Kristen would be working 67% of the 240 minutes during a 4 hour shift and her roommate would be
working 33% of the time. In a 4 hour shift, if every order was for 2 dozen cookies, Kristen would be
working 100 minutes (10 minutes for every 2 dozen * 10 batches of 2 dozen) but her roommate would
be working 70 minutes (7 minutes * 10 batches of 2 dozen). Kristen would be working 42% of the 240
minutes during a 4 hour shift while the roommate worked 29%. In a 4 hour shift, if every order was
for 3 dozen cookies (and presuming they were running at maximum capacity with no cushion and the
total orders for the evening was 7 orders of 3 dozen cookies or 21 dozen cookies), Kristen would be
working 84 minutes (12 minutes * 7 batches of 3 dozen) while her roommate still worked only 70
minutes (10 minutes * 7 batches of 3 dozen). Under this final scenario, Kristen would be working 35%
of the 240 minutes during a 4 hour shift while her roommate still worked 29% of the time period. This
is the only scenario that begins to show closer parity between the amount of labor spent by each
individual on this business venture. Assuming you are not at capacity, what type and how much of a

Valley Of Ashes In The Great Gatsby
In F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, the valley of ashes, an industrial wasteland between West
Egg and Manhattan, is a solemn dumping ground, (24) characterized by its imagery of dust and ash
gray men (25). Above all, the decrepit billboard of the defunct oculist Dr. T.J. Eckleburg watches over
the gray landscape where George and Myrtle Wilson live above their dusty garage. George Wilson, a
poor resident of the valley of ashes, physically blends into his surroundings, mingling immediately
with the cement color of the walls, (26) making him the human embodiment of the valley. Next to the
valley is West Egg, home to those with new money, like Jay Gatsby. Gatsby s life is the idyllic picture
of the new world in the roaring twenties, where every person has an equal opportunity for success
through hard work and tenacity. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The valley of ashes, and subsequently George Wilson, are emblematic of the fallacies of the new
world. The new world is material without being real, (161) indicating that it is consumerist and
distorted. Myrtle Wilson is very materialistic; she complains about George wearing a borrowed suit to
their wedding and makes lists of what she wants to buy. Myrtle is also the only part of the valley of
ashes that is not dusty, a stark contrast to her husband. Unlike George, she has the potential to better
her status as she is the mistress of Tom Buchanan, a rich white man from East Egg. However, when

The person whom invented Jazz was born in uptown New Orleans on September 6, 1877 to Alice and
Westmore Bolden. Charles Buddy Bolden grew up in one of the most musically rich cities in all of the
United States during the time, and it would have great influence in his life. As a young man, Buddy
made money as a barber, however his heart was truly in his music. The cornet was his instrument, and
he could play like nobody else. He was famously known as The King because of how well he played
the cornet, as well as his public demand and popularity. Buddy s playing married all of the
contemporary popular styles of music, creating something never before heard, Jazz. Jazz music

The Political Motivations For English Imperialism
1. The political motivations for English imperialism were made on country that is craving to succeed
in power, to increase their land, to have an armed force, to achieve respect by captivating colonies,
and increase pride and security countrywide. The Pilgrims left England to North America because they
were seeking freedom from religious oppression from King James I. Even though most of them died
during the cross over, the few that made it settle very quickly with the help of the Native Americans.
These groups of people were very religious and wanted to keep their faith alive. Their leaders in
England did not tolerate it so they decide to leave England to a place where can freely express their
religion. (U.S History, 2008 2016) 2. The social pressures that contributed to English colonization of
North America are the fact that the population in England doubled. There were to many mouths to
feed and very little food, clothing and other goods that led to inflation. Since there were so many
people looking for job the wages fell drastically which led the laborers in poverty. Landowners raised
their rents, apprehended the lands where the peasants occupied commonly which resulted on them
being homeless and landless. So they had no choice but to live in the streets. The officials finally
realize that them leaving to North America would alleviate the surplus of population in England. So
that is why they migrated to North America to improve their circumstances. (Norton, 2015)

Exploration Of Exploitation During The 1970 s Generation
Exploration of Exploitation During the 1970 s Generation
The 70 s decade represented a very experimental and uncertain time for the film Industry. Due to
financial instability, the Hollywood studio system had collapsed. The invention of the television too
had a disastrous effect on audiences attending movie theaters as many people were inclined to stay at
home because they had children and did not want to pay for a movie and a baby sitter. Artistic
freedom was on the rise though due to a dramatic change in censorship regulation the abandonment of
the Production Code and the decreased clout of the Catholic Legion of Decency. The Production Code
was a set of moral guidelines for the film industry that existed from 1930 to 1966. It also ... Show

looking for something that is sensational and graphic. Many of these teens were attracted to a
counterculture that represented a broken society. Many urban youths found films like these in

The 70 s were basically the golden age of Grindhouses as the venues were a result of the prevalent
white flight out of major cities and into suburban neighborhoods. The effect of this was Urban decay.
With the no longer guarantee of customers, many of these theaters showed B grade films, including
pornography, martial arts, slashers, and blaxploitation film.
In the 1970s Hollywood studios recognized the value of the exploitation cinema that were associated
with low budget companies like American International Pictures of the 1950s and 1960s. Many films
such as William Friedkin s The Exorcist (1973) and Steven Spielberg s Jaws (1975) are known for
having rewriting what makes a sensational horror. Further, exploitation was a term applied to specific
audiences as well as films. Melvin Van Peebles Sweet Sweetback s Baadassss Song(1971) drew the
attention of the industry to the profit potential represented by black urban audiences and gave rise to
the blaxploitation cycle of films. The same term can be used for pornography movies as

Petri Dish Lab
Post Lab Questions:
In which petri dish did you observe the highest hatching viability? Did the results support your
prediction in Pre Laboratory Question #2?
The petri dish with the highest hatching viability was the 1.0% dish. No, the results did not support my
prediction in the pre laboratory question #2. My prediction did not match the results because in the
1.5% petri dish it showed a lower hatching viability compared to the 1.0% petri dish. After, the results
came out it was proven that the best NaCl solution for the brine shrimp was the 1.0 petri dish because
it wasn t too concentrated and it wasnt too little.
Explain, in terms of natural selection, why one saline solution yielded the highest hatching viability of
brine shrimp.
Natural selection is the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive
and produce more offspring. One saline solution yielded the highest hatching viability because only
one of the solutions was suitable for the brine shrimps and they were able to adapt to that place. The

One of the limitation was that the experiment was unable to simulate the effects of predation. In an
actual environment some of the brine shrimp eggs could have been eaten before they are able to hatch,
but since this was in a petri dish there was no such thing as predators that have reduced the hatching
viability of the brine shrimp eggs. Another, limitation was the exact amount of brine shrimps you
could brush up. This made the hatching viability to not be as accurate because there was different
amount of eggs to start with. If there was an equal amount of eggs to begin with the hatching viability
percentage would have been more accurate since they all started the same. These two limitations made
the experiment not as reasonable because it stopped what could have happen to these brine shrimps in

The Public Education System As we know that the examination system has come to be the main theme
of modern education. Every one from his early child hood should take endless examinations and
succeed in passing them, before he could graduate from a college or university. As much importance
has been attached to it in school education, it has been subjected to mounting criticism as to its
validity. People in favor of it praise this system to great extent; and those oppos ing to it maintain that

Let s clarify some things first. Take Thomas Edison and Marie Curie for instance. Edison stayed at
school for only three months when he was young. Because he always asked strange questions that his
teachers thought he was a fool. So they sent him away from school. Little poor Tom had to teach
himself to learn. But he made more than 2,000 inventions years later. Marie Curie went to Paris to
study when she was young. She got first degree in Physics after two years arriving in Paris. Then she
dis covered Radium and Polonium. And she was given two Nobel Prizes for her determination. She
was the first woman who got two Nobel Prizes during that time. Today she is remembered and
admired not only as a famous scientist, but also for her determina tion and courage, her willingness to
share her knowledge with the whole scientific world, her interest in woman s rights, and her medical
service during the war. Did they succeed because of hav ing no exam system? No, absolutely not! First
of all, they had a great interest in learning. And then, they work very hard toward this purpose. That is
what I firmly believe. There are many more great people like this, such as Hua Luogeng, Chen
Jingrun, etc.
From what I listed above, it should be clear that it was not the exam system that makes people
successful. It is not, and it will not be. It depends on one s mind. Lastly, I have noticed a

