Service Members’ Transition to Community College Essay
Introduction
As demographics of college and university students in the United States evolve, so too must the
policies and procedures used to assist students in their pursuit of post secondary education
(Radford, 2009). By the passage of educational acts such as the Servicemen s Readjustment Act
of 1944 (Public Law 78 346), the 1985 Montgomery GI Bill (Public Law 110 252), and now the
Post 9/11 GI Bill (Public Law 100 48), institutions of higher education have committed themselves
not only to educate the recently discharged and deactivated, but to address a student population
with unique needs. Student development practitioners must adapt strategies to assist the transition
experience of their military students.
Unlike any other student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Problem Statement
Under the original GI Bill (Public Law 78 346), about 4.9 million veterans enrolled in vocational
and technical training (Field, Helbel, Smallwood, 2008). According to the Department of Veterans
Affairs, Bradley (2009) surmised that an estimated 112,000 claims for benefits under the new GI
Bill have already been processed, and an estimated 250,000 veterans are expected to receive
education benefits in the next two years. Perhaps the greatest need of many returning veterans is
assistance in addressing psychological and social problems associated with post traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury, or multiple physical injuries (Ford, Northrup, Wiley, 2009).
While, historically, community colleges are charged with serving those outside traditional student
populations, it is imperative that institutions of higher education recognize and plan for military
and veteran student needs.
Many combat veterans return with mental health needs that can complicate educational
achievement. In addition to specific disorders such as traumatic brain injury and post traumatic
stress disorder, combat veterans experience psychosocial disruption as they rapidly transition from
the role from warrior to that of student. (Sachs, 2008, p.1)
Focused services and procedural and programmatic adaptation can be modeled upon the experiences

Causes Of The Yamasee War
The Yamasee War
There were always conflicts between the Native Americans and the colonist when the colonist
settled in North America. For example, the Pequot War, which lasted from 1636 1637 and was
among the colonist of Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay, and Saybrook versus the Pequot Indians.
The Yamasee Warwas another conflict that killed over 400 colonist in South Carolina. The colonist
vigorously stole, lied, and forced the Yamasee into slavery. To not be seen as weak the Yamasee
raided the colonist homes and plantations to kill and destroy them and their property. This led to
small militia s of the colonist fighting back and after two long years of fighting, the Yamasee lost
the war. To end the war, many tribes signed a peace accord. This pushed the Yamasee along with
more tribes down to Florida, where they formed the Seminole tribe.
Unfair trade and fear also caused the Yamasee War. The main goal for the English in North
America was to find gold. When no gold is found, the colonist trade products like fur and skins
with the Yamasee who until now relied on themselves for everything. However, the colonist start to
treat the Yamasee unfair or unjustly, like in this example, From the Yamasee perspective, their
Carolina allies had become greedy, irresponsible, and violent, thereby destroying the chains of
obligation that once bound them as allies. (Slavery in Indian Country: The Changing Face of
Captivity in Early America). The Yamasee also began to disagree with the

Americans the traditional next step after graduating high school is enrolling into college. This

Essay Sir Isaac Newton s Three Laws of Motion
We have all heard the story of the apple falling on Newton s head while he was sitting against the
tree, thus
giving him the sudden idea for the Universal Law of Gravity. This, as I am sure most of us know,
is not really
what happened. A more accurate version would probably be, Newton observed an apple falling
from a tree
and started contemplating the physics of the apple s fall. The acceleration experienced by the apple,
which
started at zero when hanging in the tree, then increased as the apple fell. This as Newton reasoned
from his
second law of motion, means there must be a force acting upon the apple in order to cause the
acceleration,
this force we will call gravity. Thus giving us the acceleration due to this force ... Show more

From this we are able to tell that
if an object is either accelerating or decelerating than an external force must be acting on it even if
it is
simply the force of gravity, air resistance, or friction.
Newton s 2nd Law
This is probably the most known of all three of Newton s Laws of motion.
* The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force
acting on it, while being inversely proportional to its mass.
More often though we see this law written as;
Fnet = ma
Where F equals the net force on the object in Newtons, m equals the mass in kilograms and
a equals the acceleration of the object in meters/second^2. Since force is a vector this can be
rewritten in three separate equations to take into account direction;
Fx = ma, Fy = ma, Fz = ma
Fnet = Fx + FY+ Fz
We must also remember that acceleration as well is a vector and therefor has three components just
like the force. When learning how to use Newton s 2nd Law, however, one usually only uses
examples
where there is only two directional forces acting on an object. These are usually the x direction (side
to side) and the y direction (up and down). For now we are only going to take into account these two
components.
This law is very useful in the fact we can determine the acceleration of an object if we know the
forces
acting on it as well as it s

Trisha Brown Research Paper
Trisha Brown was born in Aberdeen, Washington on November 25th, 1936 and received her B.A.
degree in dance from Mills College in 1958. She later received a D.F.A. from Bates College in
2000. For many summers, she studied with Louis Horst at the American Dance Festival, which was
then held at Connecticut College.
Trisha moved to New York Cityto study composition with Robert Dunn, who had taught a class at
Merce Cunningham s studio. This studio was based on John Cage s theories of chance. Brown
rejected aspects of it but also maintained great admiration for him and his work. In 1961 she trained
with dancer Anna Halprin and became a founding member of the avant garde Judson Dance
Theater in 1962. There she worked with experimental dancers Steve Paxton, Twyla Tharp,
Lucinda Childs, Yvonne Rainer, and David Gordon. In the late 1960s, Brown created her own
works which attempted to defy gravity using equipment such as harnesses and ropes, which
allowed dancers to walk on or down walls to experiment with the dynamics of stability. These
equipment pieces were the first dances to comprise a distinct series in what would become a
working method for her as she went on to create various cycles of dances throughout her career.
In 1970, Brown cofounded the Grand Union, which was an experimental dance collective, and then

Government policies set up by the USSR, especially the New Economic Policy and Five Year
Plans had a major effect on the industrial growth and development in the USSR both due to their
focused end goal and the unification of the party being able to enforce these policies. However,
the Five year plans can be seen as a more successful policy in promoting industrial development, as
statistics show a that it resulted in a greater growth of development and industrial development of
the USSR than any other government policy. The Five Year Plan can be seen as the leading
government policy in promoting industrial development. Set up in 1928 32 its goal was to propel

To achieve this, targets were set for every industry, each region, each mine and factor and every
worker fined if targets were not met. With a clear goal and targets to reach the FYP meant many
poor peasants in rural areas of the USSR began to migrate to urban areas. Cities sprung up from
nothing, allowing more workers to move to these developing areas in search for money a
success in promoting industrial development, as without workers willing to relocate and work,
industrial development would not have been possible. The Five year plan was a huge success in
promoting industrial development, coal production quadrupled from 1927 (35 million tons) to
150 million by 1940, followed by steel increasing six times and then followed by electricity.
These key aspects provided the basis for the USSR military economy, allowing the Soviets to
turn the tables and drive out the Germans by being able to supply the factories with an every
growing demand of electricity, parts for tanks, weapons, goods and machinery could all be
manufactured to succeed in industrial development of the USSR, the USSR was turned into a
modern state, which resultantly could resist Hitler s invasion. However, the FYP does have its
failures. The over ambitious targets set out by the FYP, in terms of producing goods over the
USSR production possibility meant many targets were over exaggerated and false to avoid penalty.
Moreover, this led to inefficiencies as

