Dealing With Conflict Essay
Dealing with Conflict
1.1
 Potential conflict can arise when two parties or people have a disagreement on a
particular subject. For example, a person may have said he was going to complete a task which he
failed to do which caused conflict with another person or party, or maybe two people who have
different ideas on who to accomplish a task may become heated.
 Stages of conflict are hard to describe in detail but it usually starts with raised
voices to get an opinion across which can escalate into a yelling match as one person tries to get the
other person or party to agree with what he is saying. Basically conflict will stop when both parties
or people agree on something, as conflict won't usually end if there...show more content...

3.1 – Factors Effecting Timing & Environment For Communication
Care should be taken in communicating with other in the workplace. Factors such as anger and
stress could be dangerous when communicating, as people are often very temperamental when
affected by these factors. Another factor could be the environment, such as a meeting, could hinder
communication as reputations and even jobs could be at stake if in appropriate communication is
used. Basically, there is a time and a place for all various types of communication and care should
be taken when talking to our peers and our bosses.
3.2 – Effective Non–Verbal and Verbal Communication
Body Language – This is important as people usually take note of how a person acts and moves.
For example, if a person sometimes scratches their nose when speaking, it could mean to other
people that he is trying to cover something up.
Questioning – Never be afraid to question a person for the sake of your own better understanding of
a subject. It is different when questioning a person's ability or understanding of a subject, which
could result in conflict.
Language Style – People in work environments need to be able to understand everyone clearly, so
correct language and vocabulary needs to be used in communicating with other

End of the World Essay examples
Do you expect the world to end? Will humans leave the world to another life form soon? These
questions have plagued man since his inception on this planet. Humans have, in every culture, have
made predictions of how and when the world will end. We have done this either through religion or
just average men or women who say they have the sight to see the future. Do we consider religion
false and seers charlatans? We must first look at the worlds myths about theend of the world, or as is
called from the Greek, apocalypse. We will examine myths from Christianity, Hindu, Norse and
Mayan/Aztec cultures. We will also see if there are any similarities and can they be proven as fact,
for prediction of any event is speculative at best. Let us...show more content...
A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was
burned up" (NIV, 1999). The Anti
–Christ takes over the world for Satan and tries to kill Gods
chosen people and finally make war with them, only to lose and then both are judged and then
thrown into a lake of fire with the rest that did not believe in Christ and his salvation. In the end
God and Christ bring heaven to earth and those who believed in them will inherent the earth, newly
restored. We can see that the world as we know it will be destroyed and then this prophecy gives
hope that there will be a new beginning. This destruction and reformation of the world is also
prevalent in Islamic and Judaism culture. Another cultural myth is the Wars of Hindumythology. In
the Hindu teachings, The Wars of Hindu mythology depict great heroes and demons in combat of
universal magnitude, overflowing with the tremendous power of celestial weapons, religious
theology, the unexplained, and mystical beings. "While no Hindu epic or scripture fails to describe
the horrors of war and its fallout, major wars are fought with a religious purpose: often to eliminate
demonic beings, or lords and rulers who pursue war wantonly for ambition and domination. The most
destructive wars in Hindu myth are often genocidal in scale, they are driven with the mission of
good triumphing over evil" (Mythology).

How to Resolve Conflict Essay
Conflict is in inevitable part of our everyday lives. Since no two people view things in the exact
same manner, disagreement will most certainly arise at some point in time. Conflict is simply a
difference of opinion and is considered to be a normal part of our everyday lives. There are several
different forms of conflict and not all of them are considered to be bad. This paper will discuss the
causes of conflict, the different types of conflict, and barriers to conflict. According to
Communication Research Associates, conflict is a condition of imbalance within an individual
(Communication Research Associates, 2005, p. 178). Keep in mind that just as there are
disadvantages to conflict, there are also several advantages.