The United States And The Constitution
In any society, the first thing that must be determined is from where the power to govern comes. No
matter what form government takes, one thing remains constant; no person or group can govern
without the will and consent of the people. This goes for despotic mad men and duly elected officers
of a free electorate. If those who rule must command the will of those they lead, it must then follow
that all executive power flows not from nobility, birthright, or wealth, but from the people themselves.
It is this very principle, that any government was given authority and legitimacy from its subjects, that
the United States government is based on, namely the Constitution. Taking their cue from the federal
government, the states Nevada ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drawing on the British parliament, Greek democracy, Roman republic, and even the Native American
confederations, The Constitution of the United States was completed on September 17, 1787 and
ratified seven months later. The U.S. Constitution has 4,400 words. It is the shortest written
Constitution of any major government in the world; However, if this is the document that all law in
America is based then why is it so short? Because those founding fathers that had opposed centralized
government wanted to have a document that expressly explained the duties, powers, and
responsibilities of the new government. This truly was written as a rulebook for the government
naming each and every rule that the people of the former colonies wanted the central government to
abide by. Since the people wished this central government to have little power, the document is
understandably short. In fact, the length of this document has only increased when it has been
necessary to further curtail government s power and increase civil liberties, prohibition being the only
exception; however with its repeal this can be considered a wash. In juxtaposition, the Nevada State
Constitution is 16,543 words long; almost four times as long as the U.S. Constitution. At first, many
may find that the only explanation for the increased length is pretentious verbosity; however there are
numerous reasons for this increased length and most have to do with

The World Of Sports Arenas
Introduction
In the world of sports arenas there is one that stands as a pivotal high point above almost all other
stadiums. The University of Southern California s mammoth of a stadium, the Los Angeles Memorial
Coliseum is one of the biggest sports stadiums in college football, and has been a standard by which
others are judge. Being declared a land mark by the state of California after nearly 80 years of use, this
structure has had many different uses other than its current purpose of housing one of the most
dominate teams in college football, the Trojans. Since its opening day the stadium has set world record
in attendance and then beaten the same records hosting some of the most famous people in the world.
(Coliseum History) Throughout the 92 years of the stadiums existences many changes have taken
place and the facility has had to adapt to the new century. Advances in construction and design have
allowed the Trojans to stay current and competitive with the new stadiums. One thing remains, and
that is the fact that USC Trojan fans love the unique feel and history that has been made throughout
the walls of the stadium.
History of facility Erected in 1923 the Trojans did not waste time until the first footballs game was
played. On October 6th the team faced off against Pomona College finding their first home victory in
the new stadium. In the first opening game the Trojans played in front of a 12,836 people which was a
relatively small number of people considering they

Telemachus Reflection
Through his journey to Pylos and Sparta, Telemachus, who was born into a very privileged and high
ranking family, learns how to use his inherited social status and connections for his own interests,
which will help him mature into manhood. Telemachus was never old enough to remember what it
was like when his father was around. Since Odysseus left, he has lived with his mom and nurse.
However, for three years, he has been overwhelmed by suitors, who have taken over his house.
Odysseus was never able to show Telemachus how to stand up for himself. Telemachus has been less
than passive when going about doing things to get what he wants. When Athena comes and tells him
that his father is going to come home, he realizes he has been ignoring what he knows is wrong, such
as the suitors throwing parties every night, and that he needs to stop them. He doesn t have any idea of
how he is going to find his father when Athena comes, but he along his way finds that he has many
resources and connections at hand that will allow him to find out what happened to his dad. Athena,
disguised as Mentor, an old friend of Odysseus, encourages Telemachus to talk to Nestor. Telemachus,
no more shyness, this is not the time!/ We sailed the seas for this, for news of your father // So go right
up to Nestor...// Press him yourself to tell the whole truth:/ he ll never lie the man is far too wise (3.16
22) Here, Athena is encouraging Telemachus to be assertive, to get what the needs to know to find his
father. Telemachus responds, How can I greet him, Mentor, even approach the king?/ I m hardly adept
at subtle conversation./ Someone my age might feel shy, what s more,/ interrogating an older man. /
(3.23 27) He is intimidated. The irony is that he himself is of the higher class, and if Odysseus had
been home, he would be accustomed to these interactions. This is Odysseus learning that he has high
social status and can enjoy the privileges he was born with, such as being able to talk to the king.
While there, Telemachus learns of the fate of the family of Agamemnon. Agamemnon came home to
find his wife in love with Aegisthus, and together they kill him. Orestes, one of Agamemnon s sons,
avenges his father s murder and kills

Myrtle Wilson The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is often seen as the book that best illustrates the Roaring 1920s and offers insight
into the new freedom, along side the new challenges women faced during this revolutionary time.
Published in 1924, The Great Gatsby was written during the height of the flapper era, and the main
female characters are reflective of the social change. The 1920s, commonly depicted as a time of great
wealth and freedom in America, created many changes for women. The right to vote was granted in
1919, and many women had experienced some degree of financial independence during World War I
by working in previously male dominated industries. The loosening of social mores after the war

She is seen as disposable because Gatsby seemingly does not care that he and Daisy accidently killed
her; instead he is focused on Daisy and her state of mind, leaving Myrtle merely as collateral damage.
She is also seen as property through her relationship with Tom. Fitzgerald describes her as someone
who carried her surplus flesh sensuously as some women can, even though her face contained no facet
or gleam of beauty, but there was an immediately perceptible vitality about her as if the nerves of her
body were continually smouldering (Fitzgerald 25). In other words, even though she is described as
vulgar and cheap, she is also able to give off life and vibrance. Fitzgerald describes her as someone
who does not embody the typical physicalities a woman with status usually has. Myrtle desires
desperately to do much more in the world than just be a wife to a poor car salesman, and wants to
move up and have her status respected. However, she is not able to achieve that, except by being Tom
s mistress, who often gives off the impression that she is not that important to him. When Tom and
Myrtle fight over Myrtle s right to say Daisy s name, Tom slaps her, making a short deft movement,
Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand ( Fitzgerald 37). Fitzgerald s description of the hit
makes it seem like Tom did not put any effort into it; by explaining it as a short, simple hit that lacks
intensity exemplifies that Myrtle is not deserving of Tom s outright effort. Additionally, he is casually
violent with her because he isn t afraid that she will leave him, or does not seem to care. Myrtle is
constantly stepped over and over looked, proving her place in the traditional era, while other women
were beginning to embrace a new, self assuritive

Marian s Identity In Edible Women By Margaret Atwood
The novel Edible Women, by Margaret Atwood, is a piece of literature that describes the women s role
in the 1960s. The book centers around a woman named Marian McAlpin, who faces problems in her
relationship. Marian gets engaged to Peter, who is narcissistic and controlling. She notices that ever
since she has gotten engaged, she is starting to lose her appetite. This essay will seek to prove that
food is a symbol of Marian s identity.
The novel introduces the readers to Marian, a well educated woman, who works in Seymour Surveys,
a market research company. She lives in an apartment with Ainsley, a free spirited woman. Marian is
engaged to a self obsessed man names Peter, a lawyer, who is only using her as an accessory. He was
treating me as a stage prop; silent but solid, a two dimensional outline (Atwood 72). Ever since her

The second example is when Marian stops consuming certain foods. Well, she said, there are a lot of
things I can t eat; I mean, I haven t been eating them lately. Meat, for instance, and eggs and certain
vegetables (208). As Marian stops consuming certain foods, she is also letting Peter make important

Literary And Cultural Theory During The Modern And...
Theories investigating subjectivity have dominated the field of literary and cultural theory during the
modern and postmodern period. The way we understand subjectivity effects the way we understand
the world around us, whether the subject is viewed in the Cartesian manner as a fixed entity, with a pre
existing nature that is not affected by the discourses that surround the it, or if we view the subject as
one produced in and through the forces of power available in the time period, whether they be
political, social or linguistic. The dominant model of understanding the subject up till the 20th century
has been the model provided by Descartes, one where the self is understood as being independent and
unsupported, where it is considered a private and autonomous experience deriving meaning and
substance on its own without the assistance or influence of external factors. According to Descartes
true self knowledge cannot rely on the contingent and fallible perceptual ideas that are not essential to
one s true self. During the age of Enlightenment reason and empirical knowledge were foregrounded,
and were focused upon as the most important factors in understanding the world, consequently the
individual was also emphasized as the creator of meaning. Human beings were understood as being
born with great potential, and a stable, true self that if given the right to its unrestrained expression,
could flourish and achieve anything.
Heidegger was one of the first thinkers to