Zeitoun Fight or Flight
Is it worth risking your life to protect your belongings and property when a Category 5 hurricane
is barreling towards your city? Is it right to disregard reports about a storm because in past
experiences the news has been wrong? In Zeitoun by Dave Eggers, a man named Zeitoun decides
to let his family evacuate New Orleans without him so that he can stay behind and protect his
several homes, business, and personal belongings from Category 5 hurricane Katrina. Once the
hurricane passes, and he survives, the city turns into chaos. The streets turn violent and the great
city turns into a third world country. The power goes out for weeks, and there is no water. The
breakdown of all authority gets him arrested and he is soon thrown behind bars. Zeitoun should
have evacuated New Orleans with his family for not only did he put his business in front of them,
but also his shortsightedness almost left his children without a father. Zeitoun s belongings and
business items are all replaceable, but a father is not.
Zeitoun s stubbornness blinds him from the true power of the storm for he constantly dismisses
reports on how strong Hurricane Katrina is. A couple of days before the hurricane his wife
decides it is time to leave. She tells him of her plans and he immediately turns her down. As his
wife continues to bring up the idea of evacuating he reminds himself of past hurricane threats, there
seemed to be a half dozen storms every August, and they were rarely worth the trouble. This

Ethical Concerns Of Stem Cell Research Essay
Steven Weinberg, a famous theoretical physicist, once said, It does not help that some politicians
and journalists assume the public is interested only in those aspects of science that promise
immediate practical applications to technology or medicine (Doc, 2016, p. 1). Though this refers to
many, if not all, fields of science when there are new technological advances, there is one in
particular that falls under this assumption. There are two basic fields within stem cellresearch and
the one under the most scrutiny is embryonic stem cellresearch. To be able to use their stem cells
without killing them has not been developed yet, so many articles on ethical concerns of stem cell
research are focused on this specific topic. Many areas of science are treated as unethical, but stem
cell research, which is considered the worst, could single handedly reshape the world as we know it.
Description of Stem Cells
Unlike the other cells that make up living organisms, stem cells are very different from the others
by two distinguishing characteristics. First, they can be used to become tissue or other specific
cells, mainly organs, with special functions. Second, they are generalized cells capable of restoring
themselves through cell division (NIH, 2015). In some organs, including bone marrow, stem cells
regularly divide to repair and replace worn out or damaged tissues. In other organs, however, such
as the pancreas and the heart, stem cells only divide under special conditions

Irony In Stephen Mitchell s The Book Of Job
Stephen Mitchell s translation of The Book of Job tells the story of Job an upright, righteous
man with a big family and lots of property. He s so perfect that God boasts him to Satan and
describes him as a man of perfect integrity, who fears God and avoids evil (6). This prompts Satan
to offer to take away everything meaningful to Job in order to test his faith to God, and God agrees
to this. Just like that, Job loses all his servants, property, and family (except his wife). However, he
stays loyal, prompting Satanto give him a plethora of rashes and blisters all over his body to further
test him. This causes Job to start searching for explanations as to why this is all happening to him.

as sparks fly upward (18). Eliphaz is entirely convinced that Job must have sinned in some way,
and that there is no way that Job is having all this done to him without reason. Although it seems
accusatory, Eliphaz is speaking from his heart and truly trying to help Job and track down the
origin of his problems. However, Job is not very fond of the denunciations made by Eliphaz
against him and takes up a very defensive tone. He responds My friends are streams that go dry...
You too have turned against me (22). Job then tries to convey his honesty to his best ability and
prove that he is being truthful, which is very courageous considering everything that has happened

Abstract
The bases of this experiment was to discover the identify of the unknown from three possible
specimens: Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli, and Enterobacter aerogenes. Utilizaing the T
streak technique, the bacteria was isolated into pure colonies for further study. The Gram Stain
method was used to identity the morhphology of the bacteria such as the shape and whether the
bacteria was Gram positive or Gram negative. Biochemical test were also used to help identify the
unknown bacteria. The biochemical test used was the Triple Sugar Iron Agar, Sulfur Indole
Motility test, Methyl Red test, Voges Proskauer test, Citrate test, Urease test, and the Gelatin test.
After observing the morphology of the bacteria using the Gram Stain method and utilizing all the
possible biochemical test, the bacteria was identified to be Enterobacter aerogenes.
Introduction
Gram negative and gram positive bacteria differ from each other in many ways especially in the
composition and size of their cell walls. Unlike Gram positive bacteria, Gram negative bacteria
have a thin peptidoglycan layer surround by an outer membrane. This outer membrane contains
many proteins one of them being lipopolysaccharides (LPS), which contributes to the bacteria s
negative charge. One part of this protein is a lipid, called Lipid A, which is considered an
endotoxin because this lipid triggers an immune response stimulating fever

Prediction 2: Strategic thinking will become in house HR s new core competence.

A Engineer s Responsibility Is Still Vague Of The Top...
Time to wake up
Engineering has been one of the top demand professions of all time. Nevertheless, the awareness of
an engineer s responsibility is still vague in the society. In this concurrent era of technological
revolutions, it has become highly relevant to give a definition to this. The question, whether
engineer should remain within the limitations/ guidelines of the organizations they work for or not
finds high relevancy and importance. There are ongoing strong debates on this matter, with a large
group arguing engineering is a profession, where one has to make his skills ready to be available for
whosoever pays him, as far as that falls within law (Deborah G, 1989). I personally support the

The default assumption in the discussion of morality is that, it is wrong to harm others (Kenneth,
Andrew, Samuel C, 1983). As we say each and every person has the same right to live, it readily
generates a responsibility to not to disturb other s lives. In depth, it automatically conveys the
message, whose action influences the most should be most responsible in their works. This
demands engineers to hold high standards of responsibility and commitment towards the society.
The basic reason for my stance in this thesis is the importance and unique nature of engineering
profession. There are two basic features which differentiates engineering profession. Engineers
come across things and products mostly, rather than direct dealings with individual person.
Furthermore, engineers work as a part of team or collective unlike most of the other profession
(John, 1982). Even though, engineers act in groups, one should remember the fact that one is
being governed doesn t degrade his moral responsibilities. Hence an individual working in a
collective can also be said to possess quantifiable amount of moral responsibility towards the
society, extend of which depends on the position and role he plays in the collective (Albert
Deborah G, 1983). The relevance of this point can be established by exploring a case study of the

Furthermore, in novel situations they will utilize the salient features approach (which includes
the foreseeability of harm to persons and proximity) to make a determination on the matter.
Other key salient features that need to be assessed are: vulnerability of the plaintiff to harm, the
defendant s control over the risk of harm, the indeterminacy of liability and the need for
coherence. B Nature of the Relationship Between the Parties Paul was originally engaged by a
personnel hire company to undertake training provided by TeleCall for work in the TeleCall call

Augustus Of The Roman Empire
Julius Cesar, the Dictator of the Roman Empire adopted his grandnephew, also known as Octavian
in his will. After Cesar was assassinated Augustus wanted nothing more than to claim his
inheritance and to avenge his slain father (Cole Symes). This vengeance left constant warfare that
came to an end after the victory at Actium. At this point in time Rome was no longer a republic.
Augustusruled for four years as an independent citizen then accepted his title as emperor. Augustus
was the first roman emperor and led Rome s transformation from republic to empire. Augustus
never claimed the title as emperor for himself, but rather tried to lead the country as best as he
could, while still leaving limited power to the people. Augustus... Show more content on

Augustus also reformed the religious systems in Rome that had been previously destroyed by
constant warfare. Augustus thought that such a reform of the old religion, and a renewed trust in
the traditional gods would help restore the confidence of the people(Wasson, 2016). Augustus also
revived the priesthoods in Rome and ended up being appointed as the Pontifex Maximus(Fife,
2012). This newly acquired position left Augustus as the ruler of the Roman Empire secularly and
religiously. Now that Augustus had two highly influential roles he had unprecedented power and
control over two separate spheres. This high amount of power could have been easily abused, but
it was not. Augustus revived the Ludi Secularse which was a religious celebration that occurred
once every one hundred and ten years. Augustus was involved in the revived secular games which
had been omitted because of the disturbances of the civil war(McDermott). Augustus also guided
the construction of an Imperial Cult. This Imperial Cult was made for worship of the Emperor as
a god. Some may say this is egotistical since he himself is the Emperor, but he was made the
Pontifex Maximus, and was a true savior to Rome. Augustus also aided in the construction of a
multitude of the city s ancient temples,

