the internet, we are left with roughly 19 years to live. 19 years may seem like a lot, but that is only about 24% of your life that is actually in your hands. After finding out these surprising stats, I began to rethink my life. I looked a little closer around the community I grew up in and realized that there was a huge need within my community. I first began to get involved within my community eighth grade year through the Community Thanksgiving Meal. At first, I did not realize that all the people coming in for a meal or the places that needed a delivery was all just right within my community. As the years went by, I slowly became more and more involved. I started from only coming in on Thanksgiving Day to help to being there every step of the way. I remember volunteering to coordinate a clothing drive last year to give clothes to those in need during the Thanksgiving Meal. At the end of that Thanksgiving Day, a lady comes up to me and asks if she could grab a few extra items. The lady had on a thin coat and I immediately knew that she needed help. I ran and ... Websites are exposed to the outside world and everything possible should be done to ensure that they remain safe and enjoyable environments for the people who use them. Legally it is the responsibility of the owners of the website to ensure that any information stored about customers is protected and that the site is not used as a base for installing malicious software upon user s computers or launch Denial of Service Attacks against other people s sites. To learn more about the legal responsibilities you should read the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Computer Misuse Act 1990. Apart from the legal aspects of security there are also business aspects to it. An unsafe website will not attract and keep customers. Server Side security. In a pervasive world where images of unrealistic standards fuel the media on how one should look, social media has one of the most significant impacts on body dissatisfaction. Throughout the last decade, social media has become one of the most common and favored ways for people to communicate, connect, and share. After that first year I laced up my shiny black tap shoes for my first tap class, a new love was born. That love was replaced only when I learned to clog. Major trial courts take the processed felony cases and complete them; in major courts the defendants who are charged with felony crimes mainly enter a plea of guilty or not guilty, which then leads to a trial (Neubauer, 2010). The second component of our dual court system consists of appellate courts. In the U.S. judicial system, a defendant found guilty in a trial court can normally appeal to a higher federal court. These federal courts, or appellate courts, review decisions made by trial courts (Neubauer, 2010). Appellate courts can be on the federal and state level, but do not hold trials or hear new evidence. Dickens utilizes personification, motif, and symbolism to describe the relationship between the common people and Foulon. The neighborhood of the common people, Saint Antoine, is personified to show the universal feelings of rage the peasants feel toward the aristocracy. In the beginning, Saint Antoine is portrayed as just a physical place, but when Foulon is mentioned, it assumes the characteristics of a man. Foulon is an indifferent, awful man, who stood by and watched the commoners suffer, and mocked them by saying they should, eat grass. By personifying an entire neighborhood, Dickens illustrates how Foulon outraged the whole population, not just a fraction of the people. Every commoner has a personal vendetta and anger for the French nobility, and thus Saint Antoine is portrayed as one entity. The peasants hold an intense rage toward Foulon, who would make all of their lives insufferable. Foulon is not just attacked by a few commoners, he is attacked by the single entity of Saint Antoine. Grass serves as a powerful motif that reflects the vengeance of the peasants. The French aristocrat Foulon told the starving people they might eat grass. He has no regard for the ... As of February 2017, there were still about 150,000 evacuees who lost their homes, 50,000 of them were still living in temporary housing. Honshu earthquake on March 11, 2011 was a surprise. This unexpected disaster was not the largest or the deadliest earthquakeand tsunamito strike. More than 120,000 buildings were destroyed, 278,000. The total economic cost could reach up to $235 billion, the World Bank estimated, making it the costliest natural disaster in world history. That record goes to the 2004 Banda Aceh earthquake and tsunami in Sumatra, which killed more than 230,000 people. The March 11 earthquake started on a Friday at 2:46 p.m. local time. Japan s scientists had forecast a smaller earthquake would strike the northern region of Honshu, the country s main island. The direct financial damage from the disaster is estimated to be about $199 billion dollars. In Japan, residents are still recovering from the disaster. One could imagine how repetitive the car ride would be so as a way to make it a little more thrilling, I would entertain my father by asking him facetious questions. These questions ranged from subjects like, Why is the sky blue? or Are there bathrooms in Heaven? No matter how childish the question, my father would always have an elaborate answer that left me with more questions. However, once I asked my father about the origin of my name, he just answered me with four simple words: We just liked it. Recently, I ve tried to bog the mind of my mother and try to understand where she got the name Taylor Ashley from. So, you just liked the name. Idiopathic epilepsy is commonly associated with cryptogenic because they are very similar. However, there are some main differences between the two. • 39. Torques Equilibrium, and Center of Gravity Essay Torques equilibrium, and center of gravity Introduction Torque is a quantitative measure of the tendency of a force to cause or change the rotational motion of a rigid body. A torque is the result of force acting at a distance from an axis of rotation. An essential thing to keep in mind is that the magnitude of the torque is equal to the product of the forces perpendicular distance and magnitude. Theory The magnitude of the torque (t) is found from the product of the force F and the perpendicular distance from the axis of rotation to the forces line of action. When there is no net torque acting on a stationary rigid body, the body will then be in static rotational equilibrium and there is no rotational motion. Materials ... Both the results and percent error of the experimental value were calculated. Case 3 (unknown mass/balance principle) A known mass was compared with an unknown mass with the use of the balance principle. With the meter stick on the support stand the unknown mass (m1) was suspended near one end of the meter stick while the other stick was suspended with m2. Until the meter stick was in balance its position was adjusted. The unknown mass was then removed in which the actual mass was then determined by using a laboratory balance. Analysis The experiment concluded that the center of gravity of the meter stick did not change although the equilibrium was required to be re balanced once the masses were added. Depending on the mass at one end the distance further away from the center changed. If the mass on one side was greater than the mass on the opposite side the clamp from that side would have to move further away from the center in order to recover the equilibrium. There was a slight percent difference when the torque for both sides were calculated. The cause of this may have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