If protein deficiency is continued, this could lead to muscle deterioration, digestive problems and
severe weight loss. Eating too few carbohydrates can cause the body to find another source for energy,
such as protein which is needed for energy and muscle tissue. Additionally, carbohydrates are the
primary source for glucose that is needed for the brain to function properly. Consuming to few lipids
does not provide the necessary energy needed for the body, which decrease metabolism and hormone
production.
Fiber Intake Ranges
The fiber intakes meet the recommendation calculated by I Profile. Since the recommendation was
met, I believe that the fiber intake was just right. However, I do not believe that my diet met the
minimum number of servings of food from each of the fiber containing groups. I believe that the both
groups for fruits and vegetables fell short of the minimum number of servings. The specific foods that
provided the most fiber were pasta, and a bagel. Whereas, the foods that provided the least were the
BBQ chips, Croissant, sausage. It appears that the trend in my food choices is that there are not
enough fruits and vegetables, which affects my fiber intake.
Dietary Modifications
The identifiable patterns are that there is not enough consumption of balanced food choices, not eating
regularly and that processed food is selected more often.

Bajaj Auto shareholders would continue to hold one share of the company with face value of Rs 10

Protests On College Campuses
Protests over racial issues spread to more US campuses
Protests against racial insensitivity that began at the University of Missouri last week have escalated to
mass student teacher walkouts, resulting in the resignation of the university s president Tim Wolfe.
Since this announcement, two other US campuses have staged walkouts and organized rallies to call
attention to their own university issues regarding race. Specifically, rallies were held on Wednesday at
Ithaca College in New York and Smith College in Massachusetts. Following the University of
Missouri s removal of their president, an interim president has been appointed, Mr. Michael Middleton
another administrator who is of African American race. As news of this new appointment spread,
Ithaca College has also made calls for a change in leadership, with students chanting, Tom Rochon no

Continuing this week, protests were also held at Yale University in Connecticut after administrators
sent out a mass email advising students about wearing offensive Halloween costumes. After a number
of professors also gave their opinions on the subject and received backlash, the email set off a debate
about free speech and cultural sensitivity on the campus. Another 20 colleges from across the nation
have started planning solidarity protests for this coming week.
The hierarchical diffusion of racial injustice on college campuses has spread quickly within the past

History Paper Burial Practices, Concept of After Life...
The concept of afterlife existed among many ancient civilizations. It was met as a way of
understanding the present or as a way to predict the future depending on their needs. As such, in order
to explain the unknown phenomenon that impacted their daily life, early tribes saw natural events as
simple as the rain and the winds or birth and death and regarded them to be controlled by supernatural
powers related to the gods, demons, the moon, the sun or other external driving forces. Ancient people
sought protection for survival and power to maintain order with the tribes by practicing rituals which
were aimed to invoke the spirit of the deceased. However, as civilizations evolved with time, their
beliefs became more complex and profound. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the suffering in the other world would end eventually. Romans funeral rituals usually
included washing the corpse, laying it flat on a sofa or bed, and dressing it with the finest clothes that
individual had ever possessed. A coin would then be placed under the tongue or on the eyes so that he
could pay the ferryman Charon for rowing him to the land of the dead.
The marble urn I observed at the Met dated from mid 1st 2nd century A.D. was used to place the ashes
of the deceased after the body was cremated. As time went by, they came to understand that the
dissolution of the body was inevitable and the physical body was only a temporary host of the soul.
This piece of artifact provided evidence that in ancient Romans point of view, the remains of the
physical body had to be disintegrated in order for the soul to begin a new life. It is reasonable to
conclude that Romans regarded cremating the body of the dead as a naturally faster way to begin the
life in the other world than slow disintegration of the corpse.
On the other hand, Egyptians believed that the person s physical body was more than a temporary host
and it had to remain intact, a condition necessary to attain the afterlife. Moreover, they contemplated
the idea that a person was the combination of several elements such as, the ba , which was the non
physical part of the individual and the ka which was a universal force shared by all.

School Structure And Family Influences
Education never really seemed to be priority in my hometown. Fresno, the 5th largest city in
California, is listed as the 8th least literate city in the US. I grew up in a part of town where less than
75% of the residents age 25 and over received a high school diploma; less than 13% earned a Bachelor
s degree; and only 3% have a graduate or professional degree. It s surprising that I even made it to
graduate school after reading statistics like these. My objective is to reflect on my school experience,
and explore how culture, school structure and family influences contributed to my successful
completion of grades K 16, even when the odds were not in my favor.
I came from a working class family of six whose ethnicity was mixed my father, White and my
mother, Hispanic. My siblings and I all went to Slater Elementary School from Kindergarten to 6th
grade. The school was less than a mile from my home, and the community was made up mostly of
working and lower middle class families. The ethnic distribution of my neighborhood was 53.8%
Hispanic, 28.2% White, 9.3% Black, 5.5% Asian, and 2% mixed race. Coming from a mixed race
family had its own challenges. In addition to being a cultural outlier in the community, I was always
confused about who I was ethnically, and was forced to choose which one identified with more (White
or Hispanic) on standardized tests, or when participating with play groups.

High School Reflection Essay
Have you ever just felt like high school was too easy? Well I have because I felt like the teachers just
passed you on. They didn t give me a challenge like I was supposed to have and from that being, now
I have to prepare myself for the college life and teach myself the things I was supposed to be taught in
high school. The school I came from didn t have a math teacher or a history teacher all year so we just
sat in the class rooms and played everyday all day and I still ended up passing and that school was
Albany Early College. They told me that I would finish high school with an associate degree but all I
got was a discombobulated school and an uncontrolled school. The next school I went to didn t care
either. They showed me that I can skip class everyday and still pass with an A average. Despite all the
things I didn t get taught in high school, I did learn some unique aspects that I can reflect on and use
for college. The skills I reflect on are annotating, using the Cornell note taking system, and how to be
on time for school.
To begin with, the first aspect I reflect on from high school is annotating. Annotating helped me a lot
when I was taking final exams and other test. This is one of the most I reflect on because I can use this
skill to help me in college. I first learned how to annotate in the 11th grade when I was at Monroe
Comprehensive High School. The way my teacher showed me how to annotate was to number the
paragraphs then summarize the paragraphs individually, after doing that it helped me understand the
passage better as if it was hard to comprehend. My teacher also told me to underline any sentences
that look interesting to me and circle any words that I am not familiar with and go and look them up
after I was done. But you don t just annotate and be done, but you have to go back and study what you
annotated so you can get a full understanding of whatever you re annotating. Annotating is a big skill
that I was taught because I can use it in other subjects other than English such as: History, Science,
and other classes, but I can t annotate the same way in every subject. For example: If I annotate math
the same way I do in History then my notes would be messed up because I am learning two

Other politicians have made poverty alleviation top priority, but the pro poor discourse of Duterte s
competitors such as those of Mayor Binay and Mar Roxas fell on deaf ears as voters had by that time
grown weary of false promises. These people wanted something different and in Duterte they saw an
outsider, like them, trying to make way in a world dominated by elites. During the 6 year period
before his presidency the Philippines experienced a major economic boom that vanquished its title as
the sick man of Asia. From 2011 to 2016, Aquino s term, the Philippines was consistently the fastest
growing economy in Southeast Asia. Republic of the Philippines sovereign bonds reached investment
grade status. The peso appreciated and held steady at PHP44 to one USD. These gains unfortunately
did not translate into a change in per capita among the poor. A Huffington Post article in evaluating
Aquino s record says that The incidence of poverty remains virtually unchanged at 25 percent since
2009 as has the unemployment rate, which has remained in the 6 7 percent range. This skewed
economic progress played directly into Duterte s hands. He capitalized on this frustration, cultivated it,
and gave it roots. In a speech in Los Baňos Duterte said I m really disgusted the way government is

