3. Target Audience Profile
• Its for people who enjoy and have a passion
for music and fashion, age range would be
around 15-27 as that is the type of people
who mainly enjoy the type of music and
fashion we will be talking about in the
podcast.
7. Existing Product 1
The podcast set doesn’t look the most
professional and appears to be slightly
messy/cluttered. I think this is done
intentionally though as the types of
people adam22 (the host of the
nojumper podcast) interviews are a
part of the underground scene, this
means that the people coming to
watch these interviews will most likely
also be a part of or be interested in
the underground scene. So, to keep
them entertained I think that its
appropriate to make the studio
maintain an underground esc
aesthetic which will intrigue the fans.
There aren't really any effects or post production used
its more of just a raw unedited/uncut interview. The
only thing that could be classified as post production is
the implementation of text on the screen at the start
and end of the interview which is used to advertise the
guests social medias. The light source of the set isn’t
really visible but it just looks like its coming from a
normal light from somewhere inside the room. In terms
of costumes and clothing the guests and podcast host
just seem to be wearing everyday clothes. Props include
microphone to record audio, microphone stands, audio
mixer, laptop and no jumper banner ornament. It makes
the audience want to watch because of the people
starring in the interview, XXXTENTACION is the main
guest on the interview and he is a very well known
artist who made a huge impact on the music industry so
the name itself is sure to bring a lot of fans to anything
he is involved with.
8. Existing Product 2
The studio is very professional looking and
everything is tidy and organized, angle is
just a medium-long shot including the 2
hosts of the podcast and the guest. There
aren’t many effects used but in post
production they implement an intro
screen to the podcast at the start and also
include a highlight reel at the start
showing some of the best bits of the
podcast to keep people excited for what's
to come. Lightning appears to be coming
from multiple sources, one from the sign
on the wall with the lights behind it and
another light source from under the desk.
Costume again is just everyday clothes, props
include tv on the wall, microphones with
microphone stands and a cufboys show sign on
the wall. It makes the audience want to watch
the podcast because of the high end production
style of the set and the editing in the podcast,
also the personality of the host is rather
entertaining and I think that would bring a lot of
people to there content. Another way the
podcast pulls in fans to watch is through the
types of people they interview (musicians with
a lot of fans)
9. Existing Product 3
The studio in this example takes on a more
professional tone and looks very organised,
the microphones are high quality and the
soundproofing foam on the walls will also
elevate the overall quality of the podcast.
The angle is positioned in a way that fully
displays everyone in the podcast which is
obviously a good thing. Not really many
effects used in the podcast but there is a
bit of post production, for example,
whenever someone is talking in the
podcast the camera angle will be focused
on them and if someone else starts talking
it will cut to them instead. The main light
Source of the set isn’t actually visible but I
think its safe to say that its just a simple light
bulb or something similar. The guests of the
podcast and the host are arranged in a way
that differentiates them, both the guests are
on the right side sat together and the host is
sat on his own on the left side, this makes it
very easy to identify who the guests are and
whose being interviewed. The guests of the
podcast are wearing clothes that fit there
music aesthetic, (underground hip hop/metal),
also one of the guests is wearing his music
groups merchandise in order to promote it.
Props include, microphones, skateboard deck
and posters. Colours are mainly black although
there are small hints of red, purple and yellow.
I think this podcast makes people want to
watch with the usage of precise camera angles
that allow the person watching to fully digest
all of the content, including the guests, host
and also the set, a clean and professionally
made piece of media is normally highly
desirable.

The studio in this podcast is very ghetto, it isn’t actually a studio it’s a small area with a few
seats to sit on. Clearly its not as professional or high budget as most other podcast/interview
examples I have used but the set aesthetic perfectly fits and compliments the artists type of
character and music. The 2 people being interviewed are ‘XXXTENTACION’ and ‘Ski Mask The
Slump God’ and at this point in there career the music they where making was very
underground, gritty and low production, so, I think this interview set is perfect for them and
works very well. The angles used are also not the most professional as they don’t
encapsulate both of the guests and the cameraman has to keep moving from one to the
other depending on which one is speaking. There aren’t any effects used in the interview,
but, there is quite a bit of post production, for example, the questions that the host asks are
displayed in a text format on screen to make clear what the topic of conversation is at all
times. There is no man made lightning used, the light of day is the main source of light. As for
costumes the guests are wearing simple t shirts, flannel shirt, jewellery, hat, black jeans and
other accessories like rings etc. No props are visible on set, colours include green, yellow, and
a light blueish type colour.

• I think people would want to watch this podcast/interview because it has a genuine feel to it,
the set as already established is not very professional or high budget, in fact it’s a small
garden area with no light source apart from the sun, the camera positioning and editing is
also very ghetto and non professional. This makes it easier to connect and relate to the artists
being interviewed which for a lot of people in the underground scene is a must have in order
for them to enjoy a persons music.
Pre production- questions being
displayed in text format.
12. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
13. Research Analysis
• One common feature that all of the research products (apart from the last one)
have in common is the display of every member in the interview at all times,
including the host and the guests, 3 out of 4 of the products I used for research
do this. I think they do this so the person watching can fully understand the
opinions and statements made by everyone included, facial expressions and body
language can highly alter the way someone perceives what someone may be
saying, so making it so the guests are fully visible also makes the viewer fully able
to understand the topics of conversation. This will make the entire piece of
media more desirable. Another common feature amongst the research products
is the clear differentiation of guests and hosts. In every research product the
host/hosts are sat apart from the guests, for example, across the table or not in
shot at all. This feature is most likely used to make consuming the podcast as
easy and efficient as possible, some people who are new to a certain podcast
may not be aware of who is being interviewed and who is doing the interviewing,
So by establishing who is who from the start based on position and introduction
of the people on set is a good way to inform the viewer.
14. Research analysis 2
• In terms of what aspects of the research I will include in my
own piece of work, I will definitely be using the positioning of
the cast where the host and guests are apart as I think its
easier for the viewer to consume the product this way. I will
also be displaying all of the people on set at all times so that I
can fully capture the atmosphere and emotions being
presented in conversation.
