Who Is Theseus In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Analysis of the Character Theseus Love is a theme that is greatly explored throughout A Midsummer
Night s Dream, and is experienced in many different ways among the different characters. Focusing
on the character of Theseus, we see that his portrayal of love is very different to the rest of the lovers,
and we even question whether he is experiencing love at all. His character and views on love develop
drastically during the play, and I want to explore this progression in detail. Although he only appears
in the beginning and end of the play, Theseus is a key character with great power and influence. Being
the mythic leader of Athens, Theseus is the overall dispenser of justice throughout the play. When
Egeus turns to him to settle the dispute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first he does not believe the lovers story about their time in the woods and dismisses Hippolyta s
concerns, saying I never may believe there antique fables, nor these fairy toys (5.1.2). He rejects the
ideas of magic, only accepting explanations that are logical and which make sense to him. We see that
Theseus logical mindset fits perfectly with the overall scene in Athens, which is a place of fact and
reality. During the play within a play in act 5, Theseus begins to recognize the need for imagination in
order to believe the ridiculous situations of the play. Earlier, Theseus did not yet understand the value
of imagination and dreaming, which we see when he compares the lunatic, the lover, and the poet.
Although they are three very different types of people, he states that all three are of imagination all
compact (5.1.8), meaning they all have a similarity: they are dreamers. Towards the end of the play of
Pyramus and Thisbe, we begin to see Theseus become more open to imagination, stating that it is
needed to make sense of the ridiculous plot of the play he is

Cuban Revolution Extended Essay
To what extent were Fidel Castro s policies consistent to his pre revolutionary goals?
Abstract goes here
Introduction.
In 1959, Fidel Castro led a group of rebel forces to end and overthrow Fulgencio Batista s regime in
an effort to free the Cuban people from his tyrannous rule. For very many different political reasons
this has been portrayed as an act of great injustice and hypocrisy in the modern world. A lot of this has
of course been advocated primarily by the US due to the high level of political tension between the
two nations that developed in the mid 1950s. Believing this conventional wisdom that Castro was
simply an evil communist who oppressed his people and stripped them of their human rights is very
dangerous because it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also and perhaps most importantly, this law prohibited the ownership of any sugar plantations by any
foreigners, something that Castro felt so passionately was the blame for the dysfunctional economy
that was in place during Batista s regime due to him allowing foreign industries to take advantage of
the island s resources.
After it became officially globally acknowledged that Cuba was in fact a communist state and was
being led through a dictatorship run by Castro, it did not take long before powerful enemies and
essential allies were formed. The act of seizing all foreign land with none or very little compensation
was received with great hostility amongst those who lost in their property through this process, and
probably the reaction that had the biggest impact on Cuba s economy was that of the US. Castro s
communistic policies did not of course help calm this resentment and also took part in leading to the
establishment of trade embargos with Cuba from the US. This meant that Cuba would now lose a very
valuable buyer of their precious sugar, [5] but they did however gain another one, a powerful nation
that shared quite similar Marxist ideals and were quick to form an alliance with the Cubans, the
USSR.

Analysis Of The Story Of Ishmael And The Story Of Esau
Two stories and One lesson While reading the story of Ishmael and the story of Esau, readers could
easily find some similarities. Both stories delineates the process of the disfranchisement of the elder
sons firstborn right, the expulsion of certain characters, and the instruction of God. Those similarities
make people to wonder that whether the two stories are just the same kind of story written to teach the
believer the same lesson. This essay is divided into three parts and aimed to prove that the
disfranchisement stories of Ishmael and Esau are essentially the same story told over two generations
First of all, every main character of the Ismael narratives has its exact counterpart in the Esau
narratives: Ishmael corresponds to Esau, Isaac to Jacobs, Abraham to Isaac, and Sarah to Rebekah. In
Ishmael and Esau s case, according to Genesis, Ishmael was the child of Hager, the Egyptian slave,
and Abraham. He was hated by his mother , Sarah, who was Ishmael s mother in law according to the
ancient surrogate motherhood customs: a wife could give her maid to her husband and claim the child
as her own () and initially protected by his father Abraham. He was the victim who was casted out by
Sarah and lost his birthright. Esau was also hated by his mother, Rebekah, while loved by his father,
Isaac, accordingly(Genesis 25:28), and he lost his birthright and the death blessing in the end. Not
only did Esau and Ishmael share the similar kind of living circumstances, they also

The Conflict Between The Church And Secular Authority
Through the Investiture Conflict in 1076, it can be seen that the Church had wanted to dominate the
secular authority. The Investiture Conflict had marked a change in the relationship between the
Church and secular authority in which the Church wanted to establish its right to rule over the secular
rulers. The disputes between the Church and secular authority were a continuation of an ongoing
tension over who had ultimate authority to rule over Christendom and within kingdoms. These
disputes also dealt with the rights and privileges the Church had acquired within kingdoms especially
the elevation of the clergy above the laity by putting the clergy above the law with separate church
courts. By the mid eleventh century, it can be seen that the Church had gained strength to challenge
the secular ruler for authority in their own kingdoms and establishing special rights and privileges for
its clergy. These special rights and privileges had put clergy members on top of the rest of the
population. The two most important disputes between the Church and secular authority over these
issues were between King Henry II of England (1154 1189) and Thomas Becket, Archbishop of
Canterbury from 1162 to 1170, and that between King Philip IV of France (1285 1314) and Pope
Boniface VIII (1294 1303). Both Henry II and Philip IV wanted to be able to better control crime in
their kingdoms due to the separate church courts for clergy that led to issues of criminous clerks.

