Web 2. 0, Mashup And Long Range Informal Communication
3 unique terms Web 2.0, mashup and long range informal communication, yet all interweaved in the

case, what does everything mean?
A few organizations have made the claim of utilizing Web 2.0as a showcasing methodology,
however it appears as a rule it might be unwarranted.
Do you truly need Another! Enhanced by Web 2.0 trademark on your webpage with a specific end

By and by, I consider gatherings to be a Web 2.0 kind of use, however I don t see them perceived
all things considered.
The exceptionally intriguing point I find about the entire Web 2.0 development is that in one
specific viewpoint, it s extremely just the same old thing new. In the 70 s the innovation boffins
were urgently attempting to make tracks in an opposite direction from the centralized server/idiotic
terminal foundation and in some ways, we re making a beeline for that just with immensely
expanded adaptability.
For an especially more point by point depiction of Web 2.0 ideas, something not excessively
specialized, I exceedingly prescribe this article by Tim O Reilly of O Reilly Media, Inc.
What is a mashup?
The expression mashup started in the music business it s music that is comprised of different
tunes as of now discharged, more often than not by different specialists. I regularly end up saying
to my girls that the new melody they believe is so cool is really the bass line from X craftsman
around 1974 and the electric guitar riffs from X tune initially recorded in 1982. Pah! Current
music, don t kick me off ;).
Anyway, mashups in the web improvement world are in reality extremely valuable things ;). A
mashup is normally an electronic application that consolidates

Augustus Caesar Biography
Augustus Caesar (63 BCE 14 CE) was the name of the first and, by all accounts, greatest emperor
of Rome. Augustus was born Gaius Octavius Thurinus on September 23, 63 BCE. He was adopted
by his great uncle Julius Caesar in 44 BCE, and then took the name Gaius Julius Caesar. Originally
called Gaius Octavius, he changed his name to Gaius Julius CaesarOctavian, upon being adopted by
his great uncle. Seventeen years later, the Senate awarded him with the name Augustus, meaning
Revered One. Augustus came from a prosperous family that had long been settled at Velletri,
southeast of Rome. Augustus married three times, although his first union, to Mark Antony s
stepdaughter Clodia Pulchra, was unconsummated. His second wife, Scribonia, who had his
only child, Julia the Elder. He divorced in 39 B.C. to marry Livia Drusilla, who had two sons,
by her first husband. The family tree became more complicated after Augustus had his stepson
Tiberius briefly marry his daughter, and then adopted Tiberius outright as son and successor in
A.D. 4. Augustus Caesar died in A.D. 14, his empire secured and at peace. His reported last
words were twofold: to his subjects he said, I found Rome of clay; I leave it to you of marble,
but to the friends who had stayed with him in his rise to power he added, Have I played the part
well? Then applaud me as I exit. Soon after that acknowledgement of human frailty, the Roman
Senate officially declared their departed emperor, like Julius Caesar before

Rhetorical Analysis Of President Trump s Inauguration Speech
The presidential inauguration speech started off with the new president swearing in, and taking
his oath, then he made his way to the podium where he began his inauguration speech as the 45th
president of the United States of America. In his speech, he went over his plans and goals for his
future term: through him people will regain their political power. He uses pathos, ethos, and logos
to persuade his audience of this. President Trump started off with presenting his views and
aspirations for the country. As he had been saying all throughout his campaign, about rebuilding the
Americans a super power and making it great again. He reaffirmed those ideas for the citizens that
he will do as he promised even though it would be hard. He highlighted... Show more content on

Trump has also pledged to suspend America s intake of Syrian refugees. The topic of health and
addictions was also briefly touched upon saying The crime and gangs and drugs that have stolen
too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential, said Trump. This
American carnage stops right here and stops right now. This statement shows ethos for the
people who might be victims of such crimes in the country. Trump then reassures the people that
they are protected and secure by saying We assembled here today are issuing a new decree to be
heard in every city, in every foreign capital and in every hall of power. From this day forward, a
new vision will govern our land. From this day forward, it s going to be only America first
America first. Once again this ethos and he gives emotion feel that they are going to be protected
again. He also referred to the Bible to emphasize how much potential America has to once again
be great as he said The Bible tells us how good and pleasant it is when God s people live together
in unity. We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements honestly but always pursue
solidarity. When America is united, America is totally unstoppable. This aspect of unity that he
explains about in the Bible is correct but, not to

British Abolition Movement
The debate around British abolition movement centers on how what could possibly motivate an
empire, with one of the largest slave economies in the world, to end an institution they had heavily
relied on for centuries in the span of fifty years. This question has plagued historians for nearly two
hundred years, as they attempt to identify what caused public opinion to shift from a view of
indifference towards slaveryto a massive, full fledged push for abolition. Despite the debate
capturing the interests of scholars across a wide range of specialties, the conversation seems to
focus on three major elements and the extent to which they led to the success of the abolition
movement. The first, humanitarianism, focuses on the influence of religious... Show more content

Through his analysis of the slave economy in the British West Indies, Williams steered the
conversation towards capitalism rather than an idealized focus on evangelical leaders. He devotes
the first section of the book to providing an outline of the economic situation of these slave holding
British colonies. During which, Williams places a heavy emphasis on the significance mercantilism,
which focuses on accumulating wealth through exportation, played in creating the prosperous
plantation systems. He then turns to his principal argument. In the decades prior to abolition in
1807, the British slave colonies in the West Indies proved to be unprofitable. Thus, abolition
occurred not because of humanitarian, or religious reasons, but instead, out of British economic self
interest. Williams revolutionary thesis, which was later coined the Decline Thesis, was responsible
for placing the emphasis on the economy, and identifying the study of capital as vital to the
understanding of this era of British

Macbeth Tomorrow And Tomorrow Creeps Me From Day To Day
She should have died hereafter. There would have been a time for such a word. (line 17) Macbeth
utters these words after he hears the news of his wife s death. He is implying that now is not the
time for such a thing to happen. She should not have died right then because those words have little
meaning compared to what was happening at the time. If she had died a day or two after, that
would have been the time to mourn. Macbethcontinues on saying, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and
Tomorrow creeps in this petty pace from day to day (line 19) meaning that no matter what
happens today, the war, his wife s death, tomorrow will still come. Tomorrow happens whether
we like it or not and it seems to come faster each day. The next few lines, To the last syllables of
recorded time, and all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death, (line 21) mean all

more. (line 23) The brief candle is life itself. If life was a person it would behave as someone

Blackberry-Picking Essay
In the poem Blackberry Picking by Seamus Heaney, the narrator depicts his greed for summer s
blackberries and how that greed leads to disappointment. Heaney adds meaning to his poem by
metaphorically comparing blackberries to pleasurable things in our lives and that they should be
savored in the moment rather than stored. The author s choice of blackberries in the summer has
a subtle significance. Because blackberries only ripen in the summer and because they spoil
easily, he is able to convey how precious these blackberries are and why the narrator lusts for
them. The narrator also addresses the audience during the picking of the first blackberry: you ate
that first one and its flesh was sweet. By addressing us, the poem appeals to the senses.... Show