Reggio Emilia approach is a curriculum that emerges from the children s ideas, thoughts and

NO Spiritual Reward for Depriving the Physical Body
There is NO Spiritual Reward for Depriving the Physical Body of Comfort or Pleasure
I. Doctrine
There is a great falsehood that is perpetuated by the modern church, and it is one that threatens the
very mission assigned to every believer in Matthew 28:18 20. Before one can address this falsehood,
one must understand the duty of God s people in this life. It is the believer s task to go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them as God ordained, and teaching them how to obey the teachings
of Jesus. What then are the teachings of Jesus? As believers, we hold as doctrine that God the Father,
along with the Holy Spirit and the Son created all that is. He gave Man, God s special creation made
in His own image, dominion over the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This heresy is the idea that there is a spiritual reward for depriving the physical body of comfort or
pleasure. The Catholics who endured the outbreaks of bubonic plague in the Middle Ages sometimes
resorted to self flagellation, a practice of whipping or beating one s self in order to gain favor with
God (and presumably avoid plague). Catholics have long practiced similar traditions, with some
devout Catholics praying on particularly uncomfortable prayer mats or refusing red meat on certain
days. Some Catholic clergy go so far as to wear burlap undergarments, so as to suffer with Christ and
perhaps gain favor with God. This heretical doctrine declares the atonement by Christ to be an
incomplete one, and contradicts His final words, the confirmation that It is finished (John 19:30b).
The particular incarnation of this heresy that pervades even the evangelical churches of today comes
to light in those churches condemnation of various things, including drugs and alcohol. Now, as
described above, all things created by God in the beginning were good. The use of the earth s
resources was given to Man, and with it responsibility. The scriptures indicate that alcohol can be a
deceiver. Immoderate use of alcohol leads to drunkenness, which the scriptures indeed condemn
(Galatians 5:19 21). However, alcohol was never forbidden to the Hebrews, and Jesus himself made it
at the wedding in Cana (John 2). It seems clear that the alcohol itself is not what the scriptures

Galen Strawson On Moral Responsibility
Galen Strawson refutes the idea that we have free will and claims that we cannot be morally
responsible for our actions. According to his basic argument nothing can be the cause of itself or causa
sui, and in order for one to be morally responsible for their actions they have to be the cause of one
self. Therefore, since we are not causa sui we are not morally responsible for our actions. He claims
that we do not have free will because we do actions that have a reason behind them and if a person
acts for a reason they act that way because of how they are mentally. Thus, if no one responsible for
their mental state they are not responsible for the actions that occur. A person has to be responsible for
their self makeup to be morally responsible and since no one is responsible for this they are not
morally responsible for their actions.
Moral responsibility from my view is for someone to do something and later is held accountable for
their actions. To be morally responsible one must have the power or right to act or think as one wants
without restraint. Whether they use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

having options we have the right to resist certain options and engage in certain options. The person in

The RMS Titanic was the second of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line.
It was built in Belfast by the Harland and Wolff shipyard with Thomas Andrews as her naval architect.
There were around 2,224 passengers and crew on board the ship on her maiden voyage, of which
1,500 were lost.

hundreds of people were confined without adequate food or toilet facilities. White Star Line vessels

The Titanic carried a total of twenty lifeboats. Fourteen of these were standard wooden lifeboats
capable of carrying 65 people each, four collapsible lifeboats with wooden bottoms and collapsible

art in modern design is James Montgomery Flagg s I Want You for U.S. Army poster (James
Montgomery Flagg. I Want You for the U.S. Army, Lithograph, 1917. Library of Congress Prints and

Although Flagg s poster shows his intent through the text, Klinger s poster is much less
straightforward and could be hard to understand if the viewer was not from the same country or
culture as Klinger. Unlike Flagg s traditional color scheme in his poster, Klinger uses complementary
colors to enhance the contrast between the red figure eight and the green snakelike figure in the center
of the poster. Klinger s poster also does not rely on its colors to represent its purpose. Instead of
relying on the color scheme, Klinger s poster relies on its figure such as the snake and the number to
be the main focus of his piece. The arrows going through the snake give the idea that revenge or anger
is toward someone. The top part of the 8 wrapped around the head of the snake also gives the idea of
someone being trapped or a very concerning situation. Unlike Flagg s poster, Klinger s poster seems to
take up much more space but does not have a lot of detail or other figures placed in the background.
Klinger s poster is much more simplistic in the tone of the piece. There is very little, if any, value
changes that show the rigidness and seriousness compared to Flagg s piece. Although Klinger relies on
its two dimensional form, the items such as the arrows and the figure eight rely on each other in
combination as a whole to depict the message. Much like Flagg s work, the message or context could
be lost if the viewer did not speak the same language or was not from the same country. Klinger s
piece captures both simplicity with its two dimensional style and complexity with its unclear

Essay On Leverage
Blog #23_ Leverage_ What is The Best Leverage for Your Forex Trading Strategy
Introduction
Understanding how to trade forex isn t always the easiest of tasks, as in order to successfully turn a
profit a trader must have a detailed knowledge of the market, the right trading strategy, and a selection
of functional trading tools. One tool that is commonly praised is leverage, as through correct use it can
boost a trader s output without the need for any additional capital upfront. The following article takes
an in depth look at leverage, helping you get a grasp on what leverage is appropriate for your forex
trading strategy and all round market approach.
What is leverage?
Before we delve into the pros and cons of using leverage, it is ... Show more content on

The margin in this instance would be $1,000, with margin based leverage equalling 100:1
(100,000/1,000). Many don t equate margin based leverage to being legitimate leverage, as it doesn t
affect a trader s risk exposure, as a trader s margin requirement might not influence his or her profits
or losses. Reason being that a trader can choose to allocate more than the required margin for any
active position.
Real Leverage
In order to understand the real degree of leverage within any position you are undertaking, you must
divide the total value of your positions by your trading capital. For example, should you have $10,000
in your account and you choose to open a $100,000 position, by default you are trading with 10x
leverage. Now, should you trade two standard lots ($200,000) instead of a single standard lot
($100,000), you will then be trading at 20x leverage. You can probably start to figure out how this
works from a real leverage perspective using these examples, with the leverage offered being related
to the level of margin and the discretion of the broker.
Understanding associated levels of risk
As you can plainly see, by making use of leverage you can magnify not only your profits, but should
things take a turn for the worse, your losses as well. Think about it this way, the greater the level of
leverage you use, the greater the level of risk you take on. What this means is that leverage can

Structure And Geometry Of Water Molecules Lab Report
Describe the structure and geometry of a water molecule, and explain what properties emerge as a
result of this structure.
Water is a polar molecule that can form hydrogen bonds. Four pairs of electrons in the outer shell of
the oxygen atom repel one another which gives the water molecule a tetrahedral shape. A water
molecule consists of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. The chemical features show some
properties as water, such as the ability of ice to float, the freezing and melting temperatures of water,
the ability of water to store heat, the formation of water droplets, and waters ability to dissolve and not
dissolve different substances.
List four characteristics of water that are emergent properties resulting from hydrogen bonding.

The pH scale is on a scale from numbers 1 14. Numbers 1 6 on the pH scale are considered to be
acidic. Number 7 on the pH scale is neutral. Numbers 8 14 on the pH are considered basic.
Using the bicarbonate buffer system as an example, explain how buffers work.
A buffer is a solution of a weak acid and its corresponding base. Buffers work by accepting hydrogen
atoms from solutions when they are in excess and donating hydrogen atoms when drained. In the
bioarbonate buffer system, the chemical equlibrium between carbonic and bicarbonate act as a pH
moniter. For example, When the H+ concentration starts to rise meaning when the pH drops, the
bicarbonate ion acts as a base and removes the unneeded hydrogen ions. As for when the H+
concentration in blood begins to fall meaning the pH rises, more carbonic acid separate which
replenishes hydrogen ions.