Casino Royale Symbolism
How James Bond is symbolism in the story Casino Royale by Ian Fleming such as how James Bond s
car is a symbol of him. Along with how his drink and his gadgets symbolized James Bond.
In this book James Bond s car was the Bentley 4.5 liter and it was supercharged and it is called the
blower Bentley. The reason it is called the blower Bentley is because of the supercharger.
Superchargers spin really fast with the RPMs of the motor while its spinning it s blowing air into the
engine that s why it is called the blower Bentley. The Bentley 4.5 liter was made from 1927 to 1931.
James Bond bought his in 1933. They only produced 720 4.5 liter Bentleys. Only fifty five of them
included the supercharger made by Amherst Villiers. The Bentley 4.5 liter was a perfect car for James
Bond at the time. It matched him. It was fast with the supercharger. The car helps him chase down a
Citroen that Le Chiffre drove. In Casino Royale the third burglar was named Le Chiffre and he
jumped in a Citroen and tried to escape James Bond. in the book Casino Royale the do not give us
much information about the Citroen he drove but with the information we are given we can narrow it

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Verse 12
What is the appropriate understanding of verse 12? Is the metaphor saying a destruction but a small
part of it will be rescued to indicate there is still hope for just the remaining? The commentary helps
me to understand it clearly. It says that it signifies a new oracle whose image offer a macabre sense of
hope (p.294). It means rescue may be part of God s intension but this rescue provides little confidence
to those who pause to hear what is genuinely saying. It means the remnant of Samaria will only
remain. Here Amos does not say who is like the lion and the commentary has no further comment. I
believe the lion is probably refers to God as in verse 3:8. The image used here is very powerful to
speak of the total destruction of Samaria by enemy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How verse 4:13 relates to 4:12? The commentary helps me to confirm my speculation that the phrase
does not connote a pleasant encounter and it means the end is near (p.304). My understanding will
then be Yahweh s patience has ended and he has no further hope of bringing the people back to the
covenant relationship. The commentary allows me to know that verse 13 is a doxology with themes to
show Yahweh has the power to create and has power to destroy it. It points out this doxology
coincides with the imagery of the destruction of Samara in 9:1 with the shaking/shattering of the
sanctuary threshold, a judgment that results in the death of the people of the northern kingdom (p.
307). It helps me to see to understand this means no one can stand in front of Yahweh to survive his

Boeing and Supply Chain Structural Improvements Essay
Learning Plan 6
Graded Assignment: Boeing
Read the profile of Boeing and the company s 787 Dreamliner found in your textbook. This profile
serves as an excellent example of how a company used an infrastructure change to improve its supply
chain. In making this improvement, which of the five ways of implementing an infrastructure change,
identified in section 10.6 of your text, did Boeing employ? Do a little research on your own to identify
a company that has used the second main approach (i.e., a structural change) commonly employed by
organizations to improve their supply chains. Write a brief profile of the company you ve selected
following the pattern of the Boeing profile you ve just examined. The profile should be one to two

Essentially the change it made was number three in the listing detailed in section 10.6 of our text it
changed the configuration of factories, warehouses, or retail locations. When work usually performed
internally, is delegated to another firm, the company is said to outsource the work. Such is the case in
the construction of the Boeing 787. The companies involved include Messier Bughatti of France,
Rolls Royce of the UK, Alenia Aeronatuica of Italy, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan and
Chjengdu Aircraft Group of China. This outsourcing decision means that 85% of the construction of
this aircraft is supplied by strategic supply partners of Boeing. Those parts are eventually shipped to
the Boeing plant in Washington by road, rail, sea and plane for final assembly of the Dreamliner.
There are several other ways to make supply chain improvements. One of those ways includes the
pursuit of major process simplification. This is used to improve supply chains when the processes
have become so complex or so out of date that they are no longer cost efficient or no longer effective
to maintain. It is said that a clean slate approach is taken when the new processes are designed from
scratch without any consideration of the former process methods. This overhaul includes not only
major changes to the production itself but also includes changes made in the way the business

The Importance Of Poverty In Education
Life in the Eyes of A Poor Child; A Light at the End of the Dark Tunnel
Where there is no struggle, there is no strength. Oprah Winfrey Oprah Winfrey displays a common
occurrence of struggle in the everyday life of each individual across the world. Struggle is a universal
obstacle everyone faces some more than others. While struggling may bring strength to some, the
hardship can take a toll on others. People all across America face some type of struggle whether it be
clearly seen or hidden underneath the surface. One of the main struggles that children in America face
today is poverty. Living in poverty can not only be detrimental to them everyday, but to their future.
Throughout history we have tried to redress this issue several ways. Rather than providing them with
handed out resources, people need to give poverty stricken children the tools to create a better life for
themselves. Childhood poverty in the United States can be ameliorated through education. 51% of
children in the United States are in poverty.(Huffington Post) This statistic displays that more than half
of the adolescents in the United States battle with the issue of poverty everyday. The number of
children facing this struggle continues to grow every year. These children due to their low economic
status set them in a disadvantaged position in their education. A child in poverty lags behind 18
months in cognitive development at age 4. Then in third grade their vocab is one third that of their

My Experience At My Church
Have you ever felt like you were getting called upon to do something? I ve experienced this after my
dad passed away. I felt God calling me to serve my church. I started to become more active in my
church s faithful followers group. I felt God come into my life. I got the chance to go on this amazing
trip that changed my life around.
I was sitting in my confirmation class on Sunday afternoon, when my teacher, Melanie, was talking
about all the upcoming events. She had an eye catching video about the National Catholic Youth
Conference or NCYC. The group from two years about created the video. They went into detail of
what we d get out of the trip. The thing that stuck out the most was the unique feeling of God s
presents. It was time to pay for our spot on this trip. The cost was $50, so you would have a seat on
the bus. This frightened me because I didn t know if I wanted to go for sure. I was going to be around
200,000 other people, only seven being ones from my church. Preparing for this trip was time
consuming. We had to dedicate all our free time this summer to setting up fundraisers. The trip was
$510 per person. Our fundraising consisted of selling Pastry Puffins, bake sales, and 50/50 tickets.
Also there were people who would donate so they could get a free pancake breakfast out of the deal.
We had meetings on top of meetings. We had to think of every possible thing we could to make this
trip possible. We discussed trading items for weeks. We finally figured

the critique and views of the discourse of underachievement among researchers in their works. It is

Christian Theism In A New Hope And A New Hope
What would you think is the most loved and cherished movies of all time? If you asked most people
Star Wars would be very high on that list of most beloved movies of all time, and I would personally
agree. Despite what you think of these movies there is obviously a message behind each of these
movies that teach the audience a lesson beyond the watching of the movies. The original trilogy of
Star Wars models an almost perfect example of Christian theism. Obviously, we should start looking at
the first movie of the trilogy, A New Hope , to find the similarities between Star Wars and Christian
theism. Luke Skywalker is introduces to the audience as the protagonist that wants to accomplish
memorable deeds in his young life. He wants to do good things for everyone, and that is the first
parallel is, the tangible good and evil. There are two sides of the Force in the Star Wars universe, a
light side and a dark side, or in other words good and evil. On the light side you are supposed to be
selfless, loyal, and responsible. The dark side on the other hand is all about selfishness, destruction of
relationships, and getting others to do what you want for you. In the theistic worldview good is what
God deems it to be, loving your neighbor, giving to the poor, and following the set rules of God. Evil
is whatever goes against God, including hating other, envy, and getting what you want at the expense
of others. Someone needs to save people from the destruction that evil brings into