Silver Nitrate Results
In account for weighing, because the sample is an unknown, students do not know what the sample
is or what it contains. The three samples of the unknown A had to be weighed around 0.4000g. If
the sample was not weighed at a quick rate, it would collect moisture from the air and disturb the
weighing process by causing it to be higher than expected. Because three samples had to be weighed
out at the same time, there was plenty of time for the unknown to collect moisture from the air
allowing the sample to contain more moisture and less of the unknown sample. Also, the weather
could affect the weight of the sample along with the season. During the summer time, humidity is
more common than in the winter. With humidity comes an abundant amount of moisture within an
area, specifically a laboratory. Before conducting the experiment, the equipment had to be washed

Majority of the experiment was conducted in a lighted area and this does not allow for a 100%

students to quickly conduct the portions of the lab where silver nitrate was used. If not, then a
less than 100% reaction would occur. It was also important for students to keep the silver nitrate
in a dark area until needed. Finally, some source of errors caused by students, known as human
errors, include the following: 1) not using the same balance when weighing both the gooch
crucibles and the unknown sample, 2) making sure the balance was cleaned before usage, 3)
making sure the samples were dried and cooled before weighing, 4) crucibles being left in the

Wireless Security Is Necessary For All Sorts Of Attacks
Today every wireless device uses frequency based transmissions without using any physical or
wired connections. Wireless system consist of LAN(Local Area network), WAN(Wide Area
Network), Personal networks, Wireless computers, smart phones, Tablets. It also consists of devices
which have infrared and Bluetooth integrated in them such as wirelessmouse and wireless
keyboards. With the introduction of these technologies that are operated wirelessly requires a
certain level of security as well. Thus these devices are to a level bit vulnerable to many
conventional as well as other severe attacks. So wireless security is necessary to prevent all sorts
of attacks. Basically Wireless Security is the prevention or restriction of unsanctioned or... Show

But still there were many flaws that intruders used to take advantage and used the flaws for their
own advantage thus making WPA also vulnerable. WPA2 was introduced to overcome the flaws
that WPA had in it. WPA2 uses AES (Advanced Encryption Standard
) algorithm to provide
security thus making it very difficult for intruders to break the security of this layer. As the
algorithm encrypts secret and confidential data and it s very difficult for the intruders to decrypt
it. The issue with WPA2 security is that as it has complex encryption thus it requires a lot of
processing power so the old systems which do not have the capability to process a lot of
computation thus WPA2 is not suitable for the old deployed systems.
Wired Equivalent Privacy: This is an older security method supported by older devices but it s no

thus making it very easy for the attackers/intruders to attack and hack the key thus very obsolete

Theme Of Light In Pablo Neruda
The Use of Light in Pablo Neruda s The Light Wraps You (II), In My Sky at Twilight (XVI) and
Thinking, Tangling Shadows (XVII):
Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair
For the most part, life revolves around light. Certain tasks are done in the light, while others are
not. Light comes in many forms, as seen through Pablo Neruda s Twenty Love Poems and a Song of
Despair. Throughout the poetry collection, Neruda uses light imagery to portray the themes of love,
happiness, sadness, heartache, hopelessness, darkness, destruction, negativity, and life which can
compel the reader to ponder over the poetry. Neruda creates light images to portray the themes
through references of lamps, twilight/night, shadows and fire in the poems The Light Wraps You
(II), In My Sky at Twilight (XVI) and Thinking, Tangling Shadows (XVII).
Lamps are used in Neruda s poems to symbolize life, as well as light. Neruda writes in poem
XVII, burying lamps, (4) and burying lamps in the deep solitude (30) which can be an allusion
to the Pagan tradition of burying most often unlit lamps with the deceased to provide a light in
the next world after death (Wikipedia, 2017). However, this can also refer to the idea of burying
light creating darkness or hope. The themes of life and sadness are presented in the two poems
which help the reader understand the themes. Another example of lamps being used to create light
imagery is in poem XVI on line 5: the lamp of my soul . This quote illustrates the image of a

Boeing vs Airbus
The commercial airplane manufacturing industry is dominated by two large players, Boeing and
Airbus. They operate in a very competitive environment and the strategies of one strongly impact
the business of the other.
For almost 40 years, the Boeing 747 or Jumbo Jet, the largest airplane in the world, has enjoyed a
monopoly and has brought in large profits for Boeing. Roughly 10 years ago, Airbus decided to look
into to the possibility of manufacturing an even larger and more efficient plane.

It also has a lower cabin noise and the effects of jetlag than the Boeing 747.
At 555 passengers, the A380 s seating capacity represents a 35% increase over the 747 400 in a
standard three class configuration, along with a 50% larger cabin volume producing more space
per passenger. If, however, the plane is ordered in an all economy class configuration, it can hold
up to 853 passengers; its maximum certified carrying capacity.
Airport compatibility
The A380 was designed to fit within an 80 x 80 m airport gate[33], and can land or take off on
any runway that can take a Boeing 747. However, airports used by the A380 in commercial
service may need infrastructure modifications. Its large wingspan can require some taxiway and
apron reconfigurations, to maintain safe separation margins when two of the aircraft pass each
other. Taxiway shoulders may be required to be paved to reduce the likelihood of foreign object
damage caused to (or by) the outboard engines, which overhang more than 25 m (80 ft) from the
centre line of the aircraft. Any taxiway or runway bridge must be capable of supporting the A380
s maximum weight. The terminal gate must be sized such that the A380 s wings do not block
adjacent gates, and may also provide multiple jetway bridges for simultaneous boarding on both
decks. Service vehicles with lifts capable of reaching the upper deck must be obtained, as well as
tractors capable of

How Does Dimmesdale Show His Sins In The Scarlet Letter
Essay #1
In the novel, The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne shows sins of several different kinds in numerous
people, as well as the consequences and remedies of their sins. Arthur Dimmesdale, bares the
most brutal effects of his sins. Hester Prynne recognized her sins and accepted them. She wore
the letter A with such pride and dignity. Dimmesdale on the other hand knew what he did was
unacceptable and was unable to confess his sins, because of the fear of not being accepted into
society, and also the fear of not being forgiven by God. Dimmesdale s inability to confess his sin
and to accept his punishments eventually leads to his downfall. Dimmesdale wanted to
desperately admit his sin to the world, but just couldn t bring himself to do it. Dimmesdale tells
Hester ,... it would be better for him to do so than to hide a guilty heart for the rest of his life.
What can your silence do for him, except tempt him almost force him to add hypocrisy to his
sins? (Page 73) Dimmesdale pleads Hester to tell the name of the father, and fellow sinner. He is
too weak minded to do it himself. Since he was not revealed, he hides his guilty heart. Later in The
Scarlet Letter, Dimmesdale digs himself into a dark hole of shame and failure. At this point in the

The Progressive Social Reform Movement
The Progressive community mainly contained Northeastern caucasians, all whom are well educated
and middle class. At first, progressivism is more of a social reform movement than a political party,
until 1912. The unification of the movement was the ideology of Social Darwinism(that the policy

