Causes And Effects Of Phobias
Effects:
Phobias are rarely life threatening, but they can make sufferers unreasonably stressed. Some
phobias inhibit the quality of life of a person and make it difficult for them to gain employment or
education. Some effects of phobias include:
Life Limiting: Depending on what the phobia is, it may be found a struggle to run errands, go out
with friends or working every day. These limitations can make the person feel isolated. It also
makes it difficult keeping friends and develops doubts on why he/she are not like everybody else.
Embarrassments: Phobias can cause awkward and embarrassing situations. These kinds of phobias
are difficult to manage due to the underlying fear of humiliation. Having a phobic reaction can feel
humiliating, reinforcing the fear and making the phobia more difficult to manage.
Feeling out of control: Usually, the person experiencing it would be aware of it and that it is an
irrational fear but wouldn t be able to control the actions made. Wonders are thought about how life
would be different without those fears.
Helplessness: It may appear when one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not the way you live along your phobia as if it does not exist, but it is how you learn to
overcome this phobia in a way that it would cease to exist. Not every person experiencing a fear
necessary has a phobia. They are two different aspects in which it depends on the degree of
suffering. For example, fear is when you feel anxious and have a slight disruption during
turbulence or flying. Phobia is not going to your best friend s island wedding because you fear
flying in an airplane. I think this is a major conflict were people become unaware of the
difference and directly jump into the assumption of having a phobia. Every person has a fear that
may conquer his/her body, but life is too short to allow it to do so. Grow the courage to face your
fears as it may take you into

The Rejection-Abuse Cycle
Psychology Domestic abuse often follows a certain pattern and that pattern is an infinite vicious
cycle. There are two types of abuse cycle. The name given for the first one this merciless cycle is
The Rejection Abuse Cycle (Brown, James, Taylor, 2010, p.280 307), which can be related to
social norms. The pattern is separated into four steps; (1) rejection, (2) threat to self, (3) defence
against threat, (4) abuse. Rejection happens when the man becomes aware of his partner is
rejecting him. Therefore, it triggers the man s previous experience of being rejected. After feeling
rejected, the man will sense a threat to his ego, evoking shame because social norms does not
allow men to be rejected by a woman (threat against self). To protect... Show more content on

PTSD is generally separated into four types; intrusive memories, avoidance, negative changes in
thinking and mood, and changes in physical and emotional reactions. First, intrusive memories
happens when the woman relives the traumatic event. On a long term effect, women will be
scared to get into a relationship or are afraid because they do not want the abuse to happen again.
Second, avoidance is when the woman does not want to go back to places or do activities they
did with their abuser because it reminds them of the abuse. On a long term effect, women will
prefer to stay home, but that will only lead to depression and having suicidal thoughts. Third, is
when women get out of the abuse relationship, they will have a negative thought about the world
and people around them, they will lose faith in people, so they will choose to stay home and avoid
contact. Finally, they will suffer from lack of sleep or be easily frightened because their emotions
are very delicate. All these symptoms lead back to depression and suicidal thoughts until someone
can stop the vicious

JanMar Case Study Case Analysis

The US paint industry is divided into three broad segments: architectural coatings, original
equipment manufacturing (OEM) coatings, and special purpose lacquers. The paint industry is a

growth of 1 2% per year.
Architectural Paint Coatings Industry

To efficiently create awareness, JanMar would need to produce a cooperate ad with a retail
outlet to get the buyer in the store. They would also need to increase sales by 8.3% or $1 million
to cover the cost of increase in advertising. (See appendix 1.2). 2) To make a price cut of 20%
would be unreasonable considering the costs of JanMar are unlikely to go down. Cutting price by
20% with the same variable costs would bring their contribution margin down to 19%. To get the
same net contribution of $4.2 million using their current new contribution margin, they will
have to generate $22,105,264.16 in sales which is far above their past sales of $12 million and
creating more volume to increase sales at this lower cost is not feasible which just one

prices but positioning themselves differently from competitors as a superior quality and service

Case Study 40 Long-Evans Male Rats
In the current study, 40 Long Evans male rats will be assessed in the back test at approximately
23 and 30 days of age to determine the coping profile of each individual rat. After profiling is
completed, 24 rats with the most representative coping profiles will be identified yielding three
groups: 8 active copers, 8 passive copers, and 8 flexible copers. In week two, the rats will be
trained to perform attentional set shifting tasks (AST) which requires them to dig for a food
reward (fruit loops). The rats will have to discriminate between specific salient variables such
odors and digging mediums to successfully complete the trial and obtain their food reward. The rats
will progress from simple discrimination AST (e.g., from one smell to another)

Consumerism In Oh Wonder
American philosopher Rebecca Goldstein once said, Our society is falling back increasingly on
rampant consumerism and self promoting social media as a way for people to feel that their lives
matter self centered means of numbing the questions of mattering. In a world caught up in mass
media and consumerism, there is an underlying argument that there is a lack of positive social
interaction. With the ability to say anything without having a face to face conversation, hate is
easier than ever to spread and people can avoid each other yet still interact . According to Dolan,
Rock, in particular, has always had an uneasy relationship with mass culture, since it faces the
problem of espousing the aesthetics of rebellion and countercultural ideals while at the same time
depending on the mechanisms of mass culture for dissemination and distribution. In the case of the
bandOh Wonder, they attempt to use their fame to spread ideas of love and compassion.
Oh Wonder is the singer/songwriter duo of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht hailing from
London England. Starting off in a separate band and a solo artist respectively, West and Vander
Gucht started with the idea to produce a song once a month on Soundcloud and YouTube. Coming
from a city with a high Soundcloud following, especially since the early 1990s, many of the most
internationally influential genres of electronic dance music have originated in London
(Allington), they immediately found success. To the surprise

Tattoos Have Been Popular Throughout Time All Over The...
Tattoos have been popular throughout time all over the world. Yet, rumors have it that tattoos are a
modern day trend that originated in prison. Tattooing actually dates back to five thousand years
ago. They have not just become some new pop culture fad. Prehistoric clans, ancient Egyptians,
Native Americans, sailors, circus people, royalty, celebrities, and plenty of young adults today
have all participated in some form of body art. Tattooing has played a significant role in
mythologies and customs in ancient cultures. In American, tattoos were introduced by sailors
returning from expeditions in Europe during the late seventeen hundreds and the early eighteen
hundreds. Tattoos became trendy in America through said sailors and bikers, which showed they
had a look of respect and dignity within their groups.
The earliest recording of tattoos was found on the frozen remains of an ancestor to Northern
Europeans from around Thirty Five Thousand B.C to about Two Thousand Three Hundred B.C.
The remains had small markings on it s lower back, ankles, and one of it s feet, made by rubbing
charcoal into cuts. A series of x rays revealed a joint disease where each of the tattoos were
located, which has led researchers to believe that the early Europeans used this as a medical
treatment to reduce pain. The Egyptian figures from around the time Two Thousand B.C show
female dancers displayed with dot and dash tattoos on their bodies to represent Bes, also known as
the god of fertility

