Military Recruitment Process Essay
The process by which an organization locates and attract individuals to fill job vacancies is
known as recruitment. I recall how military recruiters try to get individuals to join the military and
the reason why some, like myself, choose to join and others did not. Both the organization and the
candidate seek to attract the other with their best foot forward, the Organization seeking to secure
a candidate that is highly qualified and be beneficial to the success of the organization and on the
other hand the candidate, who is trying to convince the recruiter he or she is the best person for
the job. During this process, however the objective of the organization and the candidate may
conflict since part of the of recruiting process is evaluating a candidate s strengths and weakness
but the candidate may only present his or her strengths. On the other hand, the candidate may not
get all the information from the organization since only the appealing stuff may be revealed. The
end goal for the organization is to hire someone that is not only qualified for the job, but someone
that will also stay with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

James Bradley s Flags Of Our Fathers
Flags of Our Fathers by James Bradley tells the story of the six men raised the flag in the battle
of Iwo Jima. The story begins with James Bradley who is the author and son of one of the flag
raisers named John Bradley, and wat is driving him to pursue the story of these men. Bradley and
his seven brothers and sisters knew that their father fought in World War II, their father didn t
like to talk about the flag raising and its aftermath, those were subjects that was painful for their
father to recall. Not long after the death of their father, James want to find out what cause his
father to react the way he did and how the six flag raisers met each other on Iwo Jima and the
event after the war. The flag raisers were all young they were from in eighteen to early twenties. As

The Enlightenment Period
Americans in the Enlightenment period strongly connected themselves with the classical age in
terms of how they approached their art. The Enlightenment period lasted for about 150 years, from
approximately 1700 1850. Throughout this time period many artists took inspiration from the
classical age which occurred in ancient Greece and Rome hundreds of years before. We can see
examples of this in buildings like The White houseand Monticello in America, and Kedleston Hall
in England. These three buildings, though located in very different parts of the world, all have a
number of aestheticly similar attributes.
The Enlightenment age was very much an intellectual movement that grew from interrelating the
theories of science, the environment and the human race (Enlightenment, 2015, para 1). The
origins of this movement came from ideas that date back to the Renaissance period in the 14th
century. Science became a big part of this period as people now did not just rely on the bible, they
began to be inquisitive about the world around them, thus the dividing of science and religion
occurred. Scientists began to ask questions about the environment around them, soon people
wanted proof and reasoning, not just thoughts and ideas. Another successful idea of that time was
that philosophers began to rethink the role of God and the effects on human life. People still
believed in God, but the significance of religion and the role that God played in peoples daily life
was not as

Arlington County Giftedness
Arlington County does an excellent job adhering to most of Moon s 9 points:
1.The definition for Arlington County goes with what the state and federal government adheres to
and bases its assessments on the most current possible manner. They recognize the diversity by
putting the information in all different languages. In addition,
The Office of Gifted Services reflects this philosophy and complies with Virginia Regulations
Governing Educational Services for Gifted Students based on the following concepts:
a.Giftedness is developmental; it is potential which must be nourished.
b.Gifted students share some characteristics with all other children.
c.There is variability among the gifted.
2.Arlington county Public Schools test everyone for giftedness and they can be identified any year.

This was eye opening to me since it details every test and the year to be given. I had no idea that
all of this information was out there. I did find it interesting that they did not give any cut off

3.I know for a fact that the SOLs which is one of the standardized assessments that Arlington
County looks at for gifted education, is validated and normed every year. In Earth Science there is a
different cut off score to pass/pass advanced every year depending upon the test. Also, because there
are so many different versions of the tests the scores (which are computerized) do not come back

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Enron
6.
In the beginning right after the bankruptcy filing in 2001 the FBI assigned two agents to
investigate and within weeks, they had a crew of 45, many were hand picked from field offices
around the country for their expertise in traversing even the most convoluted paper trails. In
January 2002, agents executed a consent search of Enron s corporate headquarters, and in February
2002, Enron s board of directors issued findings from its own internal investigation. Financial
analysts combed through hundreds of bank and brokerage accounts and with what they found they
secured restraining orders, seizing more than $168 million in assets and supporting insider trading
charges. Enron used many dummy companies to hide its debt. A few were: RADR A... Show more

After passing the full senate vote July 15,2002 it went to the conference committee. The committee
approved it on July 24, 2002. It was passed on July 30, 2002. Some pros: It discloses crucial
information to shareholders, it emphasizes the need for internal controls. A few of the cons are: It
is costly; it results in increased audit cost. Here are how the sections are laid out. Section 302
requires corporate management to certify that financial statements have been reviewed by them,
and that those statements are accurate and truthful. Section 401 requires financial information to
include disclosures on any relevant off balance sheet obligations that may exist. Section 404
requires management to indicate whether or not the internal control procedures of the company are
sufficient and effective. That said, this has costly implications for companies that are publicly
traded as it requires lots of resources to establish and maintain the internal controls required by the
law. Small companies are being disproportionately burdened because auditors are not tailoring their
procedures to the client. Section 409 requires management to update the public when significant
financial matters when they happen rather than wait for the quarterly or annual report to do so.
Section 802 imposes penalties for violations of SOX rules, which include fines or time spent in
jail. Section 1107 Is the probation against employee

The Canon of Scripture Essay
Most Christians do not think about the canon of scripture or know what it is or means in
theology. Most take for granted the Bible they have and never question how it came into being.
Today, we have 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament. There was a
time, however, that we did not have a canon. Bruce defines canon as books of the Biblethat were
recognized to be considered scripture (p. 17). The importance of the canon and how it was
developed was intriguing to professor and author F.F. Bruce. He dedicated his book The Canon of
Scripture to explore and explain the formulation of the canon we have today. Bruce taught in
universities, including the University of Manchester, where he began to lecture students on the...

The third section dissects the formation of the New Testament with more historical context and
views of other writings defined as Gnostic writing. Bruce explains the spoken words of the
apostles carried as much authority as their written words and gives an in depth explanation how
the Gospels and Pauline writings were viewed by the Church Fathers. The rest of the section
demonstrates the Church Fathers and their views of what was to be considered scripture and the
councils that affirmed the inspired scripture. Bruce concludes by explaining the criteria used for
writings to be considered canon. He goes into more depth on the inspiration of the scriptures an
integral part of how the canon came together. The close of the book is appended by two lectures
that explore the secret gospel of Mark and the Primary Sense and Plenary Sense of scripture. Bruce
offers a solid explanation of the formation of the canon chronologically starting with the Hebrew
scriptures (p. 21) until the 4th century where church councils started to present the first spoken
finished canon (p. 97). Bruce shows the importance of the Old Testament scriptures, but writes most
about the New Testament. He not only shows how the New Testament came to be a canon but
offers a deep analysis of non canonical scripture called the Apocrypha (pp. 48, 90 93). Bruce offers
impressive observation into the Gnostic writers as it regards the

The Inheritors
Before the history is recorded through the invention of writing, the prehistoric men had been
showing their existence or culture through painting, tools used, and oral traditions. The end of
prehistory is different for every region since the discovery of writing varies with different places.
By using the oral traditions, tools, and painting, numerous philosophers claimed several ideas of
how the prehistoric men lives and the cultureor social behaviors in the prehistoric period. However,
as different new antiques are found, philosophers then presented new theories about the prehistoric
men s cultures. Therefore, our perspectives for the prehistoric culture are also changed or shifted
throughout the time. Moreover, with different fields of study... Show more content on