By personifying summer and the blackberries through the words flesh and blood, his metaphor
becomes accessible to a wider audience. Heaney also uses the words hoarded and cache to
further augment the value of the berries. Usually, we hoard items we find valuable in caches,
regardless of their literal worth. Heaney utilizes this philosophy to ask us what are the
blackberries we hoard. As the poem progresses the tone changes. What starts out as eagerness
and lust spirals into a mix of anger, guilt, and disappointment. Heaney initiates this change by
including a simile that alludes a British fairytale. After picking and hoarding the blackberries in
a tub, the narrator realizes his palms are sticky as Bluebeard s. The fairy tale is about a man with
a bluebeard who kills his wives and hides them in a closet to rot. His murderous tendencies remain
a secret until one of his later wives opens the locked room. Heaney is not comparing the narrator to
Bluebeard but his

lawyer for his competence. Aaron sends apologies to Laura for the assault he caused. It dawns on
Vail that Aaron was still recalling what Roy did, rather than forgetting the incident. Roy
unknowingly revealed his guiltiness of killing the archbishop. It was evident that his presence in

SEDS-Saving Space Exploration
SEDS Saving Space Exploration
Space exploration was once a fascinating part of human culture. Back in the 60 s, when getting to
the moon was a top priority, and exploring the features of other planets interested people, the space
program had the momentum to pull off bigger and better things. To explore stars not even in our
galaxy and even possibly pull off the feat of discovering extraterrestrial life was something people
only dreamed about. Once being only in the imagination, space travel is a reality.
Nowadays, many people have lost interest in the space program. With people s interests in space

country: Purdue University, Virginia Tech, and University of Oklahoma. If a person is interested
in space exploration and needs to find the best possible chapter to get involved in and to get
information on, that person may need help picking the website that best reflects what SEDS is
looking to do. This paper is a guide to help you choose the best web site possible to get all the
information needed to become a member of SEDS.
The design a website has can have a huge influence over a reader s perception and credibility of a
website. The design appeals to the pathos of the reader. If a website has the proper design, and
looks as if work has been put into it and the website does not look poorly put together, the reader
will have a better feeling towards the website s information.
The three chapters being analyzed all have a similar look to the home SEDS website, with their
own subtle differences. Each site is effective in appealing to the reader s emotion from the moment
the reader enters the website. The reader thinks the author of the website put the time into making
the design appealing, therefore the reader thinks the author

Cost And Purpose Of Sales Promotion
1: INTRODUCTION
1.1. Introduction to sales promotion
Meaning and Purpose of Sales Promotion:
Sales promotion consists of all promotional activities other than advertising, personal selling and
publicity that help to increase sales through non repetitive and one time communication. In other
words, it includes marketing activities other than personal selling, advertising, and publicity, that
stimulate consumer purchasing and dealer effectiveness, such as point of purchase displays, shows
and exhibitions, demonstrations and various non recurring selling efforts not in the ordinary
routine. Purpose: The ultimate aim or purpose of sales promotion is that of increasing the volume

For example, the greater the geographical dispersion of a target market, the greater the
communication expenditure required. Similarly, if an offering is in its early life cycle, there is a
greater need of expenditure. But promotion budget should always justify the tasks to be undertaken.
A basic principle would be the cost and returns of sales promotion tools to be adopted. Hindustan
Lever has its well drawn up sales promotion budget. If any business house does not have its
promotion budget fixed, then promotion programmes will have to be designed to support the
marketing plan.
(vi) Government regulations:
Government has passed various laws and made rules to protect the consumer interest, such as the
prevention of Food Adulteration Act, the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable
Advertisements) Act, and Drugs and Cosmetics Act etc. Sales promotion policy must take into
consideration the government regulations relating to the particular product, e.g. the commodity
rates must be specified on the package and in case of medicines drug contents and date of

While leaving a child unattended may be culturally correct in some countries, it is not appropriate
everywhere. Whether a Scandinavian is visiting and treats America as Scandinavia, leaving a child
unattended or whether it be an American engaging in this same practice, wrong is wrong. There
are many factors that should be taken into consideration all regarding the safety of the child, and I
believe in America a child should never be left unattended. It puts the child in harm s way, and
there is lack of supervision hence, is it Child neglect, which is Child abuse and should not happen. If
this should take place in America, no matter what the culture, I believe that it should be handled
accordingly meaning it should be reported to the proper authorities. Action means change!

Sex Offender Laws and Wrongful Convictions Essay
Sex Offender Laws and Wrongful Convictions
The laws for sex offenders should be changed for many reasons. This is a very controversial
subject, and tempers flare easily and often for good reason. Due to the plethora of opinions on this
subject it is hard to determine what is right and what is wrong.
The very same government sending teenagers to school together as a group and teaching them
about safe sex is the same government that is bringing charges against them for practicing sex.
Not only that but they are labeling them as sex offenders for the rest of their lives. How
confusing this must be to the young people of America today. So many young people are finding

Federal laws like the Adam Walsh Act and the Wetterling Act, which mandated long registration
periods and the online posting of information including pictures and current addresses under the
posting Sex Offender and/or Crimes Against Children , have resulted in a social stigma and
humiliation for young people across America. Not to mention the cost of registration fair for the
true pedophile but not for the young person lacking a job or real place to call home. Our laws seem
to have taken away the true threat to society, the grown adult that actually has sexual intercourse
with children, the true predator. They are the true offenders and our young people are being
grouped in with them and in many cases forcing our teenagers to live with them at times,
consequently causing more emotional harm than has already been inflicted upon them.
It s time to separate the child sex offender from the children being accused of sex offending
unreasonably. There are many stories of teenagers 15, 16, 17, just trying on young love for the
first time. What should be happy memories can be turned to shame, and they don t even have to
have actual intercourse for it to be called a sex offense. Here are some examples of needed changes
to our laws:

Although this tension is an old story, Zeiler takes it further and argues that the Commonwealth had
a major hand in shaping the GATT order (p.197). It is a complex story of negotiations taking place
under conditions of extreme difficulty, and the author has worked diligently in the American,
British and Commonwealth country archives.
There is, however, a lot that raises the eyebrows of the economic historian. Within a few lines of the
opening we read that, global business leaders ... seek a commercial regime unfettered by barriers .
This is rather the antithesis of the conventional understanding of businessmen almost invariably
(and nowhere more so than in the US), seeking protection. And running against the conventional
view (without seemingly noticing) is the idea that America is the home and inspiration of free
trade. The British in the 1930s opted for, Regulated, rather than American style market, capitalism
... (p.20). Or again, Free trade frightened the British (p.39). And richest of all, The British simply
would not accept the free trade doctrine (p.24). Zeiler suggests that free trade was key to the
American economy ignoring the fact that America had been one of the most protectionist countries
for most of its history. This is unfortunate and results in a distortion of the argument, for of the
GATT negotiations Zeiler say s the British were not willing partners in pursuit of lower trade
barriers. At certain times that may have been true