Marionettes And The Pedestrian Comparison
Ray Bradbury: a poet, essayist, playwright, and short story writer. He has conducted many stories
that include themes relating to society and the future of society as he believes it to be.
Marionettes, Inc. and The Pedestrian are similar regarding the point of view of both texts.
Marionettes, Inc. is about Braling, a man who aspires to travel and follow his dreams but is
restricted because of the chains his wife has linked him to. Braling believes that he has found the
solution to this issue by purchasing a marionette to take the place of Braling. As a result, Braling 2,
the marionette, has a mind of his own and stands up to Braling 1in a threatening way. The short
story, The Pedestrian consists of a man, Leonard Mead who enjoys nightly walks by himself. A
police officer meets with Mr. Mead and commands Mead to get into the car. Reluctantly, Mead
agrees but with no knowledge of where the officer plans to take him. Marionettes, Inc. and The
Pedestrian are illustrated in the way that the point of view, the conflict, and the plot structure of
the story are similar and are easily comparable. The first aspect regarding the similarity of the
texts involves the point of view in both Marionettes Inc. and The Pedestrian . Marionettes Inc. is
told from the perspective of a middle aged man whom goes by the name of Braling. This character
feels the weight of the world is on his shoulders because of his clingy wife, Mrs. Braling. Braling

Nanacha s Digger
There is a fierce competition going on every night in the woods, a secret ritualistic meeting of
disenfranchised businessmen. Each armed with a shovel they challenge is to dig for as long as
you can. The nightly competition attracts a nameless and silent protagonist, an office worker
who spends his days fantasizing about the act of digging. He must face some fierce competition
in order to make it to the top and beat the man who silently watches over the event. Digger is an
example that in the world of the absurd anything can become a competition. This short film
which features no dialogue and a lot of digging is more fun in execution than concept. The late
night rituals the men perform in the short makes it feel as if this is just an event that has been and
always will be, steeped in a deep tradition with synchronized dances and an unspoken language
that you have to dig to prove your worth. Although it is hard to imagine this drawn out into feature
length as a short film it is very successful at creating this odd, funny yet endearing culture of a
bunch of businessmen digging holes in the middle of the forest while being cheered on by their
peers. Digger is a comedic gem with an ideal runtime that is bound to entertain audiences.... Show

Children have been used in armed conflicts since time immemorial. Today the world sees this
issue as immoral and reprehensible. However, the use of children in armed conflicts continues.
Statistics produced by various organizations including the United Nations human rights, Human
Rights Watch and Peace Direct suggests that anywhere from 200,000 to 300,000 children under
the age of 18 are serving as child soldiers in 50 different conflicts across 33 different countries.
These young people are often kidnapped or forced into these positions. They are forced into

While this indicates an active interest on the part of world leaders to protect children, it has not
been effective in eradicating the problem.
In Mexico, all young men of the age of 18 or older must serve in the military for one year,
although service is predicated by a lottery system, which determines whether they are to be on
stand by, serve actively, or must do community service. However, with consent, individuals may
sign up at the age of 16. According to reports, there are no child soldiers serving in the armed forces
of Mexico. Where child soldiers are found in Mexico are with the opposition forces in the
Chiapas region and with the paramilitary forces maintained by the drug cartels. It has been noted
that children, especially boys, get recruited by the cartels as young as 11. These children live
primarily in the poorest regions of Mexico. Their families depend on the income these children
generate for their survival. In these areas, the drug cartels behave in a similar fashion as the
warlords of Afghanistan. For the people of these areas, the drug lords are seen as benign and

The Disitive And Positive Impacts Of Globalization
Globalisation
Introduction
Globalisation is considered one of the greatest milestones that have happened to the world. Before
25 years, no one imagines that s/he can buy a shirt or even a mobile cover from a different country
and it will be shipped in few days. Although the term globalisation is founded in the nineteenth
century, the application of this concept become obvious and widely use in the last 25 years
(Dicken, 2007). The next section of this report defines globalisation term. The third section
mentions some of the positive and negative impacts of globalisations. The fourth section discusses
the impacts of globalisation on business operation. Finally, the last section concludes the report.
1.What is globalisation?
Many researchers and organisations have defined the term globalisation. For instance, The United
Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) defines globalisation as the
ongoing process that is linking people, neighbourhoods, cities, regions and countries much more
closely together than they have ever been (UNESCO, 2010). Furthermore, Parker B. defines
gloabalisation as a process whereby worldwide interconnections in virtually every sphere of

Reflection Of Religion
Spirituality is an important factor to consider when providing care to patients. Personal spirituality
can influence one s perspective of health care delivery. Specifically, it can impact how we feel about
sensitive topics such as abortion, euthanasia, and advance directives can affect our ability to
establish genuine connections with patients and families considering these options. Outlined below
are my personal reflections to the Spiritual Assessment questions presented in this assignment.
Role of Religion in My Personal Life
Spirituality comes in different forms and can exist in varying degrees of importance in one s life
and daily routine. The religion I practice is Roman Catholic. My parents, grandparents, and great
grandparents were all very active members of the Catholic Church and so this religion was passed
down to me from them. While I am not as active in the church as I was when I was growing up, I
do hold a very special place in my heart for my faith. I make an effort to place it at the center of
my life by listening to Christian radio in my vehicle and at home. Consequently, it helps me to
pause and make spiritual connections with God, even amidst my busy daily routine. On stressful
days, the music reassures me of God s promises and on happy days it encourages me to thank him
for my blessings. I also attend church on Sundays occasionally and on most Holy days.
Spirituality is not only important for me but for my children as well. As a school age child, I

In the first decade of the 20th century, advances in halftone printing allowed fashion photographs
to be featured in magazines. Fashion photography made its first appearance in French magazines
such as La mode practique. In 1909, CondГ© Nast took over Vogue magazine and also
contributed to the beginnings of fashion photography. Special emphasis was placed on staging

can reshape the future state of healthcare. As a healthcare administrator there are so many different
aspects of healthcare that an individual can be involved in. Administration is the business of
healthcare all while trying to run an organization and the providers within. The best way to
understand the role of an administrator is through an interview. The interview that was conducted