President Presidential Debates And Vice President s Views...
It was a great experience to watch vice presidential debates as it was different from presidential
debates. Also, was engaging to see what will be different from presidents to vice presidents. As I
watched vice president debates after third presidential debate, I can say that topics were same. They
were discussing topics about immigration, Syria, Russia, economy and education. I did not like that
vice presidents interrupted each other a lot of times, but overall, it was a very cognitive and open
debate.
The first topic was about economic issues and vice president s views about our economy. The reporter
has asked the first question about their explanation of a fact that non partisan committees said neither
of their economic plans will reduce the national debt. Pence started by stating that he has done an
excellent job as a governor with balanced budget. Republicans plan is to cut taxes and improve the
education. They believe cutting taxes will help US economy to move again. Also, he has stated the
willingness of repealing Obama Care since it does not work as it is right now. According to Pence,
when they will get the economy growing, only after they can deal with the national debt. Kiane
brought the 5 components plan that they are planning to make. It consists of investing in
manufacturing, investing in work force, making colleges debt free, promoting fairness, promoting
small business growth, and raising taxes. In my opinion, democrats already have a clear plan, on the

By the time her final hours arrive, Granny Weatherall has grown tired of people treating her like a

Compare And Contrast Bud Light And Coor Light
There are many light beers out there in today s market that have their very own unique taste and
exquisite way to advertise their product. Within the light beer market the two well known beers are

intended beer, Whereas Coors Light takes more of a traditional stance. Bud Light on the other hand
advertise towards today society by giving us a summertime feeling with the cruise ship and the group
of people drinking while having a live band. Coors Light keeps a traditional look as being winter time,
with the Rocky Mountains, and bold letters that says, GIVE HEAT THE COLD SHOULDER. I
myself find I m more drawn into the Bud Light advertisement because of the season it s representing,
the color, and even the social event that s going on. Both Bud Light and Coors Light make excellence
light beers, but an appropriate choice depends on the beer drinker taste, finances, and household
accommodations. In the Bud Light advertisement the colors is the main thing you notice. Its many
different shades of blue with a hint of white which gives off a warm feeling almost like summertime.
Bud Light stays true to their colors whether it is in magazine to even their web page. The colors
remain blue like their cans and bottles. The text within it picture are not very big but the name of the
product which is Bud Light appears in five places throughout the advertisement. The name is pretty

Mental Illness In A Rose For Emily And The Yellow Wallpaper
Mental illness affects millions of people each and every day. Mental illness can range from minor
setbacks, to larger, more significant issues like insanity. The underlying theme of many American
literature often deals with what causes mental illness. In William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and
Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper, the authors both assert a similar theme. In Faulkner
s short story, a woman goes through a psychological change as her isolation from the rest of her town
increases over time. Gilman s short story is about a woman that is locked up by her husband until her
depression turns into insanity. Faulkner and Gilman use similar writing styles to effectively suggest
that isolation leads to mental illness. With ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though they both assert the same theme, Gilman and Faulkner use different point of views to show
the reader the theme. In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman writes the story in first person to show the
reader what an insane person s thoughts could be. The unnamed woman in Gilman s story consistently
uses I and Me to give the reader a more personal account on how isolation was affecting her mind.
Gilman uses first person to effectually depict how her isolation from the world caused her to become
paranoid of what her husband, John, was trying to do by keeping her in the house and also start to
obsess over the wallpaper. The reader can see how her thoughts eventually turned from being paranoid
to only be about the wallpaper. Instead of a first person point of view, Faulkner writes in the third
person point of view. In A Rose for Emily, Emily does not tell the story. Instead, the town tells the
story about Emily s life. By using an outsider s point of view, Faulkner gives the reader a different
perspective on how isolation causes insanity. He uses third person to effectively illustrate the physical
part of insanity. Emily started to isolate herself from the rest of the town and murdered her fiance just
so that she could always be with him, even sleeping with him so long that there were hard indents in
her pillow. The reader can see how the town saw her

ABSTRACT
The objective of this project Online Health Insurance System (Medicare) is to develop a web
application to an organization which is intending to provide health insurance plans to all its
employees. We are formed a team of 6 members to work on this project and divided the work among
ourselves and tried to complete the actual intended function of this application.
There are two types of users Admin and member.Admin is the person of an organization who will be
maintaining this application like adding policy details, adding insurance company details, getting the
employees registered, approving the requests raised by employees to get a health plan and so on.Both
Admin and member need to login into the application to access this web application. They can register
and provide the details to login. They even have the feature to change password, update employee
details and so on.
We have developed the application using C#, .Net for the front end along with HTML and CSS on
Microsoft Visual Studio. We have developed this application following MVC pattern. For the backend

information that creates silos in companies into one database. Laudon and Laudon (2015, p. 362))
state that a good CRM helps companies answer critical questions such as who their most profitable

(Marketline 2015, p.4). Its main focus is on providing software products to businesses. With its CRM
suite, the company promises to grant analytics visibility to everyone in the company. Relationship
managers would be able to open new accounts and to access the database to locate existing customers.
The system would provide instantaneous transaction history whether they were done online, at the
ATM, by a teller or by a customer service representative. Relationship managers can see their active
(Microsoft Dynamics CRM Features, 2016) sales leads, apply for loans, and see their pipeline of
pending approvals. Customer conversations with call center associates would be readily available for
access by all applicable staff. Immediate coding of account type is available without sending to a back
office department for finalization. One important feature is the capability to view all past owners
whether an account is active or closed (Microsoft Dynamics CRM Features, 2016). Another feature
that would work well with the Bank s paper reduction initiative is the capture of signatures either by
scanning or by using an electronic signature pad (Microsoft Dynamics CRM Features, 2016).
Currently, RMs need to scan new account contracts to a back office area using a multi function device.