By looking at the skulls and bones fragments that were discovered, Leori Gourhan discovered that
humans had erect postures long time ago (pg. 18). Once humans were able to stand upright, the
hands are free with the brains developed that allow humans to create technology, which plays
important roles in the development of human society (pg. 19). In other words, hands are the first
tools that humans use as the technology. With the freedom of hands, humans are able to create
other tools, such as spears, basketry, and woodwork, and to use their brains (pg. 133). In other
words, as discussed in the lecture slide, even the skeleton evolves through technological feedback
and involvement of the body and the mind with the surrounding world, the mind is a byproduct of
this body interaction. The prehistoric culture started as the humans were able to stand upright with
the liberation of hands. With the freedom of hands, humans are able to create more technological
feedback to the surrounding world and that the brains began to evolve since humans have to
understand and discover the tools that will make their lives easier. Leori Gourhan claims that our
brains have been developing since the use of hand till thousands of years ago when the Egyptians

Digging
Seamus Heaney was born on April 13, 1939, on a farm in Castledawson,
County Derry, Northern Ireland, the eldest of eight children. In 1963, he began teaching at St.
Joseph s College in Belfast.
The first poem I ll be looking at is digging it was written in
1966.
The poem consists of 9 stanzas that vary between two lines and five lines in length. There is no
pattern to the stanzas, perhaps to reflect the idea that there is no pattern or predictability to our
memories. In the poem there is quite a variation in the language e.g. the title is blunt. It is only
when we have read the poem carefully that we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was also proud of his grandfather, who was so keen to work that he hardly stopped when
Heaney brought him some milk. To drink it, and then fell to right away this show how hard he
worked. His work was precise nicking and slicing neatly and he was strong heaving sods over his
shoulder.
Heaney does not explain exactly why he has no spade to follow men like them . Does he think he
is not physically strong enough for the work? Or does he think his father and grandfather may not
approve of him cultivating the land.
There is quite a lot of alliteration in digging e.g. curd cuts digging down and down and the
squelch and slap of soggy peat this gives the poem life it makes it more interesting to read. The
opening simile is striking Heaney s pen is snug as a gun . It shows how perfectly the pen fits his
hand, this shows how well suited Heaney is to write. (In the fourth stanza, Heaney describes how
perfectly his father s body is in tune with the spade, showing how well suited he is to dig.) The
gun image also suggests the strength of the pen, it is a weapon for writing.
There is a writing technique called enjambment which means lines in a poem that run on from on to
another without a punctuation or pause.
There is an example of this between the second and third stanza. My father, digging.
I look down Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds Bends low, comes up twenty years away,

Dividend Policy at Fpl Group
Subject: Dividend Policy at FPL Group, Inc.
Problem: Should FPL cut dividend? And should Stark revise her investment recommendation?
Options: 1) Keep dividend per share growth at 1.65% 2) Dividend per share grows at 1% 3) Keep
dividend per share constant at $2.46 4) Cut dividend by 30% and repurchase 10 million shares each
year after the cut
Recommendations:
We recommend FPL to cut dividend by 30% in order to free up more cash to facilitate its growth
and fight the upcoming competitions, and repurchase 10 million shares each year after the cut to
offset the negative signaling impact.
Analysis:
1) Industry Overview

There were many potential competitors of FPL in Florida including, 3 major investor owned
utilities, 20 municipal and rural cooperative generating systems, and 19 independent power
producers. Also, there were other large investor owned utilities in neighboring states, which would
target consumers in Florida.
Under a dramatic changes of the market competition, S amp;P came up with a new evaluation
system, which rated FPL as one of the top 10% investor owned utilities and upgraded its senior
secured debt to A plus and its senior unsecured debt to single A. Despite of its upgraded debt
rating, FPL experienced the 1.4% increase in its long term interest expense since 1994. Along with
an intensified competition and a higher interest rate, FPL s stock price went down by 19.6%, which
was still smaller than 22.1%, by which S amp;P s Electric Utilities Index decreased.
3) FPL s Current Financial Position
FPL s liquidity dropped from 1.004 in 1992 to 0.681 in 1993 as the growth rate of current assets
was lower than that of current liabilities. The main contributions of the increase in current
liabilities were significant increases in notes payable commercial paper and deferred clause
revenues. Equity increased significantly while there was a slight increase in assets and a small
decrease in liabilities that debt ratio, debt to equity ratio and equity multiplier dropped by 0.2, 1,

The First Poem Thanatopsis By William Cullen Bryant
To him who in the love of nature holds / communication with her visible forms.... (Bryant 1 2).
Nature was thought to be the most beautiful thing in the world in the Romanticism Era. William
Cullen Bryant wrote many short stories, books and poems. He wrote some in his early childhood
and some in his later ages. His most famous poem, Thanatopsis , was written when he was only
seventeen years old. Because he was so young when he initially composed the work, it had to be
edited many times throughout his life. Bryant s first poem Thanatopsis , gave birth to American
poetry; if not the best known American poem of the romanticismera, it was one of the most
influential and well known poems of the time.
William Cullen Bryant was born on November 3, 1794, in a small town called Cummington,
Massachusetts. His Father, Dr. Peter Bryant, was a physician and a surgeon who moved to
Cummington only two years before the birth of William. His mother, Sarah Snell, was a daughter
of one of the first settlers. William later gives his mother credit for making a strong impression on
his value system (qtd. in Reuben). William was an abnormally brilliant child. When he was barely

Internal Conflict In The Lovely Bones
A well written story involves important topics that are interesting for the reader, but also
incorporates strong emotions. Susie Salmon, a fourteen year old girl, is raped and murdered by a
neighborhood man. She tells the story from her point of view in heaven as she watches her family
grieve over her loss and search to find her killer. In The Lovely Bones, Alice Seboldcreates a
suspenseful novel that explores rape through the victims eyes while also telling a heart wrenching
story with conflict, imagery, and plottwists. The internal conflict of this novel causes the reader to
feel sympathy for the main character, Susie. When Susie is raped and then murdered, she goes
to heaven. When she is there, she is so wrapped up in her family s life, she can not move on. She
is stuck in a different heaven, where she can t see any of her family that has passed, and all she
sees is Earth. Susie s counselor in heaven, Frannie, gives her some advice: If you stop asking
why you were killed instead of someone else, stop investigating the vacuum left by your loss,
stop wondering what everyone left on Earth is feeling, she said, you can be free. Simply put you
have to give up on Earth (Sebold 120). Susie wants to see the real heaven, where she could forget
the past, and be filed with joy. However, to her this seems impossible.. This internal conflict of
letting go of Earth to have a peaceful afterlife, holds her back from exploring what is actually out
there. Alice Sebold creates a

Should The NFL Be Held Liable for Injuries Suffered by...
The topic I will be discussing in this draft is the debate on whether the National Football League
should be held liable for injuries that their employee s sustained while playing professional
football. The injuries that I will discuss are concussion and traumatic brain injuries related to
multiple concussions. In years past this injury wasn t know n to be as prevalent because that
game was played at a much slower speed. Players in todays game are bigger, faster and stronger
than ever. It has been documented that the players themselves willingly know the risk they are

