1. HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT REPRESENT
PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?
2. TARGET AUDIENCE
My target audience for my magazine was 15 – 25
year olds of both genders. My magazine was
targeted at an audience who have an interest in
rock genre music and style. I based my magazine
on rock magazines such as Kerrang and
Rocksound and aimed for my target audience for
my magazine to be the same as theirs.
3. WHO IS BEING REPRESENTED IN MY
MAGAZINE?
In my magazine I represented different rock
genre based artists and fans. An example of this
was my cover star on my front cover magazine.
She was represented to be a ‘rock star’ who was
the main attraction and headline for that issue of
my magazine. I used a real rock genre band
called ‘Imperium’ on my double page spread
which was represented to be a popular and
famous band and known to the readers. Lastly,
the pictures I used on my content page included
images of fans which readers could relate and
identify with.
4. ISOLATED WHAT AUDIENCE?
I made it quite clear that my target audience for
my magazine was only aimed at fans of rock
based music and styles. I seemed to isolate males
as my target audience based on what I included
in my magazine. For example, my cover star was
of female ‘rock star’ and related and would
attract females of the target audience to aspire to
be like her. Also, on my double page spread I
used a rock genre boy band which could more aim
and attract female readers of Keruption as they
are more likely to be a fan of them however, male
readers of my magazine may aspire to be like
them and create their own band.