Allegory and Symbolism in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Young...
Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown is an excellent example of the use of allegories and
symbolism as a form of satire on Puritan faith. According to Frank Preston Stearns, author of The Life
and Genius of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hawthorne may have intended this story as an exposure of the
inconsistency, and consequent hypocrisy, of Puritanism (Stearns 181). Throughout the story of Young
Goodman Brown, Hawthorne tries to infuse as many symbols and allegories as he can to enhance the
overall meaning of his story. He uses the village, Goodman Brown, Faith, the man in the forest, and

story he has changed into an adult and does not know if he has faith anymore. Although Brown s faith
is questionable the books states that he continues to pray and go to church (Hawthorne 337), which
would be considered hypocritical to some. If Brown s name is exchanged with Hawthorne s the
readers can see why he saw the Puritans hypocritical and why he left his faith. Notably Faith, the
protagonist s wife, plays a huge role as an allegory and a symbol throughout Hawthorne s Young
Goodman Brown. In this story Faith s name plays as an allegory. At first this could easily be missed
because it sounds like a common name for a woman, but once the readers get further into the story
they realize that her name plays an enormous role in the story s plot. Faith s name symbolizes Brown s
faith in God. In the story when Brown meets the man in the forest the man says, You are late
Goodman Brown, and Brown replies, Faith kept me back awhile (Hawthorne 330). At this point of the
story the audience knows for

Chapter 3 Digestion
Cheyenne De Jong
October 8, 2017
The digestive system is a group of organs that work together. It is responsible for taking whole foods
and turning them into energy and nutrients to allow the body to function, grow and repair itself. Today,
I will explain how the digestive system performs this unique process. I m having a loaded tuna
sandwich with lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayonnaise. The bread of my sandwich is mostly
carbohydrates. Carbs are the sugars, starches and fibers found in fruits, grains, vegetables and milk
products. Carbohydrates contain macronutrients that provide fuel for the Central Nervous System and
energy for working muscles. The tuna in my sandwich contains mostly proteins and is also high in
vitamin B12. Proteins are substances that have amino acids, compounds, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen,
nitrogen and sometimes sulfur and are found in many foods. They are essential in the diet for growth
and repair of tissue and can be obtained from foods such as meat, fish, eggs, milk and legumes. The
lettuce contains fiber, carbs, and vitamins C and A. The tomato also has vitamin C. My cheese has
protein, calcium, vitamin B12 and also fats, or lipids. The mayonnaise is mostly lipids as well. Lipid is
another word for fats . They are stored in the body as energy reserves and are also important
components of cell membranes. As I take my first bite, the sandwich enters my mouth. My mouth
releases enzymes like amylase and

Gay Marriage Moment
Gay marriage should be allowed nobody is perfect. In this world we all have the ability to love
somebody. We shouldn t judge others, all of us are human beings just because we don t like a man or

Also, the government thinks that he owns marriage with power but it shouldn t be that way. It is stated
from the book the Homosexuality by the author Robert H. Knight , One possible answer is that the
government owns it by virtue of its power to enact legislation that grants married persons certain
privileges while charging them with certain responsibilities. The government basic wants to control
this people that are not straight. Just because they are gay or lesbian or homosexual just mean that they
do wrong to our society. They have the same right as a straight couple. It is just that people are not
very aware, and they don t do research about it. That s why they see everything wrong about it. In the
book Homosexuality It is Vernell stated But psychologists and theologians have in every way sought
to elevate heterosexual love and debase demean, pathologize, vilify or deny love between people of
the same sex reduce it to lust, claim it.... That we cannot deny the love if we are attracted to our same
sex then that s our choice and nobody must tell them nothing.
The catholic church is against gay marriage because of their values. It is stated in the America article,
Growing Latino Catholic population challenges, energizes church, Mexico City Cardinal Norberto
Rivera Carrera criticized the city s legalization of gay marriage and adoption by same sex couples . It
is because of this people that oppose gay marriage cannot be legalize.

Descriptive Essay About Northern Pines Restaurant
Northern Pines Restaurant; Mediocre at best
Looking for a new place to eat that is affordable and food that tastes amazing? If so, Northern Pines is
not for you!! Do not be deceived by what is perpetrated on the web. Upon internet investigation, The
Northern Pines Restaurant is a relaxed go to for all day American fare with a 4.3/5 rating I was
expecting a lot more than what was presented to me. The main reasons I was ill fated by this restaurant
was the eerie atmosphere, price of the food, and the overall poor service I experienced.
To begin with, the atmosphere was all but welcoming. Being new to the Flagstaff area, I was unsure of
the location of this diner. When I arrived there, I was immediately confused on if I was given the
correct address because the place I had arrived at looked rather scary. Northern Pines was a small
diner located between two sleazy hotels surrounded by three gas stations and a pub. The exterior was
unsettling to say the least with the lack of lights except for one fluorescent green light that made me
feel like I was in a bad indie horror flick. The inside, while slightly better, did not give off the
impression I had been hoping. When I walked in I was immediately engulfed by a smell similar to my
grandmothers closet, choosing to ignore it, I realized while how off putting the smell, it was not
necessarily a death sentence. Another reason the atmosphere was very uncomfortable was due to the
loudness of the workers there. For example, the

Violence And Sex On Television
Violence and Sex on Television: Effects on the Younger Audience In today s society, the media is used
greatly for communication, advertisement, information, and for numerous other reasons. The world
has evolved by technological advances as well as by the type of content that is put out on the internet,
radio, and especially on television. In particular, violence and sex are two of the most controversial
content types that have been recently used loosely in the present as compared to the past years. It has
become sort of a norm in our society and in popular culture. It is very debatable topic because of
arguments of how it can take a toll or influence on behavior. Not only has this content been used more
frequently, it has also become easier for the younger audience to view because of how freely and
loosely it is used in regular everyday television. I strongly believe that long term viewing of violence
and sex will ultimately effect and even alter behavior of younger audiences.
Violence and sex are also very easy for the younger audience to access because of how freely it is used
in regular everyday television. According to a fact on Teen Health and Media, on average teenagers
spend more time in front of the television than any other activity besides sleeping. The fact is that
television is a major part in everyday lives. Since the younger adult watches a great amount of
television, it is likely that the way of life shown on shows will translate for them to real