The Jerk Case Study
As living creature s animals and people iron is one of many essential minerals we that need to stay
alive. Iron is required to produce red blood cells through a process called haematopoiesis. It is also an
important component of the red blood cells (in hemoglobin) where the iron is present when that is
transporting oxygen from the lungs then throughout the body. Once the oxygen delivered the iron
binds to the carbon dioxide back to the lungs and the carbon is exhaled. It has many other functions:
maintain homeostasis, metabolism (conversion of blood sugar to energy, production of enzymes,
amino acids, new cells, hormones, etc.). The metabolisms process is allowing people to maintain
healthy cells of skin, nails, hair, internal organs, and everything else that allows a person to be alive.
However too little iron could cause a condition known as iron deficiency such as anemia. If someone
has too much iron it can cause a person to become toxic as the storage of iron increases it would cause
Hemochromatosis and other conditions. For the research, I have selected House: season three and
episode 23 The Jerk .

The Best Hotel Rates Or Car Rental Deals
The first thing many people will do before deciding to go on a vacation is check for cheap hotels.
Cheap hotels are the major driving factor that will decide whether or not someone actually goes
through with the booking. Of course, we are not talking about the elite 1 percent who don t care about
finding the best hotel rates or car rental deals. In fact, for members of the upper class, cheap hotels are
the farthest thing down their list of priorities when booking their annual vacations. In this case, we are
talking about the middle class people who have to count the money in their bank accounts before
making a decision like that.
Speaking from experience, I tend to always start my vacation planning with a search titled Cheap
Hotels . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m sick and tired of it because the truth is, I could probably never afford these so called best hotel
rates unless I win the lottery. Fat chance! Some cheap hotels like to bundle my car rental with my
hotel booking so that I can benefit from better bundled rates . That couldn t be farther from the truth.
Once, while booking my hotel in Paris, I decided to bundle cheap hotel and car rental rates. I then
compared the DEAL BREAKER! with the rates for booking individually. Guess what? My cheap
hotel ended up costing me approximately 78 dollars less and my car rental an astonishing 140 dollars
less. From my experience, bundling these things to get the best hotel rates and car rental rates are
utterly useless and you end up paying more than you should have. In my case, I would have shelled
out an extra 218 dollars if I wasn t careful. That s insane!
I guess I should stop complaining and get to the point of it. How does one go on a vacation while on a
budget? In my opinion, anyone can. All you need to do is find a cheap hotel and a good car rental deal.
When I say on a budget, I don t mean 50 bucks. For me, anyway, hotels seem to account for the largest
portion of my travel expense. I always try to find cheap hotels, but how cheap can cheap get when you
re travelling to Paris? A few days stay in a cheap hotel can easily set me back 500 dollars, if not more.
I still haven t mentioned the car rental either. I like a nice hotel

Police Policing And Community Policing
Community Policing How effective is community policing? Community policing has several different
definitions. In this paper I will prove that community policing is effective by defining, community
policing as the police and citizens coming together to create a safe community, stop crime and resolve
problems and also urgently responding to the community. Throughout many years, the people s view
of community policing have remained the same. There are some valid causes as to why law
enforcement leaders consider that it is time to change the way policing labors so that they are
effectively helping the community. The way that community policing was trained in the past is not
necessarily efficient in today s society. For example, catastrophes in our communities continue to
increase the need for security, citizens loose the feeling of protection and wellbeing, and this can be
fixed by presenting advanced policing strategies. Law enforcement leaders are beginning to recognize
that they must accept the responsibility for the safety of their communities. Community policing is as
a law enforcement tactic enforced to progress a stronger connection between the police and the
community. The fundamental idea following community policing is that the community should be
willingly involved with law enforcement leaders to help resolve problems. While that may seem
exceptionally simple, law enforcement leaders should acknowledge that the community should be
involved in the

Gilbert Alvarez
Gilbert Martinez was born in 1942, in crystal city Texas. Mr. Martinez was born Mexican American
and his parents were both from Mexico City. During that time racism was still very much alive and
most people in the city were Mexican American while the city council were white people. The city
council was unfair to most people and never listened to their opinion on city affairs. So Gilbert
decided when he was about 17 to start a campaign to run for city council. However he wasn t even
eighteen so he got some of his childhood friends to help him. Together they wanted to put local people
in for city council to get their word in and have representation. One of the problems they faced was a
tax that Minorities had to pay in order to vote. At that time the tax was a dollar and seventy five cents.
The problem with that is the Mexicans in the town all nearly worked in the fields as migrant workers
only making fifty cents an hour. To help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Martinez said one of the hardest things they had to do was find people willing to join and replace the
last council. They had to find people all the way up to the election. Many people were not willing or
just didn t have the will power to take control of the council let alone be a part of it. They soon were
able to find people among their members in their meetings. They were able to get the five members
they needed some time five days before the election, this group was known as Los Cinco De La Rasa .
Mr. Martinez and his group were ready for the upcoming election. The previous White council was
worried they might lose and have seen what Martinez and his group have been doing this whole time.
So a while back the Old council found of group of Mexicans to run for council. They were going to
keep all of the same rules and regulations as before but they wanted a minority face so people would
vote for them. This group of Mexicans were called fake or puppets by everyone else and got a bad
reputation as sell outs to the

Scapegoat In Animal Farm
Throughout the satire ridden story of Animal Farm by George Orwell, there are several symbolic and
enigmatic roles that show up repeatedly. An example of these reoccurrences is the scapegoat or enemy
character that seems to be omnipresent. This being is always the first to be blamed for practically
everything, and/or is threatening to the main characters. This sort of role is necessary for the animals
and the storyline because the character motivates them and unites them against a common enemy. The
enemy has to change because it must be displayed that the identity of the character doesn t matter, just
the effect that it has. If there were no enemy in any society, they would not feel so much as a whole
and have no outlet to direct their anger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does this by writing in a way that demonstrates how even as the identity of the part differs the
effects of it remain constant. Stated in the text is, Jones and all his men...were coming up the cart trade
that led to the farm...every animal was at his post...the next moment all the animals together were
chasing them round and round the yard. (Orwell 16) Later on in the story you can find this text
evidence: Sentinels were places at all the approaches to the farm...Frederick and his followers had
already come through the five barred gate...Boldly enough the animals sallied forth to meet the
men...they charged forth in a body and made straight for the enemy. (Orwell 39) These pieces of text
show two different occasions in which the enemy characters at the time are coming to attack the farm.
Jones and Frederick are somewhat different people with different relationships to the animals. Jones
was the drunk of a farmer that previously owned Animal Farm and failed to take proper care of the
animals and treat them justly. Frederick was the tough, deceitful overseer of the neighboring farm
Pinchfield who often abused his animals. However, all these differentiations can be put aside since
they were both in the role of enemy . Because of what character part they were filling, their presence
in the book resulted in the same effects on the animals. They

Farmworker s Plight Case Study
From Field to Table: The Farmworker s Plight

Fresno, California to Wilsonville, Oregon. They have a large family, but only bring their five youngest
children. It s 2016 and the children are excited to visit their vacation home that they happily describe
as bonito. The vacation home is an agricultural community where other families stay throughout the
year; some of them, like the family of Geraldo and Celia, will be staying only for the berry season,
which lasts for about three months. Geraldo, Celia, and their daughter Iris will be working every day
while in Oregon, and the younger children will go to a temporary preschool. In 2015 the family ...

Unfortunately, the hazards that MSFWs are exposed to have not been addressed thoroughly by
policymakers. There are still clear threats to the health and safety of MSFWs on a daily basis.
Farmwork is laborious, but the rates of injury and illness seen in the MSFW population are too high to
merely attribute to dangers of the profession. MSFWs have lower life expectancies than the general
population, and have an incidence of infant mortality that is two times higher than the national
average, according to David M. Carne s Hispanic and Farmworker Health: A Community Health
Survey of Hood River County, Oregon (Carne 11). The increased infant mortality rate (IMR) is
particularly concerning, as infants aren t participating in farmwork, meaning that the high IMR is
likely from a lack of access to healthcare infrastructure. Most MSFWs do not have healthcare, which
could be influenced by the numbers of undocumented MSFWs who cannot get healthcare in the US,
but we do not currently know how many undocumented farmworkers there actually are. Sometimes
MSFWs lack the education or literacy to pursue healthcare less than 50% of MSFWs with citizenship
have graduated from high school (Arcury). The high mortality rates seen in MSFWs could also be
partially caused by a poor standard of living Carne s survey reported that the average annual salary of
a seasonal farmworker is $6,500 (Carne 11). $6,500 is an extremely low income that indubitably
affects the quality of one s life and the resources available to them. Oregon fails at protecting all of its
inhabitants if it cannot address the systemic problems in agriculture that allow families to face
conditions such as these. It is hard to believe that when a portion of a population faces IMRs that are
twice as high as the rest of the population, nothing is done to remedy

