The Peek EuroController EC-2®
is a state-of-the-art traffic controller, rooted
in a long tradition of innovation and robustness. On the one hand it has
an innovative design which integrates a flexible software architecture on a
high power processor with extensive open connectivity. On the other hand
it has a safety architecture that complies with European and local directives
and electronics that is durable, robust and easy to maintain. The software
architecture opens up many application areas. Not only is a wide range of
traffic control algorithms supported, the EC-2®
can also act as a universal
road-side processor that can be applied to many different tasks.
The extensive open communication options for the EC-2®
make it an ideal
node in a wider network. The EC-2®
offers wired and wireless broadband
connectivity in a flexible network topology, and can easily adapt to the
rapidly changing world of modern telecommunication.
Benefits
The EC-2®
has a number of specific benefits that make it very cost-effective
in a large number of applications. The following non-exhaustive list gives
some of the benefits of using an EC-2® traffic controller:
ƒƒ The EC-2®
offers a high level of integration and flexibility combined
with a durable and robust design and is cost-effective;
ƒƒ IP and TCP/IP connectivity. The EC-2®
functions as a node in an
open TCP/IP network and therefore can connect to all IP based
applicationsThe EC-2®
has been designed to work with 3 major
adaptive traffic control systems: SCOOT, ImFlow, Utopia. The EC-2®
offers supports the latest cooperative systems standards
ƒƒ TheEC-2®
has a long history of supporting public transport (conditional)
priority. Such as VETAG, VECOM, shortdistance radio, and wireless
lan.
ƒƒ The EC-2®
comes with tooling that supports configuration, simulation
(VISSIM) and testing of programs.
Applications
The EC-2®
is primarily designed for traffic control at junctions and pedestrian
crossings. However, the EC-2®
can also be used as a universal roadside system. The
EC-2®
is freely programmable; it has extensive and diverse I/O modules and a wide
range of communications facilities.
If such complimentary applications are programmed on the EC-2®
, they can also be
implemented on uncontrolled intersections by using the EC-200D. The EC-2®
and the
EC200D together form the ideal ITS buildingblocks for every modern city.
EC-2®
Features
The following is a non-exhaustive list of EC-2®
features:
ƒƒ Web based user interface; accesible with laptop, smartphone or tablet or via a
remote connection)
ƒƒ Comprehensive fault log and event log facilities wiht remote maintenance
facility;
ƒƒ Four independent configurations can be stored in the controller;
ƒƒ Configuraion update possible via various (wireless) network connections
ƒƒ Free configuration of lamp switch circuits. Users can configure any function to
any lamp switch;
ƒƒ The EC-2®
can use all different types of detection technology (e.g. loops, video,
microwave)
ƒƒ The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the core of the EC-2®
controller containing
two autonomous processors, one for control and one for supervision;
ƒƒ Integrated power unit including mains voltage monitoring, safety filters and
separate main contactor for optimum safety;
ƒƒ Variable data is stored in RAM with a memory backup for multiple months;
ƒƒ ED316 loop detector board provides 16 channels on a single card, which can
be software configured,eliminating the need for setting jumpers and switches;
ƒƒ Integrated speed measurement using ED316; loop detection possible.