The Time Of My Father Essay
The time in which I was born was very different than the one my parents had to live in when they
were children. I was born in a small town in Colombia, where no more than a hundred families lived.
The entire population of my hometown was Catholic. There was a small chapel next to my house and
the priest went there once a month to celebrate Mass. He and the seminarians stayed at our home,
when they went for the Holy Week and Christmas missions. On Saturdays, my brother and I went to a
town an hour away afoot or 20 minutes on a horse, to have further studies. Ninety percent of that town
s population were Pentecostal and only 10 % were Catholic. There was a big Pentecostal Church in
the middle of the town and a small Catholic church outside the village. My brother and I went to study
there on Saturdays because the Pentecostals offered to us a couple of American godparents who sent
us gifts twice a year from the US. Nonetheless, to get those gifts we had to attend school on Saturdays,
take pictures with the gifts in our hands, and attend the Pentecostal service once a year. During that
service, my brother and I laughed the whole time at the people dancing in the church. My aunt, the
only Pentecostal member of a family of twelve siblings, got embarrassed for our behavior every time
we attended the service. It was very interesting to grow up in a country where almost all the
population were Christians and, at least at that time, 92 percent of the 45 million Colombians reported

Henry David Thoreau Symbolism
Henry David Thoreau was a complex writer and used a lot of symbolism to help express some of his
meaning. For example, in Where I Lived, and What I Lived For he used morning and bathing as
symbols for the point he was trying to get across. Thoreau referenced bathing as a religious exercise,
and it was a method of renewing oneself, They say that characters were engraven on the bathing tub of
King Tching thang to this effect: Renew thyself completely each day; do it again, and again, and
forever again (Thoreau 102). Obviously whenever you take a bath you are not going to become a new
person, but Thoreau is saying that bathing in the morning is refreshing and makes you feel fresher and
more motivated throughout the day. To Thoreau morning was, A cheerful invitation to make my life of
equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself (Thoreau 102). He was all about
simplicity which was the main reason that he moved into the woods in the first place. He goes on to
claim that the morning time is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

faces to improve his life, To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts. Every man is
tasked to make his life, even in its details, worthy of the contemplation of his most elevated and
critical hour (Thoreau 103). Thoreau describes beautiful art instead as painting a picture, or carving a

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus ( Sle )
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that affects multiple tissues and
systems and with significant variable clinical features and organ involvement (Cava, 2010). It is
characterized by a chronic, relapsing, inflammatory and often febrile multisystemic disorder of
connective tissue with wide spectrum of involvement of skin, joints, kidneys and serosal membranes.
The exact etiology is noknown, but it represents failure of the regulatory mechanisms of immune
system in which body s own defenses are turned against themselves (Edworthy, 2005##########).
It has a worldwide distribution with unpredictable course of flares and remissions, where a cumulative
damage over time significantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The disease is milder and survival is higher among persons with isolated cutaneous and
musculoskeletal disease than in those with renal and CNS involvement. the most frequent causes of
death in SLE patients are Infections and diseases of the cardiovascular, renal, pulmonary, and central
nervous systems (Bartels et al., 2012).
In spite of the improvement of the survival rate, patients with SLE still have a higher death rate (3 5
times) than that of general population (Schur, 2001).
B. Etiology:
The definite pathologic mechanisms of SLE remain elusive, and the etiology of SLE is known to be
multi factorial, involving genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. Environmental triggers with
susceptible genetic background, act on the immune system to initiate autoimmunity (Tiffin et al.,
2013).
1 Genetic factors: There is a clear genetic component in SLE, with a sibling risk ratio 8 29 folds
higher than that in the general population and a 10 folds increase in disease concordance in identical
twins. In addition, there is a 24 56% concordance rate in monozygotic twins, compared with a 2 5%
risk in dizygotic twins (Deng and Tsao, 2010).
Many genes that may contribute to lupus have been identified by means of whole genome scans from
families in whom multiple members have SLE (Namjou et al., 2007). The genes associated

but only if someone beat me to the room. Normally I m the first person there because I like sitting at
the back of the classroom and those are normally the first seats to go. Imagine our surprise when we
found out that we wouldn t be staying at a lodge. We would be out in the wilderness, using flimsy old
cloth tents. We were told to sign a waiver, should any freak accident occur on the trip the university
would not be liable.
We would be treated like adults, we could do whatever we like during our spare time. Very few tents
so the eighteen of us would have to share and it would be three to a tent. Only our professor got his

Buy Nothing Day Essay
Could you go twenty four hours without purchasing any goods? In Canada in 1992, a day was
organized to increase awareness of excessive consumerism, called Buy Nothing Day. It urged citizens
to not purchase any goods within a twenty four hour period. Since 1992, this day has been held yearly
in many other nations. Citizens have conflicting viewpoints on the role of Buy Nothing Day as to
whether it is successful or unsuccessful, however I believe it is unsuccessful for countries to
implement. While annual Buy Nothing Day increases awareness to excessive consumerism and
exposes the environmental and ethical consequences of overconsumption, it is unrealistic, negatively

Annual Buy Nothing Day is as unrealistic as a unicorn and lacks practicality for the general public.
Additionally, Buy Nothing Day effects both small and large businesses negatively. Many people
accept the idea of this annual day easily and do not think about the negative effects to businesses
around the country. However, culturally, some people are similar to the frog in the short story The
Parable of the Frog in the Well from Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa because they are unwilling to
accept new ideas like the idea of yearly Buy Nothing Day. Citizens should not feel obligated to accept
this new idea because of its effects to businesses. Most businesses rely on daily income to keep their
doors open and to pay their employees. If a business were to lose a day s worth of income, it could
cost the business tons of money. Some businesses would have to determine if it would be worth
closing their stores for a day. Small businesses would be negatively affected the most since they are
dependent on daily incomes to pay their employees and keep their business running smoothly. The
industry of online purchases has also become very popular in recent years. This annual day would
require online shopping to stop for a twenty four hour period. It would be very difficult to discourage
people from shopping online or monitoring their shopping habits on Buy Nothing Day. It would cause
an inconvenience for people of all kinds.