Law enforcement officers throughout the state of Texas regularly stop drivers on suspicion of

It is common for people to believe they are safe because they have set their profile settings to

law enforcement officers may be able to access and view their posts, including those that the
accused has been tagged in. Furthermore, CNN reports that authorities may go so far as creating

their private information.
Following an arrest for drunk driving, people may go into their social media accounts and delete
posts they think could be incriminating. While this may be helpful in some cases, it is important to
understand that deleted posts may still be accessible to law enforcement. The authorities may be

Conquest Of Andalusia Research Paper
The soonest records of settled human progress in Andalusia portray provincial occupation in Pre
Roman times. In the early twelfth century B.C.E. the Phoenician domain framed states along the
coast to help with exchange. The settlement established by the Phoenicians was called Tartessos,
which later rose to turn into a noteworthy political constrain in the district. The settlements of the
Phoenicians in the long run declined in force taking after the disintegration of the Phoenician
domain. The following major political power to develop in the locale was the city of Carthage,
whose accentuation on exchange gave the straits of Gibraltar and the Andalusia district monetary
significance. As an exchanging focus, Carthage saw the monetary estimation of controlling the
strait, and started a battle to pick up control of the area. Between the first and second Carthaginian
wars, Carthage developed its control over Andalusia, utilizing the coast to dispatch a hefty portion
of its attacks into Roman domain. Carthage, on the other hand, was unsuccessful in its crusade
against Rome. With the decrease of Carthage, Andalusia stayed, for a brief period, without an in
number political personality. Rome ventured into fill the force vacuum, renaming the region Betica.

The Endings Of Sophocles Antigone
Although they are versions of the same play, the endings of Sophocles Antigone and Anne
Carson s Antigonick convey contrasting ideas of the power of fate, and its role in tragedy. In
Antigone, fate is described as an inevitable, insurmountable aspect of life that cannot be avoided.
On the other hand, Antigonick shows fate to be a malleable product which can be controlled by
the decisions individuals take in their lives. Through the role of the chorus, the addition of Nick,
and the catharses of the characters, Carson shows that fate is something which we can master. In
both texts, the responsibility of the chorus is to comment upon the play s proceedings, and to
make key observations about the characters actions. As Antigone is being paraded to her burial in
Antigone, the chorus states, The power of fate is a wonder,/ dark, terrible wonder / neither
wealth nor armies/ towered walls nor ships/ black hulls lashed by the salt/ can save us from that
force. (1045 1050) It emphasizes that fate is very powerful, and that it is not within humans
capacity to alter. Thus, Antigone and Creon are never capable of influencing their own lives; they
are not responsible for the tragedythat ensues, because fate would have seen to it anyway. In
contrast, the chorus in Antigonick says that it likes to find precedents, pointing out that We re not at
a loss how to think about this/ We re not without guidance. The chorus states that Creon can avoid
making the same mistakes

Another study completed by the Scottish Government helps us to see what kind of people are
living in poverty, and contrary to what most people might assume. Most families that are living in
poorer circumstances contain at least one full time working adult. It has also been shown how
families where parents are unemployed are better off on benefits rather than earning minimum wage
. This surely shows that the current minimum wage is not doing the job it was implemented to
do, as families aren t being able to get by and maintain a good quality of life on these salaries.
Supporting the argument that the living wage being introduced should be a government
priority. This would thereby close the gap between the employed and unemployed in Scotland.
Other government policies that are being introduced are also said to be a cause to rising poverty
levels in Scotland. For example, The Guardian (2015) published an article describing how
welfare cuts have put over 700,00 people into poverty since 2012 in the UK. Scotland is also
severely affected as shown by a statement from Nicola Sturgeon (Left Foot Forward, 2015)
discussing how the proposed cut on tax credits will have a devastating affect on 20% of the most
deprived families, losing 8% of their income. This leaves the impression that rather than poverty
being reduced,

The Relationship Between Working Capital Management And...
The rapid and unpredictive business changes make the business markets all over the world more
competitive and exert competitive pressures on the firms. It is characterized by considerable
amount of uncertainty regarding the demand, market price, and availability of raw materials. The
markets in which real firms operate are not perfectly competitive. Hence this necessitates the firms
to have working capital to meet the demand. Working capital management is important part in
industries financial management decision. An optimal working capital management is expected to
contribute positively to the creation of industry value. To reach optimal working capital
management firm manager should control the tradeoff between profitability and liquidity

CSCI 652 Telecom and Networking Security
Kotcherlakota Nitin

Q: X.805 security architecture, how it compares with the X.800 network security access architecture
A: X.805 architecture was developed by the Telecommunications standardization sector of the
International Telecommunications Union X.805 (ITU T X.805) on October 2003 to provide end to
end transmission of data from one network to another.
The Security architecture logically separates complicated arrangement of end to end system s
security related features into discrete architectural components. This discretion allows a certain
systematic way to deal with end to end security that can be utilized for planning of new security
solutions and for accessing the security of the current networks. The security architecture gives a
complete, top down, end to end point of view of system security and can be connected to network
components, administrations, and applications keeping in mind the end goal to distinguish,
anticipate, and correct security vulnerabilities.
There are various threats that should be taken into consideration since these threats are likely to
destruct, corrupt remove disclose or interrupt any information or services that helps in the
efficiency of an application.
The main issues that X.805 addresses are shown below:
1. What are the threats that can occur and what kind of protection can be provided?
2. What are the distinct types of network equipment and facility groupings that need to be

Nicaraguan Politics and Government Essay
Nicaraguan Politics and Government
On the narrow isthmus known as Central America, between the world s two greatest oceans,
Nicaragua has been marked by endless years of political turmoil, social tension and economic
dismay. The turmoil s that have shaken the country make it plausible to believe that by some
metaphysical law, Nicaraguan politics have accommodated to nature s tantrums. Like its diverse,
rugged and seismically active geology, the country s politics have been irregular, impulsive and
often explosive (Pastor, 15). The Nicaraguan election of February 25, 1990 represents the country s
attempt to break from its turbulent political past and pursue economic and political stability through
the establishment of a democracy. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was much speculation regarding the potential outcome of the election especially regarding
the possible social upheavals that could have resulted in yet another Civil War. The National Vote
Counting Center was not announcing results until every electoral ballot had been counted, but
quick counts conducted by both sides of the opposition as well as by the representatives of the
monitoring international organizations hinted at the possible victory of UNO. As a result the
concern had shifted as to how to ensure a smooth transition while preventing any possible social
upheavals. Daniel Ortega expressed his concern to Carter in meeting that took place the night the
polls were closed: I wanted to talk to you about what could be an eventual triumph of UNO, and
take steps to ensure that if this occurred, it would not produce a bad outcome. There is a section
within UNO who would be so encouraged by a UNO victory that they might want to provoke acts
of violence against the FSLN.... There could be a civil war. The conduct of the U.S. government
would be decisive (Pastor, 261). Due to the cooperation of the opposition party s especially in
calming and controlling their supporters, the announcement of the UNO victory did not result in
any social repercussions and hence helped Nicaragua serve as an exemplary model to the
international community proving that peaceful transition is in fact possible. Despite Barrios s