For example, if you are at work and walk by someone's desk and accidently knock their pen on the
floor. All of sudden, the person lashes out and starts to curse at you. Knowing that this is not the
norm for your coworker, it would safe to assume that they are under some form of stress or have
other things on their mind. By knowing this, it becomes easier to respond in a more responsible,
tempered, and appropriate, manner. Sometimes ego can become a cause for conflict as well. There
may come a time when someone is wrong about something or they may have made a mistake but
they refuse to admit it. Because they have such a high ego, they may become self–protective of their
situation, therefore causing conflict because they refuse to admit they were wrong. Instead they may
choose to become persistent in standing their ground, whether they are right or wrong.
During communication, if the intended goals are not clearly identified, there is a greater
possibility for error and it could further aggravate a situation, causing conflict. Because each
individual is different there are bound to be clashes within certain personality types. For example,
if someone prefers to discuss everything in detail and I prefer to get straight to the point then we
could have a personality clash because we are not seeing things eye–to–eye. They may view me as
being incompetent or irresponsible while I would

Essay on We Can End World Hunger
In the past ten years the world population exceeded six billion people with most of the growth
occurring in the poorest, least developed countries in the world. The rapidly increasing population
and the quickly declining amount of land are relative and the rate at which hunger is increasing rises
with each passing year. We cannot afford to continue to expand ourworld population at such an
alarming rate, for already we are suffering the consequences. Hunger has been a problem for our
world for thousands of years. But now that we have the technology and knowledge to stamp it out,
time is running short.
Food security is one of the largest problems facing our world today. To be "food secure" a country
must have enough...show more content...
Building a foundation together is building one that will last and one that will be finished together
gradually over time. If we not only donate technology to these countries, but also work with them to
fit the technology into their culture and lifestyles, then they will feel like they are a part of the
solution. There are programs today working towards this goal. The following are descriptions of
three programs dedicated to teaching small–scale farmers to become more self–sufficient.
Self–Help International was established in Waverly, Iowa and has been fighting world hunger and
promoting self–reliance since 1959. It is an ecumenical organization devoted to empowering farmers
in developing countries to increase their food production efficiency and improve their incomes.
Self–Help International's mission statement is "to alleviate hunger by helping people help
themselves." Self–Help focuses on agricultural and technological development, nutrition, rural
transportation, marketing training, and leadership development.
Self–Help International has a variety of projects in third world countries. These projects have several
objectives that they address including training small–scale farmers to improve their methods of
farming and transportation. They are also assisting in dealing with post–harvest problems of storage,
processing, and marketing. Another objective is training people in the use of Quality Protein

Psychosis: What It Really Is Essay
People have many different opinions on what psychosis really is. Many define it as crazy or not
normal, but really, the illnesses vary. It could be schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, hallucinations and
delusions, anxiety, even Alzheimer's and Dementia. It is characterized in all of these illnesses.
Psychosis is usually genetic and passed down through different family members. It is an illness that
distorts the brain, making thinking unclear. The main question is what really causes someone to be
psychotic? What really defines psychosis? Psychosis is a state of severe mental impairment, which
causes the person not to view the real or unreal correctly. (Lecture) People with psychosis often have
problems with delusions and hallucinations....show more content...
The reason being is they both have similar symptoms, and being Schizophrenic can causes a lower
diagnosis of Psychosis. Just like Psychosis, one cause of Schizophrenia is by abuse from other
people or done to one's self. For example, like alcohol abuse and drug abuse. The reason these
diseases can cause these illnesses is that drugs and alcohol can ruin brain cells. The main symptom
of these illnesses is disordered thinking (Bernheim and Lewine). Psychosis can also be associated
with bipolar disorder.
Bipolar disorder is determined by manic highs and manic lows. This means someone can be
extremely happy and then all of a sudden become extremely depressed within minutes of each
other or vice versa. Psychosis is very similar to bipolar disorder because psychiatric patients can
have manic depression, manic anger, manic happiness, and then can seem completely fine. These
are common symptoms of each other, and all of these illnesses are linked to each other in some
way (Lecture). Many with the diagnosis of bipolar disorder have prescribed to medication called
mood stabilizers.
The main reason Psychosis, and other mental illnesses, are so important is because anyone can
have mental issues and not be aware of it. This is the main reason that the illnesses become out of
control. People that have Schizophrenia or bipolar disorder are diagnosed with Psychosis. Even if it
is not a severe case of Psychosis, it can be more severe as he or