The HMO would be more likely cover such an injury like a concussion or concussion related
symptoms, but the NFL is less likely to do so. The NFL can debate that players make a
conscious decision to participate in a sport where this risk is involved.. The players that are
granted coverage will have top cover form outside parties involved and they can take a look at the
historical legislative involvement in overseeing or regulating professional football.
After the NFL commissioner came under scrutiny from Washington lawmakers on whether or
not the injuries in his sport were the cause of traumatic brain disease. The commissioner enacted
a policy that players had to pass a series of test by a neurologist prior to them being allowed to
return to play( Grove, J) This policy change is similar to a normal employee passing a physical

to prevent players from returning to the game to soon. The current NFL commissioner Roger

the rule of no Face masking was enacted. This rule prohibited a player from grabbing another
player s facemask (Grove, J 657). In the late 1970 s an additional rule was enacted. The NFL
finally passed a rule prohibiting players from using their helmets to

The Apollo 11 Mission Of The United States
The moon landing mission marked a new technological era for the United States. This amazing
feat ushered in an age of pride and intelligence for the American people that swept across the
nation. This fateful success gave birth to America s interest in space and buried itself into our very
culture and our long and adventurous history. The Apollo 11s successful mission has also greatly
affected current technologies today. In order to further understand the mission s impact, research on
the Apollo 11 mission s preparation, the mission itself, and the technologies it impacted, is needed.

An educated and properly trained crew is definitely the foundation of the successful Apollo 11
mission, however, the crew needs proper equipment, or technology, in order to train. The pilots of
the Apollo 11, Neil Armstrongand Buzz Aldrin, were not able to access the main practice ship used
for simulating the moon landing until the Apollo 10 crew left. After the Apollo 10 crew left, the

How to Handle Violence in Youth Sports
Everyone agrees that parent involvement is a good thing. But when the parent behaves
inappropriately, it creates a poor environment for the children to learn and enjoy themselves.
Sideline rage with parents behaving badly at youth sports events is such an epidemic, that 76% of
respondents from 60 high school athletic associations said increased spectator interference is
causing many officials to quit (Associated Press, 6/3/01). Parents are supposed to be role models,
and the lessons they teach will determine their values and actions in the future. These days violence
in children s sports is not limited to the playing field; overbearing parents are creating dangerous
situations on the field.
Involving your child in sports is important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At age ten, many kids have private coaching and attend specialized clinics in the off season. The
coach is usually someone with a background in sports, either a retired professional player or coach.
Practices are now scheduled for twice a week and attending a weekly clinic is strongly
recommended, with a strength conditioning workout schedule between practices. All of these
changes mean more involvement time for the parents. Parents are now spending up ten hours a
week watching their children compete with other children, and this pressure can sometimes be too
much for the parent.
In 2002, Thomas Junta was convicted of involuntary manslaughter after he attacked Michael
Costin, who later died of his injuries. Mr. Costin was refereeing a pickup game of hockey. The
fight was witnessed by a dozen children including the children of both Mr. Junta and Mr. Costin
(Butterfield, 2002). While this is by far one of the worst incidents in sports rage, there are other
types of behavior that can still harm our youth. Physical violence is often a rare occurrence; verbal
abuse and intimidation have been seen frequently. When a parents scream at their child after
practice that he/she did not run fast enough or hit hard enough, can be considered a form of verbal
abuse. Also consider when a parent of one child screams at the team for not performing well and
not winning the game, this combined with swearing can reduce a child to tears. Daniel Wann, PhD

Airway Assesment Of The Difficult Airway Before Manipulation
CHAPTER III
AIRWAY ASSESMENT IN TRAUMA PATIENTS Identification of the difficult airway before
manipulation is the Holy Grail of clinical management. It is the first step in preparing for patient
care. Selection of airway devices, techniques, and procedures all pivot on airway evaluation (Carin,
2008). Preoperative examination of the airway is essential. Identification of patients with a
potentially difficult airway before anesthesia allows time to plan an appropriate anesthetic
technique. Previous anesthetic records should always be consulted. However, a past record of
normal tracheal intubation is no guarantee against difficulty on subsequent occasions as airway
anatomy can be altered as in trauma affecting the airway. The presence of stridor or hoarse voice is
warning sign for the anesthetist. As it is impossible to identify all patients with a difficult airway
during preoperative assessment, the anesthetist must be prepared to manage the unexpected
difficult laryngoscopy (Alan et al,. 2001).
пѓ Historical Indicators of Airway Difficulty: The intent of obtaining an airway history is to elicit
previously known factors indicating that airway management has been (and likely will be) difficult.
Any patient who is awake and capable of coherent conversation should be asked about prior
intubation and ventilation successes or failures. Some patients possess a Medic Alert bracelet
indicating a history of difficult intubation or ventilation and this can be useful in obtunded

Police promise that, as a white woman with no criminal record, Ray will be freed from jail in
several months as long as she cooperates. Lila arrives at Ray s house and sees Ray s children

Structure
The structure of this film is conventional because the story is told in a chronological order, which
makes the film realistic. A series of incidents that happen during their river crossings show Ray and
Lila s terrors and desires, and the more they notice these emotions, the more they gain self revelation
through the jobs.
The script ends with character s personal transformations as Ria and Lila decide to go against their
character. Ray and Lila s actions and decisions result from their transformations through the
sequence of the script.
However, the film s resolution is inconclusive. The script begins with Ray searching for her run

Bomb Recycling Robots
With lots of talk revolving around robots in the news, be it from artificial intelligence (AI)
driven cars or that they are going to take all our jobs, there is an interesting discussion to be had
about it. An article written by the Forrester states that robots will replace 7% of US jobs by 2025
, it does seem like a large problem, but it is not all bad news. With AI driven cars replacing
normal cars on the road and drones taking to the skies, there are many new ways that robots will
be able to save lives in the upcoming years that should not be over looked. Driverless cars are
poised to take millions of jobs when they are fully approved for the masses, but there is a silver
lining to it. With the technology getting better for AI driven cars where little to no human input is

The first bomb disposal robot was used in the 1970s (Army Technology). Since all bombs are
not created equally and can be placed in various location, remote detonation is not always the
best choice. This use to require bomb squad personnel to defuse live bombs, putting them at risk
of injury or death. Older bomb disposal robots would require two robots, one to capture the
bomb on a live feed and the other to use its tools (army Technology). The robots now are not just
robots strapped with its own bombs, but more versatile camera mounted one instead. Some of
the more costly robots can be controlled with little to no training and can be controlled with just
a screen and a joy stick. The robot can be deployed at a safe distance and then driven to the
location and deal with it there. The person controlling the robot can then use the camera and
controls to try and defuse the bomb as if they were there themselves. Some of the newer robots
can be controlled with gloves covered in sensors, allowing the operator to work as if they were next

