Lesson Plan For Class October 23 Mrs Nadhernys Class
1. Lesson Plan
Intern: Nazarena Cali Grade Level: 6th
Title: Argentina Date: October 23rd
I. Objectives: Students will learn about some important aspects of Argentina
II. Materials for Learning Activities: a hand out (fact file) – power point presentation
III. Procedures for Learning Activities:
Warm-Up: The teacher tells students the lesson is on Argentina. She hands out a fact file:
each student fills it in with the information they already got about this country.
Transition: In pairs, students compare what they wrote in the fact file and share the
information with the class.
Activity 1: The teacher writes on the whiteboard all the information students have shared
and any extra information they have.
Activity 2: Students watch a power point presentation with pictures of Argentina. The
teacher explains every one of them, and show realia –a “mate”, yerba mate, and a woman’s
traditional costume: students can see, smell and touch everything. Students check and complete
their work.
Activity 3: In the power point presentation, one of the very important persons whose picture
appears is a comic strip character called Mafalda. The teacher hands in a copy of one of these
comic strips: students read it, and volunteers role play it.
IV. Assessment: 3-2-1. On the back of the copy of the comic strip, students write 3 facts about
Argentina they learned from the class, 2 comments and 1 question. Then, students share with the
class what they wrote and questions are answered.
V. Differentiation: As student work in pairs, weaker students can benefit from this interaction.
The ones that could not complete their fact file in pairs, have the opportunity of checking with the
whiteboard as the teacher writes on it all the information the class shares. The language the
teacher uses in describing each slide is very simple, so students will not have any difficulty
understanding; anyway, the teacher will write most of the vocabulary on the whiteboard.
VI. Reflection: As the class started I saw that the students were interested in the presentation. I
guess that the fact that it had few words –only titles- and lots of pictures got their attention. It
stirred their curiosity the realia presented in class as a complement to the presentation. With the
visual aids, the real objects, the comic strip and the intra and inter personal work, I think some of
the students’ learning styles and intelligences were addressed. They left the class with a “thank
you, Miss Naza” and a big smile.