How to End a Relationship... Essay
Relationships is a step that two people take since they connected in a romantic way. For some, it
might seem far away, but others can't wait for it to end. Some signs to know you're on a failed
relationship could be lack of respect, no time for each other, can't find common ground, tired of
the same routine and bickering and fighting. Those were some signs that some can be solved but
mostly is of a failed relationship. Ending a relationship isn't as simple as it looks, since there was
love or some wouldn't admit it but at least they cared for each other. One of the reasons you might
be reading this is because you want some guidance or advice, and that's why we recommend you
keep reading.
If you're still considering your relationship and...show more content...
Try not to be cruel, be honest, don't say things that might confuse or hurt like bringing back the
past or the reasons why you want to end it. Be prepared for any reaction, the dumped can react
since he or she didn't see it coming. You should try to be comforting but not too attach but also
don't just storm out of there. For both of you to have a chance to move on, you should avoid each
other and if you have each other's thing try to sort it out so you both won't have an argument. The
best lesson of a failed relationship is to learn from it and don't let it repeat it. Also know when to
walk away, why be bickering about a lost cause. After the break up don't try to stay friends, you
wanted to end it for a reason so why go back when you can keep moving forward. Take some time
for yourself since not everyone understands that the one who broke up is also in pain as the one
who was dumped. Because you're the one taking "the bullet" and it's true since you might feel guilt
and even though you want to go and party to try to feel alive and free of everything, it's better to go
to places you feel comfortable.
Just because you got off the horse doesn't mean you need to get back up after the break up. Since
both of you took time apart it helps with the healing process. Don't try to start dating quickly,
remember "if it's meant to be, it's meant to be". Now that you're single you should change things
like a new look or set new goals and be happy. Don't be stuck in the past

Saying Goodbye Essay
I never thought this day would come. I mean, I did know it was coming, but I just never thought
it would be this soon. Since birth, Lina has been my older sister, my companion, my confidant,
and moreover, my best friend. As years passed, I acknowledged that we were getting older, and
that the date of her departure was getting closer, yet, I did not want to believe it. Since last year,
she had been in the exhausting process of applying to universities, and by the end of May, the
University of New Orleans (UNO) granted her with a generous scholarship. With a smile full of
pride and amazement, she accepted the scholarship and reserved her space in the Psychology field
in the UNO. Overshadowed by the great news of her scholarship, we failed to...show more content...
Suddenly, she stood up and a warm smile lightened her face. Her eyes shone with excitement as her
three best friends approached her. They talked and laughed zealously; they joked as if they had
forgotten what was about to happen in less than an hour. I could not help myself from watching
her. Her smile was genuine and her sight deep. Her voice was melodic while she recounted all the
anecdotes the four girls had shared for six long years. She moved her hands while she talked and
showed her perfectly white teeth while she laughed. There was no fear in her face, just a spark of
adventure glistened at the corner of her eyes. She was about to undertake a journey to the small
state of Louisiana, to the beautiful jazz city of New Orleans, and even at the verge of starting a
new life on her own, she showed no signs of anxiety or uneasiness. There were so many reasons
why not to cry: she was happy, she was young, she had a great opportunity to study abroad,
something not everyone has, and many more that would take me a whole day to mention.
However, I only needed one reason why to cry: I would no longer have her by my side. As a
tremendous storm, an urge of crying overwhelmed me, and all I could do was to sit down, hide my
face in my hands and let my emotions overpower me. She looked at me and frowned. I knew it hurt
her to see me that way, but I couldn't stop. She came near me and hugged me, without saying a word.

Ending Homelessness Essay
Homelessness is a growing epidemic across the country. This terrible misfortune has led to many
unsuspecting people leading impoverished lifestyles, and facing the horrific and heart–wrenching
tragedy of abandonment. The purpose of this essay is to not only persuade the readers to get
involved in ending homelessness on local and national efforts, but to embrace new and creative ways
of helping to end this rapidly growing problem, by taking action to end this catastrophic situation.
Also, I will demonstrate the causes and effects of the homeless resorting to violence, by using
comparison and contrast to examine the views and standpoints on helping the forgotten, so that we
might end this calamity once and for all. In an increasingly...show more content...
It is crucial that we find new and creative ways of helping the homeless, through education,
recreation, religion, and the revamping of homeless shelters. I implore you to help the destitute, so
that we might end this travesty once and for all. To employ to my viewpoint, it is important that you
open you mind to gain a wealth of fascinating information, that will help you to understand that the
homeless should be able to receive an education, in pursuit of a better life. Education is as old as
civilization, and aims at producing intelligent, responsible, well–informed citizens, who take an
active interest in the world around them. Education includes a variety of learning experiences.
Acquiring knowledge, skills, habits, values, and attributes, can better help our homeless to become
useful and productive members of society, and shape their character in hopes that it will remain
with them throughout their lives. Education is more important today than ever before. It provides
them with the specialized training that they will need, to prepare for a job or career. Education also
helps people adjust to change. This benefit has become increasingly important, because social
changes today take place with increasing speed, and affect the lives of a great many people.
Recreation is something that not only gives us pleasure, but also helps to renew or recreate the mind
and body.