Cardozo Case Summary
A recently graduated accountant accepted a company wanting to go public as its first client. That
company was Cardozo and Co, Inc., incorporated in Massachusetts, but headquartered in Miami,
FL. The IPO was successful, and the public company decided to remain with the accountant. After
the IPO, the accountant provided tax advice on matters, such as sheltering money to the Cayman
Islands, and helped to prepare the financial statements for the proxy statement during a merger to
another company that would significantly increase its worth. The auditor s opinion on the
financial statements prepared had been released to the public, and even used by a Prosser Bank to
provide a loan to Cardozo and Co, Inc. An embezzlement was discovered, and the President... Show

v. Touche, the court used the primary benefit test, which became known as Ultramares. Ultramares
requires privity, the accountant has a fiduciary duty only to whom they performed work for or an
entity very close to privity. Ultramares requires four aspects for a nonclient; the accountant must be
aware of the name, purpose, extent, and that the client is aware of the nonclient s use. If Ultramares
was used by Prosser Bank and the shareholders, it would fail on several requirements, but primarily
due to the fact that privity is not present, and the parties existence was unknown to the accountant.
In the case of Tricontinental Industries, Ltd. v. PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, Tricontinental relied
on the Anicom, Inc. s financial statements audited by PWC, but PWC did not note in its opinion the
discrepancies it discovered during the audit, and Tricontinental entered into an Asset Purchase
Agreement. Anicom eventually restated its financials and became bankrupt. Tricontinenal blames
PWC for negligence. The judge ruled in favor of PWC. Even though this case has different facts
than the Cardozo and Co, Inc. situation, under Ultramares, the accountant intended his work to be
used by his client. The Restatement (Second) of Torts, specifically with regard to the foreseen
users and foreseen class of users test expanded the liability of accountants to foreseen users and

Pros And Cons Of Gun Control In The United States
Controlling Our Guns is not the Way to go Being a daughter of a game warden and also growing
up in the rural southern parts of Tennessee, I have always been exposed to firearms my entire
life. There is a famous quote that is relevant to gun control, there are no bad guns, only bad men
(Squires, 2002). Placing restrictions on firearms has been one of the biggest political affairs in not
only America but other countries as well. Firearms in America make up $24 billion of our
economy, therefore, we can say that guns play a major role in the U.S. Many people believe
implementing gunlaws and regulations seems to be more of a disadvantage than an advantage to
our country, because gun control has failed in places like Ireland and the United Kingdom.... Show

The definition of gun control involves politics, legislation, and how the use of firearms is being
restricted (Charles, 2015). The main arguments over gun control is mainly a relationship between
the state s powers to regulate public order over citizens (Spitzer, 1998). Controlling our guns does
not reduce crime and violence which has been demonstrated by other countries such as Ireland and
the United Kingdom and the United States government should look to those countries as examples.
When the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution, they wrote it based on justice and what was
fair to the American people. The purpose of the Constitution is to be the law of the land, therefore,
it establishes and maintains order for that provides a guiding hand for citizens (Spitzer, 1998).
Laws banning firearms would only be followed by the law abiding. Citizens living in the United
States have had access to guns since the beginning when they were used to hunt and gather food
and as a mean of protection. Nowadays, hunting is still a sport enjoyed by millions, who already
have many regulations that they must follow. When the Second Amendment was written, it was

Basic Aspects Of A Wooden Armoire
It s true that you can store many different items in a wooden armoire. It has various, functional
aspects as a storage unit. You can store your television and stereo equipment in an armoire, use it
to store clothes and you can use it for a computer/sewing area. The armoire s you purchase are very
nice, but you ll have a one of a kind pieceof furniture if you build your own. Follow the directions
below to do just that.
The easiest way to create the wooden armoire of your choice is to draw it out on a piece of paper. If
you ve never built any furniture before it may be easiest to draw simple squares and rectangles.
Don t start out with a lot of complicated shapes and designs. A few sheets of paper, a ruler and a
pencil will get you going. Make a plan on separate sheets of paper for each side, front and back.
You ll of course wantto be sure to label what each sheet is.
You ll want to measure the area where you decide to locate your armoire. It s a good idea to know
what you ll be using the armoire for; this makes location a little simpler. If it s to be used for TV
entertainment, place it so people won t have to struggle to watch it. If you intend to use it for
home office, you ll want it in a kind of out of the way area or your office.
For units like TV, you ll want to measure these things to place them inside your wooden armoire.
The same is true of computer components and the monitor.

The Use of Language to create the setting in The Great Gatsby
How Does F Scott Fitzgerald use Language to create the setting and the atmosphere of this
extract? This extract, which describes Jay Gatsby s extravagant party is a microcosm of the type
of seductive and exciting lifestyle that was lived by those eager to fulfil the American dream in
the 1920 s. It shows how the original dream of happiness, individualism and prosperity has
disintegrated into the mere pursuit of wealth. Fitzgerald himself experienced this type of society
and uses symbolism in this extract to represent his conflicting feelings about the Jazz age and

The guests attending the party represent the restless need of society to be entertained and
artificially amused by those willing to provide it, and in this case it is Gatsby who succumbs to
their insatiable need, both for his own benefit and theirs. We are guided through the first half of
the extract by Nick as a third person narrator, and thus the reader is given a view of what takes
place before the guests arrive at least once a fortnight several corps of caterers came down .
Nick gives the feeling of repetition of the rituals described every Friday five crates of oranges
and lemons arrived and by using this narrative technique, creates a tired ritualistic atmosphere of
routine labour on Mondays eight servants, including an extra gardener, toiled all day . The tense
changes, however, to the first person when people begin to enter the party, and the previously
felt negative atmosphere slowly disappear. The reader feels as if they are on Nick s level, seeing
what he sees. The reader s interpretation of the party is coloured by Nick s almost poetic
description and sometimes, ironic views on the event itself and its inhabitants. Two distinct types of
people are represented here: those who work for their money and those who don t. During this

Why The Us Must Not Adopt Ifrs Essay
Reasons why the US Must Not Adopt IFRS
Globalization has been changing the world. It has interconnected people, nations, and even
businesses. TodayВґs business can share information to investors around the world thanks to the
intelligent software of the actual society. Being more specific, the way in which investors and users
evaluate businesses performance is through the information contemplated in their financial
statements. These financial statements illustrate the current assets, liabilities, and stockholder
equity a company has in order to help users take economic decisions. However, not all the
companies are regulated to provide the same structuralized information around the world. Each
country possesses its own accounting standard that regulates the preparation of financial statements
of a company. In that way, companies information might differ between countries making the
comparability between financial statements difficult to be implemented by users in order to assess
the performance of foreign businesses. In view of the need of a globally accepted accounting
standard that promotes uniform standards for worldwide financial reporting, the International
Accounting Standards Committee (IASC), which then becomes replaced by the International
Accounting Standard Board in 2001, was created (Cathey and Schroeder 130). The IASB issues

The Importance Of Students In Education
While schools work on improving students academic achievement, curriculum, instructional
strategies, and interventions for struggling learners , obstacles still remain for some students in the
behavior category. About one third of students fail to learn because of behavioral issues that
interfere with their capacity to pay attention and participate in educational instruction
School administrators and teachers have become increasingly frustrated with the impact of poor
student behavior on academic achievement in their schools. Teachers continually struggle to master
classroom management strategies that are proactive, preventative, and lead to improved student
achievement but with the implementation of behavior strategies and curriculum schools can take
back the classroom distractions. Approaches aimed at improving school and classroom
environmental behavior is taking place in the form of PBIS, (Positive Behavior Intervention and
Support). This includes reducing the negative effects of disruptive or distracting behaviors and
rewarding the positive behaviors displayed by students. This strategy can enhance the effectiveness
of teaching and learning will occur, both for the students demonstrating problem behaviors and for
their classmates who are following the expectations set in place as a school wide system.

events in rulers lives. The chronological record turned out to serve history and the perpetuation of

other words, Maya religion and mythic history.
HISTORY OF THE ANCIENT MAYA
By 5000 BC, the Maya had settled along Caribbean and Pacific coasts, forming egalitarian fishing
communities. Certainly by 2000 BC the Maya had also moved inland and adopted agriculture for
their subsistence. Maize and beans formed the Maya diet then as today, although many other
foodstuffs squash, tomatoes, peppers, fruits, and game were supplements. The word for maize wa
is synonymous with food itself, and the maize god was honored from early times.

