Ageism In TV Shows
In this blog, I will be analyzing "Modern Family." The actor is will be looking at is Ed O'Neil, he
was also in "Married with Children" a Fox Network production. I will also briefly analyze his wife
in the TV show "Modern Family," Sofia Vergara. The book talks about how ageism is differ by
gender. "In our society, women are more likely to be evaluated according to their sexual
attractiveness, whereas men are more likely to be evaluated by their occupational success," (Jill
Quadagno 2014, p. 13). I have seen this in my personal life as well; some people say that men with
grey hair are sexy. Yet for women this is criticized, go to a Salon and pay money to cover their grey
hair Now, I'm going to analyze the way aging characters are portrayed in TV shows, more
specifically in "Modern Family." In the show, Ed O'Neil is around 65–70 years old. He has wrinkles,
grey hair, and he is a millionaire. Nice house with a swimming pool, nice cars, and the wife has
everything she needs and wants. He also, has two kids. Both kids are older and had children on their
own. He has a son and a daughter. Both kids were from the previous wife he had. His wife is played

Ed O'Neil has money, cars, nice house, and a hot wife. I'm assuming is everything a man wants in
his life. The interesting part of this is the collection of what has to happen in order for this to
marriage "to work". By "work" I'm referring to the TV factors to attract audience. Because TV only
has 30 minutes to 1 hour to intrigued audience, their answer to this problem is stereotypes of male
ageism. Another stereotype that they use in this TV show is that he is the "old grumpy man." He
don't show much emotions unless he is grumpy. In Married with Children's, Ed O'Neil is the
grumpiest old man of all. Yet in this show he was not as old but they still portray his as the "old
grumpy man." Both TV shows are funny, yet they promote

Racial Diversity In TV Shows
Researchers have stated that if things were to change within the TV productions then maybe there
could be a change financially. There are many statistics that show that many shows and movies do
not seem to grow and researchers have stated that it could be because of the lack of diversity that
many people may get bothered by. "However, the 25 movies with casts 21 to 30 percent
Black/Latino/Asian had by far the highest median global box office, at $160.1 million. The next
highest median global box office came from films with 11 to 20 percent Blacks/Latinos/Asians, at
$75.5 million. The 88 films with the least diverse casts had a median global box office of just $68.5
million"(Lin). This shows that if TV shows and movies were to change the racial diversity in their
shows or movies that they could possibly have a high positive effect instead of continuing not to
grow. The research showed that with a good amount of racial diversity there was a lot more money
made than there was without so much ethnicity. It was later shown in other statistics that there were
more viewers who watched the show when the diversity was more open up than when it was not.
"The highest–rated broadcast dramas and comedies, with a median household rating of 5.84, were
shows with 41 to 50 percent Black/Latino/Asian casts. Shows with casts 31 to 40 percent
Black/Latino/Asian had a 5.02 median household rating. Shows with the least diverse casts had a
median household rating of 3.79"(Lin). This research shows

The TV Show Number
This quote makes me think of the TV show Number. One of the main characters is a mathematician
and uses numbers to find patterns and make predictions to help solve crimes. The show is a bit of a
stretch but it certainly supports this point and shows how mathematics really apply in many aspects
of life. This quote is so accurate and makes mathematics a beautiful thing. This quote makes me
think about the importance of teaching for understanding. Since "mathematics is a science of pattern
and order" it is something that is logical and can be figured out. Therefore, it is the teachers job to
guide students in math discovery. The teacher can help students to really explore math concepts,
looking at problems from many different perspectives. Simply