Law Enforcement Officers Face Incredible Dangers Essay
Law enforcement officers have encountered some very deadly days. The life of a law
enforcement officer is one of constantly being aware of your surroundings, dealing with the
uncertainty of not knowing the individuals you have to approach, and being able to cope with
the visual images seen after vicious crimes. The life of a law enforcement officer, who protects
and serves, is both challenging and rewarding. The first law enforcement system was established
in Boston, Massachusetts over 350 years ago. During this time in the Colonies that were not
heavily populated, the sheriff served as the main law enforcement officer. During the 1800 s, 24
hour law enforcement service and systems similar to what is used today began to emerge
(NLEMI). Law enforcement officers face incredible dangers. With over 900,000 law
enforcement officers nationwide the Federal Bureau of Investigations reported approximately
1,165,383 violent crimes in 2014. Approximately one law enforcement officer dies every 61
hours (NLEMI).The law enforcement profession is the most challenging and dangerous career,
because officers must be aware of every law and action they take at all times, manage constant
training and stress, and protecting others as well as themselves in the line of duty. Law
enforcement officers must be aware of the laws governing the state they work in and analyze every
action the decide to take. The number of statutes and laws is enormous. For example, there are

Loyalty In The Book Of Job
In the book of Job, the faith of God s most devout follower is challenged repeatedly at the hand of
the adversary. These tests of loyalty to God begin with the loss of many of Job s possessions and
family members and end with an affliction of skin sores. Despite these occurrences and the urging
of his wife and friends, Job remains entirely in reverence to the glory of God. From this text, it is
apparent that one s faith and knowledge has more capability to provide happiness and ability than
do material possessions.
In the beginning of the book, the adversary challenges God s assertion that Job will continue to
both worship and fear God unconditionally, telling God to ...Lay Your hand upon all that he has,
and he will surely blaspheme You to Your face (Job 1:11). The adversary believes that Job s
devotion to God stems from all of the things with which God has endowed him, but God insists

sinful people are able to live successful, materialistic lives when he, a man who was blameless

think that they deserve but have not been given rather than on with what they have been blessed.
By emphasizing the negative aspects of their lives, people often overlook their true blessings and

The Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards
ABSTRACT
Today s economy demands a better educated workforce than ever before, and jobs in this new
economy require more complex knowledge and skills than the jobs of the past. The California
Department of Education and the California State Board of Education are pleased to present the
California Career Technical Education Framework for California Public Schools, Grades Seven
through Twelve. The California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards, Grades
Seven Through Twelve, adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE) in 2005, was designed to
help achieve that goal by providing educators with rigorous, balanced standards reflecting both the
essential knowledge needed to achieve a seamless transition to careers or postsecondary education
or training and the specific skills required for each of the state s 58 career pathways.
This publication, the Career Technical Education Framework for California Public Schools, is the
blueprint for educators to use in implementing the career technical education (CTE) model
curriculum standards adopted by the SBE. It provides a context for the content laid out by the
standards, discusses best practices, and explores important issues in the implementation of those
standards.

adoption of project organization an appropriate one for getting the Mexican subsidiary started? 2.
In consideration of Robert Linderman s letting the division managers know the project manager
would be asking for some of their key people, why would Conway have any difficulty in getting
the ones he wanted? 3. Would you expect that many people would turn down a chance to join a
project organization, as Bert Mill did? 4. Why would Conway take his problem with the
engineering vice president to Linderman and have it resolved in his favor, yet back down in two
disputes with the manufacturing vice president? 5. What could Linderman Industries... Show more

The notice, however, did not offer an insight as to which employees would be taken for the
project. Consequently, it is possible that the managers were not in a position to make necessary
arrangements to cater for the departure of their team members. The impact on the divisions were,
therefore, felt once the selection has been made thus, leading to negative reactions from the
division heads. Joining a Project Organization Would you expect that many people would turn
down a chance to join a project organization, as Bert Mill did? Most people would contend that
no one would turn down a special job opportunity when it arises. I highly support this notion and
accordingly, I would not expect people to turn down a chance to doing a project organization as
exhibited by Bert Mill. This is because such chances are rare and far between. Furthermore, the
chance of joining the project organization provides employees with an opportunity for him to
develop his experience. Project organization provides employees with an opportunity to develop
their management and planning skills (Turner, 2009). Employees are, therefore, exposed to new
skills that would be of great benefit to them in building their careers. This justification is enough to
make anyone take the position that Mill was offered in the project organization. Employees make
various considerations before making choices concerning job placements and may give various
reasons to justify their refusal of

Why Are Child Sports Good For Kids
The Topic child sports is an arguable a god topic. I think child sports are great. Theses are the
reasons why there good. Children get social, physical, and perseverance skills. It also trains
them to work hard and never give up. They can stay away from peer pressure. Finally they can
stay fit and learn to eat good foods. In the article Teens involved in physical activity . The author
conducted a study where he examined students that weren t involved in physical activity and kids
that were. He found out that 80% of students he studied that were involved in physical activity had
4 points or higher gpa than kids who weren t involved in physical activity. This means the kids who

The author found out that kids are getting obese by 7% more a year. He found out that 85% of
kids that play sports seem to be physically active up to the age 30 on average. They are 75%
more likely to be healthy and active up to the age 35 on average. This is really good because
people are saying our youth might not live as long as their parents because of the obesity rate.
Parents that don t allow their kids to play sports say Oh, I don t want him getting hurt . I have an
solution to that problem. You can let your kid play non contact sports or minimal contact. Such
as basketball, volleyball,golf,tennis,e.t.c.. I agree that football is kind of bad for teens because of
the high injury rate. But on the other side there is so many sports that have a really low injury
rate and or minimal concat. 95% of kids that play sports don t fall for peer pressure. The reason
behind it is that the student will have either practice, a game, or homework he or she will have
to do and then they can t go out with people that peer pressure kids into drugs, alcohol, and crimes.
If you think your kid won t get their homework done because of sports. Look back at the second
paragraph. It states that kids that play sports on average has 4 points or higher g.p.a than kids who
don t play sports. That s because they are developing he perseverance

Albert Camus Suffering
In Albert Camus The Stranger, the novel centers around the life of Meursault, a French Algerian,
who begins the novel attending his mother s funeral. Meursault does not express grief over his
mother s death, and treats the day after the funeral as just another day with no nostalgia for what
came before. As the novel progresses, Meursault continuously shows this lack of emotion and
connection to others in his life, making him a stranger to not only the reader but other characters in
the story. When Meursault befriends a neighbor of his, Raymond, and helps him with his cheating
Arab girlfriend, he unknowingly gets sucked into a conflict that will affect the rest of his life. A
victim of circumstance and choice, Meursault commits a murder, and... Show more content on

The Stranger acknowledges a different approach to life and reality, one with certainty and emphasis
on the individual. In Melissa Payne s Discussion of the Absurd in Albert CamusNovels, Essays
and Journals, she describes that Camus desires that man reads this novel and becomes
disorientated and divorced from any reality of which he knows. He must recognize that reality
means that life exists and death is approaching; Camus believes that these are the only truths, and
abstractions no longer exist (Payne 15). In the novel, Meursault knows that his death is
approaching in the form of his execution for the murder of the Arab. His crisis arises while
questioning his past actions, an exercise out of character with his belief that life is only about
present choices and the dawn of the next day. Meursault does not seek to absolve himself by
turning to God or asking for forgiveness, but instead, accepts the life he has chosen, freed by the
certainty that death was inevitable one way or

An Exploration Of The Pepcon Disaster And Its Aftermath
An Exploration of the PEPCON Disaster And Its Aftermath What began as normal repair work at
the Pacific Engineering and Production Company of Nevada (PEPCON) in May of 1988, resulted
in devastation. PEPCON was one of two manufacturing facilities of Ammonium Perchlorate (AP),
located in Clark County, NV, approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Las Vegas (Lilley,
2012). AP is an oxidizer that when combined with aluminum makes the base for solid state rocket
fuel (Dunbar, 2006). Due to the recent Space Shuttle Challengerdisaster, all space exploration by
NASA was halted, and a stockpile of around 4,000 tons of AP built up and was stored onsite
(Lilley, 2012). The disaster was caused by repair work done after high winds damaged the... Show

