4. 1- Introduction
Pakistan is a country of diverse
geography, rich culture,having
sixth largest standing Army,
containing semi-industrial
economy, well integrated
agriculture system, developing
tourist department . As being a
nuclear power it stands strong
and tall yet there are some issues
due to which it is still a
developing country instead of
being a developed country.
Rather than beating around the
bush,directly coming to the issue
Pakistan has been suffering and
is suffering from severe Brain
Drain.By brain drain I don’t mean
a neurological disease , its more
destructive than that.

5. 2-Defination & Origin
• Brain drain is defined as
“Mass emigration of technically skilled
people from one country to another country”
Also defined as ‘Human capital flight’ as it is same
to the case of capital flight.
The term originated in 1960,as many intellectuals
and scientists migrated to united states for better
working chances.
In the history, the greatest brain drain have been
from rural to urban areas.

6. 3-Statistics of Brain drain
• According to a static report presented
by the ministry of overseas Pakistanis
and Human resource development,
around 2.765 million Pakistanis have
proceeded their careers in abroad
over last years.
• In 23-12-2013 Tribune published a
static survey that 5,873,539 citizens
have emigrated from 1981-2012 out
of which an unwonted amount of
professionals and technical workers
left in 2012 only.
• According to the survey of Gall-up
Pakistan more than two-third of
Pakistan's adult population wants to
perceive careers in abroad and half of
them have no desire to return back.

7. 4- Why Brain drain
• Lack of better
opportunities.
• Desire for a better urban
life.
• Disregard for local talent.
• Merit systems.
• Discrimination in
appointment and
promotions.
• Income inequalities.
• 10 times more earning
than home country.

8. 5-Effects of Brain drain
The first and the far most destructive effect of brain drain is the slow
academia death.
Slow academia death is the death of standard and quality education in an
institute.
Brain drain has effected the academia of Pakistan.
As the best teachers, specialists in history, specialists in English
,anthropologists, the psychologists are not serving in Pakistan instead they
are hired by foreign institutes by offering a handsome pay.
The talent of Pakistan has been and is serving for foreign countries after
studying in Pakistan.
The taxes they pay in those countries, the hard work, the creative mind they
dedicate to those countries is the right of Pakistan. Pakistan deserves all
that hard work which can uplift the country and strengthen its roots.
Due to brain drain, the intellectual strength of a country is lost.

9. Brain drain causes collapse of
country's infrastructure, and it can
become stagnant with no improve.

10. 6-Measures Against Brain drain
• Brain drain has been and is poisoning the
roots of our country.
It is a necessity to adopt measures against this
destructive disease.
Indeed several steps have been taken in our
country by few recognizable and upright
organizations and institutes.
Higher Education Commission(HEC) is one of
these organizations. It serves as an engine of
Socio-Economic development of Pakistan.
They offer a wide range of scholarships and have
processed case of large number of PHD
scholars returning from abroad for
placements in institutes all over Pakistan.
HEC has trained a total of 1,200 in foreign
universities as well as local universities and
these trainees are benefiting different
universities of Pakistan.

11. 7- Conclusion.
• So as concluded Brain
drain is a great
eradication to country .
Its time we should come
up with a solution for this
problem otherwise it will
weaken the infrastructure
of our country.
• If steps are not taken
against Brain drain ,we
will loose our youngsters
and will face a massive
national loss.

12. Be the change you want to
see in world.
Everyone has the power to
bring a change . Its our
responsibility to exercise
measures against Brain drain.
If everyone here changes idea
of perceiving career in abroad
that’s when a change happens .
I chose this topic for assignment
as I want to contribute to the
land which has benefitted us so
much.
If 34 girls here change their
ideas and start contributing to
this country it means 34
families are going to serve the
country tomorrow.
So lets stop Brain drain and help
our lovely country prosper.