Stereotypes In Tv Shows
T.V. shows are fun to watch. However, have you noticed that many T.V. shows have the same actors,
in the same stereotypes, just because of how they look. But, have you noticed that many of these
stereotypes have been taken to extremes? I believe that stereotypes in T.V. are unrealistic, and
exaggerated. Stereotypes such as blondes being stupid, Nerds being weak, and awkward, and
popular people being rude, all have been exaggerated by Hollywood to the point where it's
unrealistic!
One good stereotype that shows up often is the narrow–minded blonde that only cares about fashion.
The best example of this is Emma Ross, from Bunk'd. She dosen't understand many simple
concepts, but is very knowledgeable in fashion. Next, we the Sharpettes. They only care about
fashion, and therefore perfectly fit the stereotype. Lastly, we have Liv Rooney from Liv and
Maddie. Maddie has an astute eye for fashion, but is very narrow–minded, and only cares about
fashion. However, in one episode, they show her not as dimwitted, but as a robotics whiz, so she
does have a knack for robots like her two brothers, but still has no care for robots. ... Show more

I can attest to the offense, and strongly say, that we will not partake in purposefully making verbose
phrases more verbose, therefore making them awkward. Some examples of this include : Ravi,
Anais, and Joey .The most pronounced examples being Ravi, and Joey; they always seem to know
everything, are awkward to anyone but their family. Moreover, in one episode Ravi got robbed by a
bug, a bug! Although, Anais isn't particularly weak, she is very slow, and powerless, therefore

Power In The Tv Show
Today we will be talking about the t.v. show "power", it's a very popular tv show on Starz,
supposedly it's being watched all around the world. A guy name 50 cent owns the television show he
also uses to be a rapper, I believe he made that show to show people what it's like to have power, but
the kind of mobster power. Power like: having control over the city and having connections through
here and there. It has killing, sex, drug use and all you would expect from a rated R tv show. I
suggest you watch the tv show to learn how people like rappers or club owners like the one main
characters he goes by ghost. his real name is James in the tv show, it will show you how people like
him got power and respect on the streets., and its a lot of

The Show Supernatural : TV Is The Best TV Show
Everyone has their own guilty pleasures in life. Mine just happens to be binge watching the show
"Supernatural". Let me tell you all, when the show was rather new, I used to hate it. All of Dean and
Sam's man pain was annoying, the fact that they still lie to each other, even though they promised
each other they wouldn't lie to each other anymore, is was annoying. The entire show just annoyed
me anytime it came on and I would always make someone change the channel. It wasn't until I was
in eight grade and I was taking a summer writing camp that I decided to give the show another shot.
Shout out to the girl who would always talk about it; Sorry I can't remember your name. Anyway,
since then this show has easily became my favorite thing in the entire world. Without a doubt, this
show would not have lasted as long as it has without the amazing cast and crew working as hard as
they do. Here are ten reason why the "Supernatural" cast is the best TV cast ever.
1. Jared Padalecki's depression campaign.
If you are a "Supernatural" fan of any magnitude, you may know that Jared had started a fight
against depression campaign called "Always Keep Fighting". Jared opened about his own struggle
with depression in hopes of allowing other kids and adults to see that they are not alone in this fight
and that they should always keep fighting. I have always been a fan of Jared since his "Gilmore
Girls" days but after learning this, the admiration I had for him grew so much larger.

Tv Shows In The 1950's
The world has grown and evolved in so many ways. One of the most revolutionary, man–made,
everyday appliance for your house hold is the TV. The TV has brought so much more to a person's
finger tips at a click of a button and flipping to a channel to what they want to see. You can watch
different food programs, where to buy things, what is going on in everyday American life knows as
the "News". Or just a show on TV for entertainment. And the list goes on and so forth.
The first time televisions were available in experimental forms was in the 1920's. By the 1950's,
TV's were found everywhere. Common in homes, businesses, and institutions. Back then, television
was used for News reports on what is going on in the world, and public opinion. ... Show more