A Thing of Beauty Is a Joy for
`A thing of beauty is a joy forever`. How far and in what ways does Keats communicate this
belief in his odes. Emotion was the key element of any Romantic poet, the intensity of which is
present in all of Keats poems. Keats openly expressed feelings ignoring stylistic rules which
suppressed other poets. Keat #8217;s poems display a therapeutic experience, as many of his Odes
show a sense of struggle to accept, and a longing to search for an emotionwhich he could feed off
for his eternity. As romantics emphasised beauty in order to replace the lack of religion. The

Keats bombards us with negative images and enforces his mood of misery on us; `aches`,
`drowsy numbness ` `pains`. The syntax length is long, hence it emphasises the drowsiness
increased by the pauses. The reference to `hemlock I had drunk` and `dull opiate #8217; provides
the escapism Keats wants, almost to flee to the bird in ecstasy. It is in the fourth stanza that he
prefers to use inspiration instead, to reach the heights of the nightingale. Keats deliberately
confuses the reader #8217;s assumptions of the poem by introducing a melancholic mood. The
`melodious plot #8217; is emphasised through the rhythm of the poem and the extended use of
vowel sounds prior to the `melodious plot. The repetition of `happy #8217; is almost a forceful
emphasis to cancel the earlier negatives. Keat #8217;s distinguished use of paradoxes, is evident
here too: ` `tis not through envy of thy happy lot, But being too happy in thine happiness #8217;.
Keats has found joy in the innocence of the nightingale, who `among the leaves hast never known,
the weariness, the fever and the fret here, where men sit and hear each other groan #8217;. The
bird is oblivious to the pain and death. The nightingale #8217;s song has been heard by himself

Bowel Cancer Prevention
Prevention of Bowel Cancer
Introduction
The bowel is a hollow tube within the digestive system composed of the small bowel (small
intestine) and large bowel (colon and rectum). Bowel cancer generally affects the large bowel,
which absorbs water from digested food and then produces waste (Cancer research UK, 2014).
Bowel cancer, also known as colorectal cancer, develops from uncontrollable cell division of
polyps, pre cancerous growth cells, which cause potential harm within the bowel (Bowel cancer
UK, 2016). Bowel cancer is treatable and curable if diagnosed early; nevertheless, by simply
adopting healthier changes to your lifestyle, two thirds of cases could be prevented (Cancer
research UK, 2010).

The recommended weekly amount of cooked red meat (beef, lamb and pork) is 500 grams, though
it is advised that red meat and processed meat (bacon, ham and salami) is replaced with healthier
alternatives such as fish, poultry, soya and quorn. (Beating bowel cancer, 2016).
Conclusion
Based on hereditary, lifestyle and dietary factors discussed, bowel cancer can be prevented by
taking these preventative measures into strict consideration. Ultimately, living a healthy lifestyle
will lead towards a lower risk of this unwanted disease, likewise, bad lifestyle choices will
significantly increase the risk. Hence, taking precautions and adjusting lifestyle choices in a
positive manner will not only decrease the possibility of developing bowel cancer but consequently
will improve the quality of life, which is beneficial in the long

Special Education
From the first day a child is born, parents are there to nurture their child, to support them as they
grow and develop. There is a lot to learn about raising a child under normal circumstances, but
when a child has special needs parents must learn this whole new language of medical and special
education terms (Overton, 2005). Parents enter this new world where navigating for the best
interest of their child is riddled with challenges and obstacles that they need to somehow overcome.
This is especially true when parents are dealing with the special educationprogram in their child s

What are these special needs, which qualify a student to be considered for special education?
Firstly, students with challenges in learning have to be considered. In a normal class, there could
students who find it hard to learn because of some reasons. Such students need specialized attention
so that they are not disadvantaged in the learning process.
When writing special education essays, it is also important to address the issue of communication
challenges. These challenges occurs because of poor proficiency in the language being used, thus
causing a communication barrier.
The commonest factor is physical disabilities. Students with disabilities require specialized
education for them to gain knowledge and become productive in the society. These disabilities may
include hearing and sight problems. They may also have deformed limbs, as a result of natural birth
or accidents. Additionally, students with emotional, behavioral, and developmental disorders
require special education.

Dare Jump Short Story
Don t do it Darius! Don t you dare jump! I said while my sister did the four point cross sign with
her fingers and said Rest in peace and I hope you go to heaven . Who says that to a person that
didn t jump yet is what I thought at that moment. Stop. Stop. Stop. Let s go to the beginning
shall we. My family and I were in Pershing Field Park when this happened. I met up with some of
my friends that were screaming at the top of their lungs to what seemed to me as nothing in the
beginning. While I focused and put on my glasses which I have to have off unless I risk
breaking them. I saw him. Darius a class mate and friend that I don t associate with at all after

dares. As he wound up for the leap, one thoughtwas running through my mindhe was going to die or
break a leg. Even though this was serious everyone was smiling and some were laughing even me.
At that time I just thought that if he was to jump he would make it but I tried to stop him anyway.

Essay Comparing Two Open Universities
Comparing two Open Universities within the Common Wealth:
Athabasca University and the Allama Iqbal Open University at Islamabad
When the Open University of the United Kingdom (OU UK) opened its doors in 1969 it was
considered a revolution in higher education by many pedagogues. In the forty years that followed
80 similar higher open education institutes were established (Peters, O. 2010, p57 81). The
common denominator of this new generation of distance universities is that they are open. During
the OU UK inauguration Lord Crowther stated: We are open as to people ; as to places ; as to
methods ; and finally to ideas (cf. Tunstall 1974, in Peters, O. 2010, p 62). What this openness
entails, depends largely on the social, economic, and political circumstances in the country in which
an open university is founded. Two former British colonies and members of the Common Wealth,

Essay on journal on Unconditional Positive Regard
In tonight s session we have been learning further about Carl Rogers and his conditions of a
successful person centred therapy. We have been exploring Unconditional Positive Regard, a term
used by Rogers to describe a basic acceptance and support of a person regardless what they say or
do. Unconditional Positive Regard is an attitude of the counsellor towards his client. Rogers
believes that this attitude is essential to a healthy development and cause a positive therapeutic
movement in a therapy.