Culture Industry Theory
It is increasingly clear that media and culture today are of central importance to the maintenance and
reproduction of contemporary societies. Cultures expose society to different personalities, provide
models, which display various forms of societal life and cultivate various ways to introduce people
into dominant forms of thought and action. These are the types of activities integrate people into
society and create our public sphere. Media and technology surround our society; engrained into the
fabric of our existence so much so, that it has become hard to find an aspect of life not influenced by
its effects. For this reason, media controllers, wield extreme power and influence over the lives of

Debord believed that commodity creation was what characterized new consumer societies, and the
idea of society of the spectacle was a way to analyze theses emerging cultural forms. For Debord, the
media is a part of this spectacle. Debord defines spectacles as, an exhibit of dazzling perfusion of
commodities and things to purchase which in turn [are] celebrated in advertising campaigns that
inscribed the new consumer items with an aura of magic and divinity ,( Durham and Kellner 14). This
is what Burger King has done in its marketing strategies. In one of its most recent marketing
campaigns, Burger King took their trademarked Whopper to various remote locations across the world
and surveyed different groups of people, all of whom have never seen let alone eaten a hamburger
before in their life, asking them which burger they like best, the Whopper or Burger Kings competitor
McDonalds Big Mac . A campaign called Whopper Virgins . Whopper Virgins painted the picture to
consumers who viewed the video, that the Whopper, and therefore Burger King, where a commodity
that nobody deserved to live without because of their life changing abilities. Society as spectacle also,
encompasses all the means and methods ruling powers employ, outside of direct force, which subject
individuals to societal manipulation while obscuring the nature and effects of operations of
domination and subordination , (Durham and Kellner 15). Shot in the form of a

How Significant Is R2P In Relation To Human Rights...
R2P has been celebrated as a new international norm. How significant is R2P in relation to human

R2P, identified as the responsibility to protect was firstly established in 2001 and initially presented in
the report of the International Commission on the Intervention and State Sovereignty (ICISS) A group
of retired politicians, diplomats and humanitarians chaired by former Australian foreign minister Garth
Evans, and highly respected former Algerian diplomat Mohammed Sahnoun (Glanville and IVONNE,

There were many difficulties which arose as there were many questions which occurred such as who
has the right to authority? to authorize military intervention for humanitarian purposes? (Heywood,
2011) This is usually referred to the UN security council, this emphasises on the power in which the
security council holds and how much responsibility they have, to protect and maintain peace and
security. Secondly, Kofi Annan tried to reconcile the tension between sovereignty and human rights,
by arguing that, in a context of globalization and international cooperation s, the state should be
viewed as the servant of people and vice versa (Annan,1999) . Changing attitudes towards the norm
are reflected in the growth in the influence of such doctrines of intervention as the responsibility to
protect is that there is an onus on the international community to intervene in situations, where the
lives of a country s civilian population are threatened by the actions of government (Guelke, 2012)
However, this can be seen as a disadvantages towards responsibility to protect as stated above people s
lives and safety are in the hands of governments which in some occasions cannot be good, as not all
civilians agree with government verdicts. Finally, Russia is regarded as a weak rival of the west in geo
strategic terms, its capacity to project power remains very limited (Guelke, 2012). Another example
includes; Iraq, they do not follow the human right law, which shows that they are in need for
protection to prevent waste of supreme court time and funding. Iraq has one of the most corrupt
governments in the world, due to lack of human rights, which is defining the lives of civilians within
their country. It is evident that there is a significant need for the right to protect in countries such as

