The social interaction theory is the theory that aggression is used as an adverse social influence, a
decision for a what's perceived as a more positive outcome (Tedeschi & Felson 1994). An example
of this would be blackmailing someone to get them to do something for you. These theories of

The objective of this study is to examine the differences between the vegan and omnivore diet and
to study the relationship of these diets to body composition, blood lipids, and the serum hormones
vitamin D and parathyroid hormone. As seen previously, those eating an omnivore diet consumed
significantly more dietary protein than those consuming a vegan diet (2; 3). The values we observed
for dietary protein in both the vegan and the omnivore groups were similar to those seen by Hadded

study of vegan women in Finland found vegans to be deficient in vitamin D intake without
supplements or adequate sunlight exposure through vacations in sunny locations (12). The vegan

incorporating enough vitamin D in their diets possibly using fortified foods and supplements; 2)
they were exposed to adequate sunlight or 3) a combination of both.

possible, the only marginal nutrient we found in the vegan group is calcium intake. There are
several possible reasons for this difference. Vegans may be more health conscious, physically more
active, and have a greater understanding of the role of nutrition in general health. As a result, they
may also consume more supplements. Another contributing factor may be the recent increase in
commercially available foods fortified with a wide variety of vitamins and minerals that may lead to

By definition, Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy by which the fetus or embryo is removed
before it can survive outside of the uterus. As a very controversial topic in today's society, abortion
is considered by many to have two sides, pro–choice, which are the people in favor of legalizing
abortion, and pro–life, which are the people who advocate against the practice of abortion and its
legality. In 1973, the Supreme Court case, "Roe v. Wade" was a landmark decision upon the topic of
abortion. 21 year old Norma L. McCorvey (Jane Roe), was pregnant and claimed that she was raped
in order to try and rid of her incoming third child. Texas law at the time allowed abortion to be
permitted, but only in cases of rape and incest. Eventually admitting to her false accusation of rape,
Roe challenged the Texas law, and the Supreme Court ruled in favor of her. The Supreme Court
ruled that women have the right to decide on if they wanted to have an abortion, but that this
decision had to be balanced against a State's interest in the regulation of abortion. But even with this
case, abortion is still heavily debated upon. Proponents of allowing abortion are Mary Anne Warren
and Judith Jarvis Thomson who are influenced from a Liberal agenda and they believe that women

unauthorized material to prepare for her Intro to Politics midterm exam and was not honest in her
glimpse of seeing the major essay topic.
Lucy obtained the midterm exam from the photocopying machine. The definition of "obtain" in the
Merriam Webster Online Dictionary means "to hold on to, or possess." In the case of Lucy she had
possession of the test when she picked it up from the photocopy machine. This fact shows that Lucy
did obtain the exam. The UHD Academic Honesty Section 2.2 labeled Academic Honesty

home to bed–Lucy".) This shows that Lucy has been dishonest twice about seeing the exam. The
definition of "dishonest" from the Webster Pocket Dictionary says that dishonest means lacking
honesty, deceitful; untrustworthy. Lucy has shown a lack of being honest.

picked the paper up by accident and that Prof. Sander's was not there to say it was unauthorized.
Some may say the paper could have been assumed to be authorized due to the fact that Professor
Sander use the same exact test that another Professor used last year in which other students had

Filbert College/traditional teaching position. The first question that I find to be helpful is the one
about optional summer classes. The reply is that they often do not have enough enrolled students to
allow everyone to work in the summer time. I find this helpful since I would be a new educator, and
not have that much seniority. If by chance I did want to teach summer classes, I would likely not be
able to.
The second question in the traditional college application I find to be helpful is, the one about class
size. Since the answer to this question is 150–200 students, that would have a huge impact on my
decision. I have never worked with a class of this size, and grading 200 ten page papers, would be a
pain. Not saying that I could not, but it may be difficult. The advanced classes on the other hand, are
a lot more reasonable in size.

Parents to Take Responsibility for Childhood Obesity A Position Paper Cassandra Eisengart
Waynesburg University Purpose The purpose of this statement is to express my position in regards
to the ongoing issue in America of childhood obesity and whether or not parents are to blame for
this ongoing trend. Statement of Position As a nurse, I take the position that parents are to be blamed
for childhood obesity and it is our nation's responsibility, particularly as healthcare workers, to
educate parents and children so that we can decrease and eventually eliminate obesity in America.

