7. Why?
When we were producing our film we had to think of how we
will promote it to our audience to make them aware. This
consisted of generating a movie trailer, poster and magazine
cover. When doing this we felt that was important for us to
create a brand for ourselves. We did this through keeping
certain things the same throughout all of our media package.
These were things such as the typeface, the doll, the colour
scheme and the amount of information given.
8. Typeface
Throughout all of our media products we have used the same font, or typeface,
this was intentional. We did this as it assists in the generation of our brand. It is
important that we build a brand for the movie as ‘it is a persons gut feeling
about a product, service or company’ as Marty Newmeyer of the brand gap
expressed it. It creates an identity that resonates with the consumer, through
using the same typeface it is clear that all of the media products we have
created belong to the same brand. Through the typeface being in every media
product that we have made it allows it to be distinct from other productions
and media products. With the infinite number of choices offered to consumers
these days, many companies are looking for unique ways to connect
emotionally with consumers and we have decided to do this through the use of
our typeface.
9. Do
ll
Another way in which we have established our brand is through featuring the
doll in each of our media products. Due to us featuring the doll in all of the
media products of the promotional package we have established our brand.
This is effective as it allows the audience to make the link between the images
of the doll to the production of Pengyeulan. For us we felt that it was vital that
we used the doll as the ‘centre of attention’ for bother our poster and
magazine as it is ‘the face’ of Pengyeulan. A typical convention for magazine
covers is to have a real life character featured of the front cover to represent
the production. However we have decided to go against this convention as we
felt that using the doll on the magazine cover would allow us to further
develop out brand. This is due to it being unique to the Pengyeulan
production.
10. Colour
Scheme
The colour scheme throughout all of our product were dull, in both the
trailer and the magazine black whites and reds are used. We decided on
this as it will allow our audience to understand that the doll has links to
a more ‘old fashioned’ period of time. The reasoning for the red text
throughout both the poster and the magazine is due to red often being
associated with things such as danger and emergencies. We felt that this
would allow the audience to understand what kind of situations to
expect from the production. Through the use of black, white and reds
we were able to help generate a brand for the production, many posters
and magazines are colourful and some-what bright, but the use of white
black and greys allows us to be unique.