You can do many things involving a TV to do more than just something to do. You can almost watch
any kind of thing you can think of or may want to learn. Almost every children's school has TV's
throughout the buildings. A lot of learning lessons in school use videos to help present and learn new
subjects. Many of the child television shows you find on Cable Networks have some kind of
educational/learning benefits to the shows. Even when I was young I remember watching Elmo, and
everyday there was a new number and letter I learned. As much as they say so much TV fries your
brain, it can fill it with a lot of information as well.
There are more than just educational shows for kids. They have all types of educational television
shows for kids and up. You can what the Discovery Channel and learn about the wild. If you feel
like it, go to the store and buy tapes and/or DVD's that will teach you a different language. Many
people like to use video preferences to help teach them cook certain recipes and watch the video as
they make the product.
The effects of watching Television on adolescents are tremendous. It has grown with us humans and
has help up grow as humans all of these years. From my point of view, all I see is nothing more than
improvement and success with the more years to come we have with our evolving knowledge with

Tv Show Structure
This essay is a discussion into the ways in which a specific television programmes structure and
style is used to address its intended audience within today's media. I will be investigating how the
specific elements of the show tell us as the audience who it is predominantly aimed towards. I will
also focus on how television has been constructed for women and how this assumed viewer affects
the way in which a programme is structured and its style. Television has frequently been described
as to some degree feminised medium and tends to be associated around the domestic sphere. For this
reason, I have chosen to look more into this in relation to Coronation Street. Research has shown
that 63% of women watch soap opera as opposed to men who are exhibiting 37% percent of the
demographic ("Who Watches EastEnders and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, while to some extent it could appear that men tend to dominate the television industry, it can
be argued that the ever–growing dominance of female characters within shows indicates a change in
the relationship between females and TV viewing. Coronation Street and this episode accomplishes
this using different varieties of female characters that they hope will represent the female viewership
and have a depiction of both the traditional woman and the modern woman. An example of this is
Sally Webster, who is the embodiment of the modern working woman. To the audience it would
appear that she has a certain aura of confidence and authority, especially around male characters
such as her husband. However, within this episode, she also shows her maternal and nurturing side
when she is talking about her daughter being upset and that she wanted to go and see her. This is
typically how an audience to a certain extent would generally expect a woman to

The Impact Of The Tv Shows In The 1950s
The 1950s had many impacts in the United States that changed the ways things are now. In the
1950s there was many inventions that were made but the one that changed america was The TV. The
TV allowed people to catch up with things that were happening in the world and they were able to
watch TV shows such as "I love Lucy", "Leave It To Beaver", "Father Knows Best", and " The
Honeymooners". These shows were "entertainment" but however some of the TV shows were
inappropriate for kids and even adults. Intersections and highways were the next attraction to the
folks in the 1950s. This changed many ways for them to travel and go places, get there fast and it
changed the transportation of cars in general. A very important war that is not talked about

Reality Tv Shows
Based on these criteria qualified industries were call centres and reality TV shows. In deciding
between these alternatives, I interviewed a few stakeholders within the call centre and media
industries. The feedback was that there is minimal use of video interviewing within these industries,
which suggests a blue ocean opportunity. In addition, we had a conversation with the CEO of Kira
Talent. We discovered that Kira Talent had pitched to companies with huge call centre operations
previously, but gained minimal traction. This was attributed to insufficient appreciation for the
presentation skills of the candidates in the current recruitment process. We recommend that, Kira
Talent should enter into the audition of reality TV shows, because the applicant pool is quite large
and for every season, new set of candidates are interviewed. Further, this industry values camera–
facing skills to improve the ratings of the show. We believe that the company will gain traction
faster in the US because of larger market and more awareness.
7.3 Overview– Reality TV industry
By definition, reality TV is essentially unscripted programming that does not employ actors but
focuses on footage of real events or situations. Reality TV has been dominating the TV industry
since the late 90s and has increased to 57% of all television shows. US and Canada account for 930
reality TV shows. Some shows such as American Idol and Americas Next Top Model run on a
recurring season format and grow in

