The resultsshow that nearlyall the respondentsfitin
to the age bracketof 16-20. Thisinformsme that I
chose the correct age formy target audience asthey
were the dominantgrouptobe interestedin my
questionnaire.Alsotheywasanevensplitinthe
gendersof the respondentswhichshowsthatmy
trailershouldbe aimedatbothmalesandfemales.
Questiontwoaskedparticipantswhattheir
favourite genresof filmwere.70%of the
participantssaidthathorror filmswere their
favourite genre,aswell ascomedy.This
explainswhymytargetaudience mostly
watch Slasherfilms,astheyoccasionallyhave
aspectsof comedy.Thistellsme thatmy film
shouldperhapshave slightaspectsof comedy
to appeal tomy target audience
I askedmyrespondentshow oftentheygotothe
cinema.The majorityof the respondentsappeargo
quite regularly,with45% goingmonthlyand35%
goingevery2-5 months.Thisshowsthatmy
promotional package will reachmytargetaudience
throughcinemapromotion.However,othermethods
of promotionsuchasvia social
mediawill be necessary. This
reinforcesmy understandingthat
theyare passionate aboutfilm.

audience andcan be usedto helpcreate mypromotional package. Italsoconfirmsthe factthat
horror isstill popular,especiallyteens

majorityof participantssaidSlasherwastheir
favourite sub-genre.The mostcommonreasonfor
Slashersbeingthe bestisthatthey’re the scariest,
the most entertainingandthe mostrelatable which
makesthemscarier.Respondentsalsostatedthat
Slashersare more actionpackedand because there’s
alwaysjumpscares. I planto make my traileraction
packedand withjumpscaresinorder to satisfymy
TA and fulfil theirexpectations

target audience will have asolid

will ensure Ifollow these
conventions,butalsochallenge
themso that myfilmkeepsthe
audience ontheirtoes.
I askedwhatit isthe respondentslikedthe most
abouthorror films.The mostcommonresponses
were the tensiontheycreate,the jumpscares,
the adrenaline andthe action.Iwill have to
ensure thatmy trailerfeaturesaclearbuild-upof
tension,lotsof actionandjumpscares to drawin
the target audience. Imustalsoensure thatthe
otherpiecesof mypromotional package reflect
the fearthe filmwill generate.Thistellsme that
my audience crave fearandunexpectedhorror
so I mustprovide this.

favourite horrorfilmsandwhy.The mostcommon
response wasScream,because itwasoriginal and
keptthemguessing.Halloween,Fridaythe 13th
and Nightmare onElmStreetwere alsocommon
responses.Thistellsme thatmyfilmshouldfollow
a classicSlashernarrative asthese are the most
popular,butI mustalso keepthe filmoriginallike
Scream
Questionnine askedrespondentshow often
theybuyor read filmmagazines.60% stated
theyoccasionallyreadfilmmagazines,with
40% neverbuyingthem.Thiscouldbe due
to the fact that the magazine industryis
declining,withteenagersbeingthe least
likelytobuymagazines. Thistellsme thatI
mustattemptto make my filmmagazine
unique andensure itappealstoa wider
teenage audiencesothattheywill purchase
my magazine.
The final questionaskedrespondentswhichmade
trailersthe mosteffective.Asexpected,JumpScares
was the mostpopularanswer,with80% choosing
JumpScares.Music, Fast Cutsand Actionwere also
common.I will ensure thatthese 4featureswill be
usedefficientlyinmytrailer. Thishasshownme that
the maintensionbuilderswithintrailersare the
mostimportantfeaturesof a trailertomy audience.
I will use these particularfeaturesthroughoutthe
whole of mytrailerandbuilditup slowly.

Thisalsomeansthatmy target audience will have asolid understandingof the conventionsof horrorfilms.I will ensure Ifollow these conventions,butalsochallenge themso that myfilmkeepsthe audience ontheirtoes.

Thistellsme thatI mustattemptto make my filmmagazine unique andensure itappealstoa wider teenage audiencesothattheywill purchase my magazine.

The final questionaskedrespondentswhichmade trailersthe mosteffective.Asexpected,JumpScares was the mostpopularanswer,with80% choosing JumpScares.Music, Fast Cutsand Actionwere also common.I will ensure thatthese 4featureswill be usedefficientlyinmytrailer. Thishasshownme that the maintensionbuilderswithintrailersare the mostimportantfeaturesof a trailertomy audience. I will use these particularfeaturesthroughoutthe whole of mytrailerandbuilditup slowly.
