About BBMP  The BBMP is the fourth largest Municipal Corporation in India, after the city corporations that administer Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.  Represents third level of government.  BBMP is run by a city council. The council has 198 representatives Total no. of wards: 198 wards  Council elections held every 5 years.  The BBMP is responsible for infrastructural assets of the Greater Bangalore Metropolitan area, with a population of 6.8 million. BBMP Group - D is divided into eight zones:

BBMP - JNNURM  Each ward is allocated Rs 2,000,000 annually by GoK.  GoI has extended a helping hand to the urban local bodies through Jawaharalal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).  The JNNURM aims to encourage cities to initiate steps to bring about improvements in the existing service levels in a financially sustainable manner. The primary objective of the JNNURM is to create economically productive, efficient, equitable and responsive city. Road related project of BBMP approved under JNNURM: Sector Amount (in Crore) Storm water drain 925.38 Road & road related 273.34 Total Group - D 1198.72
  4. 4. BBMP & JNNURM funding A number of under passes, grade separators have been taken under JNNURM to address traffic bottlenecks at important points. An example of how funding is done under JNNURM in road & road related sector(s) Group - D