During the Early Preclassic (2000 900 BC), civilization began to take shape in parts of

dominating trade routes that extended from the modern Mexican state of Guerrero to Costa Rica,
passing through Maya regions. At COPAN, Honduras, and Cuello, Belize, around 1000 BC, local

Essay on Worth in Everyday Use
A Question of Worth in Everyday Use
From the fashionable, expensive clothing that the character Dee in Alice Walker s Everyday Use
wears, the girl seems almost immediately to be a person of great value and importance. It may
seem, too, at first glance, that Dee s mother and sister, Maggie, in their tin roof house and shabby
clothing, are of little or no worth in Everyday Use. The story ironically shows, under more careful
thought, that the very outer characteristics which deem Dee the more valuable character are the ones
which prove that the mother and Maggie have the more powerful inner worth.
In the beginning of the story, Dee is portrayed to be more physically valuable than her mother and
Maggie. Dee s outfit reeks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Houston A. Baker, Jr. and Charlotte Pierce Baker suggest that Ultimately, the framed Polaroid
photograph represents the limits of Dee s vision (416). With close examination, the camera, which
represents Dee s material wealth, can also be used to prove her inability to see people, places and
things for what and who they really are.
By far the most striking piece of evidence supporting Dee s lack of inner value is her desire to
have the quilts. At first, Dee s anger over being denied the quilts seems justified. Dee claims that
she would preserve the quilts and Hang them (1154). Yet, the real purpose of possessing the
quilts, as seen on a larger scope, is to use the old quilts for the simple life the mother and Maggie
lead. To actually put the quilts to everyday use, as Maggie will do, is symbolically preserving the
family heritage. Dee s cry that Maggie would probably be backward enough to put them to
everyday use (1154) portrays Dee as the materialistic, backward character.
Just as the argument over the quilts shows Dee as intrinsically immature, it directly points out that
the mother and Dee have, in fact, great value within them. Dee s mother, for instance, is at first
silent to Dee s demands to have the butter churn and wooden benches. When Dee takes the quilts,
previously promised to Maggie, the mother then becomes defensive. The mother questions Dee s
intended use of the quilts in an effort to deter Dee from her insistence of owning

Pinkley Northcraft (1994) emphasized that it is important to get a win win result between parties in
conflict management, maximizing benefits for every party. It is true that positive conflict promotes
understanding and leads to successful goals.
Based on the outcomes, conflict is usually divided into two types: functional conflict and
dysfunctional conflict (Balabanis, 1998).
2.2.1 Functional conflict
Functional or constructive conflict is described as a process which can facilitate the attainment of
the group s goals and to improve performance (Mckenna, 2006). It is helpful for individuals or
groups to create innovative thoughts and approaches to solve problems, and to performance better
in the long run. Perlow (2003) also argues that constructive decisions will be finally made by
reasonable people even they hold different opinions in uncertain conditions. This means functional
conflict focuses on finding a resolution to the problem.
One premise of the functional conflict is that people involved in the negotiation should be willing
to listen to one another and be interested in getting a solution that suits both sides. With this
premise, conflict can provide an important opportunity for growth. If the people is paranoid and
selfish who only considers his own profit or interest but cannot tolerant different opinions from one
anther, there won t be any chances for the success of the negotiation between both parties.

The existing and evolving threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction
Joshua Garrison
11/24/2014
To understand the threat that is posed by weapons of mass destruction (WMD), what defines a
WMD must first be understood. The definition and use of WMD is covered by 18 U.S. Code В§
2332a Use of weapons of mass destruction. The term weapon of mass destruction is defined as
any destructive device that is further defined under section 921. Under section 921, a
destructive device is anything that has explosive, incendiary, or poison gas properties. 18 U.S.
Code В§ 2332a Use of weapons of mass destruction expands further by defining a WMD as any
type of weapon that is designed to cause death or serious injury by release, dissemination, or
impact by nuclear, biological, or chemical means. The legal code also covers weapons that
release dangerous levels of radiation. Under FBI guidelines, the term WMD is used to describe a
collection of modalities that include: chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive and
is over referred to as CBRNE.
There are a couple of sayings about terrorism: the first is that terrorism is a weapon of the weak
and that terrorist want a lot of people watching, not dead . If these saying are true, then the threat
or risks of terrorist using a WMD would be fairly low. And with the consequences of a WMD
attack being far reaching, one must remain alert for changes that may signify a WMD attack. In

in Krajick 763). These myths have led scientist to believe that the explosion is reoccurring. The
Genesis flood store describes a large scale flood that covers all of the mountains and rids the
world of man and his wicked flesh. It has been argued that the rising sea level of the
Mediterranean, which followed the last deglaciation covered what is now the Bosporus Strait
and flowed into the Black Sea around 7,600 years ago. It is thought that this massive flood
served as the inspiration for the great flood described in The Book of Genesis. While this
evidence is not conclusive it adds a new perspective on flood stories. Atrahasis is a creation and
flood story that is much older but it is now reasonable to wonder if this too was not based on an
actual flood. Currently, there is no evidence directly linking the myth to actual flooding. However,
it was common for the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to flood during the time of this myths creation. It
is hoped that by understanding the patterns of these catastrophic environmental events. That lives
can be saved in the future. In the case of the previously undiscovered fault line in Seattle, it is
hoped that this information will reduce casualties in the event that the fault line slips again. Brian

My Academic Goals And Research Interests
My academic goals and research interests have developed significantly over the course of my
undergraduate studies at Susquehanna University. When I first arrived at Susquehanna I was a
biology major and had dreams of medical school. However, by the end of freshman year, I began
to develop an interest in neuroscience. Declaring a major in neuroscience allowed me to explore
the components of biology I loved, while incorporating psychologyand chemistry.
My research interests developed from my exposure to the various areas of neuroscience through
my internships, research experiences and courses. I am currently working on a research project,
with the goal of gaining a more thorough understanding of the genes involved in lateral glial cell
differentiation in the central nervous system of Drosophila. I conduct genetic crosses to obtain the
desired genomes and collect embryos for immunostaining. I examine the expression of a
conceptual gene, cg31235, which is solely expressed in longitudinal glial cells, in the presence of
the genes Pointed P1 (PntP1) and Reversed Polarity (Repo). Subsequently, I will then use
immunostaining to examine the expression of PntP1 and Repo in order to determine whether they
regulate the genes involved in the in the development and function of longitudinal glia. Last fall, I
presented my research proposal, which was followed by a presentation at the Society of

Compromise In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
Compromise has proven to set back our society by being to delicate of personal relationships.
Instead we should be able to recognize when we believe a certain situation can better a
civilization and stick to our ethics in order to further advance our world as we ve done for
centuries. Compromise can be useful in building personal relationships however, when we
abandon our ideas and leave them astray we are proving a weak link in the basic principles that
has helped us as a community thrive until this point. Too much willingness to compromise has
caused our world to be too focused on our feelings rather than advancing our society to better our
needs (Schneider, pg. 1). Albert Einstein himself said beware of rotten compromises. This sentence

