Chapter 4 review
1. Chapter 4 Review:
A literature review is an important part of conducting individuals research. According to the Alan
Bryman & Emma Bell, “Literature review provides the basis on which an individual justifies his/her
research questions and build research design.” It also helps to collect data and analyze the data
informed way. Sometimes when conducting a research, the researcher could not specify his boundary.
Main reason behind writing an literature review is to clarify that boundary and make a judgment about
what to include or exclude from the subject area. Another reason to write a literature review is to refine
the researchquestions.
According to Tranfield, Denyer, and Smart (2003: 209), “A replicable, scientific c and transparent
process, in other words, a detailed technology, that aims to minimize bias through exhaustive
literature searches of published and unpublished studies and by providing an audit trail of the
reviewer’s decisions, procedures, and conclusions.” On the other hand, Narrative Review is described as
to add existing knowledge within the review. We can easily compare between systematic and narrative
research review. Systematic is a specific area, where narrative board. Systemic review points on
comprehensive sources. The search method isexplicit. The narrative research method is biased. Nothing
specified clearly. The systematic review focuses on critical evaluation whereas a narrative review is
variable. Most of the systematic review is based on quantitive research, the narrative is sometimes
oftenqualitative.
There are several ways of finding the existing literature on the particular topic. Firstly to find out if there
are any topic which is already discussed it. Then which concepts or theories are being developed for this.
The research method that applied to the literature. The inconsistencies and unanswered research
question that are yet to be solved. If all these question answered, then it is possible to find the existing
literature aboutthe particulartopic.
Plagiarism means to copy someone's work/idea and pass are as his own work/idea. When someone
copies any idea without reference then it can be treat as plagiarism. According to an online dictionary,
many people define plagiarism as literary theft. In some cases, copying word without properly give
credit is considered as plagiarism. Without a proper reference, anything that is put in writing and mark
as his own can be treat like plagiarism. Not only plagiarism happens in literature writing,it can happen in
music, video, images, speech delivery and others. Plagiarism is a sensitive issue and could be a
completely annoying matter to handle. To avoid plagiarism, the researcher or writer should properly
reference his/her work. So that the source of his work can properly understandable and can be easy to
find the sources and cross-checking. Besides, my personal opinion is, plagiarism is an ethical issue. A
researcher may have to give countless effort to write a topic. Any person can not copy the writings and
put it without giving the credit to the researcher. Rather acknowledge the source of idea or writing also
showthat the personistryinghard to make his/herresearchtopic.