Also, within many buildings at the PEPCON facility, dust control was either minimal or
nonexistent, while cleaning was only performed before safety inspections (Lambert Alvares,
2003, p.7). This led to massive AP buildups on all flat surfaces which it is assumed exasperated
the situation further once the fire started (Lambert Alvares, 2003, p.7). The incredibly risky storage
practices of this powerful oxidizer made PEPCON a disaster waiting to happen.
The Facility And Its Safety Features The PEPCON facility was broken up into multiple
buildings, the most important of which to this incident is the batch drying building located in
the southwest portion of the facility (map of PEPCON is attached as Appendix A) (Routley,
n.d., p. 22). The batch dryer was used to blend and dry AP to prepare it for final packing,
however, this facility was not suitable for this work due to its construction. The building was
constructed of combustible fiberglass with steel supports (Routley, n.d., p.8). AP residue built up
on the fiberglass and accelerated the fire out of control once it started (Routley, n.d., p.8). This risk
was known by PEPCON as there had been previous fires in this building, however nothing was
done to deter future fires (Case

Example Of Nationalism Research Paper
The following essay talks about Nationalism. This essay will give reasons of nationalism behind
different community challenges and how it affects the country. The reason why I choose this
problem because I think that the idea of nationalism is one of the most important ideas in which are
the actions taken by the members of the nationwhen they are seeing in achieving self determination.
And it stands for the ideology which is based on the premise that the individual s loyalty and
devotion towards his/her nation which surpass other individual or group interests.
Nationalism is a modern movement. After it came it got ignored in political philosophy which got
noticed. And in last decade, it further led to issues in the international justice of terrorism, the clash
of civilisations. But still, all this are just the definition or meaning of nationalism. Actually, if we
think about this word Nationalism a lot of questions go through our mind ... Show more content on

The role of nationalism in India. The conditions of the minority groups are growing worst day by

worst. The population of Muslim people is going down. It s true that in higher position there are
minority people but in the community and national identity they are very less. India is a very
composite country because it consists of a lot of languages, religions, customs, ways of living
life etc. And all these things are in the majority and minority groups which led to inner conflicts
which give a very bad outcome of the nation s state. And the basic issue of India is to build up a
real and inner sense. And the main point he made was that the feeling of nationalism is going
enlarging and more especially it takes place when a country is under foreign dominate. Like how

Reflection Paper On Team Work
Team work is at the nucleus of clinical practice in radiography. It is the core structure that allows
the efficient flow of work whilst still providing patient centred care. There must be an
understanding that a team is not merely a group of people working in proximity to each other;
but it is a group of people who use the division of labour and an apprehension of each other s role
in the team to work in a rational and proficient manner. This essay will reflect on the team
building I participated in and its correlation to my Belbin personality team roles. I will also
explore the value of this in practice, in terms of patient centred care and legislation. Using other
personality questionnaires, I will consider Belbin s ability to reflect my own roles and question if
another method would be more accurate in doing this.
In the 1970 s Meredith Belbin devised the Belbin team inventory behavioural test. It was aimed to
assess how an individual behaves and interacts in a team environment before placing these people
into 9 categories. A person may be spread across multiple categories not defining them to a single
possibility. Using the Belbin test has been shown to may improve work in a team. One piece of
research used 84 teams to find that forming groups based on Belbin role balance assumption might
enhance group performance (Curseu Meslec, 2015, para 36). This means that having a full array of
team roles and understanding each other s strengths and weaknesses can exert positive influence on
team performance.
Knowing your own Belbin team role allows you to acknowledge your strengths and weaknesses
thus helping you focus on what you need to do to improve. From doing the personality
questionnaire I was identified as an implementer and a shaper at similar high scores, however
the rest of my scores were evenly spread across the remaining 6 roles. I interpret this as in a
group I would fit into the role of planning and carrying out strategies in a resourceful way, whilst
providing drive to the team to keep the momentum. I may also be able to slot into any missing
roles. Belbin (2009) states that implementers are happy to carry out the less appealing tasks in the
team those that other members do not want to do or

The Toyota Production System For The Upholstery Furniture...
The first article that I have chosen is titled The Toyota Production System Applied to the Upholstery
Furniture Manufacturing Industry. In his article, Hunter reported the applied research utilized to
convert a U.S. furniture manufacturer into a Toyota Production System (TPS) factory. The
company that Hunter observed was Franklin Corporation, a furniture manufacturer. This company
has been building recliner chairs and other upholstered furniture since 1970 (Hunter, 2008, p.631).
The main manufacturing facilities are located in central Mississippi, USA. The article stated that
Franklin Corporation manufactures a large variety of upholstered furniture while employing about
1100 people. Its factory processes all the company s frame components through a dimension mill,
while utilizing computer numerical controlled (CNC) cutting of foam, plywood components, fabric,
and leather (Hunter, 2008, p.631). To survive and thrive in the intense foreign and domestic
competition, Franklin management decided to adopt a new way of doing business, which is the
TPS philosophies and methodologies. The second article that I chose is called Sustainable
Manufacturing greening Processes Using Specific Lean Production Tools: An Empirical
Observation from European Motorcycle Component Manufacturers. As the title suggests, this
article focuses more on the sustainability advantages that are gained through implementing Lean
Production practices. Chiarini observed 5

Pros And Cons Of De-Extinction
De extinction, the revival of extinct species through cloning, has reasons for and against it.
However, the Point argument supporting it was better because it explained how reviving these
species would not only be beneficial in that area of studies, but in science and the world as a
whole. There are many reasons stated for this, including the repairing of Earth and the expansion of
human knowledge and capabilities.
As stated in the Point argument, de extinction is a way to undo what humans have done to nature,
and a way to prevent it. The argument explains, [Woolly Mammoth s] return to the north would
bring back carbon fixing grass and reduce greenhouse gas releasing tundra (Point para 3). This
explains how bringing back extinct animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, people have been critical about the space program since its inception (Point para
7). Even though people were skeptical, the space program has led scientists to establish things
like satellites, which give weather forecasts. The same thing could happen to de extinction, and
it could completely change the world forever. In addition, as controversial as all of it is, and
possibly because it s controversial, it s going to help drive interest in [species loss], in a way that
conservation by itself couldn t do... (Point para 4). Because of all the interest in the subject of de
extinction, it could lead to an inspiration to do more things to conserve life on the planet. If a lot of
attention is brought to a subject, there are more people interested that have a potential to do
something about it. Lastly the author writes, the genome manipulation used in de extinction
research might bring about even more marvels (Point para 7). One of the marvels that could come
out of this is human health. If scientists are able to manipulate DNA and essentially life itself, there
would be endless possibilities for what they could manipulate in humans, like disease prevention
and even physical attributes. An argument could be that de extinction is unethical because it is
impossible to recreate the habitat for those animals, so they would suffer. They died for a reason,
usually along with their

Essay on Cultural Impact of the Railway of Victorian England
Introduction
At the beginning of the industrial revolution in England during the mid nineteenth century, the
railroad was the most innovative mode of transportation known. The British Rail system was a
forerunner in railroad technology, uses, and underground engineering. Though the rail system was
extremely slow at first and prohibitively expensive to build and run, the British were not to be
dissuaded in their pursuit of non animal driven transportation. The most advanced mode of
transportation prior to the introduction of the rail system was the horse drawn omnibus on a track,
called a tram. This paper will examine the rail system from a cultural perspective, presenting the
impact the railway had on everyday lives in Victorian London ... Show more content on