Harry Arthur Is An Argument Of Globalization
Sara Aminaei Essay no.1 Q1. Harry Arthurs has argued that Globalization renders dysfunctional any
system based on national policies, laws, and institutions. Explain whether or not you find his argument
persuasive and support of your argument with reference to the substantive regulatory areas examined
in the course. The political climate in the western hemisphere has altered the judicial system in
Canada in numerous ways. Since the post war era we have seen a push for globalization and
neoliberalism and have been reassured consistently by the leaders on the global stage that this is
essential for our world economy to thrive. It is not reasonable to disagree with Arthur that
globalization has become a dominant theme and impacts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this light, Canada, as one of the most open advanced economies in the world , has close to 60 to 70
per cent of GDP, which is attributable to both exports and imports (Arthurs 3). The heavy reliance on
globalization in Canada traces back to the political climate of the early 20th century due to it being a
loyal ally to the United States. Of course, unlike America, Canada does not have privatized groups on
the same scale. For instance, the United States has privatized health care and prison systems (in light
of the recent Trump administration universal healthcare is currently unknown). Through privatization
of major organizations, the government cuts its responsibility for some of the public programs and
relays it to the public. These private organizations keep propelling their agendas to increase their
wealth and power. This creates a conflict for our society as the government is not serving the needs for
everybody but the needs for the upper class. This act is often reinforced by lobbyist groups. The
Internal Revenue Service (IRS) defines lobbying as a follows: an organization will be regarded as
attempting to influence legislation if it contacts, or urges the public to contact, members or employees
of a legislative body for the purpose of proposing, supporting, or opposing legislation, or if the
organization advocates the adoption or rejection of legislation. The IRS is careful with wording to say

The Interesting Industry of Japanese Whaling Essay
If I had one year to learn more about a topic of my choice, I would study about the Japanese whaling
industry. Although whale hunting in Japan began in the 12th century, Japan s involvement in the
whaling industry began in the 1890s. The international whaling industry functioned normally until
1925 when the League of Nations called for conservation measures in 1925. This eventually led to the
Geneva Convention for the Regulation of Whaling in 1931, which was ignored by Japan and
Germany. Instead, as whale catches diminished in coastal waters, Japanese whale hunters looked to
Antarctica. This started with the Japanese company Toyo Hogei K.K. purchasing the Norwegian ship
Antarctic, renaming it the Tonan Maru.
However, World War II soon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Japan joined the International Whaling Commission in 1951; however, Japan would later be criticized
by environmental organizations and anti whaling nations for making heavy use of Article VIII of the
International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling which states that Notwithstanding anything
contained in this Convention any Contracting Government may grant to any of its nationals a special
permit authorizing that national to kill, take and treat whales for purposes of scientific research subject
to such restrictions as to number and subject to such other conditions as the Contracting Government
thinks fit, and the killing, taking, and treating of whales in accordance with the provisions of this
Article shall be exempt from the operation of this Convention.
As the commercial viability of large competing whaling fleets was diminished due to restrictions, six
Japanese whaling companies agreed to merge into one in July 1975. The government declared support
for the new company, with Prime Minister Shintaro Abe saying, We ask that the flame of the whaling
industry will not be put out and that you do your best to secure Japan s food supplies. The government
will be doing all it can to actively support your efforts. Eventually, the company merged with the
Japan Whaling Association and Institute of Cetacean Research to create the Institute of Cetacean
Research in 1987.

Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels By Jonathan Swift
Aldous Huxley once said, There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are
the doors of perception (The Personal Path to Virtue 20). Perception is present in every aspect of
society, for humans decipher receptive actions into comprehensible and consolidated views of the
Earth around them. From art, to music, and even to literature, everyone has his or her own perception,
one that can change and develop dependent upon everyone s own vision. In the novel, Gulliver s
Travels by Jonathan Swift, the reader will find their perception of the themes and the characters in the
book drastically different in the beginning of the story than at the end. When one first lays their hands
on a copy of Gulliver s Travels, the ideas and themes they would believe to be most obvious and
important would include adventure, discovery and the development of civilization. They would simply
formulate these ideas from the title and cover of the novel. However, as one reads the story and
divulges into the deeper meaning of Gulliver and his travels, he or she will find that the limits of
human understanding and the individual comparisons of nature versus society are much more present
in the novel than are adventure and discovery. Change is the underlining focus of this story. From the
themes to the actions of the characters and even to the motifs of the story, many facets of the story
change from the first to the last page due to the overwhelming significance of adventures that