  • 2. Who Is Theseus In A Midsummer Night s Dream Analysis of the Character Theseus Love is a theme that is greatly explored throughout A Midsummer Night s Dream, and is experienced in many different ways among the different characters. Focusing on the character of Theseus, we see that his portrayal of love is very different to the rest of the lovers, and we even question whether he is experiencing love at all. His character and views on love develop drastically during the play, and I want to explore this progression in detail. Although he only appears in the beginning and end of the play, Theseus is a key character with great power and influence. Being the mythic leader of Athens, Theseus is the overall dispenser of justice throughout the play. When Egeus turns to him to settle the dispute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first he does not believe the lovers story about their time in the woods and dismisses Hippolyta s concerns, saying I never may believe there antique fables, nor these fairy toys (5.1.2). He rejects the ideas of magic, only accepting explanations that are logical and which make sense to him. We see that Theseus logical mindset fits perfectly with the overall scene in Athens, which is a place of fact and reality. During the play within a play in act 5, Theseus begins to recognize the need for imagination in order to believe the ridiculous situations of the play. Earlier, Theseus did not yet understand the value of imagination and dreaming, which we see when he compares the lunatic, the lover, and the poet. Although they are three very different types of people, he states that all three are of imagination all compact (5.1.8), meaning they all have a similarity: they are dreamers. Towards the end of the play of Pyramus and Thisbe, we begin to see Theseus become more open to imagination, stating that it is needed to make sense of the ridiculous plot of the play he is ... • 3. Cuban Revolution Extended Essay To what extent were Fidel Castro s policies consistent to his pre revolutionary goals? Abstract goes here Introduction. In 1959, Fidel Castro led a group of rebel forces to end and overthrow Fulgencio Batista s regime in an effort to free the Cuban people from his tyrannous rule. For very many different political reasons this has been portrayed as an act of great injustice and hypocrisy in the modern world. A lot of this has of course been advocated primarily by the US due to the high level of political tension between the two nations that developed in the mid 1950s. Believing this conventional wisdom that Castro was simply an evil communist who oppressed his people and stripped them of their human rights is very dangerous because it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also and perhaps most importantly, this law prohibited the ownership of any sugar plantations by any foreigners, something that Castro felt so passionately was the blame for the dysfunctional economy that was in place during Batista s regime due to him allowing foreign industries to take advantage of the island s resources. After it became officially globally acknowledged that Cuba was in fact a communist state and was being led through a dictatorship run by Castro, it did not take long before powerful enemies and essential allies were formed. The act of seizing all foreign land with none or very little compensation was received with great hostility amongst those who lost in their property through this process, and probably the reaction that had the biggest impact on Cuba s economy was that of the US. Castro s communistic policies did not of course help calm this resentment and also took part in leading to the establishment of trade embargos with Cuba from the US. This meant that Cuba would now lose a very valuable buyer of their precious sugar, [5] but they did however gain another one, a powerful nation that shared quite similar Marxist ideals and were quick to form an alliance with the Cubans, the USSR. ... • 4. Analysis Of The Story Of Ishmael And The Story Of Esau Two stories and One lesson While reading the story of Ishmael and the story of Esau, readers could easily find some similarities. Both stories delineates the process of the disfranchisement of the elder sons firstborn right, the expulsion of certain characters, and the instruction of God. Those similarities make people to wonder that whether the two stories are just the same kind of story written to teach the believer the same lesson. This essay is divided into three parts and aimed to prove that the disfranchisement stories of Ishmael and Esau are essentially the same story told over two generations First of all, every main character of the Ismael narratives has its exact counterpart in the Esau narratives: Ishmael corresponds to Esau, Isaac to Jacobs, Abraham to Isaac, and Sarah to Rebekah. In Ishmael and Esau s case, according to Genesis, Ishmael was the child of Hager, the Egyptian slave, and Abraham. He was hated by his mother , Sarah, who was Ishmael s mother in law according to the ancient surrogate motherhood customs: a wife could give her maid to her husband and claim the child as her own () and initially protected by his father Abraham. He was the victim who was casted out by Sarah and lost his birthright. Esau was also hated by his mother, Rebekah, while loved by his father, Isaac, accordingly(Genesis 25:28), and he lost his birthright and the death blessing in the end. Not only did Esau and Ishmael share the similar kind of living circumstances, they also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Conflict Between The Church And Secular Authority Through the Investiture Conflict in 1076, it can be seen that the Church had wanted to dominate the secular authority. The Investiture Conflict had marked a change in the relationship between the Church and secular authority in which the Church wanted to establish its right to rule over the secular rulers. The disputes between the Church and secular authority were a continuation of an ongoing tension over who had ultimate authority to rule over Christendom and within kingdoms. These disputes also dealt with the rights and privileges the Church had acquired within kingdoms especially the elevation of the clergy above the laity by putting the clergy above the law with separate church courts. By the mid eleventh century, it can be seen that the Church had gained strength to challenge the secular ruler for authority in their own kingdoms and establishing special rights and privileges for its clergy. These special rights and privileges had put clergy members on top of the rest of the population. The two most important disputes between the Church and secular authority over these issues were between King Henry II of England (1154 1189) and Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury from 1162 to 1170, and that between King Philip IV of France (1285 1314) and Pope Boniface VIII (1294 1303). Both Henry II and Philip IV wanted to be able to better control crime in their kingdoms due to the separate church courts for clergy that led to issues of criminous clerks. While Becket and ... Along with how his drink and his gadgets symbolized James Bond. In this book James Bond s car was the Bentley 4.5 liter and it was supercharged and it is called the blower Bentley. The reason it is called the blower Bentley is because of the supercharger. Superchargers spin really fast with the RPMs of the motor while its spinning it s blowing air into the engine that s why it is called the blower Bentley. The Bentley 4.5 liter was made from 1927 to 1931. James Bond bought his in 1933. They only produced 720 4.5 liter Bentleys. Only fifty five of them included the supercharger made by Amherst Villiers. The Bentley 4.5 liter was a perfect car for James Bond at the time. It matched him. It was fast with the supercharger. The car helps him chase down a Citroen that Le Chiffre drove. In Casino Royale the third burglar was named Le Chiffre and he jumped in a Citroen and tried to escape James Bond. in the book Casino Royale the do not give us much information about the Citroen he drove but with the information we are given we can narrow it down to it being a 1950 Citroen Traction Avant. • 7. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Verse 12 What is the appropriate understanding of verse 12? Is the metaphor saying a destruction but a small part of it will be rescued to indicate there is still hope for just the remaining? The commentary helps me to understand it clearly. It says that it signifies a new oracle whose image offer a macabre sense of hope (p.294). It means rescue may be part of God s intension but this rescue provides little confidence to those who pause to hear what is genuinely saying. It means the remnant of Samaria will only remain. Here Amos does not say who is like the lion and the commentary has no further comment. I believe the lion is probably refers to God as in verse 3:8. The image used here is very powerful to speak of the total destruction of Samaria by enemy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How verse 4:13 relates to 4:12? The commentary helps me to confirm my speculation that the phrase does not connote a pleasant encounter and it means the end is near (p.304). My understanding will then be Yahweh s patience has ended and he has no further hope of bringing the people back to the covenant relationship. The commentary allows me to know that verse 13 is a doxology with themes to show Yahweh has the power to create and has power to destroy it. It points out this doxology coincides with the imagery of the destruction of Samara in 9:1 with the shaking/shattering of the sanctuary threshold, a judgment that results in the death of the people of the northern kingdom (p. 307). When work usually performed internally, is delegated to another firm, the company is said to outsource the work. Such is the case in the construction of the Boeing 787. The companies involved include Messier Bughatti of France, Rolls Royce of the UK, Alenia Aeronatuica of Italy, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan and Chjengdu Aircraft Group of China. This outsourcing decision means that 85% of the construction of this aircraft is supplied by strategic supply partners of Boeing. Those parts are eventually shipped to the Boeing plant in Washington by road, rail, sea and plane for final assembly of the Dreamliner. There are several other ways to make supply chain improvements. One of