6. POLLINATION
 The process by which pollen is transferred from one
anther(male part) to the stigma(female part) of one plant
there by enabling fertilization and reproduction.
 It takes place in the angiosperms, the flower bearing plants.

7. Kinds of Pollination
 Two types of pollination are present.
 A) Self pollination
 B) Cross pollination

8. Self Pollination
 Also called as autogamy
 A plant that self pollinates transmits an exact replica of the parents
genetic material to the offspring.
 Plants are able to self pollinate because of its special location.
 eg: peanuts, tomatoes, and strawberries.

9. Cross pollination
 Also known as syngamy.
 Transfer of pollen between different plants of the same
species.
 Occurs most frequently in nature.
 It occurs when an insect or animal moves tiny bits of
pollen from one female to the male portion of two
different flowers.

10. Significance of pollination
 Enables the reproduction of future generation of plants.
 Transfer of pollen results in the formation of variety of
seeds.