Some samples of letters, also taken from Jack Simmons book, exemplify the drama of riding the
railroad:
You skim along like magic. We drove to the railway office at Warrington a short mile from the
town where we took our seats in a machine; for it was one continued machine although having the
appearance of 3 regular coaches and three divisions of seats like those in a coffee room the
coaches not open at the top the seats were. (Simmons 21)
Another writer(1) quoted in Simmons wrote, On my return to Chester I visited Liverpool [in
1836] and traveled from thence, for curiosity, a few miles towards Manchester on that then novel
mode of conveyance, a railroad. (Simmons 23) As fascinated as the public was with the
railroad, it was also exasperated by the poor service, (train arrival times were never announced
and there were accidents quite often), and the cost of riding. The train departure times were
announced, but the arrival times were never specified. To travel the length of 31 miles, the trip
would take 1 3/4 hours. This rate of travel was not a vast improvement from the 3 1/2 mile per
hour train trip of the first railway. Also, trains did not run between 9:00 am and 1:00 PM on
Sundays out of respect for religious services.
During the time Dombey and Son takes place, railway mania was sweeping England. There were
numerous Parliamentary acts passed to regulate the new booming industry. To get a clear picture of
the magnitude of the mania,

How to Cope with the Promises and Perils of Technology
We are all technologists. We all believe in progress. But not all in the same way.
The politics of engineering is as complicated as engineering itself, and as contested as man and
nature that usually enrich political debates. The mission of an engineer is essentially savoring it,
defending it, and improving it, but also coping with it and transcending it. There is nothing
especially laudable in romanticizing lost worlds, or pretending that societies without skyscrapers or
modern communication are more authentic than our own, or believing that disarming ourselves
will make the perils of technological power disappear. May we not fantasize that the present world
is necessarily the finest human achievement yet, or that politically necessary and morally justified
uses of technological power are wholly innocent. For, they usually are not.
Our problem is that of ensuring whether the future we believe in is worthy of our devotion. In
other words, it is about how we cope with the promises and perils of technology. Answering this
question will require clear thinking about scientific prospects, distinguishing wild speculations from
scientific reality, and describing technological possibilities in a way that common man can judge
and understand. It will require political leadership with a deeper understanding of engineering, and
engineers who accept that technological expertise does not guarantee its balanced application to
humanity.
The problem of engineering how to spread its

Seven Years War Analysis
Canada is a well known country for it s diverse residents, powerful economy, civilized citizens
but more significantly its peaceful population and although Canada s reputation has been highly
respected, the 1700s was an era which is only remembered for it s greed for power and it s
various battles of blood. Despite the short term and long term consequences of the Seven Years
War, a few of the after effects of the battle have created an eternal significance to our modern
society.
Firstly, one of the most horrific practises of the world of assimilation, where one is forced to
convert to another religion, follow different customs and orders and have to have any memory of
their true beliefs to be erased is completely barbaric, but was one of the events that occurred in
1750s to the French! Despite the 1774 QuГ©bec Act where the French regained their lost rights, I
still believe that this was one of the tragedies that nevertheless remains an issue in this advanced
community. The young generation of this country are constantly trying to re invent themselves so
they appeal more to their friends and the society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the aboriginal still await the day where they would have the opportunity to retrieve their territory.

Analytical Essay Gran Torino

Q. What kind of man is Walt Kowalski? Examine character development throughout the film Gran
Torino?
Clint Eastwood s Gran Torino (2008) is a portrayal of human sacrifice and the racial intolerance
that still exists in modern America. The film is set in a poor neighbourhood of Detroit. Clint
Eastwood plays Walt Kowalski, a war veteran who has brooded over his experiences in the war for
decades. Past trauma has caused him to believe that he cannot trust anyone, and he has therefore
developed a deep racism. Eastwood uses many different techniques, including lighting, camera
angles, and dialogue to show how the man Walt Kowalski develops throughout the film. Kowalski

He then aims his gun at the gang, and drives them away. Kowalski says, Get off my lawn , and it
is left ambiguous whether he is defending Thao s family, or he simply just does not want anyone
of a minority on his lawn. Once again, half of Kowalski s face is shrouded by shadow, and at the
same time the music reaches a climax, violins at an extremely high pitch, as if he is battling inner
demons whether to shoot or not. Eastwood compels the audience to think the Kowalski is a man
struggling with his past, and that he can be volatile.
Kowalski s intolerance also finds its way into his relationship with his own family, specifically
his relationship with his sons and their children. This is evident when one of his grandchildren,
his son s daughter asks, So, what are you going to do with it [his car], when you, like, die . This
to Kowalski is exceedingly disrespectful, and makes him even more cynical and angry than he
was before, as if proving him right that values are not as they should be. Kowalski also goes to
the doctors, were he finds out that he has cancer. He then calls his son, trying to tell him. As
Kowalski is struggling to say it, the camera pans over a photo of Kowalski and his wife, on their
wedding day. Here, Eastwood indicated to the audience that Kowalski still misses his wife, and the
past. It then shows Kowalski in the mirror, whilst on the phone. This shows that Kowalski is

PREPARING YOUR HORSE FOR SHOW DAY Essay
In the world, there are approximately 75,000,000 horses and 350 breeds of horses that can be
found around the world (circlerranch.com). Horses are amazing and beautiful creatures that may
be used as show horses or a family pet. Show horses require many hours of daily preparation in
order to be competitive in the show ring. I have grown up with horses my whole life. I watched
my mother show horses and followed in her footsteps. The most important aspects of show day are
the appearance and the way the horsepresents itself to the horse judge. The judge will look at the
structure, muscle, and balance of the horse. To be competitive on show day, the horse must be
healthy and have a good attitude. A horse requires a balanced diet.... Show more content on

In order to be muscular the horse needs proper exercise. Backing and trotting are the main
exercises that the trainer should concentrate on. Backing builds up a horse s hind end, while
trotting creates even muscles on each side of the horse. Exercising helps the horse in many ways.
It doesn t only give it firm and sculpt muscles; it affects its overall health too.
Shampooing and conditioning the horse is extremely important. The horse should be beautiful
and spotless. Never put conditioner in the horse s mane if the horse is going to have its mane
braided or banded for a show because the bands will slip out. There are many different braiding
styles for the horse s mane, there is a hunter braid, a running braid, and a continental braid
(Raspberryridge.com). The horse s mane can even be banded. Horse s manes will differ from
horse to horse, based on the size of the horse, how bulky the neck is, and what it looks like with
the overall structure and build of the horse. Quarter horses and thoroughbreds look better with short
manes. Arabians and gaited horses prefer longer manes (Baker).
A stripping blade is a good tool to use to cut the mane. The stripping blade has sharp teeth and a
wooden handle. It is used similarly to how a hair stylist uses a razor. Just hold a small chunk of
hair tight in one hand, and slice downwards with the stripping blade in the other (Baker). A week
before the horse show, the horses