  • 3. Valley Of Ashes In The Great Gatsby In F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, the valley of ashes, an industrial wasteland between West Egg and Manhattan, is a solemn dumping ground, (24) characterized by its imagery of dust and ash gray men (25). Above all, the decrepit billboard of the defunct oculist Dr. T.J. Eckleburg watches over the gray landscape where George and Myrtle Wilson live above their dusty garage. George Wilson, a poor resident of the valley of ashes, physically blends into his surroundings, mingling immediately with the cement color of the walls, (26) making him the human embodiment of the valley. Next to the valley is West Egg, home to those with new money, like Jay Gatsby. • 5. The Political Motivations For English Imperialism 1. The political motivations for English imperialism were made on country that is craving to succeed in power, to increase their land, to have an armed force, to achieve respect by captivating colonies, and increase pride and security countrywide. The Pilgrims left England to North America because they were seeking freedom from religious oppression from King James I. Even though most of them died during the cross over, the few that made it settle very quickly with the help of the Native Americans. These groups of people were very religious and wanted to keep their faith alive. Their leaders in England did not tolerate it so they decide to leave England to a place where can freely express their religion. (U.S History, 2008 2016) 2. The social pressures that contributed to English colonization of North America are the fact that the population in England doubled. There were to many mouths to feed and very little food, clothing and other goods that led to inflation. Since there were so many people looking for job the wages fell drastically which led the laborers in poverty. Landowners raised their rents, apprehended the lands where the peasants occupied commonly which resulted on them being homeless and landless. So they had no choice but to live in the streets. The officials finally realize that them leaving to North America would alleviate the surplus of population in England. So that is why they migrated to North America to improve their circumstances. Exploration Of Exploitation During The 1970 s Generation Exploration of Exploitation During the 1970 s Generation The 70 s decade represented a very experimental and uncertain time for the film Industry. Due to financial instability, the Hollywood studio system had collapsed. The petri dish with the highest hatching viability was the 1.0% dish. No, the results did not support my prediction in the pre laboratory question #2. My prediction did not match the results because in the 1.5% petri dish it showed a lower hatching viability compared to the 1.0% petri dish. After, the results came out it was proven that the best NaCl solution for the brine shrimp was the 1.0 petri dish because it wasn t too concentrated and it wasnt too little. Explain, in terms of natural selection, why one saline solution yielded the highest hatching viability of brine shrimp. Another, limitation was the exact amount of brine shrimps you could brush up. This made the hatching viability to not be as accurate because there was different amount of eggs to start with. • 10. The United States And The Constitution In any society, the first thing that must be determined is from where the power to govern comes. No matter what form government takes, one thing remains constant; no person or group can govern without the will and consent of the people. This goes for despotic mad men and duly elected officers of a free electorate. If those who rule must command the will of those they lead, it must then follow that all executive power flows not from nobility, birthright, or wealth, but from the people themselves. It is this very principle, that any government was given authority and legitimacy from its subjects, that the United States government is based on, namely the Constitution. Drawing on the British parliament, Greek democracy, Roman republic, and even the Native American confederations, The Constitution of the United States was completed on September 17, 1787 and ratified seven months later. The U.S. Constitution has 4,400 words. It is the shortest written Constitution of any major government in the world; However, if this is the document that all law in America is based then why is it so short? Because those founding fathers that had opposed centralized government wanted to have a document that expressly explained the duties, powers, and responsibilities of the new government. This truly was written as a rulebook for the government naming each and every rule that the people of the former colonies wanted the central government to abide by. Since the people wished this central government to have little power, the document is understandably short. In fact, the length of this document has only increased when it has been necessary to further curtail government s power and increase civil liberties, prohibition being the only exception; however with its repeal this can be considered a wash. In juxtaposition, the Nevada State Constitution is 16,543 words long; almost four times as long as the U.S. Constitution. Being declared a land mark by the state of California after nearly 80 years of use, this structure has had many different uses other than its current purpose of housing one of the most dominate teams in college football, the Trojans. • 12. Telemachus Reflection Through his journey to Pylos and Sparta, Telemachus, who was born into a very privileged and high ranking family, learns how to use his inherited social status and connections for his own interests, which will help him mature into manhood. Telemachus was never old enough to remember what it was like when his father was around. Since Odysseus left, he has lived with his mom and nurse. However, for three years, he has been overwhelmed by suitors, who have taken over his house. Odysseus was never able to show Telemachus how to stand up for himself. Telemachus has been less than passive when going about doing things to get what he wants. When Athena comes and tells him that his father is going to come home, he realizes he has been ignoring what he knows is wrong, such as the suitors throwing parties every night, and that he needs to stop them. He doesn t have any idea of how he is going to find his father when Athena comes, but he along his way finds that he has many resources and connections at hand that will allow him to find out what happened to his dad. Athena, disguised as Mentor, an old friend of Odysseus, encourages Telemachus to talk to Nestor. Telemachus, no more shyness, this is not the time!/ We sailed the seas for this, for news of your father // So go right up to Nestor...// Press him yourself to tell the whole truth:/ he ll never lie the man is far too wise (3.16 22) Here, Athena is encouraging Telemachus to be assertive, to get what the needs to know to find his father. Telemachus responds, How can I greet him, Mentor, even approach the king?/ I m hardly adept at subtle conversation./ Someone my age might feel shy, what s more,/ interrogating an older man. / (3.23 27) He is intimidated. The irony is that he himself is of the higher class, and if Odysseus had been home, he would be accustomed to these interactions. This is Odysseus learning that he has high social status and can enjoy the privileges he was born with, such as being able to talk to the king. The 1920s, commonly depicted as a time of great wealth and freedom in America, created many changes for women. In other words, even though she is described as vulgar and cheap, she is also able to give off life and vibrance. Fitzgerald describes her as someone who does not embody the typical physicalities a woman with status usually has. Myrtle desires desperately to do much more in the world than just be a wife to a poor car salesman, and wants to move up and have her status respected. However, she is not able to achieve that, except by being Tom s mistress, who often gives off the impression that she is not that important to him. When Tom and Myrtle fight over Myrtle s right to say Daisy s name, Tom slaps her, making a short deft movement, Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand ( Fitzgerald 37). Fitzgerald s description of the hit makes it seem like Tom did not put any effort into it; by explaining it as a short, simple hit that lacks intensity exemplifies that Myrtle is not deserving of Tom s outright effort. The book centers around a woman named Marian McAlpin, who faces problems in her relationship. Marian gets engaged to Peter, who is narcissistic and controlling. She notices that ever since she has gotten engaged, she is starting to lose her appetite. This essay will seek to prove that food is a symbol of Marian s identity. The novel introduces the readers to Marian, a well educated woman, who works in Seymour Surveys, a market research company. She lives in an apartment with Ainsley, a free spirited woman. The way we understand subjectivity effects the way we understand the world around us, whether the subject is viewed in the Cartesian manner as a fixed entity, with a pre existing nature that is not affected by the discourses that surround the it, or if we view the subject as one produced in and through the forces of power available in the time period, whether they be political, social or linguistic. The dominant model of understanding the subject up till the 20th century has been the model provided by Descartes, one where the self is understood as being independent and unsupported, where it is considered a private and autonomous experience deriving meaning and substance on its own without the assistance or influence of external factors. According to Descartes true self knowledge cannot rely on the contingent and fallible perceptual ideas that are not essential to one s true self. During the age of Enlightenment reason and empirical knowledge were foregrounded, and were focused upon as the most important factors in understanding the world, consequently the individual was also emphasized as the creator of meaning. Human beings were understood as being born with great potential, and a stable, true self that if given the right to its unrestrained expression, could flourish and achieve anything. Consuming to few lipids does not provide the necessary energy needed for the body, which decrease metabolism and hormone production. Fiber Intake Ranges The fiber intakes meet the recommendation calculated by I Profile. Since the recommendation was met, I believe that the fiber intake was just right. However, I do not believe that my diet met the minimum number of servings of food from each of the fiber containing groups. I believe that the both groups for fruits and vegetables fell short of the minimum number of servings. The specific foods that provided the most fiber were pasta, and a bagel. Whereas, the foods that provided the least were the BBQ chips, Croissant, sausage. It appears that the trend in my food choices is that there are not enough fruits and vegetables, which affects my fiber intake. • 23. History Paper Burial Practices, Concept of After Life... The concept of afterlife existed among many ancient civilizations. It was met as a way of understanding the present or as a way to predict the future depending on their needs. As such, in order to explain the unknown phenomenon that impacted their daily life, early tribes saw natural events as simple as the rain and the winds or birth and death and regarded them to be controlled by supernatural powers related to the gods, demons, the moon, the sun or other external driving forces. Ancient people sought protection for survival and power to maintain order with the tribes by practicing rituals which were aimed to invoke the spirit of the deceased. However, the suffering in the other world would end eventually. Romans funeral rituals usually included washing the corpse, laying it flat on a sofa or bed, and dressing it with the finest clothes that individual had ever possessed. A coin would then be placed under the tongue or on the eyes so that he could pay the ferryman Charon for rowing him to the land of the dead. The marble urn I observed at the Met dated from mid 1st 2nd century A.D. was used to place the ashes of the deceased after the body was cremated. As time went by, they came to understand that the dissolution of the body was inevitable and the physical body was only a temporary host of the soul. This piece of artifact provided evidence that in ancient Romans point of view, the remains of the physical body had to be disintegrated in order for the soul to begin a new life. It is reasonable to conclude that Romans regarded cremating the body of the dead as a naturally faster way to begin the life in the other world than slow disintegration of the corpse. On the other hand, Egyptians believed that the person s physical body was more than a temporary host and it had to remain intact, a condition necessary to attain the afterlife. Moreover, they contemplated the idea that a person was the combination of several elements such as, the ba , which was the non physical part of the individual and the ka which was a universal force shared by all. I came from a working class family of six whose ethnicity was mixed my father, White and my mother, Hispanic. My siblings and I all went to Slater Elementary School from Kindergarten to 6th grade. • 26. High School Reflection Essay Have you ever just felt like high school was too easy? Well I have because I felt like the teachers just passed you on. They didn t give me a challenge like I was supposed to have and from that being, now I have to prepare myself for the college life and teach myself the things I was supposed to be taught in high school. The school I came from didn t have a math teacher