One of Cornelia City s main problems is their water pollution. But, it is one of the better places in
Brazil for education.
Our city is filled with innovative ideas and inventions. Some include new ways of security, ways of
transportation, and new systems of communication. These innovative ideas will help our citizens
in our city stay safe and get to places quickly. For security, we will have drones to give police
officers new visual angles in different situations. The new way of transportation can help our
citizens get to where they need to be in a safe and quick manner. Our mode of transportations will
be cars, buses, and trains. Our new line cars will allow our citizens to get to where they need
quick, and easy. Anyone would have access to the futuristic features in our city. Our city will have a

Analyzing Robert Frost s Mending Wall
Analyzing Robert Frost s Mending Wall Robert Frost was born in San Francisco, California on
March 26th in 1874. Robert Frost s personal life was filled with grief and insecurities. When he
was 11, his father died of tuberculosis, his mother died of cancer years after, and his sister was
confined into a mental institution where she also later died. Elinor and Robert Frost had six
children together. One of their sons died of cholera, one son committed suicide, one of their
daughters died after being born due to puerperal fever, and another daughter of theirs died three
days after birth. Frost s wife developed breast cancer and died of heart failure in 1938. With all of

The main theme in Robert Frost s poem is the description of two very distinct and unique
lifestyles between two neighbors and the idea of maintaining civility and neighbor like barriers.
However, one of the neighbors feel that there is no need to have this wall. The barriers are made
from each neighbor s own perspective. One neighbors barriers are built out of tradition and
habits and the other neighbors perspective reflects reasoning. What I get from the poem is the
actual portrayal of how people literally and metaphorically build walls and barriers between each
other due to some form of tradition or reason. In Mending Wall Frost expresses his thoughts and
questions of boundaries and their worth through a numerous number of literary devices. Frost uses
a variety of literary techniques and devices throughout his poem such as tone, imagery, figure of
speech, diction, form of structure, metrical variation, and symbolization, to help us understand his
feelings and argument upon the barrier between the two neighbors. To generalize Frost s poems,
they are about a specific place, America s New England because Frost spent years as a farmer in
New England. Mending Wall narrates a story drawn from New England. In the poem the narrator, a
New England farmer, contacts his neighbor in the season of spring to rebuild the stone

The And Vocation Questionnaire For College Students
Introduction How is a calling (the search for or the presence of) mediated by student reported
measures such as, academic satisfaction, withdrawal deliberation, and major commitment
among college students? To explore the research questions this review will use the Calling and
Vocation Questionnaire (CVQ; Dik, Eldridge, Steger, Duffy, 2012) to measure calling.
Measurement of the variable of academic satisfaction will be facilitated by a seven item
measure developed by Lent, et al. (2005). Withdrawal deliberation measures will be adapted
from Pleskac, et al. (2009). The variable of major commitment will be measure through the
academic major satisfaction survey (Nauta, 2007). Review of Instrument The CVQ is a 24 item,
self report measure that assesses an individual s belief that they have a calling, and/or the
individual is searching for a calling (Dik, et al., 2012). The instrument s purpose as described by
its authors is to assess calling in the domain of work (Dik, et al., 2012, pg. 243). The CVQ
includes three subscales that relate to the search for a calling (Search Transcendent Summons,
Search Purposeful Work, and Search Prosocial Orientation) and three subscales that relate to the
presence of a calling (Presence Transcendent Summons, Presence Purposeful Work, and Presence

Becoming A Music Producer
.A music producer oversees the production and development of songs, whether they are bringing
together instrumental and vocal elements for sound mixing or ensuring that the people involved
hold a singular vision for that song s success. While there s no formal education required for this
career, it is strongly recommended individuals pursue a 4 year bachelor s degree in music
production. This field is highly competitive with slow job growth, so this career will require you to
master musical elements like sound mixing and digital production to stand out from the crowd.

I Walk Into A Pub
It is six thirty in the evening. I walk into a pub on Madison Avenue, shutting the door behind and
plunging into a blur of blissful silence. The pub is mostly deserted, except for an old man with
ears pointier than my own nose. He is reading a paper and frowning, and he oddly reminds me of
Yoda. He turns to me, smiles and nods in acknowledgement, before hopping down from the stool
and hobbling out into the evening. And then there is the bartender whose real name is Andy, but
I call him the bartender who does not drink. See, he had stopped drinking, albeit temporarily,
back in May. Whiskey. The bartender who does not drink hands me, not my usual beer but, a
good old fashioned whiskey as I make my way to the stool. Forget what the silly physicist say; I
tell you, they have got it all wrong. Sure, there is a center of the universe, but the current
location of this center simply happens to be sitting on a napkin directly in front of me. And it is
called whiskey. A good old fashioned whiskey. And to be frank, it is shaping up to be quite a
challenge what was I thinking when I asked Andy to help me transition from beer to whiskey?
My book is laying open on the perfectly polished wooden surface. Everything is clean and dark
and silent; except that, from the corner of my eye, I can see Andy silently eyeing the glass I
have been nursing for the past hour or so, Do you want me to water it down a bit for you? I shake

The movie showed a large area for soldiers to play soccer together. The opposing war teams
would often go together to play soccer. However, reports show that the conditions of the ground
as well as the barbed wire and more made it very unlikely for an organized game of soccer to
take place. There is no evidence from unit war diaries and regimental histories that the soccer
games have taken place. This is a significant historical inaccuracy because the soccer scene was a
major scene that showed how close the soldiers were able to get. This largely impacts the movie
because like the other evidence mentioned earlier, the audience will not be able to comprehend
the motions of the soldiers if this scene were to be removed. This scene was important because it
emphasized the war relationship and defined how every soldier was just a regular human who is
forced to fight. Furthermore, the movie shows the trenches looking not in bad terms. The movie
showed soldiers being fairly clean and comfortable. The soldiers were seen fairly clean and were
not suffering any diseases. However, in WWI, the trenches were very dirty as it was an area
where soldiers slept, ate, fought, got sick and went to the bathroom in. All of this was done in one

In the case of a tie, the House of Representatives and Senate are conjoined to elect the President
and Vice President. In this case, each is given one vote, making California s whooping population
of 39 billion equal to Wyoming s measly 350,000. This overrules the matter of equal representation
and gives the power to the House and Senate to dictate the outcome of the nation (Doc D).
To conclude, the Electoral College does not give power to the third parties. Because the House
and Senate pretty much revolve around the two party system, the representation given to third
parties makes it nearly impossible to win the outcome of the election. In the case of a given third
party winning over a state, maybe the party would affect the outcome of the candidate s runs.
However, seeing it as it has been established over time, the winning of an election by a third party
is highly unlikely.