Understandably, it can be hard for parents to make the right choices with their child in mind because
the cost of heating healthy is not cheap. Also, convenience and availability of things such as pizza
and McDonalds becomes luring after a busy day at work. Parents need more support and education
from healthcare workers in order to be knowledgeable enough to make the right decisions for
themselves and for their children. This has to begin early in life as a new mother and continue on
into childhood. The government also needs to step in with schemes to make healthy food choices
more affordable and more available. I believe that eating healthy needs to start at home but it also
needs to be brought into the schools as well. Sedentary lifestyle has become such a problem for
children these days. When I was younger, I remember on the weekends my parents telling me if I
was going to have friends over we had to play outside. I remember staying out until 8 or 9 playing
games outside with the neighbors up the street. I even remember my sister and I keeping ourselves
occupied with games such as hopscotch and we spent afternoons swimming in our pool for hours.
When you drive through neighborhoods today, where are all of the kids at? Kids are so consumed
with technology such as cell phones and television that they hardly even realize that playing outside

1. Identification of the issue.
Alcoholism is a chronic, progressive and potentially fatal disorder which leads to physical and
psychological harm, and impaired social and vocational functioning. It is characterized by tolerance,
physical dependence and/or pathological organ changes, all of which are the direct/indirect
consequence of the alcohol ingested (Light 5). Alcoholism, also known as "alcohol dependence,"
can be recognized by four obvious symptoms.
The four symptoms of alcoholism are loss of control, craving, physical dependence, and tolerance.
Loss of control, which is the inability of an individual to limit his or her alcohol consumption,
usually occurs when a person has experienced or entered an emotional segment of his or her ...
Alcoholism has been a major problem in society for a number of years. In fact, alcoholism should
be compared to a virus. This is because a person can never be completely cured from alcoholism;
they can only fight the battle, day to day, hoping not to relapse. When it comes to the etiologies, or
causes, of alcoholism, there seems to be three distinct origins of alcoholism. These causes are
genetic factors, dependency caused by brain chemical imbalances after long–term use, and social
and emotional factors.
Genetic factors play a major and very pertinent role in alcoholism. In actuality, genetic factors may
account for half of the total risk for alcoholism. Alcoholism is such a complex disorder that a single
gene is not likely to be the main culprit. However, researchers are investigating a number of
inherited traits that make some individuals more susceptible to alcoholism than others. Some of the
examples are listed below:
• One 2001 study found that the amygdala is smaller in subjects with family histories of
alcoholism, suggesting that inherited differences in brain structure may affect risk. The amygdala is
an area of the brain thought to play a role in the emotional aspects of craving, which can lead to
addiction (Asbury & Ketcham 121).
• Because alcohol is not found easily in nature, genetic mechanisms to protect against excessive
consumption may not have evolved in humans as they frequently have for protection against natural

Position Paper My first experience with physical therapy occurred in my small hometown of
northern Michigan. The clinic was a local private practice which had been around for years.
Looking back, some of the techniques used in this location did not seem to be exclusively
evidenced–based. One specific instance I recall is how my physical therapist used ultrasound on my
knee after I tore my ACL. This treatment technique in the physical therapy setting is what I would
like to focus this paper on. Never being employed as a physical therapy aide or even in the
healthcare setting my experience and knowledge on the subject was minimal. The physical therapist

Therefore, if you do or do not decide to use ultrasound in your practice, there should also be
exercise and movement based treatments in the plan. Through researching this topic, I have made
some great conclusions. I believe it is paramount that additional research is conducted regarding the
effectiveness of ultrasound as treatment. If I had to choose between using or not using ultrasound in
my practice, I would not use it. I believe our profession is capable of problem–solving and
developing new techniques that will be even more effective and most importantly, evidenced–based.
I want to be known for my integrity and trustworthiness with my patients. I feel as though the 5–10
minutes it takes to treat with ultrasound could be used in a more effective way. Now, if a patient
were to specifically ask for ultrasound as a treatment, I would explain what the research states. If
they still wanted to, maybe because of previous experience, I would continue with the ultrasound
treatment. In the vast majority of cases, ultrasound is completely safe. If the patient shows
improvement from ultrasound, placebo or not, it benefits the patient. The patient is the most