Acute Stress Disorder ( Asd )
Within weeks after a traumatizing event, one may develop an anxiety disorder called acute stress
disorder (ASD). Acute stress disorder is a psychiatric condition characterized by acute stress
responses that may last from 2 days to 4 weeks do to a traumatic life event. Following the
experience of a traumatic event, an evaluation of ASD requires that a person experiences an
extreme emotional reaction to a stress contributor, along with receiving symptoms that lead to
impairment or distress (Shevlin, Hyland, Elklit, 2014). Acute stress is the most common form of
stress. It comes from insistence and pressures of the recent past and upcoming demands and
pressures of the near future. Acute stress can be thrilling and exciting in small measures, but having
too much can be exhausting (FeldmanHall et al., 2015). Acute stress disorder (ASD) was
introduced into DSM IV. Scientists wanted to be able to describe acute stress reactions that takes
place in the initial month after dealing with a traumatic event and before the possibility of
diagnosing post traumatic stress disorder. They wanted to be able to identify trauma survivors in
the acute phase who are high risk for post traumatic stress disorder (Bryant., 1999). Scientists
created a review that considers ASD in relation to other approaches to Acute stress responses, to
critique and discuss ASD in relation to Adjustment Disorder. After completing the review the

A Christian Perspective On Authority
to be a Christian. Weber would consider the priest in this situation a traditional authority figure
because he is respected because of the people s belief in the catholic religion. He represents
traditional practices and both the elect and sponsors both believe in the power and authority the
priest wield because of his authority. He is also legitimate because the priest has been through
seminary school and has contractually established his legitimacythrough completion of the program
which gives rise to rational legal authority. Sociologist, Durkheim has an alternative perspective on
authority. He defines authority as, the bedrock of society. Without authority, man has no sense of
duty, only when traditions, codes, and roles have the effect of coercing, directing, or restraining
man s impulses can it be said that society is genuinely in existence (Smith, PowerPoint What is
Authority). In other words, authority is essential in order to have a functioning society. Inside of
the church, social integration is high and there are high forms of regulation. The people of the
church are thoroughly involved during service and responds back in unison in response to the
priest commands. Everyone has a role, whether the individual is an usher, altar server, or a
parishioner. In mass, the main authority is the priest, however everyone in the group holds high
expectations, and these expectations is a form of regulation, because if individual resist, then they

Evolutionary Theories Of Human Behavior
Before discussing this question it is important to understand how neurotransmission occurs. Firstly,
the neuron impulse needs to be triggered, dopamine for example can be triggered by something a
human finds pleasurable such as cigarettes or food. After the neuron is triggered it fires the impulse
across the neuron releasing dopaminetransmitters into the synaptic gap. From there, the
neurotransmitterbinds with specific receptor sites to activate the dopamine. Almost immediately
after the human is filled with joy and pleasure. This explains how (especially in addicts) the site of
things can cause pleasure and affect human behavior in a positive way. Contradicting this however
if there is a problem or lack of dopamine, the human will have feelings... Show more content on

Historically disgust would have allowed human ancestors to survive long and produce strong
offspring because they would avoid harmful or rancid food or animals. Because of this, similar
genes would have been passed to the next generation. One case study that represents how disgust
has become an acquired and evolutionary trait that explains human behavior is Fessler (2006). In
this cases study Fessler hypothesized that disgust would help in keeping the potential fetus safe
from harm. In order to best prove this 496 healthy pregnant women from ages 18 to 50 in an

This study discovered that women in their first trimester largely scored higher on the level of
disgust compared to that of women in the second and third trimester. Furthermore, when the study
was controlled more greatly it was found that higher levels of sickness were in response to that of
food. This study helps supports disgust being an evolutionary trait passed on by humans because it
helps young offspring fight potential disease as well as assist in the reproduction of offspring for
having a greater survival chance.Within biological psychology, one of the primary principle states
that there are biological correlates on behavior. By this, there are genetically acquired
behavioral traits such as hormones and neurotransmitters that explains why humans have
particular behaviors. One case study that helps to prove this theory is newcomer et al 1999. In
this study participants were broken up into three groups, group one given the highest amount of
cortisol had tablets that were 160 mg of cortisol for four days. Following this was group two who
were given 40 mg of cortisol for also for 4 days, and lastly group three was given a placebo tablet.

Essay on Love Is a Roller Coaster
Love is a Roller Coaster In our lifetime, one is likely to ride a roller coaster at least once. We also
may experience the feeling of love with someone we consider special. Both, being in love and
riding a roller coaster, will cause a person to feel different emotions, some sad and some joyful. Just
like a roller coasterhas to remain on its tracks in order to function properly, a relationship has to
have boundaries in order to flourish. We look forward to the roller coaster ride and the possibility
of lovewith much excitement, but in the end we have to decide if the ride was worth it. The roller
coaster always seems to be the highlight of all amusement parks. You may not get to do other...

Along with our first love, comes our first heartbreak. Feelings will emerge when we meet
someone who we are attracted to and/or find interesting. These feelings of infatuation can
eventually lead to love. We find ourselves looking forward to seeing that special someone again
and again. Every conversation is meaningful and each time we see him/her, our surroundings
seem like a blur because we are solely focused on him/her. Every slight touch will be thrilling and
tender at the same time. You are anxious while getting ready for the first date. You make sure
you look your best and go over every detail that will help make a good first impression. You re
nervous, but yet so excited to spend some quality time with that person you can t seem to stop
thinking about. In the beginning of any relationship, everything is wonderful. You are getting to
know each other and he/she seems to be more interesting and funnier than you could ve imagined.
But as time goes by, their jokes are no longer as funny. The jokes aren t anything new and they
may even become annoying. Instead of getting to know each other, we may start using terms like I
know you all too well, which is usually an opening line for an argument about to happen.
Unfortunately, relationships end for many different reasons. When a relationship is cut short due to
a decision made by the other person, it hurts us even more. The feelings of rejection and loneliness
will make you not want to see the

Stakeholder Management Plan For Managing Stakeholder
1.MANAGING STAKEHOLDER EXPECTATIONS
1.1.DEFINITION OF A STAKEHOLDER
Before we go in depth into managing stakeholder expectations, we need to know what exactly a
stakeholder means in terms of project management.
Project stakeholders are individuals and organizations that are actively involved in the project, or
whose interests may be affected as a result of project execution or project completion. They may
also exert influence over the project s objectives and outcomes.
1.2.STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT PLAN
In order to manage stakeholder expectations, it is important to follow a well designed plan that can
tell you who are the most important stakeholders in a project and who should be given the most
priority and so on. A few stakeholders... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the qualities that one would look for in a stakeholder are:
Ability to impact the project
Ability to enhance the project
Ability to remove impediments
Ability to lead opinions
Example:
I am currently working on a project which deals with variable annuity dynamic hedging for an
insurance firm, and some of the stakeholders whom we have identified are:
1.Underwriters (Drafting business proposals for the insurer)
2.Insurance agents
3.Zonal managers
4.Regional managers
5.Investment analyst
6.Claims analyst
7.Fraud analyst
1.2.2.ANALYZE STAKEHOLDERS Figure 1: Stakeholder Management Matrix
Figure 1 shows a basic framework that can be used to manage stakeholders based on interest and
influence. In the figure, the power on the Y axis can also be referred to as Influence and the
Interest on the X axis can be referred to as Availability .
There are 4 phases in the stakeholder management matrix :
Manage Closely
Keep Satisfied
Keep Informed
Monitor (minimum effort)
The people who fall in the phase Manage Closely are people who have high influence and high
interest. They are business owners and others with significant decision making authority and power
to kill, sustain or nurture the project.
It is the project manager s responsibility to set up consistent touch points with these stakeholders
and make sure they are happy.