  • 2. Service Members’ Transition to Community College Essay Introduction As demographics of college and university students in the United States evolve, so too must the policies and procedures used to assist students in their pursuit of post secondary education (Radford, 2009). By the passage of educational acts such as the Servicemen s Readjustment Act of 1944 (Public Law 78 346), the 1985 Montgomery GI Bill (Public Law 110 252), and now the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Public Law 100 48), institutions of higher education have committed themselves not only to educate the recently discharged and deactivated, but to address a student population with unique needs. Student development practitioners must adapt strategies to assist the transition experience of their military students. Unlike any other student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Problem Statement Under the original GI Bill (Public Law 78 346), about 4.9 million veterans enrolled in vocational and technical training (Field, Helbel, Smallwood, 2008). According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Bradley (2009) surmised that an estimated 112,000 claims for benefits under the new GI Bill have already been processed, and an estimated 250,000 veterans are expected to receive education benefits in the next two years. Perhaps the greatest need of many returning veterans is assistance in addressing psychological and social problems associated with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury, or multiple physical injuries (Ford, Northrup, Wiley, 2009). While, historically, community colleges are charged with serving those outside traditional student populations, it is imperative that institutions of higher education recognize and plan for military and veteran student needs. Many combat veterans return with mental health needs that can complicate educational achievement. In addition to specific disorders such as traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder, combat veterans experience psychosocial disruption as they rapidly transition from the role from warrior to that of student. (Sachs, 2008, p.1) Focused services and procedural and programmatic adaptation can be modeled upon the experiences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Causes Of The Yamasee War The Yamasee War There were always conflicts between the Native Americans and the colonist when the colonist settled in North America. For example, the Pequot War, which lasted from 1636 1637 and was among the colonist of Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay, and Saybrook versus the Pequot Indians. The Yamasee Warwas another conflict that killed over 400 colonist in South Carolina. The colonist vigorously stole, lied, and forced the Yamasee into slavery. To not be seen as weak the Yamasee raided the colonist homes and plantations to kill and destroy them and their property. This led to small militia s of the colonist fighting back and after two long years of fighting, the Yamasee lost the war. To end the war, many tribes signed a peace accord. This pushed the Yamasee along with more tribes down to Florida, where they formed the Seminole tribe. Unfair trade and fear also caused the Yamasee War. The main goal for the English in North America was to find gold. When no gold is found, the colonist trade products like fur and skins with the Yamasee who until now relied on themselves for everything. However, the colonist start to treat the Yamasee unfair or unjustly, like in this example, From the Yamasee perspective, their Carolina allies had become greedy, irresponsible, and violent, thereby destroying the chains of obligation that once bound them as allies. • 5. Essay Sir Isaac Newton s Three Laws of Motion We have all heard the story of the apple falling on Newton s head while he was sitting against the tree, thus giving him the sudden idea for the Universal Law of Gravity. This, as I am sure most of us know, is not really what happened. A more accurate version would probably be, Newton observed an apple falling from a tree and started contemplating the physics of the apple s fall. The acceleration experienced by the apple, which started at zero when hanging in the tree, then increased as the apple fell. This as Newton reasoned from his second law of motion, means there must be a force acting upon the apple in order to cause the acceleration, this force we will call gravity. Thus giving us the acceleration due to this force ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From this we are able to tell that if an object is either accelerating or decelerating than an external force must be acting on it even if it is simply the force of gravity, air resistance, or friction. Newton s 2nd Law This is probably the most known of all three of Newton s Laws of motion. * The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting on it, while being inversely proportional to its mass. More often though we see this law written as; Fnet = ma Where F equals the net force on the object in Newtons, m equals the mass in kilograms and