Environmental Effects Of Mercury Pollution
1 1. Introduction Mercury pollution is omnipresent in marine ecosystems, and is present in water
column, as well in benthic sediment. Mercury dispersal is a natural process, where mercury
compounds are released from Earths crust by volcano activity or by weathering the rocks
(Ebinghaus et al, 1999). However, the concentration of mercury in the environment, both in air
and water ecosystems, has risen dramatically after 1950 when intensified industrialisation
occurred after World War II. This hazardous element, after being released from industrial plants,
diffuses in rivers and eventually pollutes the oceans (EPA, Unites States Environmental
Protection Agency, 2017). Once in the water, mercury ends to be bioaccumulated in tissue of
marine organisms, where the intoxication from mercury in small or large doses provokes severe
damages, particularly affecting central nervous system and induce chromosomal aberrations
(Porto et al, 2005; Zahir et al, 2005). This prolonged exposure to mercury is more evident in
animals placed higher in food chains, due to mercury biomagnification effect (Wyn,et al, 2009; Al
Reasi et al, 2007). Humans are especially sensitive to mercury toxic effects, being on the top of
food webs (Barbaros et al, 2003; Lavoie et al, 2013). A wide range of industries use mercury or
produce mercury waste during the manufacturing processes, however the major polluter are

between 1939 and 1940, when a female spy plotted to assassinate a secret agent that works for
the puppet government. The director of the film adaptation, Ang Lee makes a commentary on
Chang and Lust, Caution that to me, no writer has ever used the Chinese language as cruelly as
Zhang Ailing (Eileen Chang), and no story of hers is as beautiful or as cruel as Lust, Caution

Wang more evidently (Kuo 46). For example, Chang s father remarried when she was a teenager,

Aggression In Lord Of The Flies
People see young boys as an energetic ball of light, but when something drastic happens, it can
show their inner aggression, and savagery. In William Golding s novel Lord of the Flies, a group
of young boys are trapped on an island, resulting from a plane crash. They slowly start to try and
govern each other, and through that time their personalities start to change. William Golding
represents male aggression as a detrimental characteristic in Lord of the Flies by showing events,
which affects the boy s on the island. The aggression and anger that the boys uphold, sometimes

Voting in National Elections Should be Compulsory Not...
It was in 1928 that universal suffrage had been granted in the United Kingdom. Prior to that time,
people fought to have the right to vote so their opinions could be voiced, yet now we have that
right, voting does not seem so significant. Before deciding whether voting should be compulsory or
optional, understanding what exactly is meant by the term compulsory votingis essential. It is also
important to educate the general public more about politics so they can make an informed decision
if and when they do choose to vote. Finally, there should be a comparison with other countries
which currently enforce compulsory voting to better understand how it would work.

Perhaps making voting compulsory would encourage apathetic and apolitical people to become
more politically active and express their opinions.
There are some people who believe that they are not well informed so they do not know who to
vote for in elections. Others are prepared to express a view without having the slightest
knowledge about the subject (Kavanagh, 1983:13). However, if voting were made compulsory,
political parties would spend less money on getting out the vote , and spend more time on
campaigning their policies (Electoral Reform Society, 2009; IDEA, 2009) and so making the
public more aware of what they are trying to achieve and why people should vote for them. As
less money is spent on (often negative) campaigning, there would be a decrease in the opportunity
for corruption in politics by reducing the need for party fundraising (Faulks, 2001:24). The public
should be more educated about politics and the policies of the parties they may or may not vote for
because the more intense, informed and stable an opinion is, the more likely a person is to act on it
(Kavanagh, 1983:14). Nevertheless, the information provided in educating the public has to be
interesting, something which engages public interest and stimulates debate, as opposed to apathy
and alienation (Heywood, 2007:255) and this would be much easier to do with the enforcement of
compulsory voting rather than politicians

There s Nothing More Dangerous Than Someone Who Wants For...
Banksy states, There s nothing more dangerous than someone who wants to make the world a
better place . Sarcastic no doubt, it is essential to realise that the notion of vandals and graffiti
artists are slightly different. Vandals are miscreants and cause damage and destruction to society
where as graffitiartists though they can be deemed as vandals, compared to absolute destruction of
society, they create art for the society to see. Unluckily for graffiti artists there contrast to vandals
is quite evident throughout the social order and most known in the eyes of the police. Conversely,
stated in the questions quote banksy states that vandals want to make the world a better place
not graffiti artists in general. It appears that perhaps graffiti artists wish to make the world a
better looking place, not as much as vandals wanting to make a destructive wasteland. If police
officers wish to brand the world a better a place they must start in their society and a core issue in
suburban societies is vandals, though this embraces graffiti artists, damaging vandals are most
certainly more of an issue on society than the graffiti artist, perhaps banksy has not given himself
any justice in regards to his quote. The main ideal of this quote is that graffiti is not harming, but
beatifying society, however, to society graffiti is seen as a defacement of private property and not
a form of art for the world to see. Graffiti vandalism. On the other hand, is a complete disregard for

A Splendid Exchange Essay
Dennis BerkA.P. World
Dr. AndrewsSummer Assignment The accelerating pace of international trade is one of the most
dominating, and important features, of contemporary life. Globalization is creating widespread
changes for societies, economics, and governments. Since the invention of the steam engine,
transportation and communication limits have faded away and, with the development of the
Internet, practically disappeared. A case can be made for the proposition that trade, throughout
history, has been the main engine for the development of the world as we know it today. In his
book, A Splendid Exchange: How Trade Shaped the World, William J. Bernstein makes this case.

Today, many people have cell phones and even more people have access to a television, radio, or
the Internet, so, for example, if an event occurs in South Korea in less than an hour news
stations all over the world are reporting about it and have analysts debate about it for hours.
However, back in the 1000 s and 1100 s, if you were living in France, and an event occurs in
China, there is a good chance that the person living in France would never know about it. Also,
in the 1000 s or 1100 s if you were born in a village in England, unless you were a merchant,
chances are that you would not go further than 50 miles in any direction from where you were
born. Transportation in the 1000 s and 1100 s was limited to walking and sea travel. Sea travel
was very dangerous, due to pirates and poorly made ships, so many Europeans didn t risk it.
Today, with the invention of the steam engine, automobile, and airplane to go from New York to
California by plane takes only six hours, although you are traveling around 3000 feet. In today s
world it s no big deal if you travel 3000 feet in one day, but in the 1000 s and 1100 s this was such
a radical thought that no one had ever even wasted their time trying to think about it. William J.
Bernstein asks many questions in his novel. One of them is how goods got from China to Rome.

