1. REPORT
At the end of August 2011, all trainee teachers from “Program
IjazahSarjanaMudaPendidikan (PISMP)” had been given a task by
“BahagianPendidikan Guru (BPG). We need to carry on the School Based Experience
(SBE) in primary school that we chose for a week from 22/23 August 2011 until 26/27
September 2011. All trainee teacher needs to fulfill this. The main objective of this this
task is to give us to know and feel the real situation of the school and observe the
teaching and learning process in the classroom. We will know whether our learning at
the college on the aspects above is true or not when it comes to the real situation.
Besides that, it will give a chance and opportunity for us to be in a school company as a
teacher in a student’s view. We also need to get the information on the aspect of
classroom management, the pattern and the way of student’s learning and the role of
teacher in aspect of student’s welfare and guidance.
I had chosen the SekolahKebangsaanSeribong, Kota Bharu, Kelantan to carry out
my School Based Experience (SBE). I choose this school because it is near to my
house. I got my classmate, Muhammad Zulhairi bin Zulkifli also carry out the SBE here
together with another two membersfronInstitutPendidikan Guru KampusTunkuBainun.,
2. NajihahbintiMohdZahidi and Wan Ahmad Dani. This school also had an excellent
achievement in the aspect of academic and curriculum.
Besides teaching, a teacher also needs to become the manager in a classroom.
Teachers need to manage the daily routine of the classroom, managing the pupils to do
the activity in the classroom, know how to arrange the seating of students and the
equipment in the class, managing the movement of students in the class and teaching
materials for teaching and learning process. Why? So that the process will be more
effective and can control the discipline of students in the classroom.
The effectiveness of teaching and learning in the classroom depends on the social
interactions and activities between the teachers and the students. The social
interactions that I meant are:
i. Interaction between teachers and students
ii. Interaction between students and students
iii. Interaction between students and the materials of learning
From my observation, the teachers at SekolahKebangsaanSeribong had done a
great job. They can manage their class very well. I can saw that their students were
followed their orders. All the activities were conducted in a good situation and involved
almost all the students in the classroom.
The arrangement of the students was in a good and effective for learning to take
place. Everyone can give their attention to the teachers without any obstacle. The
classroom also was clean and it was good for health. All the students throw rubbish into
the dustbin outside the classroom.
The interaction between the teachers and the students also were positive. Teachers
mostly can delivered the information smoothly to the student while students can
received it as maximum as they can. There were lacks of disruptive behaviors in the
classroom. The teachers also have the sense of humor, so that the teaching and
learning process will not be boring. Through this, student’semotion was controlled and
enjoyed the teaching and learning process.
3. For those who have succeeded with flying colors; there were some learning
approaches that have been practiced. Researchers also haveproduced some effective
learning approaches.
It's up to the students to choose the learning techniques that most easily for themto
get understand and follow. Example:
i. Not wasting a time even a minute
ii. Bring a book wherever they go
iii. Study at the early morning
iv. Make a short notes
v. Try to answer the last year question
vi. Always ask if you do not understand
vii. Always visiting the library
viii. Balancing the time for academic and curriculum
ix. Avoid emotional disturbance
From my observation, the students at SekolahKebangsaanSeribong had practiced
the way of learning with efficiently and effectively. Why? I attended to the school at the
early of the morning, around 7.15 a.m. and I walked around the school. I saw many
students were studied in the classroom while some of them were cleaned the
classroom. They also have a good habit where they always carry a book with them
wherever they go. Thanks to their headmistress for this new renewal, so that the
students will not waste any time without doing anything.
During the teaching and learning process, I can saw that the students will raise their
hands to ask the teacher if they do not understand about something. They also always
spend their time at the library especially at the recess time.
Overall, the SekolahKebangsaanSeribong’s students have a good practiced and a
nice pattern of learning.
A teacher must be concerned about the welfare and the safety of the students from
other things. Teachers also must be fair to all students regardless of economic factors,
physical, mental, emotional, political, social, race and religion. Teachers also must have
a good physique in terms of dresses, speeches and gives a good example to students.
Teachers should not teach just to get rewards. Teacher guides or teaches the students
without expecting a reward.
4. At SekolahKebangsaanSeribong, I observed that the teachers really caring for the
students. For example, every morning, the poor students were given a free breakfast
called “RancanganMakananTambahan (RMT). The school administrators also always
give the alms during the Ramadhan.
As we know, the mission of the Ministry of Education is to develop the student’s
potential of a comprehensive and integrated, and developing the national education
system to become an international center of excellence. Therefore, teachers must
realize the strategy of the Ministry of Education which focuses on aspects of curriculum
implementation for developing the potential of the students in terms of intellectual,
physical, emotional and spiritual as a whole and integrated based on the belief in and
devotion to God.
Therefore, teachers must equip themselves to become a model to the student.
Besides that, the management and administration need to improve the infrastructure, so
that, the teaching and learning process can be done optimally.
Through my observation, I find that all the members of
SekolahKebangsaanSeribong were practicing a very conducive style for teaching and
learning process. The teachers can manage the classroom very well, the way and the
pattern of the student’s learning are good and the teachers play their role in aspects of
welfare and guidance nicely.
