Rhetorical Analysis Essay The work that I chose to write about is "The Homeless and Their
Children" taken from Jonathan Kozol's book, "Rachel and Her Children". This is a story of a woman
whom Kozol calls Laura and her four children that lived in a run–down hotel room in 1985. The
intended audience for this piece was pretty much anyone interested in reading this particular book.
He wrote it for the general American public. I believe that Kozol felt bad for the women and their
families that had to live in this government sponsored hell–hole. He describes Laura as a "broken

He seemed to be feeling down and depressed for Laura. He describes how there is a "spindly
geranium plant" in the window of Laura's room and how "the blowing snow hits the panes and blurs
the dirt" (Kozol 3). It just seems that the reality and sadness of the situation are really setting in. The
detailed descriptions, such as when he describes Laura and her children, as I mentioned in paragraph
two of this paper, that Kozol puts into his piece also help him to set this sympathetic tone. Kozol is
also very descriptive about the way the hotel looks and the management of the hotel. He wants us to
be right there with him, Laura and her children. He wants this so that we feel what he feels for her
and also to feel what Laura is feeling. On a personal note, I would like to read the rest of this book
and possibly other works that Mr. Kozol did. In discussion with other classmates, I discovered that

My Travel Experience : My Experience In My Life
In the past sixteen years in my life I have traveled to fifteen states and one other country. I traveled
across the United States to New York, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia,
North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C, Wisconsin, and

"Ahh", Ronnie yawns, as he gets up for his first day of school. The door creeks open as his mom
peeks inside to check if Ronnie is awake.
His mom in her calm soothing voice asks, "Are you excited for your first day of school?" Ronnie
sees in his mother's eyes that she herself was excited for him to start middle school.
Ronnie replies, "Not really." He was, however, excited to see his friends that he hasn't seen since

The Importance Of School Break
When I hear one say, specifically Roman Hebel, "With school out of the picture, I can be stress free
and happy" it evokes many questions and stress inside. How does one's stress disappear simply due
to school being put on the back burner? Yes, most homework responsibilities are not of concern, but
our school break is only nine days. With nine days, I don't believe that all individuals including
himself are duty and completely worry free. I don't know about most people, but merely because
school is put on hold does not relieve all the worries in the back of my mind. Those issues will
always be their haunting me and producing stress until they are resolved, and trust me I do not want
to deal with them over a well deserved break. However, this is all just apart of life whether we
attempt to enjoy the free time given to us or not. With that being said, the short interruption with
school does not create a stress free environment where I am allowed to enjoy myself. Whether it's
the last minute Christmas baking, gift wrapping or a cramped work schedule, I do not categorize that
as a way to enjoy my break as Roman makes clear in his paper. I find pleasure in the easy aspects
such as the hour long naps and drinking a steaming cup of hot cocoa by the blazing fire. I only wish
to be like Roman over the break when he expresses, "...having less responsibilities..." in his paper.
Because frankly those pleasures are not a reality for myself this Christmas break. I don't know

My First Day Vacation Essay
Vacation an extended period of recreation, especially one spent away from home or in traveling.

We first packed our bags for the trip. Then we drove to the airport. Although we got there a little late
the line wasn't that big We also had special tickets which had us go to the front of the line.
It was my first time ever riding an aircraft my mom said to chew gum for, my ears so they won't
pop. well the first plane I rode was a little smaller than the other aircraft I would ride but it was still

other one. All the window covers were down the whole flight because it had tv's built into the seats

the ISR decided in this case. However, we have determined that the Harrell's have not violated the
14–day provision and should therefore be allowed deductions for rental expenses exceeding rental

and vacations with the whole family to far–off places. We all envision lazy afternoons relaxing on

My Life At The Hotel Room
One day in summer of 2015, my family and I went on a little vacation to Dallas,Texas. My mom and

Allocated school and class time, instructional time, and academic learning time. Allocated school
and class time are hours of non–instructional activities. Instructional time should be devoted to
formal instruction and learning, but not with poor teaching inattention. Lastly, is academic learning
time when the students are actually learning. The important and obvious distinction makes in clear
why and extended–time proposal must focus on providing the kind of time such as instructional and
academic time, rather than just adding hours in general. Extending and improving the use of
instructional time could undoubtedly benefit all students. But studies suggest that extended time
may matter more for some students than others. Poor and minority students are less likely than their
more affluent peers that benefit from resources out of school. Evidence from the beginning school
study (BBS), a long study that began in 1982 by sociologists Doris Entwisle and Karl Alexander,
shows that lower–income lose ground to higher–income children over time because of what
researches call summer learning loss.
Some strategies for extending learning is more beneficial than others. Most calculations suggest that
a 10% increase in time would require a 6% to 7% increase in cost. Cost calculations are based
largely on increased school staffing, but often do not consider other costs such as those for