Barbie Dolls On Young Children Essay
Mattel:
Influences of Barbie dolls on young children Mattel is considered one of the most leading
industry when it comes to the invention of toys and video games. Mattel is also a leading brand
company that researches and develops new toys and then buys or license them from inventors. But
what exactly are they doing to convince us consumers to buy their products? For the past decades
now, Barbie dolls mainly created by Mattel have grown tremendously and have made a huge
impact to children s lives. Kids are influenced by what they see on television and therefore
automatically drawn to imitate whatever characters they seem to be interesting. Their
characters, dressing, and responsibility influence young children to change dramatically. Based
on A Rhetorical Analysis of Amy Lin s Article , the writer Amy Lin argues that Barbie dolls and
all its associated products fosters or encourage a consumerist ethos in young girls (children), I
agree that Barbie dolls not only influence children based on materialism but it also encourages a
false view of reality. In the article by Amy Lin, given that Barbie has become the alpha doll
(Talbot 74) for girls in today s popular culture, young female consumers clearly associate only
good things with Barbie. The product itself has become a tradition handed down from mother to
daughter or a rite of passage that most girls go through. In this way, excessive consumption and
the effects of branding are handed down as well, as Barbie dolls are

Control characters are used when sending data to a printer, monitor, modem, or other device.
XOFF (usually referenced by CTRL+S) is used by the transmitting side at the end of the data
pulsed to say that the transmission batch is complete. XON (usually referenced by CTRL+Q) is
used to start the transmission, and is found at the beginning of the data pulse. (ComputerHope,
2004)
Simplex and duplex
A simplex data transmission is only sent one way and without control characters or error signals.
An example of a simplex transmission would be the alarm codes that are sent to officials at a
burglar alarm company.
A half duplex transmission can send a signal and then receive a signal, but cannot send and receive
at the same time. An example would be a CB radio that can send a message, and then listen for the
response.
A duplex data transmission is capable of sending and receiving data at the same time. A telephone
line is an example of a full duplex transmission system. (Eserver, 2004)
Serial and parallel transmission
Serial transmission is the consecutive transmission of the signal. The characters are transmitted in a
sequence over a single line, rather than simultaneously over two or more lines, as in parallel
transmission.
Parallel transmission are packets of data sent at the same time, usually over more than one
transmission line. This results in faster transmission of data. Many times, this data is sent
sporadically, and start and stop

Critical Narrative And Story Telling Style
English 2201 helped me discover not only myself as a writer, but allowed me to go more in
depth with learning how to write in the field of my intended discipline. This is the first specific
English class I have taken that focused on the style of writing I will need to be familiar in the
future with. Because of that fact, I defiantly enjoyed this class. I feel like my knowledge and ability
to navigate the writingtechniques of my major have improved and my in text citations skills have
improved greatly. Overall this course opened my eyes to the many different styles there are in the
field of Communications, which is my intended field of study, and how to use these styles
correctly and efficiently. I learned an array of new things with every paperand project we
participated in. Our first project was a critical narrative styled paper. Personally when it comes
to writing, I prefer the critical narrative and story telling style because I enjoy putting my
creative mind to work. It is easier for me to write down exactly what I am thinking, rather than
writing research papers with sources to go off of. So, I extremely enjoyed the first project. The
main element I can take away from writing the Category 1: Writing in the Field assignment was
how to conduct a proper interview. I interviewed Marc Morriston, who is the head of marketing at
WNCT News here in Greenville. I conducted the interview based off of what we learned in class
and I ended up making connections that I can use in

War Is A Human Experience That Affects People Essay
War is a human experience that affects people greatly. To some people, war is a source of pride,
but to many it is a horrible, violent, and life changing experience. When war comes up in any
conversation, it evokes negative feelings in a person like pain, hurt, and even sadness. Many
individuals have been direct victims of war and some are indirectly affected but still influenced,
nonetheless. War continues to be a pervasive subject and an inspiration for many artists to draw
upon. Many artists use art to express their feelings about war and get their perception of it out to
the public. A lot of these individuals use art to increase awareness in people and to let them
understand the negative impacts of war. One such person is a woman named Edith Birkin, who is
not only a survivor of the Holocaust, but is also an artist who drew images of the situation and
victims that were caught up in this horrific event. Through her artworks, Birkin is able to vividly
portray her experiences and put on to canvas what happened to the Jewsduring the Second World
War. Her paintings allow individuals to see the conditions during the war that left many people in
pain and scarred for the remainder of their life. In 1933, the rise of Hitler to power initiated the
advent of the Holocaust. He instilled in the minds of German people that they are the dominant
race and that the inferior race, the Jews, should be eradicated to stay superior. He was able to rule

African American Stereotypes
For many years African Americans have been judged and stereotype based on their appearance.
African American women have been stereotyped as women that are angry, loud, argumentative,
entitled, and hypersexual. More simply, people tend to associate African American women with
negative stereotypes. Although women experience stereotypes women that have lighter skin tend to
have more privileges. Women with light skin tend to be more attractive, sophisticated, and
successful. Historically, people with light skin were beneath Caucasians but they were above
African Americans. Light skin people tend to have more privileges because they were closer to
Caucasians which made them better than people with darker skin. Today people still believe that

According to Faith G. Williams author and researcher of Afrocentrism, Hip Hop, and the Black
Queen : Utilizing Hip Hop Feminist Methods to Challenge Controlling Images of Black Women
believe media display stereotypes of African American women can have an impact on women.
Williams believe inaccurate and stereotypical images of Black women continue to plague Black
social media, recreating toxic and controlling images of Black womanhood (211). In other words,
African American women are often negatively displayed in the media, so they tend to experience
stereotypes and discrimination. For instance, African American women are displayed as women
that are angry and loud. Negative images of women can have a social on women, because people
may not want to be around them. Women can be economically affected by negative images and

The Inventions Of The Cotton Gin During The Industrial...
During the Industrial Revolution, many inventions were produced. In 1793, Eli Whitney
invented the cotton gin. Eli Whitney was a farm boy and was trying to make a name for himself
as a manufacturer. About a few days later, he developed a machine to restructure the cotton
industry. The pasteurization was created by Louis Pasteur in 1864. Louis Pasteur was a chemistry
professor and was studying fermentation. He created this invention for beer because there was
trouble with brewing and kept going bad while no one knew why. There is a big time difference
between the year date they were both created. They both have been known for many years and are
still being used to this day. These two inventions have made a huge impact throughout history and
people s lives. Cottonhas been known for many years, but it was not used as much as compared
to today. For many years, the only way to separate the cotton seeds from its fibers was to pull
them out by hand. It was a very slow and hard occupation. The way the cotton gin worked was by;
the cotton needs to fall through the feeder hopper, goes through a place where it comes into the
wire teeth, which seizes the fibers for the seeds and comes out of the machine. Although the cotton
gin was a very advantageous machine, it affected many slaves. It came with a number of
unintended consequences, especially towards slavery. During this era, cotton was the most arduous
plant since the seeds needed to be removed and that was a wearying process.