In many cases, clients show signs of disbelief and sometimes even aggression towards their
therapist. The reason for that is conditional love most of us have experienced in a lifetime. This is
called; conditions of worth, since we were little children we have been told or shown that to
deserve acceptance and love we have to behave in a certain way ( e.g. Be good, patient, obedient,
confident, etc.)We are convinced that we have to be worthy of love. For most of us adults other
people s perception is very important and in many cases can even define a person. Being so used
to seeing myself through other people s eyes, being judged for what I do or have done,
Unconditional Positive Regard appears to me as almost impossible to believe. I do think that it is
possibly also client s attitude. That disbelief; that the therapist can put aside whatever I have
done and see me as a worthy person for who I am, even If I do not believe in me; probably take a
while to disappear and change into trust.
Rogers said that every one of us has within himself desire to change in a positive direction. I
assume that he meant and believed that goodness is our natural aspiration. I fully agree with him
no matter how unrealistic and ideal it might seem. If we, learning how to be a counsellor, will
understand how to be able to accept another person, regardless of their past, negative attitude or
defensiveness we will then

for $8,400. On 12/31/X2, an adjusting journal entry is needed to record the amount of revenue
that has been earned. The entry also results in the correct balance of the liability account as of 12

about the historical emergence of human S. typhi infections, however it is thought to have caused
the deaths of many famous figures such as British author and poet Rudyard Kipling, the inventor

Typhoid/ Enteric Fever:
Infection of S. typhi leads to the development of typhoid, or enteric fever. This disease is
characterized by the sudden onset of a sustained and systemic fever, severe headache, nausea, and
loss of appetite. Other symptoms include constipation or diarrhea, enlargement of the spleen,
possible development of meningitis, and/or general malaise. Untreated typhoid fever cases result in
mortality rates ranging from 12 30% while treated cases allow for 99% survival.
Virulence Factors:
S. typhi has a combination of characteristics that make it an effective pathogen. This species
contains an endotoxin typical of Gram negative organisms, as well as the Vi antigen which is
thought to increase virulence. It also produces and excretes a protein known as invasin that allows
non phagocytic cells to take up the bacterium, where it is able to live intracellularly. It is also able
to inhibit the oxidative burst of leukocytes, making innate immune response ineffective.
Epidemiology:
The encounter of humans to S. typhi is made via fecal oral route from infected individuals to
healthy ones. Poor hygiene of patients shedding the organism can lead to secondary infection, as
well as consumption of shellfish from polluted bodies

Ethical Dilemma of Hiv Disclosure in Intimate Relationships
HIV Prevention with Positives in Thailand: Ethical Dilemma of HIV Status Disclosure in intimate
relationship.
Abstract
Every year, there are about ten thousand new HIV infection cases in Thailand. The majority of new
HIV transmissions in Thailand have changed from commercial sex to intimate relationships while
HIV prevention generally focuses on self protection and universal precaution. In 2003, Center for
Disease Control and Prevention recommend to integrate HIV preventive measure into routine HIV
care. According to a survey of People Living with HIV and AIDS(PLWHA) in Thailand, 45% of
HIV infections came from transmission between spouses and 10% believed that their partners knew
their HIV status before having a relationship. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of these preventive measures aim at self protection of the general HIV negative population
and vulnerable groups. HIV positive people have not been included in prevention strategies and
messages. Fear of further stigmatization exclude concept of responsibility for health of sexual
partner as an alternative strategy and prevention program. (Bayer 1996) However research has
shown that after most PLWHA learn their HIV status they reduce their unprotected sex, though
some still engage in unsafe sex.(Janssen, Holtgrave, Valdiserri et al. 2001; Marks, Richardson,
Crepaz et al. 2002) In 2003, the Centers for Disease Control recommended the Prevention with
Positives strategy to promote sexual health among PLWHA attending HIV/AIDS clinic and to help
reduce onward HIV transmission.(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2003) Positive
prevention was recommended by UNAIDS (the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS); it
has been implemented in industrialized countries, and should be a priority in high prevalence
regions.(Bunnell R, J. and K 2006)
Advance in medical treatment, especially antiretroviral treatment have improved quality of life and
prolongs survival. Antiretroviral treatment also reduces the probability of HIV transmission by
reducing virus to undetectable level. (Vernazzaa, Hirschelb, Bernasconic et al. 2008)

Argumentative Essay On Evolution
Madison Wenig
Mr. Kellerman
Honors Biology 2
19 May 2017
Evolution
There always has been a controversy whether evolution really did happen or not. Many
evolutionists, philosophers and biologists have presented sufficient evidence that evolution is true.
Yet there is still debate about this contentious topic. With the facts and findings of fossilrecords of
earlier species, ideas of initial theorists, and our own genetics and DNA, evolution can be hard to
prove wrong. Evolution is not just a change over time, but that all life on Earth shares a common
ancestor. This process is occurring in our lives right now. What exactly is evolution? Evolution is
the process through which the characteristics of organisms change over successive generations, by
means of genetic variation . (What is evolution) Simply, descent with modification. Charles Darwin
was the first person with the acceptable explanation of evolution. Although his theory gave forth
too many tremendous advances, he did not build this theory on his own. He learned and built off
earlier theorists, like Jean Baptiste Lamarck, who indorsed linear evolution . (evolution) As well as
Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, with his concept of Scala Nature. These early theorists served as a
foundation for Charles Darwin s theory. Although Darwin s theory was important, a greater
attribution to evolution was founded. That is the uncovering of fossils. Fossils are significant to the
evolution because they show how life on Earth was

Architecture People And Landscape Essay
Architecture, People and Landscape The idea of being able to walk on top of the building is
something that does not happen a lot. Connecting the public to the building should be more than
just creating a fascinating and interesting facade. My idea is to describe how a building is able
to connect to the people, by allowing them to not just walk inside or around but on top of the
building creating a public space within. The reason why I chose this topic is that I wanted to
make a connection to my studio project, and how I developed the idea for it. In addition, I wanted
to compare it to the OsloOperaHouseand how this assisted me in arriving at my final design. My
studio project and the Oslo Opera House have a different scale however, however I think they share
some similar concepts. The idea of togetherness, open space, and easy movement access to the
public, and most significantly its connection to the landscape.
Firstly, the location of the buildings is disparate, the Oslo Opera House(picture 1) does not really
have a connection to the landscape, since it is mostly part of the city surrounded by other
buildings and where traffic is heavy. There might be some connection between the Oslo Opera
House and the landscape of the river, which has influenced the design known as The Wave Wall .
My project studio (picture 2) has a huge connection to the landscape, which allowed me to work
around the landscape instead of being surrounded by buildings. The location of my

year marks the 50th anniversary of Loving v. Virginia, but still they facing few challenges through
out the years. Loving v. Virginia, the U.S. Supreme Court case overturned state laws banning
interracial marriage. Over five decades, interracial relationships have become more common across
the United States, but those couples still face some unique challenges. Interracial marriage is
reasonable and people should stop being judgmental. Interracial couple should not be judged or
differentiate than any normal couple. Everyone is unique in their own way, raceor color have
nothing to do with the marriage. If a person really understands you and cares for you, raceor culture
does not matter. Outer shell of a person does not change who they are on the inside.
Henriken explains that In U.S. Census Bureau (2000) data, the number of interracial marriages
rose to slightly more than 3,000,000 and comprised approximately 5.5 percent of all marriages
(Henriksen jr., n.d.). In 1990, the interracial law was passed, and after the year of 2000,
3,000,000 interracial marriages took place. You can tell from the number that this law was much
needed for those who liked someone from different race or culture. The number of interracial
marriage has been increasing and society have start accepting them. People should remember that a
couple is made up of two people, not two races or cultures.