Since force is a vector this can be rewritten in three separate equations to take into account direction; Fx = ma, Fy = ma, Fz = ma Fnet = Fx + FY+ Fz We must also remember that acceleration as well is a vector and therefor has three components just like the force. When learning how to use Newton s 2nd Law, however, one usually only uses examples where there is only two directional forces acting on an object. These are usually the x direction (side to side) and the y direction (up and down). For now we are only going to take into account these two components. This law is very useful in the fact we can determine the acceleration of an object if we know the forces acting on it as well as it s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She later received a D.F.A. from Bates College in 2000. For many summers, she studied with Louis Horst at the American Dance Festival, which was then held at Connecticut College. Trisha moved to New York Cityto study composition with Robert Dunn, who had taught a class at Merce Cunningham s studio. This studio was based on John Cage s theories of chance. Brown rejected aspects of it but also maintained great admiration for him and his work. In 1961 she trained with dancer Anna Halprin and became a founding member of the avant garde Judson Dance Theater in 1962. There she worked with experimental dancers Steve Paxton, Twyla Tharp, Lucinda Childs, Yvonne Rainer, and David Gordon. In the late 1960s, Brown created her own works which attempted to defy gravity using equipment such as harnesses and ropes, which allowed dancers to walk on or down walls to experiment with the dynamics of stability. These equipment pieces were the first dances to comprise a distinct series in what would become a working method for her as she went on to create various cycles of dances throughout her career. Is it right to disregard reports about a storm because in past experiences the news has been wrong? In Zeitoun by Dave Eggers, a man named Zeitoun decides to let his family evacuate New Orleans without him so that he can stay behind and protect his several homes, business, and personal belongings from Category 5 hurricane Katrina. Once the hurricane passes, and he survives, the city turns into chaos. The streets turn violent and the great city turns into a third world country. The power goes out for weeks, and there is no water. The breakdown of all authority gets him arrested and he is soon thrown behind bars. Zeitoun should have evacuated New Orleans with his family for not only did he put his business in front of them, but also his shortsightedness almost left his children without a father. Zeitoun s belongings and business items are all replaceable, but a father is not. Zeitoun s stubbornness blinds him from the true power of the storm for he constantly dismisses reports on how strong Hurricane Katrina is. A couple of days before the hurricane his wife decides it is time to leave. She tells him of her plans and he immediately turns her down. • 11. Ethical Concerns Of Stem Cell Research Essay Steven Weinberg, a famous theoretical physicist, once said, It does not help that some politicians and journalists assume the public is interested only in those aspects of science that promise immediate practical applications to technology or medicine (Doc, 2016, p. 1). Though this refers to many, if not all, fields of science when there are new technological advances, there is one in particular that falls under this assumption. There are two basic fields within stem cellresearch and the one under the most scrutiny is embryonic stem cellresearch. To be able to use their stem cells without killing them has not been developed yet, so many articles on ethical concerns of stem cell research are focused on this specific topic. Many areas of science are treated as unethical, but stem cell research, which is considered the worst, could single handedly reshape the world as we know it. Description of Stem Cells Unlike the other cells that make up living organisms, stem cells are very different from the others by two distinguishing characteristics. First, they can be used to become tissue or other specific cells, mainly organs, with special functions. Second, they are generalized cells capable of restoring themselves through cell division (NIH, 2015). In some organs, including bone marrow, stem cells regularly divide to repair and replace worn out or damaged tissues. In other organs, however, such as the pancreas and the heart, stem cells only divide under special conditions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After observing the morphology of the bacteria using the Gram Stain method and utilizing all the possible biochemical test, the bacteria was identified to be Enterobacter aerogenes. Introduction Gram negative and gram positive bacteria differ from each other in many ways especially in the composition and size of their cell walls. Unlike Gram positive bacteria, Gram negative bacteria have a thin peptidoglycan layer surround by an outer membrane. In this concurrent era of technological revolutions, it has become highly relevant to give a definition to this. The question, whether engineer should remain within the limitations/ guidelines of the organizations they work for or not finds high relevancy and importance. There are ongoing strong debates on this matter, with a large group arguing engineering is a profession, where one has to make his skills ready to be available for whosoever pays him, as far as that falls within law (Deborah G, 1989). As we say each and every person has the same right to live, it readily generates a responsibility to not to disturb other s lives. In depth, it automatically conveys the message, whose action influences the most should be most responsible in their works. This demands engineers to hold high standards of responsibility and commitment towards the society. The basic reason for my stance in this thesis is the importance and unique nature of engineering profession. There are two basic features which differentiates engineering profession. Engineers come across things and products mostly, rather than direct dealings with individual person. Furthermore, engineers work as a part of team or collective unlike most of the other profession (John, 1982). Even though, engineers act in groups, one should remember the fact that one is being governed doesn t degrade his moral responsibilities. Hence an individual working in a collective can also be said to possess quantifiable amount of moral responsibility towards the society, extend of which depends on the position and role he plays in the collective (Albert Deborah G, 1983). Then all the stars began to align. Within the span of 3 minutes, McCown threw a touchdown, Evans caught a touchdown and Matt Prater nailed a field goal right through the middle of the uprights. Other key salient features that need to be assessed are: vulnerability of the plaintiff to harm, the defendant s control over the risk of harm, the indeterminacy of liability and the need for coherence. B Nature of the Relationship Between the Parties Paul was originally engaged by a personnel hire company to undertake training provided by TeleCall for work in the TeleCall call centre. This means that Paul is not an employee of TeleCall and as such his relationship with the firm does not fall within an established category of duty. Therefore, a duty of care can only be established on the basis of the salient features approach identified in Sullivan v Moody. C Reasonable Foreseeability A duty of care cannot be established solely on the basis of reasonable foreseeability, but it is an important consideration. At the duty stage, the test of reasonable foreseeability does not to ask if the injury itself is foreseeable. After Cesar was assassinated Augustus wanted nothing more than to claim his inheritance and to avenge his slain father (Cole Symes). This vengeance left constant warfare that came to an end after the victory at Actium. At this point in time Rome was no longer a republic. Augustusruled for four years as an independent citizen then accepted his title as emperor. Augustus was the first roman emperor and led Rome s transformation from republic to empire. Augustus thought that such a reform of the old religion, and a renewed trust in the traditional gods would help restore the confidence of the people(Wasson, 2016). Augustus also revived the priesthoods in Rome and ended up being appointed as the Pontifex Maximus(Fife, 2012). This newly acquired position left Augustus as the ruler of the Roman Empire secularly and religiously. Now that Augustus had two highly influential roles he had unprecedented power and control over two separate spheres. This high amount of power could have been easily abused, but it was not. Augustus revived the Ludi Secularse which was a religious celebration that occurred once every one hundred and ten years. Augustus was involved in the revived secular games which had been omitted because of the disturbances of the civil war(McDermott). Augustus also guided the construction of an Imperial Cult. This Imperial Cult was made for worship of the Emperor as a god. Some may say this is egotistical since he himself is the Emperor, but he was made the Pontifex Maximus, and was a true savior to Rome. The three samples of the unknown A had to be weighed around 0.4000g. If the sample was not weighed at a quick rate, it would collect moisture from the air and disturb the weighing process by causing it to be higher than expected. Because three samples had to be weighed out at the same time, there was plenty of time for the unknown to collect moisture from the air allowing the sample to contain more moisture and less of the unknown sample. Also, the weather could affect the weight of the sample along with the season. During the summer time, humidity is more common than in the winter. • 24. Theme Of Light In Pablo Neruda The Use of Light in Pablo Neruda s The Light Wraps You (II), In My Sky at Twilight (XVI) and Thinking, Tangling Shadows (XVII): Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair For the most part, life revolves around light. Certain tasks are done in the light, while others are not. Light comes in many forms, as seen through Pablo Neruda s Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair. Throughout the poetry collection, Neruda uses light imagery to portray the themes of love, happiness, sadness, heartache, hopelessness, darkness, destruction, negativity, and life which can compel the reader to ponder over the poetry. Neruda creates light images to portray the themes through references of lamps, twilight/night, shadows and fire in the poems The Light Wraps You (II), In My Sky at Twilight (XVI) and Thinking, Tangling Shadows (XVII). Lamps are used in Neruda s poems to symbolize life, as well as light. Neruda writes in poem XVII, burying lamps, (4) and burying lamps in the deep solitude (30) which can be an allusion to the Pagan tradition of burying most often unlit lamps with the deceased to provide a light in the next world after death (Wikipedia, 2017). However, this can also refer to the idea of burying light creating darkness or hope. The themes of life and sadness are presented in the two poems which help the reader understand the themes. Another example of lamps being used to create light imagery is in poem XVI on line 5: the lamp of my soul . This quote illustrates the image of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From this text, it is apparent that one s faith and knowledge has more capability to provide happiness and ability than do material possessions. In the beginning of the book, the adversary challenges God s assertion that Job will continue to both worship and fear God unconditionally, telling God to ...Lay Your hand upon all that he has, and he will surely blaspheme You to Your face (Job 1:11). The adversary believes that Job s devotion to God stems from all of the things with which God has endowed him, but God insists that his loyalty is independent of what he has. Job comprehends the severity of what it is that he has lost but neglects to consider the faith that he has not. People often focus more intently on that which they lose or that which they think that they deserve but have not been given rather than on with what they have been blessed. • 38. The Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards ABSTRACT Today s economy demands a better educated workforce than ever before, and jobs in this new economy require more complex knowledge and skills than the jobs of the past. The California Department of Education and the California State Board of Education are pleased to present the California Career Technical Education Framework for California Public Schools, Grades Seven through Twelve. The California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards, Grades Seven Through Twelve, adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE) in 2005, was designed to help achieve that goal by providing educators with rigorous, balanced standards reflecting both the essential knowledge needed to achieve a seamless transition to careers or postsecondary education or training and the specific skills required for each of the state s 58 career pathways. This publication, the Career Technical Education Framework for California Public Schools, is the blueprint for educators to use in implementing the career technical education (CTE) model curriculum standards adopted by the SBE. It provides a context for the content laid out by the standards, discusses best practices, and explores important issues in the implementation of those standards. Most people would contend that no one would turn down a special job opportunity when it arises. I highly support this notion and accordingly, I would not expect people to turn down a chance to doing a project organization as exhibited by Bert Mill. This is because such chances are rare and far between. Furthermore, the chance of joining the project organization provides employees with an opportunity for him to develop his experience. Project organization provides employees with an opportunity to develop their management and planning skills (Turner, 2009). Employees are, therefore, exposed to new skills that would be of great benefit to them in building their careers. An Exploration Of The Pepcon Disaster And Its Aftermath An Exploration of the PEPCON Disaster And Its Aftermath What began as normal repair work at the Pacific Engineering and Production Company of Nevada (PEPCON) in May of 1988, resulted in devastation. PEPCON was one of two manufacturing facilities of Ammonium Perchlorate (AP), located in Clark County, NV, approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Las Vegas (Lilley, 2012). AP is an oxidizer that when combined with aluminum makes the base for solid state rocket fuel (Dunbar, 2006). This led to massive AP buildups on all flat surfaces which it is assumed exasperated the situation further once the fire started (Lambert Alvares, 2003, p.7). The incredibly risky storage practices of this powerful oxidizer made PEPCON a disaster waiting to happen. • 44. Reflection Paper On Team Work Team work is at the nucleus of clinical practice in radiography. It is the core structure that allows the efficient flow of work whilst still providing patient centred care. There must be an understanding that a team is not merely a group of people working in proximity to each other; but it is a group of people who use the division of labour and an apprehension of each other s role in the team to work in a rational and proficient manner. This essay will reflect on the team building I participated in and its correlation to my Belbin personality team roles. I will also explore the value of this in practice, in terms of patient centred care and legislation. Using other personality questionnaires, I will consider Belbin s ability to reflect my own roles and question if another method would be more accurate in doing this. In the 1970 s Meredith Belbin devised the Belbin team inventory behavioural test. It was aimed to assess how an individual behaves and interacts in a team environment before placing these people into 9 categories. A person may be spread across multiple categories not defining them to a single possibility. Using the Belbin test has been shown to may improve work in a team. One piece of research used 84 teams to find that forming groups based on Belbin role balance assumption might enhance group performance (Curseu Meslec, 2015, para 36). This means that having a full array of team roles and understanding each other s strengths and weaknesses can exert positive influence on team performance. Knowing your own Belbin team role allows you to acknowledge your strengths and weaknesses thus helping you focus on what you need to do to improve. From doing the personality questionnaire I was identified as an implementer and a shaper at similar high scores, however the rest of my scores were evenly spread across the remaining 6 roles. I interpret this as in a group I would fit into the role of planning and carrying out strategies in a resourceful way, whilst providing drive to the team to keep the momentum. I may also be able to slot into any missing roles. Belbin (2009) states that implementers are happy to carry out the less appealing tasks in the team those that other members do not want to do or ...