Development of the Industry
This presence cannot be ignored and has led to the development of the industry. With new
regulations being introduced, such as FoFA, threaten the same earnings as before but experts
believe, from our interviews, will bring in large volumes of business to the industry. The industry
would soon need to adjust to the newer conditions but is expected to develop around it given the
opportunity the wealth pool has to offer.
Further, the sophistication of the industry can be seen by the existence of over 200 Boutique
Investment firms who provide expertise to their niche investors. There is an expectation of
consolidation of these firms in view of the recent changes about slim margins but the market has
seen disruptive firms booming without any old heritage and running successfully. More than 23 of
Australian Investment firms are identified to be the World s Top 500 largest firms. The existence
alone highlights the growth potential of the industry and the future of the industry.
3. Literature Review
The future of the wealth management industry in Australia depends on the reasons that are leading
to the growth of the industry such as superannuation pool, regulatory changes, digitalization, etc.
There are also some challenges faced by the industry due to rising rates, higher contribution to
superannuation, etc which hold back the development and with respect to that, policy makers have
been making recommendations and suggestions which we look into to make a conclusion.

forth. To achieve the title of a friend it takes some work. By becoming a close friend to a few
individuals, I have gained the knowledge of being caring, understanding, and a bit
straightforward at times. In life you have to be caring and understanding. Having these
characteristic might benefit you in getting a job, or keeping relationships with people you don t

This film is character driven, following Ghost Dog?s lonely lifestyle, in a linear pace of time after
the job, which changes the world around him and his master. A man of little speech yet great
expression is shown in his friendship with the Haitian ice cream vendor Raymond (Isaach de

seem to be on the exact same line of thought. The film is narrated by Forest Whitaker reading from
the book ?Hagakure? which segments the film into parts demonstrating the many codes that the
samurai lives by; through his dedication to this book and meditation, Ghost Dog remains in control
of his mind state and surrounding environment. This stands apart from the underworld of crime the

Marine Mammals in Captivity Imagine you are a young orca living out in the ocean, enjoying

perform tricks for money for the rest of your life. Except you are not the one getting paid, but the
people that captured you. There are so many anti slavery organizations in the world today and we
are all frightened by the thought of being held in captivity. While we fight against slavery, we do
not realize that we actually support it at the same time, just a different form of slavery. Although
killer whaleshows are just an enjoyable form of entertainment, keeping whales in captivity is a
cruel way of making money which risks the lives of whales and the people that work with them.
Thousands of people every day pay money to see these shows, but they just don t realize how
much do these animals really suffer behind the glass. Keeping whales in captivity is a very brutal
way of making money. Many people do not realize that whales are not just fish; even though they
live in the ocean, they are actually considered as mammals, and are part of the dolphin family
(Killer Whale1). Unlike goldfish and turtles that we can keep in aquariums, killer whalesare huge,
wild animals that are meant to live in the sea. It has been documented that no fewer than 21 of the

Impact Of Hilton Hotel
Introduction
Tourism is one of the most international industries. Globalisation is the gradual forging of links
between groups and societies until they finally reach around the globe in several directions
(Smith, D,2006). Globalization is one of the serious challenges facing managers today. It is
critical to develop services that are able to satisfy a highly diverse customer base (Ueltschy et al.,
2007) Now to keep up with the rising levels of globalization in the hotel industry, there s a need to
understand not only the positive, but also the negative impacts of globalisation. I ll also talk about

brands and seek to use them globally with an intention of increasing profits. Once its established as
a global brand, the company has successfully created an international image that can lead to
increased efficiency through branded marketing efforts and cost savings on a much larger scale.
Nowadays with an increase in international travel, the competition among international hotel

Identifying The Unknown Bacteria From A Mixed Culture
Identification of Enterobacter Aerogenes
Annie Banh
November 15, 2014
Jason Atkins
Unknown #19
The purpose of this study is to identify an unknown bacterium from a mixed culture. We identified
the unknown bacteria through different biochemical tests and identified the many metabolic
capabilities of the bacteria. Studying and discovering unknown bacteria is very important in the
health field as it may lead to new medicines and innovations for current, existing diseases as well as
any upcoming diseases. The discovery of unknown bacteria is very useful in the pharmaceutical
industry, as most of the products prepared are made based on these unknown organisms.
The biochemical tests used to identify the unknown bacteria included: phenol red broth test
(glucose, lactose, and sucrose), methyl red and Voges Proskauer test, citrate test, indole test, H2S
production test, urea test and motility test. The PR broths are used to differentiate members of
Enterobacteriaceae and to distinguish these members from other gram negative rods. The PR
broths are useful in determining a bacterium s fermentation abilities. If the bacterium is able to
utilize the carbohydrate, then the acid production from fermentation lowers pH, which in turn turns
the broth yellow. However, if the bacterium is unable to utilize the carbohydrate, but does utilize the
peptone, which produces the by product ammonia, the medium will have a rise in pH turning the
broth pink.
The methyl red and Voges Proskauer tests

Short Story Of Tom Derren s War
Tom Derren stood, fear and excitement enveloping him every step he took. Men, halt! A clear
voice rang out. Almost everyone stopped, a few stumbling from their wounds. Today, we all

cries came in agreement. They were signaled to move on, and Tom clutched his musket tightly to
his chest. To most he was still just a child only 16 years old. However, he had lied to the General.
A sense of shame crawled on his back, but he shook it off. No matter, he couldn t back out now.