The War Of Anti Semitism
Much has been argued regarding the existent of anti Semitism and the general disdain for Jewry
supposedly apparent in the plays of William Shakespeare. Time and again his work is held up as
representative of that which we with our 21st century sensibilities have been educated to abhor
and disavow. The hatred of man because of race, color or creed has, within the collective
conscience been largely rejected. The fostering of a self regulating society has engrained
contemporary sensibilities through the policy of political correctness: a body politic of public
consciousness that wasn t apparent in 16th century England or anywhere else in the western
world for that matter. All were liable to open ridicule via the medium of theatre, be they king or
pauper, man or woman, Moore or Jew as evidenced by the writing of the period. Everybody and
everything much to the delight of the paying public and the disdain of the censor was fair game.
The subject Jew, Moore etc. is irrelevant, as the subjects themselves are simply the masks upon
which the foil of disdain is played. Whether xenophobic, racist, misogamist or anti Semitic or any
other form of depredation Shakespeare s writing, rather than guilty of one, is representative of all.
Shakespeare uses the Jew as a representation rather than as an example and therefore, can be
forgiven for what we today would class as anti Semitism. The dearth of Jewry at this particular
period of history in England supports this and

Ban on the Usage of Cell Phone while Driving
Cell phone ban while driving Many states in America according to their research have found out
that use of cell phones in cars have contributed to several accidents as well as traffic violations
and are now legislating rules and regulations on cell phone usage so as to create safer driving
environment in the states hence reducing the number of accidents each and every day caused
by use of cell phones while driving. Jennifer Clark (2012 ) indicates that teenage drivers were
banned from any cell phone use while driving in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut,
Delaware, D.C., Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey,
North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. Specific
ages vary by state. Michigan bans cell phones for teens with probationary licenses in cases where
the cell phone has resulted in an accident or traffic violation. The use of mobile phones in cars is
one of several sources of driver distraction which contribute to road crashes and injuries to those
both inside and outside the vehicle. According to research reported by Tom and Ray Magliozzi
(n.d), Drivers are four times as likely to crash when talking on a phone ењ°nd three times as likely
when talking on a hands free phone. This is occasioned by physical distractions when the driver
has to use one or both hands to dial a number, answer or end a call, writing down telephone
numbers, instead of concentrating on the physical

The Strategic Aspects Of Globalization And Mergers And...
Globalization can be summarized as process by which the experience of everyday life, marked by
the diffusion of commodities and ideas, is becoming standardized around the world. Factors that
have contributed to globalization include increasingly sophisticated communications and
transportation technologies and services, mass migration and the movement of peoples, a level of
economic activity that has outgrown national markets through industrial combinations and
commercial groupings that cross national frontiers and international agreements that reduce the cost
of doing business in foreign countries (Merriam, 2013).
2 Integrations Merging and Acquisitions In the 1990 s, seemingly not a day goes by when the
business press doesn t report on multimillion dollar mergers and acquisitions. Companies of all
sizes and all industries worldwide are seizing the opportunities to broaden their competitiveness by
forging corporate combinations with strategically synergistic partners. The goals of achieving
growth, tapping into new markets, and creating unassailable strategic advantage underlie each
transaction (Clemente Green Span, 1998). Mergers and acquisitions (abbreviated M A) is an
aspect of corporate strategy, corporate finance and management dealing with the buying, selling,
dividing and combining of different companies and similar entities that can help an enterprise
grow rapidly in its sector or location of origin, or a new field or new location, without

Inside houses a cosy kitchen, a scratched wooden table, paisley patterned lounge chairs and Donny
Rays bed, the centre of a simulated hospital room, with the few medical devices the Blacks could
rustle up without the aid of insurance.
Another setting quite effectively featured is St. Peter s hospital, housing battered Riker. Entering
the dim and gloomy cafeteria, contrasting the brightly lit, disinfected, starched white walls of the
hospital rooms and hallways, gives the viewer a peek inside Riker s world of pain, confusion and
poorly administered bandages.
The courtroom, where most of the action takes place, is the epitome of law and order. The
squeaky clean marble floors and polished wooden beams display the tradition of the courtroom and
the importance of all which takes place in this setting. Other settings also lend credit to the film, the
tackiness of Bruiser Stone s office, the peace and beauty represented at the jewellry store where
Riker is employed amidst visits to the hospital, and the dark and secretive cinema, where Baylor
and Riker share a tender moment. All settings are effectively and appropriately chosen and are very
apt in relevance to the storyline of the film.
The storyline is one of the most crucial parts of a successful film, though the actors who portray
their characters realistically are the absolute essence of the production. The Rainmaker sports a

Long Beach Physical Activities Analysis
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states the following: Regular physical activity in
childhood and adolescence improves strength and endurance, helps build healthy bones and
muscles, helps control weight, reduces anxiety and stress, increases self esteem, and may improve
blood pressure and cholesterol levels (Cdc.gov). Our target population of middle school adolescents
in Long Beach has higher than average obesity rates; therefore implementing a physical activity
intervention plan is necessary.
The current physical education teacher will carry out the high intensity interval training intervention
three times a week during physical education class. This intervention will utilize the class time by
teaching the children circuit training along with cardio and strength training in order to fully
promote a healthy lifestyle through physical activity. The resources needed will be provided by us
and be available to the children during each intervention class. These include jump ropes, 5 and 7
pound dumbbells, resistance bands, and step platform with removable stackable risers.
Upon beginning the high intensity interval ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

than any other social institution except the family and provide a setting in which friendship

knowledge and reinforce behavior change towards obesity. Without knowing the proper
information, students can t properly weigh the advantages and disadvantages of physical activity