Atlantic Hurricane Case Study
In the late summer of 2004 Florida was ravished by 4 consecutive hurricanes within the span of 44
days. From August 13 until early October, Florida was struck by Hurricanes Charley, Hurricane
Frances, Hurricane Ivan, and Hurricane Jeanne whom all ranged winds of 90mph to 160mph. These
storms left behind costly environmental, structural and social damage. Ripping the roofs off many
homes while dismantling many other homes, those hurricanes changed the way the State of Florida
and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) viewed Atlantic hurricane season.
Evacuating over 8 million residents and business owners and incurring over $35 billion in disaster
recovery funds, government officials began to seek out different approaches to creating... Show

This is not what the source says. This trend of unpredictability some meteorologist would say began
back in 1992 with Hurricane Andrew. This did not come from McCarty. Hurricane Andrew, a
category 5 hurricane enlightened Florida residents, government officials and meteorologist of the
pure potential hurricanes offer. The hurricane ripped through Florida with winds up to 160 mph and
caused 26.5 billion in damage alone. Andrew even though 12 years prior to the Hurricane season of
2004 exhibited arbitrary pathways and sudden increases in energy. Some meteorologists took note
of the unpredictable nature of Atlantic hurricanes and were able to rationalize major hurricane
occur on cycles. These cycles were whether still unpredictable than desired and should have created
a sense of urgency towards preparing Florida for another disastrous hurricane season. Initially when
first signs of Hurricane Charley first surfaced many media representatives and meteorologists
predicted the hurricane to not make landfall in Florida. The hurricane was projected to stay within
the Atlantic Ocean and only cause minor storms and constant rain on the Eastern Seaboard. Friday,
August 12, Hurricane Charley set his eyes on the coast of Florida. Although the media broadcasted
up to date information concerning the hurricane s movement and growth, residents considered the
storm not to be a threat based on weather predictions. Once Charley dismayed after leaving behind
costly damages, the media begin to find different reasoning for the sporadic path change that
Charley had shown. Most reports wanted to contribute weather patterns to ocean water warming
called El Nino The source does not mention anything about El Nino. Whether the assumptions were
correct or not, it had become noticeable to the public that the media was having trouble providing
accurate weather predictions.

Define the terms Conservative, Liberal and Marxist History...
History has been understood differently by different people. While some have understood it as the
study of the past events, others have defined it as a record of human actions which have occurred in
the past.1 However the variety of definitions, it should be pointed out that history does not
constitute everything that happened in the past. Only those past activities which have had a bearing
on the present are what may qualify to be worth history.2 Just as there are many definitions of
history, so are there many branches of history. This essay is meant to define and illustrate the
importance of three of the braches of history. These include Conservative, Liberal and Marxist
History. The essay is organized in two parts. The first part will... Show more content on

According to him, these struggles are perpetuated by the state and economic conditions such as
capitalism which produces oppressed classes. He contended that capitalists will destroy engage in
brutal competitive struggles with each other, thereby giving an opportunity to the exploited
laboring classes to rise up against capitalism and overthrow it so that they replace it with
communism. In communism, there would be no classes and economic benefits would be shared
equitably.8
Marxist History is therefore, that interpretation of history on the basis of not only social and
political factors but also economic factors. Marxist historians asserted that poverty and diseases
of the poor people are as a result of social classes and conditions under which peasants lived and
worked.9 The base of man s problems was to be found in the division of society into classes.
Therefore, in order building a society with no exploitation is only dependant on the forceful
removal of the capitalist system. At the centre of radical history is the argument that the historical
analysis of man s progress and development is meaningless unless that analysis puts into
consideration the economic and social relations aspect.10 This is unlike liberal history which only
emphasizes the social and political factors in the analysis of man s development.
So far, it is clear that Marxist History differs considerably from the other

Similarities Between Hinduism And Hinduism
Two pieces of art that I found interesting were Shiva, Uma, and Their Son Skanda and Shiva as
Lord of Dance. These are two completely different pieces of art but they have similarities that are
worth acknowledging. Both of these pieces derive from India during the same time period, made
with the same materials, and both fall under the religions of Hinduism. Not only do the details of
the pieces help explain the art, but so does the culture and the religion practiced at the time the
piece was made.
Hinduism is a major religion in India that is practiced by almost everyone. This is where they
believe in one supreme being that has many different aspects. People who don t understand
Hinduism commonly mistake it with Buddhism due to the fact they share similar beliefs. Hinduism
has the most affect on the culture and artwork because it is commonly practiced in India. In
Hinduism there are three main gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Since these pieces of art stem
from India, its important to understand the religions that they practiced. Hinduism is the oldest
religion on earth, originating from the Indus valley civilization. Hinduism is based off of the
Vedas that acts as a guideline for the way Hindu s should live. Hindu s do not only see Hinduism
as a religion, but a way of life. They use five elements to shape their religious tradition. Doctrine,
practice, society, story, and devotion. People who practice Hinduism follow their way of life
strictly, and usually refuse to

