A skillful rescue robot
* Recently, a rescue robot is often picked up in
computer science field.
* A rescue robot is a machine to rescue people
for disaster situations.
Reason I chose this topic
* A big earthquake hit our country 6 years ago
from now.
* Some robot were used then to rescue people.
Contents of this experiment
* Install remote-control function by using a drone
in order to rescue people even if danger situation.
* Confirm level of performance by verification tests
that represented disaster sites.
Group of this experiment
* Kobe University
* Osaka University
* Tohoku University
* The University of Tokyo
* Tokyo Institute of Technology
So, Japanese University involved in this experiment.
ImPACT
* This experiment was used ImPACT(Impulsing
Paradigm Challenge through Disruptive Technologies
Program) s Tough Robotics Challenge Program.
* ImPACT is a program to create useful society with
science and technology.
Drone and Rescue robot ->
Rescue robot problem
* It takes many costs to develop rescue robots. So,
it is difficult to conduct an experiment.
* A rescue robot can t judge what should do
immediately. So, it lacks of the ability to judge
correctly differ from human.
Elemental technology 1
* Heavy power machines with high inertia by
achieving target values regarding location.
* In addition, speed through fine tuning and by
controlling pressures on a cylinder at high speeds.
->Values indicate ability level
of rescue robot
Elemental technology 2
* Estimating external load of multiple hydraulically-
driven robot from oil pressure of each hydraulic
cylinder.
->Liquid energy turn into
mechanic energy
Elemental technology 3
* Measuring high frequency vibration by a force
sensor installed at the forearm of the robot.
->Remote controlling by allocating frequency
Elemental technology 4
* Flying a drone to the place of the operator's
choice and obtaining image information.
-> Accurate operation based on these information
Elemental technology 5
* A rescue robot observe around area by using 4
fish-eye cameras mounted on itself.
-> Operator can find situation in real time
surrounding the robot.
Elemental technology 6
*Install a far-infrared ray camera capable of
viewing with long-wavelength light.
-> Operator can operate the robot while assessing
the situation even under bad weather conditions
like fog.
Why rescue robots picked up?
 Some rescue robots have been used in disaster
situations like earthquake. In fact, some robots
were used at the time of the Great East Japan
Earthquake in 2011. But, engineers found
problems with robots through this earthquake.
 So, they have to focus on improvement of
rescue robots in order to protect people from
disasters.
Summary
* We should have feeling to develop useful robots
for many people.
* We can develop by using own knowledge learning
at the university.
* It is very important to develop the latest robots in
the future.