Losing a Loved One Essay example
Losing a Loved One
Losing a loved one is like having the rug swept from under you. We make plans for the day, and
do not think twice about how those plans can be taken away in the blink of an eye. I never thought
much about it myself, until I was faced with the shock, and undeniable truth of my uncle's death. I
do not think anyone really thinks about tragedy until they are actually faced with shocking news. It
is amazing how we take life for granted. The tragedy never goes away. You just learn how to cope
with it and keep moving on.
My mom had been going to school in Virginia and staying at my Aunt Ana's house. She had been
away for two weeks and wanted to come home for the weekend. My mom had suggested that I go

I felt as if I was paralyzed, I felt that if I moved it would be real. I just had this blank look on my
face. I had no reaction at first and I wanted to deny it, all of it. I kept saying to myself, no it is a lie,
they made a mistake. To my complete horror I was wrong.
My mom kept saying "I have got to go see Fran. I need to see with my brother" My mom ran down
stairs to get ready to go, I followed her and just stood there, still paralyzed. She hugged me and
said that she loved me. I had never seen my mom so panicked. She went into the bathroom to take
a shower and I could still hear her sobbing through the door. I was all by myself, now. I was
standing in the middle of the family room as the words "He is dead" pierced my heart like daggers
of ice. I was screaming OH, GOD NO, and started to cry uncontrollably. The realization that I
would never see my uncle again struck me. After I got myself under control I went and packed my
things to leave with my mother. As soon as we were done we were on the next flight to New Jersey.
I come from a big family with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. As I was
standing there all alone I thought back to the time when I got to spend a week with Fran. Almost a
year ago to the date, most of the family was together for my other uncle's wedding. All the cousins
sat at the same table and we had such a good time together. He was a busy person, he

We Must Stop Racism Essay
We live in a world that is culturally diverse, with rich culture and heritage. Everyone comes from a
different background, with unique history and life experiences. Today we have broken–down a lot
of racial barriers that existed in the past, and we have learn become more accepting of each other
culture and way of life. Even though our society is growing up and becoming more tolerant of each
other, they are still many barriers that needs to be broken. Racism still exists today, it is something
that we cannot get rid of easily. Some people express racism in various degrees. Around the world

According to Reuters he did these crimes because "He wanted to stir up racial tension, racial
hatred," (C. Pitas, 2013). As was mentioned by Reuters, something as simple as not being white
caused this young man to murder an innocent person, and also trying to hurt so many people all out
of hatred. This exhibits the ignorance certain people today still has about other race and culture.
They are many cases of racism against skin color and other culture, most of this is caused by
ignorance of another culture. Another article by the Huffington post and Global voices, shows how
strong racism still exists today. Even though this article is not as severe as the on the 25 year old
Pavlo, it still shows how strong racism still is today. On September 15th 2013, a new Miss America
was crowned. The new Miss America is non–other than Miss New York Nina Davuluri, Nina is of
Indian decent. According to Global Voices she made history by "becoming the first American of
Indian descent to win the coveted Miss America title". Because she has Indian decent, her skin
color is brown, because of this many did not know her actual heritage. According to Global Voices,
"she has found herself at the receiving end of a slew of