Many men fell around him, blood painting the ground a burgundy color. More and more british

Washington cried. Aller de l avant! General Lafayette ordered. Tom wished that he d payed more
attention when his mother tried very hard to get him to listen when she taught french. Tom fired his
musket at another british soldier. He gasped in pain as a bullet dug into his shoulder, throwing him
to the ground. Red, hot blood dripped from his arm. He winced in pain and clenched his jaw. Tom
grabbed his shoulder in a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding. He began to slip into
unconsciousness as he lost more blood.
Tom flashed back to Christmas Eve. General Washington had come up with a brilliant but risky
plan. He remembered crossing the freezing, icy river in the early morning hours. Even though most
thought it was impossible, they were able to capture the fort with ease. It was the first win Tom
had ever experienced while fighting the war. It was a strangely fond memory in his mind, despite
everything that happened so far.
Tom awoke in a cot, practically springing himself out of it. Sir, please calm down! It s alright! A
woman rushed over. Her hair was in a tight bun, with frizzy strands sticking out of it. She sighed
and took out a piece of paper. Did we... win? Tom asked nervously. The woman handed his the

Some phobias inhibit the quality of life of a person and make it difficult for them to gain employment or education. Some effects of phobias include: Life Limiting: Depending on what the phobia is, it may be found a struggle to run errands, go out with friends or working every day. These limitations can make the person feel isolated. It also makes it difficult keeping friends and develops doubts on why he/she are not like everybody else. Embarrassments: Phobias can cause awkward and embarrassing situations. These kinds of phobias are difficult to manage due to the underlying fear of humiliation. • 3. The Rejection-Abuse Cycle Psychology Domestic abuse often follows a certain pattern and that pattern is an infinite vicious cycle. There are two types of abuse cycle. The name given for the first one this merciless cycle is The Rejection Abuse Cycle (Brown, James, Taylor, 2010, p.280 307), which can be related to social norms. The pattern is separated into four steps; (1) rejection, (2) threat to self, (3) defence against threat, (4) abuse. Rejection happens when the man becomes aware of his partner is rejecting him. Therefore, it triggers the man s previous experience of being rejected. After feeling rejected, the man will sense a threat to his ego, evoking shame because social norms does not allow men to be rejected by a woman (threat against self). To protect... PTSD is generally separated into four types; intrusive memories, avoidance, negative changes in thinking and mood, and changes in physical and emotional reactions. First, intrusive memories happens when the woman relives the traumatic event. On a long term effect, women will be scared to get into a relationship or are afraid because they do not want the abuse to happen again. Second, avoidance is when the woman does not want to go back to places or do activities they did with their abuser because it reminds them of the abuse. On a long term effect, women will prefer to stay home, but that will only lead to depression and having suicidal thoughts. Third, is when women get out of the abuse relationship, they will have a negative thought about the world and people around them, they will lose faith in people, so they will choose to stay home and avoid contact. They would also need to increase sales by 8.3% or $1 million to cover the cost of increase in advertising. Cutting price by 20% with the same variable costs would bring their contribution margin down to 19%. To get the same net contribution of $4.2 million using their current new contribution margin, they will have to generate $22,105,264.16 in sales which is far above their past sales of $12 million and creating more volume to increase sales at this lower cost is not feasible which just one manufacturer in the Dallas Fort Worth area. (exhibit 1.3) JanMar needs to focus not on cutting prices but positioning themselves differently from competitors as a superior quality and service company since they are a privately owned, focused just in the market of southwest United States. 3) Increasing the sales force could have a positive effect if the sales representative is assigned to the non Dallas Fort Worth area since account penetration there is only 16% and focusing on the Do it Yourselfers because of the amount of sales they accumulate in that area. In a world caught up in mass media and consumerism, there is an underlying argument that there is a lack of positive social interaction. With the ability to say anything without having a face to face conversation, hate is easier than ever to spread and people can avoid each other yet still interact . According to Dolan, Rock, in particular, has always had an uneasy relationship with mass culture, since it faces the problem of espousing the aesthetics of rebellion and countercultural ideals while at the same time depending on the mechanisms of mass culture for dissemination and distribution. In the case of the bandOh Wonder, they attempt to use their fame to spread ideas of love and compassion. Oh Wonder is the singer/songwriter duo of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht hailing from London England. Each armed with a shovel they challenge is to dig for as long as you can. The nightly competition attracts a nameless and silent protagonist, an office worker who spends his days fantasizing about the act of digging. He must face some fierce competition in order to make it to the top and beat the man who silently watches over the event. Digger is an example that in the world of the absurd anything can become a competition. This short film which features no dialogue and a lot of digging is more fun in execution than concept. The late night rituals the men perform in the short makes it feel as if this is just an event that has been and always will be, steeped in a deep tradition with synchronized dances and an unspoken language that you have to dig to prove your worth. Although it is hard to imagine this drawn out into feature length as a short film it is very successful at creating this odd, funny yet endearing culture of a bunch of businessmen digging holes in the middle of the forest while being cheered on by their peers. Outlined below are my personal reflections to the Spiritual Assessment questions presented in this assignment. Role of Religion in My Personal Life Spirituality comes in different forms and can exist in varying degrees of importance in one s life and daily routine. The religion I practice is Roman Catholic. My parents, grandparents, and great grandparents were all very active members of the Catholic Church and so this religion was passed down to me from them. While I am not as active in the church as I was when I was growing up, I do hold a very special place in my heart for my faith. I make an effort to place it at the center of my life by listening to Christian radio in my vehicle and at home. Consequently, it helps me to pause and make spiritual connections with God, even amidst my busy daily routine. On stressful days, the music reassures me of God s promises and on happy days it encourages me to thank him for my blessings. I also attend church on Sundays occasionally and on most Holy days. • 30. Environmental Effects Of Mercury Pollution 1 1. Introduction Mercury pollution is omnipresent in marine ecosystems, and is present in water column, as well in benthic sediment. Mercury dispersal is a natural process, where mercury compounds are released from Earths crust by volcano activity or by weathering the rocks (Ebinghaus et al, 1999). However, the concentration of mercury in the environment, both in air and water ecosystems, has risen dramatically after 1950 when intensified industrialisation occurred after World War II. This hazardous element, after being released from industrial plants, diffuses in rivers and eventually pollutes the oceans (EPA, Unites States Environmental Protection Agency, 2017). Once in the water, mercury ends to be bioaccumulated in tissue of marine organisms, where the intoxication from mercury in small or large doses provokes severe damages, particularly affecting central nervous system and induce chromosomal aberrations (Porto et al, 2005; Zahir et al, 2005). This prolonged exposure to mercury is more evident in animals placed higher in food chains, due to mercury biomagnification effect (Wyn,et al, 2009; Al Reasi et al, 2007). Humans are especially sensitive to mercury toxic effects, being on the top of food webs (Barbaros et al, 2003; Lavoie et al, 2013). Her grandmother was the daughter of a great politician and diplomat, Li Hung Chang in Qing