or a history teacher all year so we just sat in the class rooms and played everyday all day and I still ended up passing and that school was Albany Early College. They told me that I would finish high school with an associate degree but all I got was a discombobulated school and an uncontrolled school. The next school I went to didn t care either. They showed me that I can skip class everyday and still pass with an A average. Despite all the things I didn t get taught in high school, I did learn some unique aspects that I can reflect on and use for college. The skills I reflect on are annotating, using the Cornell note taking system, and how to be on time for school. To begin with, the first aspect I reflect on from high school is annotating. Annotating helped me a lot when I was taking final exams and other test. This is one of the most I reflect on because I can use this skill to help me in college. I first learned how to annotate in the 11th grade when I was at Monroe Comprehensive High School. The way my teacher showed me how to annotate was to number the paragraphs then summarize the paragraphs individually, after doing that it helped me understand the passage better as if it was hard to comprehend. My teacher also told me to underline any sentences that look interesting to me and circle any words that I am not familiar with and go and look them up after I was done. But you don t just annotate and be done, but you have to go back and study what you annotated so you can get a full understanding of whatever you re annotating. Annotating is a big skill that I was taught because I can use it in other subjects other than English such as: History, Science, and other classes, but I can t annotate the same way in every subject. For example: If I annotate math the same way I do in History then my notes would be messed up because I am learning two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Doctrine There is a great falsehood that is perpetuated by the modern church, and it is one that threatens the very mission assigned to every believer in Matthew 28:18 20. Before one can address this falsehood, one must understand the duty of God s people in this life. It is the believer s task to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them as God ordained, and teaching them how to obey the teachings of Jesus. What then are the teachings of Jesus? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This heresy is the idea that there is a spiritual reward for depriving the physical body of comfort or pleasure. The Catholics who endured the outbreaks of bubonic plague in the Middle Ages sometimes resorted to self flagellation, a practice of whipping or beating one s self in order to gain favor with God (and presumably avoid plague). Catholics have long practiced similar traditions, with some devout Catholics praying on particularly uncomfortable prayer mats or refusing red meat on certain days. Some Catholic clergy go so far as to wear burlap undergarments, so as to suffer with Christ and perhaps gain favor with God. This heretical doctrine declares the atonement by Christ to be an incomplete one, and contradicts His final words, the confirmation that It is finished (John 19:30b). The particular incarnation of this heresy that pervades even the evangelical churches of today comes to light in those churches condemnation of various things, including drugs and alcohol. Now, as described above, all things created by God in the beginning were good. The use of the earth s resources was given to Man, and with it responsibility. The scriptures indicate that alcohol can be a deceiver. Immoderate use of alcohol leads to drunkenness, which the scriptures indeed condemn (Galatians 5:19 21). • 36. Galen Strawson On Moral Responsibility Galen Strawson refutes the idea that we have free will and claims that we cannot be morally responsible for our actions. According to his basic argument nothing can be the cause of itself or causa sui, and in order for one to be morally responsible for their actions they have to be the cause of one self. Therefore, since we are not causa sui we are not morally responsible for our actions. He claims that we do not have free will because we do actions that have a reason behind them and if a person acts for a reason they act that way because of how they are mentally. Thus, if no one responsible for their mental state they are not responsible for the actions that occur. A person has to be responsible for their self makeup to be morally responsible and since no one is responsible for this they are not morally responsible for their actions. Instead of relying on the color scheme, Klinger s poster relies on its figure such as the snake and the number to be the main focus of his piece. The arrows going through the snake give the idea that revenge or anger is toward someone. The top part of the 8 wrapped around the head of the snake also gives the idea of someone being trapped or a very concerning situation. Unlike Flagg s poster, Klinger s poster seems to take up much more space but does not have a lot of detail or other figures placed in the background. Klinger s poster is much more simplistic in the tone of the piece. There is very little, if any, value changes that show the rigidness and seriousness compared to Flagg s piece. Although Klinger relies on its two dimensional form, the items such as the arrows and the figure eight rely on each other in combination as a whole to depict the message. Much like Flagg s work, the message or context could be lost if the viewer did not speak the same language or was not from the same country. Klinger s piece captures both simplicity with its two dimensional style and complexity with its unclear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The margin in this instance would be $1,000, with margin based leverage equalling 100:1 (100,000/1,000). Many don t equate margin based leverage to being legitimate leverage, as it doesn t affect a trader s risk exposure, as a trader s margin requirement might not influence his or her profits or losses. Reason being that a trader can choose to allocate more than the required margin for any active position. Real Leverage In order to understand the real degree of leverage within any position you are undertaking, you must divide the total value of your positions by your trading capital. For example, should you have $10,000 in your account and you choose to open a $100,000 position, by default you are trading with 10x leverage. Now, should you trade two standard lots ($200,000) instead of a single standard lot ($100,000), you will then be trading at 20x leverage. You can probably start to figure out how this works from a real leverage perspective using these examples, with the leverage offered being related to the level of margin and the discretion of the broker. Understanding associated levels of risk As you can plainly see, by making use of leverage you can magnify not only your profits, but should things take a turn for the worse, your losses as well. Think about it this way, the greater the level of leverage you use, the greater the level of risk you take on. What this means is that leverage can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Water is a polar molecule that can form hydrogen bonds. Four pairs of electrons in the outer shell of the oxygen atom repel one another which gives the water molecule a tetrahedral shape. A water molecule consists of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. The chemical features show some properties as water, such as the ability of ice to float, the freezing and melting temperatures of water, the ability of water to store heat, the formation of water droplets, and waters ability to dissolve and not dissolve different substances. Iron is required to produce red blood cells through a process called haematopoiesis. It is also an important component of the red blood cells (in hemoglobin) where the iron is present when that is transporting oxygen from the lungs then throughout the body. Once the oxygen delivered the iron binds to the carbon dioxide back to the lungs and the carbon is exhaled. • 45. Police Policing And Community Policing Community Policing How effective is community policing? Community policing has several different definitions. In this paper I will prove that community policing is effective by defining, community policing as the police and citizens coming together to create a safe community, stop crime and resolve problems and also urgently responding to the community. Throughout many years, the people s view of community policing have remained the same. There are some valid causes as to why law enforcement leaders consider that it is time to change the way policing labors so that they are effectively helping the community. The way that community policing was trained in the past is not necessarily efficient in today s society. For example, catastrophes in our communities continue to increase the need for security, citizens loose the feeling of protection and wellbeing, and this can be fixed by presenting advanced policing strategies. Law enforcement leaders are beginning to recognize that they must accept the responsibility for the safety of their communities. Community policing is as a law enforcement tactic enforced to progress a stronger connection between the police and the community. The fundamental idea following community policing is that the community should be willingly involved with law enforcement leaders to help resolve problems. While that may seem exceptionally simple, law enforcement leaders should acknowledge that the community should be involved in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An example of these reoccurrences is the scapegoat or enemy character that seems to be omnipresent. This being is always the first to be blamed for practically everything, and/or is threatening to the main characters. This sort of role is necessary for the animals and the storyline because the character motivates them and unites them against a common enemy. (Orwell 39) These pieces of text show two different occasions in which the enemy characters at the time are coming to attack the farm. Jones and Frederick are somewhat different people with different relationships to the animals. Jones was the drunk of a farmer that previously owned Animal Farm and failed to take proper care of the animals and treat them justly. Frederick was the tough, deceitful overseer of the neighboring farm Pinchfield who often abused his animals. There are still clear threats to the health and safety of MSFWs on a daily basis. MSFWs have lower life expectancies than the general population, and have an incidence of infant mortality that is two times higher than the national average, according to David M. Carne s Hispanic and Farmworker Health: A Community Health Survey of Hood River County, Oregon (Carne 11). The increased infant mortality rate (IMR) is particularly concerning, as infants aren t participating in farmwork, meaning that the high IMR is likely from a lack of access to healthcare infrastructure. Most MSFWs do not have healthcare, which could be influenced by the numbers of undocumented MSFWs who cannot get healthcare in the US, but we do not currently know how many undocumented farmworkers there actually are. Sometimes MSFWs lack the education or literacy to pursue healthcare less than 50% of MSFWs with citizenship have graduated from high school (Arcury). The high mortality rates seen in MSFWs could also be partially caused by a poor standard of living Carne s survey reported that the average annual salary of a seasonal farmworker is $6,500 (Carne 11). $6,500 is an extremely low income that indubitably affects the quality of one s life and the resources available to them. In this light, Canada, as one of the most open advanced economies in the world , has close to 60 to 70 per cent of GDP, which is attributable to both exports and imports (Arthurs 3). The heavy reliance on globalization in Canada traces back to the political climate of the early 20th century due to it being a loyal ally to the United States. Of course, unlike America, Canada does not have privatized groups on the same scale. For instance, the United States has privatized health care and prison systems (in light of the recent Trump administration universal healthcare is currently unknown). Through privatization of major organizations, the government cuts its responsibility for some of the public programs and relays it to the public. These private organizations keep propelling their agendas to increase their wealth and power. This creates a conflict for our society as the government is not serving the needs for everybody but the needs for the upper class. This act is often reinforced by lobbyist groups. Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels By Jonathan Swift Aldous Huxley once said, There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception (The Personal Path to Virtue 20). Perception is present in every aspect of society, for humans decipher receptive actions into comprehensible and consolidated views of the Earth around them. From art, to music, and even to literature, everyone has his or her own perception, one that can change and develop dependent upon everyone s own vision. In the novel, Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the reader will find their perception of the themes and the characters in the book drastically different in the beginning of the story than at the end. They would simply formulate these ideas from the title and cover of the novel. However, as one reads the story and divulges into the deeper meaning of Gulliver and his travels, he or she will find that the limits of human understanding and the individual comparisons of nature versus society are much more present in the novel than are adventure and discovery.
