2. Genre of my magazine
• The genre of music my magazine is made for is rock. I have made sure
that all the articles on my contents and double page spread relate to
the rock music genre. All the articles represent the genre of music in a
positive way. One of the articles that I mention in my contents page is
about a band winning and award and another performing at a
massive arena. All these are positive aspects of the social groups that
would be interested in this genre but also the artists.
3. Age group
• The age group that my magazine represents is 15-25 year olds. This is
because when I did my research for my magazine the demographics
told me that this was the main age group top read the style of
magazine I was creating. The age group Is represented by the colour
scheme that I used as they would catch their eyes. Also the artist I
used in the magazine are current and are very popular as their
audience is of the same age range.
4. Choice of model
• The model I chose is young and of the same age as the target
audience for the magazine. What she is wearing is similar to what the
fans and artist if the genre would wear. In each picture she is pulling a
different pose so each picture is different and original. This
representation of the model conveys rock music as she is dressed and
is pictured like a rebel which is stereotypical for the genre.
• The model on the magazine is relatable to the audience as she is the
same age and when reading her article she goes through the same
issues as some of the readers would.
5. Stereotypes
• I used many stereotypes in my magazine for example I used dark
colours as that is a stereotype of the rock genre. People are
represented as wearing dark colours which all the models are
wearing.
• I have also mentioned many bands that are stereotypically known for
the rock genre and used that as iconography to represent the genre
of rock and to also attract the target market.