Code Of Hammurabi Essay
Laws play major role in civilizations, without them there would be no boundaries or consequences
that can promise the people safety from dangers. The Code of Hammurabi was written by King
Hammurabi, who began ruling the Babylonian Empire in about 1800 BC. There were 282 laws that
applied to everyone, though application of the laws and punishment differed according to social
class. The purpose of Hammurabi s code was to make the punishment so harsh that the individual
who committed the crime would never think of committing it again, and if a crime does happened
the punishment is arrange to punish the criminal in a manner that they committed the crime. This is
why The Code of Hammurabihas such noticeable themes, like gender equality, importance... Show

Laws 209, If a man strike that daughter of a man and bring about a miscarriage, he shall pay ten
shekels of silver for her miscarriage, and 210 If that woman dies, they shall put his daughter to

law 132, If a man strike his father, they shall cut off his hand, shows how important loyalty was
within the families.
Gender equality is a major theme that is reveal throughout Hammuria s code. For example law

showing if there isn t an agreement between the husband and wife there is no marriage therefore a
woman isn t forced into a marriage without getting something in return. Also, there are many laws
involving how a cheated spouse of either party is punished.
Lastly, Hammurabi s code has a largely number of laws protecting the citizens with an eye for

Why Do People Should Be Able To Drive At 16
Why People Should Be Able to Drive at 16 Getting your driver s license is one of the biggest
milestones in mostly everyone s life, so why should teens have to wait until they re 18 to get it?
Some think that people should have to wait until they re 18 to get their driver s license because
teens shouldn t have that type of responsibility, but others think that teens should be able to get
their license at 16 because of school and jobs. First off teenagers should be able to get their
license at 16 because parents won t be able to drive teenagers to their jobs and school all the
time. Most parents have jobs and need to leave early but their child doesn t need to be at school
for another hour, but without a license the child won t be able to get

Telephone Conversation By Soyinka
Wole Soyinka s Telephone Conversation is an eloquent exchange of dialogue between a dark
West African man and his British landlady that inexorably verges on the question of apartheid.
The poet makes use of the most articulate means to air his views, through that of a telephone
conversation, where there is instant and natural give and take. It exhibits a one to one
correspondence between the two. The interaction between a coloured and a white individual at
once assumes universal overtones. At the outset, the poet says that the price seemed reasonable
and the location indifferent . Note that as a word, even though the word indifferent denotes
being unbiased , it is a word with negative connotations. However, as we come across the
Landlady s biased nature; the word indifferent gains positive overtones, as it is better than being
impartial. The lady swears that she lived off premises . Nevertheless, the very aspect of his colour
poses a problem to her, far from her promise to remain aloof. Nothing remains for the poet, he says,
but confession. It gives a picture of him sitting in a confessional, when he hasn t committed any
crime....his crime is his colour, his remorse is solutionless. He... Show more content on

after a certain point people tend to joke at their own agony. As the saying goes: Be a God, and

The Role Of Settler Colonization And Its Negative...
In April 1995 Pamela George, an Ojibway women, was brutally murdered in Saskatchewan. Her
murderers Steven Kummerfield and Alex Ternowetsky, young middle class white men, were
convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to merely six and a half years in prison. George s
story is one of the many Indigenous women who have been murdered or missing over the past
years. There are over 580 cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women, close to half are put
aside and left unsolved. Only 53% of these cases have lead to charges of homicide (Klement 8).
Drastically, statistics indicate that Aboriginals are faced with more hardships throughout their life
compared to the average Canadian. Indigenous groups, particularly women, suffer from a lower
rate of education, higher suicide rates and an array of health risks. This paper will examine the role
settler colonization history has played in perpetuating conditions for violenceto indigenous women,
many of which are still experienced today. This will be accomplished by first assessing the history
of settler colonization and its negative repercussions. Secondly, it will use Sherene Razak s concept
of spatial segregation, to illustrate how state institutions have facilitated violence through space,
race and the law. Lastly, this paper will use evidence from the film Finding Dawn to further
demonstrate how violence towards indigenous women is institutionally produced.
In the 16th century, French colonists arrived to Newfoundland

Analysis Of The Book I Am
At the beginning of the novel, I am immediately implanted a general impression of McTeague, a
clumsily single minded giant, who operates his own dental practice and goes about his daily
routine with satisfaction: he would sit at the bay window (1) reading the paper (1) and
[gorging] with steam beer (1) and even play regularly on his concertina. Moving his immense
limbs (2) slowly and ponderously, McTeague looks like a draught horse, immensely strong,
stupid, docile, obedient (3). Worse than that, his mind was as his body, heavy, slow to act,
sluggish (2). But thanks to his barbaric mind, he is not saddened by his terrible appearance;
instead he feels that his life is quite a success with the dental practice guaranteeing him a stable
income, that he could hope for nothing better (3). He is never fed up with his repetitive days,
and the only enjoyment in his tedious life probably is to appreciate the panorama of the urban
street from his bay window, where the world goes past (6). No matter the various shops or people
from all walks of life, from seven o clock in the morning to eleven in the evening, never fail to
interest him. Besides that, the other way that could connect McTeague with the outside world is
Marcus. Unlike his friend, McTeague is introversive and indifferent to the society and
neighborhood, knowing nothing except for his routine. Therefore, he is frequently bewildered by
Marcus while listening to his political tirade with admiration; but he