  • 2. Military Recruitment Process Essay The process by which an organization locates and attract individuals to fill job vacancies is known as recruitment. I recall how military recruiters try to get individuals to join the military and the reason why some, like myself, choose to join and others did not. Both the organization and the candidate seek to attract the other with their best foot forward, the Organization seeking to secure a candidate that is highly qualified and be beneficial to the success of the organization and on the other hand the candidate, who is trying to convince the recruiter he or she is the best person for the job. During this process, however the objective of the organization and the candidate may conflict since part of the of recruiting process is evaluating a candidate s strengths and weakness but the candidate may only present his or her strengths. On the other hand, the candidate may not get all the information from the organization since only the appealing stuff may be revealed. The end goal for the organization is to hire someone that is not only qualified for the job, but someone that will also stay with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. The Enlightenment Period Americans in the Enlightenment period strongly connected themselves with the classical age in terms of how they approached their art. The Enlightenment period lasted for about 150 years, from approximately 1700 1850. Throughout this time period many artists took inspiration from the classical age which occurred in ancient Greece and Rome hundreds of years before. We can see examples of this in buildings like The White houseand Monticello in America, and Kedleston Hall in England. These three buildings, though located in very different parts of the world, all have a number of aestheticly similar attributes. The Enlightenment age was very much an intellectual movement that grew from interrelating the theories of science, the environment and the human race (Enlightenment, 2015, para 1). The origins of this movement came from ideas that date back to the Renaissance period in the 14th century. Science became a big part of this period as people now did not just rely on the bible, they began to be inquisitive about the world around them, thus the dividing of science and religion occurred. Scientists began to ask questions about the environment around them, soon people wanted proof and reasoning, not just thoughts and ideas. Another successful idea of that time was that philosophers began to rethink the role of God and the effects on human life. People still believed in God, but the significance of religion and the role that God played in peoples daily life was not as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most take for granted the Bible they have and never question how it came into being. Today, we have 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament. There was a time, however, that we did not have a canon. Bruce defines canon as books of the Biblethat were recognized to be considered scripture (p. 17). The importance of the canon and how it was developed was intriguing to professor and author F.F. Bruce. The rest of the section demonstrates the Church Fathers and their views of what was to be considered scripture and the councils that affirmed the inspired scripture. Bruce concludes by explaining the criteria used for writings to be considered canon. He goes into more depth on the inspiration of the scriptures an integral part of how the canon came together. The close of the book is appended by two lectures that explore the secret gospel of Mark and the Primary Sense and Plenary Sense of scripture. Bruce shows the importance of the Old Testament scriptures, but writes most about the New Testament. • 17. Airway Assesment Of The Difficult Airway Before Manipulation CHAPTER III AIRWAY ASSESMENT IN TRAUMA PATIENTS Identification of the difficult airway before manipulation is the Holy Grail of clinical management. It is the first step in preparing for patient care. Selection of airway devices, techniques, and procedures all pivot on airway evaluation (Carin, 2008). Preoperative examination of the airway is essential. Identification of patients with a potentially difficult airway before anesthesia allows time to plan an appropriate anesthetic technique. Previous anesthetic records should always be consulted. However, a past record of normal tracheal intubation is no guarantee against difficulty on subsequent occasions as airway anatomy can be altered as in trauma affecting the airway. The presence of stridor or hoarse voice is warning sign for the anesthetist. As it is impossible to identify all patients with a difficult airway during preoperative assessment, the anesthetist must be prepared to manage the unexpected difficult laryngoscopy (Alan et al,. 2001). пѓ Historical Indicators of Airway Difficulty: The intent of obtaining an airway history is to elicit previously known factors indicating that airway management has been (and likely will be) difficult. The purpose of the Constitution is to be the law of the land, therefore, it establishes and maintains order for that provides a guiding hand for citizens (Spitzer, 1998). Laws banning firearms would only be followed by the law abiding. Citizens living in the United States have had access to guns since the beginning when they were used to hunt and gather food and as a mean of protection. The armoire s you purchase are very nice, but you ll have a one of a kind pieceof furniture if you build your own. Follow the directions below to do just that. The easiest way to create the wooden armoire of your choice is to draw it out on a piece of paper. If you ve never built any furniture before it may be easiest to draw simple squares and rectangles. Don t start out with a lot of complicated shapes and designs. A few sheets of paper, a ruler and a pencil will get you going. Make a plan on separate sheets of paper for each side, front and back. You ll of course wantto be sure to label what each sheet is. You ll want to measure the area where you decide to locate your armoire. It s a good idea to know what you ll be using the armoire for; this makes location a little simpler. If it s to be used for TV entertainment, place it so people won t have to struggle to watch it. If you intend to use it for home office, you ll want it in a kind of out of the way area or your office. This extract, which describes Jay Gatsby s extravagant party is a microcosm of the type of seductive and exciting lifestyle that was lived by those eager to fulfil the American dream in the 1920 s. It shows how the original dream of happiness, individualism and prosperity has disintegrated into the mere pursuit of wealth. Fitzgerald himself experienced this type of society and uses symbolism in this extract to represent his conflicting feelings about the Jazz age and create a typical setting of this kind of society. TodayВґs business can share information to investors around the world thanks to the intelligent software of the actual society. Being more specific, the way in which investors and users evaluate businesses performance is through the information contemplated in their financial statements. These financial statements illustrate the current assets, liabilities, and stockholder equity a company has in order to help users take economic decisions. However, not all the companies are regulated to provide the same structuralized information around the world. Each country possesses its own accounting standard that regulates the preparation of financial statements of a company. In that way, companies information might differ between countries making the comparability between financial statements difficult to be implemented by users in order to assess the performance of foreign businesses. In view of the need of a globally accepted accounting standard that promotes uniform standards for worldwide financial reporting, the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC), which then becomes replaced by the International Accounting Standard Board in 2001, was created (Cathey and Schroeder 130). It may seem, too, at first glance, that Dee s mother and sister, Maggie, in their tin roof house and shabby clothing, are of little or no worth in Everyday Use. The story ironically shows, under more careful thought, that the very outer characteristics which deem Dee the more valuable character are the ones which prove that the mother and Maggie have the more powerful inner worth. With close examination, the camera, which represents Dee s material wealth, can also be used to prove her inability to see people, places and things for what and who they really are. By far the most striking piece of evidence supporting Dee s lack of inner value is her desire to have the quilts. At first, Dee s anger over being denied the quilts seems justified. Dee claims that she would preserve the quilts and Hang them (1154). Yet, the real purpose of possessing the quilts, as seen on a larger scope, is to use the old quilts for the simple life the mother and Maggie lead. To actually put the quilts to everyday use, as Maggie will do, is symbolically preserving the family heritage. Dee s cry that Maggie would probably be backward enough to put them to everyday use (1154) portrays Dee as the materialistic, backward character. Just as the argument over the quilts shows Dee as intrinsically immature, it directly points out that the mother and Dee have, in fact, great value within them. Dee s mother, for instance, is at first silent to Dee s demands to have the butter churn and wooden benches. When Dee takes the quilts, previously promised to Maggie, the mother then becomes defensive. The mother questions Dee s intended use of the quilts in an effort to deter Dee from her insistence of owning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

P407 Terrorism The existing and evolving threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction Joshua Garrison 11/24/2014 To understand the threat that is posed by weapons of mass destruction (WMD), what defines a WMD must first be understood. The definition and use of WMD is covered by 18 U.S. Code В§ 2332a Use of weapons of mass destruction. The term weapon of mass destruction is defined as any destructive device that is further defined under section 921. Under section 921, a destructive device is anything that has explosive, incendiary, or poison gas properties. 18 U.S. Code В§ 2332a Use of weapons of mass destruction expands further by defining a WMD as any type of weapon that is designed to cause death or serious injury by release, dissemination, or impact by nuclear, biological, or chemical means. The legal code also covers weapons that release dangerous levels of radiation. Under FBI guidelines, the term WMD is used to describe a collection of modalities that include: chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive and is over referred to as CBRNE. There are a couple of sayings about terrorism: the first is that terrorism is a weapon of the weak and that terrorist want a lot of people watching, not dead . If these saying are true, then the threat or risks of terrorist using a WMD would be fairly low. Weber would consider the priest in this situation a traditional authority figure because he is respected because of the people s belief in the catholic religion. He is also legitimate because the priest has been through seminary school and has contractually established his legitimacythrough completion of the program which gives rise to rational legal authority. Without authority, man has no sense of duty, only when traditions, codes, and roles have the effect of coercing, directing, or restraining man s impulses can it be said that society is genuinely in existence (Smith, PowerPoint What is Authority). In other words, authority is essential in order to have a functioning society. Inside of the church, social integration is high and there are high forms of regulation. The people of the church are thoroughly involved during service and responds back in unison in response to the priest commands. Firstly, the neuron impulse needs to be triggered, dopamine for example can be triggered by something a human finds pleasurable such as cigarettes or food. After the neuron is triggered it fires the impulse across the neuron releasing dopaminetransmitters into the synaptic gap. From there, the neurotransmitterbinds with specific receptor sites to activate the dopamine. Almost immediately after the human is filled with joy and pleasure. Because of this, similar genes would have been passed to the next generation. One case study that represents how disgust has become an acquired and evolutionary trait that explains human behavior is Fessler (2006). In this cases study Fessler hypothesized that disgust would help in keeping the potential fetus safe from harm. In order to best prove this 496 healthy pregnant women from ages 18 to 50 in an online survey were given different images and asked to rank them on the scale system of disgust. This study discovered that women in their first trimester largely scored higher on the level of disgust compared to that of women in the second and third trimester. Furthermore, when the study was controlled more greatly it was found that higher levels of sickness were in response to that of food.
