2. LEARNER ANALYSIS
The students in my class are ages 11-14.
There are 13 girls and 9 boys
2 of the boys have ADHD
All are interactive learners
3. MAIN OBJECTIVE
My students will identify all 5 of the holidays
we cover in class during this unit, and be
able to adequately describe 3 aspects of
the celebrations in the different cultures.
Evaluation will be in the form of a class
discussion and a short quiz.
4. DAY BY DAY
BREAKDOWN
MONDAY: Students will choose a holiday from the following and begin
working on research:
Año Nuevo (New Year’s celebration in various countries)
Dia del Amor y la Amistad (Valentines Day in Latin America),
Cinco de Mayo (Mexican celebration),
Dia de los Muertos (Mexican/Latin American holiday),
Navidad (Christmas celebration in various countries)
TUESDAY: Continue researching projects and asking any questions
about the Project
WEDNESDAY: Presentations will begin
THURSDAY: Finish presentations and end class with a discussion/review
FRIDAY: Continue discussions and then have a quiz
5. USE OF TECHNOLOGY
Students will be split into cooperative
working/learning groups and use the school’s
computer lab during class time to research a
holiday assigned to them. Students can use
PowerPoint or Prezi.com for their presentations.
Each group will then present their projects to the
class on the days planned for their assigned
holiday
Each group will be required to include an
interactive activity for the whole class in their
presentation.