  • 2. End of the World Essay examples Do you expect the world to end? Will humans leave the world to another life form soon? These questions have plagued man since his inception on this planet. Humans have, in every culture, have made predictions of how and when the world will end. We have done this either through religion or just average men or women who say they have the sight to see the future. Do we consider religion false and seers charlatans? We must first look at the worlds myths about theend of the world, or as is called from the Greek, apocalypse. We will examine myths from Christianity, Hindu, Norse and Mayan/Aztec cultures. We will also see if there are any similarities and can they be proven as fact, for prediction of any event is speculative at best. Let us...show more content... The Anti –Christ takes over the world for Satan and tries to kill Gods chosen people and finally make war with them, only to lose and then both are judged and then thrown into a lake of fire with the rest that did not believe in Christ and his salvation. In the end God and Christ bring heaven to earth and those who believed in them will inherent the earth, newly restored. We can see that the world as we know it will be destroyed and then this prophecy gives hope that there will be a new beginning. This destruction and reformation of the world is also prevalent in Islamic and Judaism culture. Another cultural myth is the Wars of Hindumythology. In the Hindu teachings, The Wars of Hindu mythology depict great heroes and demons in combat of universal magnitude, overflowing with the tremendous power of celestial weapons, religious theology, the unexplained, and mystical beings. "While no Hindu epic or scripture fails to describe the horrors of war and its fallout, major wars are fought with a religious purpose: often to eliminate demonic beings, or lords and rulers who pursue war wantonly for ambition and domination. The most destructive wars in Hindu myth are often genocidal in scale, they are driven with the mission of good triumphing over evil" (Mythology). Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. How to Resolve Conflict Essay Conflict is in inevitable part of our everyday lives. Since no two people view things in the exact same manner, disagreement will most certainly arise at some point in time. Conflict is simply a difference of opinion and is considered to be a normal part of our everyday lives. There are several different forms of conflict and not all of them are considered to be bad. This paper will discuss the causes of conflict, the different types of conflict, and barriers to conflict. According to Communication Research Associates, conflict is a condition of imbalance within an individual (Communication Research Associates, 2005, p. 178). For example, if you are at work and walk by someone's desk and accidently knock their pen on the floor. All of sudden, the person lashes out and starts to curse at you. Knowing that this is not the norm for your coworker, it would safe to assume that they are under some form of stress or have other things on their mind. By knowing this, it becomes easier to respond in a more responsible, tempered, and appropriate, manner. Sometimes ego can become a cause for conflict as well. There may come a time when someone is wrong about something or they may have made a mistake but they refuse to admit it. Because they have such a high ego, they may become self–protective of their situation, therefore causing conflict because they refuse to admit they were wrong. Instead they may choose to become persistent in standing their ground, whether they are right or wrong. During communication, if the intended goals are not clearly identified, there is a greater possibility for error and it could further aggravate a situation, causing conflict. Because each individual is different there are bound to be clashes within certain personality types. For example, if someone prefers to discuss everything in detail and I prefer to get straight to the point then we could have a personality clash because we are not seeing things eye–to–eye. • 7. Saying Goodbye Essay I never thought this day would come. I mean, I did know it was coming, but I just never thought it would be this soon. Since birth, Lina has been my older sister, my companion, my confidant, and moreover, my best friend. As years passed, I acknowledged that we were getting older, and that the date of her departure was getting closer, yet, I did not want to believe it. Since last year, she had been in the exhausting process of applying to universities, and by the end of May, the University of New Orleans (UNO) granted her with a generous scholarship. With a smile full of pride and amazement, she accepted the scholarship and reserved her space in the Psychology field in the UNO. Her eyes shone with excitement as her three best friends approached her. They talked and laughed zealously; they joked as if they had forgotten what was about to happen in less than an hour. I could not help myself from watching her. Her smile was genuine and her sight deep. Her voice was melodic while she recounted all the anecdotes the four girls had shared for six long years. She moved her hands while she talked and showed her perfectly white teeth while she laughed. There was no fear in her face, just a spark of adventure glistened at the corner of her eyes. She was about to undertake a journey to the small state of Louisiana, to the beautiful jazz city of New Orleans, and even at the verge of starting a new life on her own, she showed no signs of anxiety or uneasiness. There were so many reasons why not to cry: she was happy, she was young, she had a great opportunity to study abroad, something not everyone has, and many more that would take me a whole day to mention. However, I only needed one reason why to cry: I would no longer have her by my side. As a tremendous storm, an urge of crying overwhelmed me, and all I could do was to sit down, hide my face in my hands and let my emotions overpower me. She looked at me and frowned. I knew it hurt her to see me that way, but I couldn't stop. She came near me and hugged me, without saying a word. What Get more content on HelpWriting.net
