My philosophy on what it takes to be an outstanding teacher
1. My philosophy on what it takes to be an outstanding teacher.
An outstanding teacher must have patience and he or she must be flexible
and ready to change lesson plans, or teach different courses if needed. A great
educator is someone who knows their students' aspirations and is sensitive to their
feelings and needs. They set individual goals for their students and bigger goals for
the entire class. The students meet those goals at the end of each trimester and
school year.
Great teachers master their content and work hard at being on the cutting
edge of education because they are always thirsting for knowledge. I believe that
inquiry learning is the best way to teach new concepts to students. I also believe
that successful teachers use technology in the classroom to enhance the educational
experience for their students.
A great teacher will adjust lesson plans in order to achieve success for all
their students. An outstanding teacher works cooperatively with colleagues and
administrators and is a master facilitator that creates a classroom culture that
promotes inquiry learning, lifelong learning, relevant and rigorous instruction, and
differentiated instruction techniques that highlight and incorporate useful
technology. They also plan instruction to promote multiple intelligences.
An outstanding teacher provides a classroom culture that promotes respect,
integrity among the classroom at large, as well as honesty among all individuals.
This is achieved through the promotion of self-efficacy among students. My role is
to facilitate and lead instruction that provides rigorous and relevant instruction
incorporating proper formative assessment techniques, the use of education
technology, project based learning, and a focus on literacy. Through the use of the
Common Core Curriculum, and Social Studies lessons that are unique in nature, this
will help the students achieve the critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in a
21st century learning environment. Class discussions as well as the use of journal
writings are essential in promoting these accomplishments.
I believe that a superior teacher has many great attributes. These qualities
are not only important to have in a professional setting at work, but they are also
essential in life outside the classroom. I know that colleagues, parents, and students
can see that I possess these characteristics. I always treat students and everyone
with respect and dignity because that is how I want to be treated. That is how you
gain respect and become a leader. I am also known for working hard by showing up
early in the morning well before the bell rings, and staying after school for an
extended period of time. I believe that if you are on time, many great things can
happen. Instilling that value into my students will be paramount. Having a sense of
humor makes for a relaxed and disciplined atmosphere in the classroom. The
students do not want someone teaching them who is stone-faced at all times.