Dynasty. Living in a noble family did not lead Chang to a happy childhood, though. Chang s mother left Chang and her younger brother when they were both young. Thereafter, Chang suffered from domestic violence caused by her stepmother and drug addicted father. Nevertheless, such tragic life did not stop Chang from being a talented and productive novelist. Lust, Caution has been written in the 1950s. It is believed that Chang was inspired by a historical incident happened between 1939 and 1940, when a female spy plotted to assassinate a secret agent that works for the puppet government. The director of the film adaptation, Ang Lee makes a commentary on Chang and Lust, Caution that to me, no writer has ever used the Chinese language as cruelly as Zhang Ailing (Eileen Chang), and no story of hers is as beautiful or as cruel as Lust, Caution (Peng vii). If we examine the early life experience of Eileen Chang, we can see her life has something in common with the protagonist in Lust, Caution, Wang Chia Chih. For example, they were both from Shanghai, fled to Hong Kong at the beginning of WWII, and went back to Shanghai after the Pacific War broke out (Zhang et al. 237). In order to make Chang and Wang bear more resemblances, the film even adds a few plots to make the kinship between Chang and Wang more evidently (Kuo 46). In William Golding s novel Lord of the Flies, a group of young boys are trapped on an island, resulting from a plane crash. They slowly start to try and govern each other, and through that time their personalities start to change. William Golding represents male aggression as a detrimental characteristic in Lord of the Flies by showing events, which affects the boy s on the island. Prior to that time, people fought to have the right to vote so their opinions could be voiced, yet now we have that right, voting does not seem so significant. Before deciding whether voting should be compulsory or optional, understanding what exactly is meant by the term compulsory votingis essential. It is also important to educate the general public more about politics so they can make an informed decision if and when they do choose to vote. Finally, there should be a comparison with other countries which currently enforce compulsory voting to better understand how it would work. The term compulsory voting is a misnomer as it is impossible to monitor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps making voting compulsory would encourage apathetic and apolitical people to become more politically active and express their opinions. There are some people who believe that they are not well informed so they do not know who to vote for in elections. Others are prepared to express a view without having the slightest knowledge about the subject (Kavanagh, 1983:13). However, if voting were made compulsory, political parties would spend less money on getting out the vote , and spend more time on campaigning their policies (Electoral Reform Society, 2009; IDEA, 2009) and so making the public more aware of what they are trying to achieve and why people should vote for them. As less money is spent on (often negative) campaigning, there would be a decrease in the opportunity for corruption in politics by reducing the need for party fundraising (Faulks, 2001:24). The public should be more educated about politics and the policies of the parties they may or may not vote for because the more intense, informed and stable an opinion is, the more likely a person is to act on it (Kavanagh, 1983:14). Nevertheless, the information provided in educating the public has to be interesting, something which engages public interest and stimulates debate, as opposed to apathy and alienation (Heywood, 2007:255) and this would be much easier to do with the enforcement of compulsory voting rather than politicians ... Sarcastic no doubt, it is essential to realise that the notion of vandals and graffiti artists are slightly different. Vandals are miscreants and cause damage and destruction to society where as graffitiartists though they can be deemed as vandals, compared to absolute destruction of society, they create art for the society to see. Unluckily for graffiti artists there contrast to vandals is quite evident throughout the social order and most known in the eyes of the police. Conversely, stated in the questions quote banksy states that vandals want to make the world a better place not graffiti artists in general. It appears that perhaps graffiti artists wish to make the world a better looking place, not as much as vandals wanting to make a destructive wasteland. If police officers wish to brand the world a better a place they must start in their society and a core issue in suburban societies is vandals, though this embraces graffiti artists, damaging vandals are most certainly more of an issue on society than the graffiti artist, perhaps banksy has not given himself any justice in regards to his quote. Today, many people have cell phones and even more people have access to a television, radio, or the Internet, so, for example, if an event occurs in South Korea in less than an hour news stations all over the world are reporting about it and have analysts debate about it for hours. However, back in the 1000 s and 1100 s, if you were living in France, and an event occurs in China, there is a good chance that the person living in France would never know about it. Also, in the 1000 s or 1100 s if you were born in a village in England, unless you were a merchant, chances are that you would not go further than 50 miles in any direction from where you were born. Transportation in the 1000 s and 1100 s was limited to walking and sea travel. Sea travel was very dangerous, due to pirates and poorly made ships, so many Europeans didn t risk it. Today, with the invention of the steam engine, automobile, and airplane to go from New York to California by plane takes only six hours, although you are traveling around 3000 feet. In today s world it s no big deal if you travel 3000 feet in one day, but in the 1000 s and 1100 s this was such a radical thought that no one had ever even wasted their time trying to think about it. Mattel is also a leading brand company that researches and develops new toys and then buys or license them from inventors. But what exactly are they doing to convince us consumers to buy their products? For the past decades now, Barbie dolls mainly created by Mattel have grown tremendously and have made a huge impact to children s lives. Kids are influenced by what they see on television and therefore automatically drawn to imitate whatever characters they seem to be interesting. Their characters, dressing, and responsibility influence young children to change dramatically. Many individuals have been direct victims of war and some are indirectly affected but still influenced, nonetheless. War continues to be a pervasive subject and an inspiration for many artists to draw upon. Many artists use art to express their feelings about war and get their perception of it out to the public. It was a very slow and hard occupation. The way the cotton gin worked was by; the cotton needs to fall through the feeder hopper, goes through a place where it comes into the wire teeth, which seizes the fibers for the seeds and comes out of the machine. • 55. Identifying The Unknown Bacteria From A Mixed Culture Identification of Enterobacter Aerogenes Annie Banh November 15, 2014 Jason Atkins Unknown #19 The purpose of this study is to identify an unknown bacterium from a mixed culture. We identified the unknown bacteria through different biochemical tests and identified the many metabolic capabilities of the bacteria. Studying and discovering unknown bacteria is very important in the health field as it may lead to new medicines and innovations for current, existing diseases as well as any upcoming diseases. The discovery of unknown bacteria is very useful in the pharmaceutical industry, as most of the products prepared are made based on these unknown organisms. The biochemical tests used to identify the unknown bacteria included: phenol red broth test (glucose, lactose, and sucrose), methyl red and Voges Proskauer test, citrate test, indole test, H2S production test, urea test and motility test. The PR broths are used to differentiate members of Enterobacteriaceae and to distinguish these members from other gram negative rods. The PR broths are useful in determining a bacterium s fermentation abilities. If the bacterium is able to utilize the carbohydrate, then the acid production from fermentation lowers pH, which in turn turns the broth yellow. However, if the bacterium is unable to utilize the carbohydrate, but does utilize the peptone, which produces the by product ammonia, the medium will have a rise in pH turning the broth pink. The methyl red and Voges Proskauer tests ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