those ways includes the pursuit of major process simplification. This is used to improve supply chains when the processes have become so complex or so out of date that they are no longer cost efficient or no longer effective to maintain. It is said that a clean slate approach is taken when the new processes are designed from scratch without any consideration of the former process methods. We had to dedicate all our free time this summer to setting up fundraisers. The trip was $510 per person. Our fundraising consisted of selling Pastry Puffins, bake sales, and 50/50 tickets. In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman writes the story in first person to show the reader what an insane person s thoughts could be. Gilman uses first person to effectually depict how her isolation from the world caused her to become paranoid of what her husband, John, was trying to do by keeping her in the house and also start to obsess over the wallpaper. According to Frank Preston Stearns, author of The Life and Genius of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hawthorne may have intended this story as an exposure of the inconsistency, and consequent hypocrisy, of Puritanism (Stearns 181). Throughout the story of Young Goodman Brown, Hawthorne tries to infuse as many symbols and allegories as he can to enhance the overall meaning of his story. Brown in the beginning of the story is a young Puritan with young faith, but by the end of the story he has changed into an adult and does not know if he has faith anymore. Although Brown s faith is questionable the books states that he continues to pray and go to church (Hawthorne 337), which would be considered hypocritical to some. The art of everyday living is the task every man faces to improve his life, To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts. Every man is tasked to make his life, even in its details, worthy of the contemplation of his most elevated and critical hour (Thoreau 103). Systemic Lupus Erythematosus ( Sle ) Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that affects multiple tissues and systems and with significant variable clinical features and organ involvement (Cava, 2010). It is characterized by a chronic, relapsing, inflammatory and often febrile multisystemic disorder of connective tissue with wide spectrum of involvement of skin, joints, kidneys and serosal membranes. The exact etiology is noknown, but it represents failure of the regulatory mechanisms of immune system in which body s own defenses are turned against themselves (Edworthy, 2005##########). The disease is milder and survival is higher among persons with isolated cutaneous and musculoskeletal disease than in those with renal and CNS involvement. the most frequent causes of death in SLE patients are Infections and diseases of the cardiovascular, renal, pulmonary, and central nervous systems (Bartels et al., 2012). In spite of the improvement of the survival rate, patients with SLE still have a higher death rate (3 5 times) than that of general population (Schur, 2001). B. Etiology: The definite pathologic mechanisms of SLE remain elusive, and the etiology of SLE is known to be multi factorial, involving genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. Environmental triggers with susceptible genetic background, act on the immune system to initiate autoimmunity (Tiffin et al., 2013). 1 Genetic factors: There is a clear genetic component in SLE, with a sibling risk ratio 8 29 folds higher than that in the general population and a 10 folds increase in disease concordance in identical twins. In addition, there is a 24 56% concordance rate in monozygotic twins, compared with a 2 5% risk in dizygotic twins (Deng and Tsao, 2010). Many genes that may contribute to lupus have been identified by means of whole genome scans from families in whom multiple members have SLE (Namjou et al., 2007). The genes associated ... I ll be the first to admit I m something of a loner, my only contacts with my fellow classmates was the occasional salutation of Good Moring when entering a classroom but only if someone beat me to the room. Normally I m the first person there because I like sitting at the back of the classroom and those are normally the first seats to go. Imagine our surprise when we found out that we wouldn t be staying at a lodge. We would be out in the wilderness, using flimsy old cloth tents. We were told to sign a waiver, should any freak accident occur on the trip the university would not be liable. We would be treated like adults, we could do whatever we like during our spare time. Very few tents so the eighteen of us would have to share and it would be three to a tent. Only our professor got his own tent. My class had only two guys in it and the girls were very clingy and cliquish. As a transfer student I knew no one, didn t have the familiarity the others did of knowing each other and growing up in the same neighborhood. As the antisocial one I ended with the two guys. I could tell the guys knew each other before coming on the trip because they had that brotherly love, all jokes and comradery. At first I was freaked out about having to share a tent with guys I barely knew but the outgoing nature of the two made me feel comfortable and not excluded. We were the ... • 35. Buy Nothing Day Essay Could you go twenty four hours without purchasing any goods? In Canada in 1992, a day was organized to increase awareness of excessive consumerism, called Buy Nothing Day. It urged citizens to not purchase any goods within a twenty four hour period. Since 1992, this day has been held yearly in many other nations. Citizens have conflicting viewpoints on the role of Buy Nothing Day as to whether it is successful or unsuccessful, however I believe it is unsuccessful for countries to implement. While annual Buy Nothing Day increases awareness to excessive consumerism and exposes the environmental and ethical consequences of overconsumption, it is unrealistic, negatively affects small and large businesses, and is difficult for people of all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Annual Buy Nothing Day is as unrealistic as a unicorn and lacks practicality for the general public. Additionally, Buy Nothing Day effects both small and large businesses negatively. Many people accept the idea of this annual day easily and do not think about the negative effects to businesses around the country. However, culturally, some people are similar to the frog in the short story The Parable of the Frog in the Well from Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa because they are unwilling to accept new ideas like the idea of yearly Buy Nothing Day. Citizens should not feel obligated to accept this new idea because of its effects to businesses. Most businesses rely on daily income to keep their doors open and to pay their employees. If a business were to lose a day s worth of income, it could cost the business tons of money. Some businesses would have to determine if it would be worth closing their stores for a day. Small businesses would be negatively affected the most since they are dependent on daily incomes to pay their employees and keep their business running smoothly. The industry of online purchases has also become very popular in recent years. This annual day would require online shopping to stop for a twenty four hour period. It would be very difficult to discourage people from shopping online or monitoring their shopping habits on Buy Nothing Day. It would cause an inconvenience for people of all kinds. ... Debord believed that commodity creation was what characterized new consumer societies, and the idea of society of the spectacle was a way to analyze theses emerging cultural forms. For Debord, the media is a part of this spectacle. Debord defines spectacles as, an exhibit of dazzling perfusion of commodities and things to purchase which in turn [are] celebrated in advertising campaigns that inscribed the new consumer items with an aura of magic and divinity ,( Durham and Kellner 14). This is what Burger King has done in its marketing strategies. In one of its most recent marketing campaigns, Burger King took their trademarked Whopper to various remote locations across the world and surveyed different groups of people, all of whom have never seen let alone eaten a hamburger before in their life, asking them which burger they like best, the Whopper or Burger Kings competitor McDonalds Big Mac . R2P, identified as the responsibility to protect was firstly established in 2001 and initially presented in the report of the International Commission on the Intervention and State Sovereignty (ICISS) A group of retired politicians, diplomats and humanitarians chaired by former Australian foreign minister Garth Evans, and highly respected former Algerian diplomat Mohammed Sahnoun (Glanville and IVONNE, 2014). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were many difficulties which arose as there were many questions which occurred such as who has the right to authority? to authorize military intervention for humanitarian purposes? (Heywood, 2011) This is usually referred to the UN security council, this emphasises on the power in which the security council holds and how much responsibility they have, to protect and maintain peace and security. Secondly, Kofi Annan tried to reconcile the tension between sovereignty and human rights, by arguing that, in a context of globalization and international cooperation s, the state should be viewed as the servant of people and vice versa (Annan,1999) . Changing attitudes towards the norm are reflected in the growth in the influence of such doctrines of intervention as the responsibility to protect is that there is an onus on the international community to intervene in situations, where the lives of a country s civilian population are threatened by the actions of government (Guelke, 2012) However, this can be seen as a disadvantages towards responsibility to protect as stated above people s lives and safety are in the hands of governments which in some occasions cannot be good, as not all civilians agree with government verdicts. Finally, Russia is regarded as a weak rival of the west in geo strategic terms, its capacity to project power remains very limited (Guelke, 2012). Another example includes; Iraq, they do not follow the human right law, which shows that they are in need for protection to prevent waste of supreme court time and funding.