The family tree became more complicated after Augustus had his stepson Tiberius briefly marry his daughter, and then adopted Tiberius outright as son and successor in A.D. 4. Augustus Caesar died in A.D. 14, his empire secured and at peace. His reported last words were twofold: to his subjects he said, I found Rome of clay; I leave it to you of marble, but to the friends who had stayed with him in his rise to power he added, Have I played the part well? British Abolition Movement The debate around British abolition movement centers on how what could possibly motivate an empire, with one of the largest slave economies in the world, to end an institution they had heavily relied on for centuries in the span of fifty years. This question has plagued historians for nearly two hundred years, as they attempt to identify what caused public opinion to shift from a view of indifference towards slaveryto a massive, full fledged push for abolition. Heaney adds meaning to his poem by metaphorically comparing blackberries to pleasurable things in our lives and that they should be savored in the moment rather than stored. The author s choice of blackberries in the summer has a subtle significance. Because blackberries only ripen in the summer and because they spoil easily, he is able to convey how precious these blackberries are and why the narrator lusts for them. • 18. The Endings Of Sophocles Antigone Although they are versions of the same play, the endings of Sophocles Antigone and Anne Carson s Antigonick convey contrasting ideas of the power of fate, and its role in tragedy. In Antigone, fate is described as an inevitable, insurmountable aspect of life that cannot be avoided. On the other hand, Antigonick shows fate to be a malleable product which can be controlled by the decisions individuals take in their lives. Through the role of the chorus, the addition of Nick, and the catharses of the characters, Carson shows that fate is something which we can master. In both texts, the responsibility of the chorus is to comment upon the play s proceedings, and to make key observations about the characters actions. As Antigone is being paraded to her burial in Antigone, the chorus states, The power of fate is a wonder,/ dark, terrible wonder / neither wealth nor armies/ towered walls nor ships/ black hulls lashed by the salt/ can save us from that force. (1045 1050) It emphasizes that fate is very powerful, and that it is not within humans capacity to alter. Thus, Antigone and Creon are never capable of influencing their own lives; they are not responsible for the tragedythat ensues, because fate would have seen to it anyway. In contrast, the chorus in Antigonick says that it likes to find precedents, pointing out that We re not at a loss how to think about this/ We re not without guidance. This surely shows that the current minimum wage is not doing the job it was implemented to do, as families aren t being able to get by and maintain a good quality of life on these salaries. The Security architecture logically separates complicated arrangement of end to end system s security related features into discrete architectural components. This discretion allows a certain systematic way to deal with end to end security that can be utilized for planning of new security solutions and for accessing the security of the current networks. The security architecture gives a complete, top down, end to end point of view of system security and can be connected to network components, administrations, and applications keeping in mind the end goal to distinguish, anticipate, and correct security vulnerabilities. There are various threats that should be taken into consideration since these threats are likely to destruct, corrupt remove disclose or interrupt any information or services that helps in the efficiency of an application. Many evolutionists, philosophers and biologists have presented sufficient evidence that evolution is true. Yet there is still debate about this contentious topic. With the facts and findings of fossilrecords of earlier species, ideas of initial theorists, and our own genetics and DNA, evolution can be hard to prove wrong. Evolution is the process through which the characteristics of organisms change over successive generations, by means of genetic variation . (What is evolution) Simply, descent with modification. Firstly, the location of the buildings is disparate, the Oslo Opera House(picture 1) does not really have a connection to the landscape, since it is mostly part of the city surrounded by other buildings and where traffic is heavy. Time and again his work is held up as representative of that which we with our 21st century sensibilities have been educated to abhor and disavow. The hatred of man because of race, color or creed has, within the collective conscience been largely rejected. The fostering of a self regulating society has engrained contemporary sensibilities through the policy of political correctness: a body politic of public consciousness that wasn t apparent in 16th century England or anywhere else in the western world for that matter. All were liable to open ridicule via the medium of theatre, be they king or pauper, man or woman, Moore or Jew as evidenced by the writing of the period. Factors that have contributed to globalization include increasingly sophisticated communications and transportation technologies and services, mass migration and the movement of peoples, a level of economic activity that has outgrown national markets through industrial combinations and commercial groupings that cross national frontiers and international agreements that reduce the cost of doing business in foreign countries (Merriam, 2013). 2 Integrations Merging and Acquisitions In the 1990 s, seemingly not a day goes by when the business press doesn t report on multimillion dollar mergers and acquisitions. Inside houses a cosy kitchen, a scratched wooden table, paisley patterned lounge chairs and Donny Rays bed, the centre of a simulated hospital room, with the few medical devices the Blacks could rustle up without the aid of insurance. Another setting quite effectively featured is St. Peter s hospital, housing battered Riker. Entering the dim and gloomy cafeteria, contrasting the brightly lit, disinfected, starched white walls of the hospital rooms and hallways, gives the viewer a peek inside Riker s world of pain, confusion and poorly administered bandages. The courtroom, where most of the action takes place, is the epitome of law and order. The squeaky clean marble floors and polished wooden beams display the tradition of the courtroom and the importance of all which takes place in this setting. Other settings also lend credit to the film, the tackiness of Bruiser Stone s office, the peace and beauty represented at the jewellry store where Riker is employed amidst visits to the hospital, and the dark and secretive cinema, where Baylor and Riker share a tender moment. All settings are effectively and appropriately chosen and are very apt in relevance to the storyline of the film. The storyline is one of the most crucial parts of a successful film, though the actors who portray their characters realistically are the absolute essence of the production. • 48. Telephone Conversation By Soyinka Wole Soyinka s Telephone Conversation is an eloquent exchange of dialogue between a dark West African man and his British landlady that inexorably verges on the question of apartheid. The poet makes use of the most articulate means to air his views, through that of a telephone conversation, where there is instant and natural give and take. It exhibits a one to one correspondence between the two. The interaction between a coloured and a white individual at once assumes universal overtones. At the outset, the poet says that the price seemed reasonable and the location indifferent . Note that as a word, even though the word indifferent denotes being unbiased , it is a word with negative connotations. However, as we come across the Landlady s biased nature; the word indifferent gains positive overtones, as it is better than being impartial. The lady swears that she lived off premises . Nevertheless, the very aspect of his colour poses a problem to her, far from her promise to remain aloof. Nothing remains for the poet, he says, but confession. It gives a picture of him sitting in a confessional, when he hasn t committed any crime....his crime is his colour, his remorse is solutionless. He... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her murderers Steven Kummerfield and Alex Ternowetsky, young middle class white men, were convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to merely six and a half years in prison. George s story is one of the many Indigenous women who have been murdered or missing over the past years. There are over 580 cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women, close to half are put aside and left unsolved. Only 53% of these cases have lead to charges of homicide (Klement 8). Drastically, statistics indicate that Aboriginals are faced with more hardships throughout their life compared to the average Canadian. Indigenous groups, particularly women, suffer from a lower rate of education, higher suicide rates and an array of health risks. This paper will examine the role settler colonization history has played in perpetuating conditions for violenceto indigenous women, many of which are still experienced today. This will be accomplished by first assessing the history of settler colonization and its negative repercussions. Secondly, it will use Sherene Razak s concept of spatial segregation, to illustrate how state institutions have facilitated violence through space, race and the law. Lastly, this paper will use evidence from the film Finding Dawn to further demonstrate how violence towards indigenous women is institutionally produced. • 50. Analysis Of The Book I Am At the beginning of the novel, I am immediately implanted a general impression of McTeague, a clumsily single minded giant, who operates his own dental practice and goes about his daily routine with satisfaction: he would sit at the bay window (1) reading the paper (1) and [gorging] with steam beer (1) and even play regularly on his concertina. Moving his immense limbs (2) slowly and ponderously, McTeague looks like a draught horse, immensely strong, stupid, docile, obedient (3). Worse than that, his mind was as his body, heavy, slow to act, sluggish (2). But thanks to his barbaric mind, he is not saddened by his terrible appearance; instead he feels that his life is quite a success with the dental practice guaranteeing him a stable income, that he could hope for nothing better (3). He is never fed up with his repetitive days, and the only enjoyment in his tedious life probably is to appreciate the panorama of the urban street from his bay window, where the world goes past (6). No matter the various shops or people from all walks of life, from seven o clock in the morning to eleven in the evening, never fail to interest him. Besides that, the other way that could connect McTeague with the outside world is Marcus. Unlike his friend, McTeague is introversive and indifferent to the society and neighborhood, knowing nothing except for his routine. Therefore, he is frequently bewildered by Marcus while listening to his political tirade with admiration; but he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
