Web 2.0 Review
The application I chose to review is Prezi.com. I am a huge fan of Prezi and I
have been using it since high school. Coming to college, I was extremely surprised as
to how many of my peers had never heard of Prezi, or do not want to use it because
it is “confusing” and “hard” and they want to “stick with PowerPoint.” While there is
nothing wrong with PowerPoint, I see so many advantages to Prezi that Powerpoint
cannot offer (aside from the fact that Prezi is more aesthetically pleasing as well).
Prezi allows for real-time collaboration. Students can create accounts and
“add” each other to all be able to work on one presentation. This way, each student
can work on the same presentation and have it saved automatically for everyone
else, rather than each student doing separate work and then having to mash
together the work of three or four students. That is unnecessarily complicated. The
“collaborate” option is shown below.
Another part of Prezi that I appreciate is the ease of adding videos from
online sites. In PowerPoint, it is complicated to add a video without having to go to a
2. web browser, which wastes time during a presentation. Prezi is already online, and
the videos play directly from the presentation.