Tv Show Satire
Final Paper Rough Draft
Auston Collins Ever since their inception in the early 1930's, television programs have
revolutionized the United States in countless ways. From informing millions about current news to
allowing sports fans to watch their team playing across the country, television has truly been one of
the most revolutionary inventions of the past century. More recently, television programs have
begun to comment and take a position on current events. In particular, satire has been very common,
as it uses wit and irony to critique certain aspects of society. One show in particular, It's Always
Sunny in Philadelphia, frequently uses comedic satire in its' episodes. The program follows four
unethical, lazy friends that own an unsuccessful bar outside Philadelphia. Due to the gang's frequent
premature judgments and twisted views, they often find themselves in troubling situations that only
get worse before they begin to get better. Through the particular style of television this show uses,
the viewer is able to laugh at how senseless its' character's actions are in order to highlight certain
social issues. 'The Gang Gets Racist' episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia uses satire to
criticize modern day racism as well as homophobia through the dysfunctional humor of its
characters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Favorite TV Shows
How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, The Office, and The Big Bang Theory are among the top TV
programs from the 2000s. Accordingly, each of the programs listed above have made their own
ingenious contributions to modern TV programs. Nevertheless, one of my all–time favorite TV
programs is also from the 2000s and has made its own impact on modern tv. The TV show that
stands at the top of my list is Scrubs. Because of the brilliant internal monologue of the protagonist,
the unique comedic style, and the exceptional music selections, Scrubs is my all–time favorite TV
show. One of the best aspects of Scrubs is the internal monologues of the protagonist John Dorian,
who goes by J.D. In each episode of Scrubs, J.D.'s soliloquies present a problem or dilemma that he
or one of the supporting characters is experiencing. The issues presented in the show elicit empathy
and are applicable to everyday life. For instance, postpartum depression, self–image issues, and
death are among the issues that the show covers, which makes the show relatable and heartfelt. Not
only does each episode address a problem or dilemma, additionally, the last internal monologue of
the episode wraps up with an applicable life lesson. One the of episodes that dealt with marital
issues between J.D.'s best friend, Turk, and his best friend's wife, Carla, concludes with a soliloquy
that states, "Nothing in this world worth having comes easy." The internal monologue of this
episode encourages the audience to not give

Tv Show Flashpoint
Journal Entry #3 For this journal I chose to review the television show Flashpoint, viewed on March
26, 2016. I picked season four episode two "Good Guy" for this journal because it's based on the
reputation of a police officer. This episode is taking place after a police officer shoots a young black
man. There is an uproar and the Police Strategic Response Unit (SRU) are there to escort the police
officer to an airport to get away from the attention of the dead man's family and the other hateful
protestors. The riot makes the mission impossible because the unit cannot make it past the doors
without getting ambushed by a mob of angry citizens. The main issue this episode addresses is the
truth behind police officers. It could also be based on a white police officer shooting a black young
man but it's mainly about the job the police officer has. Most citizens believe that police officers
often use their gun for force or to get the job done. In class we've talked about some police officers
not even using their gun throughout their career. This episode is based on that. However, the truth
doesn't come out until the end. The young man's family is quite upset because the charges against
the officer were dropped. They want the officer to pay for what they did to their young son. In trying
to show the police officer what he had done and what should be done to him created chaos. A bunch

Stereotypes Of Reality TV Shows
"Diversity is everywhere." Is it really everywhere? Even on our television shows? Many would beg
to differ. Throughout the course of television history, we see television ranging from documentaries
to drama to reality. As there is drama and comedy on our screens there isn't a healthy range of races
or ethnicities throughout TV shows. In 2017, we live in an America with over millions of people of
different backgrounds, but that does not seem to reflect how it is represented on television shows.
The portrayal of diversity on our television screens isn't shown as much as it is seen throughout
America, thus creating stereotypes of multiple minorities and unflattering perceptions from less
educated viewers. Reality TV is a hot contender regarding the number of minority groups seen.
Stereotypes are already made based on what others believe, however television shows create an
even deeper stereotype of minority groups. "Reality TV shows like The Jersey Shore... rely on
stereotypes of minority groups for entertainment. Careful editing exaggerate these stereotypes and
help producers create the story they want to tell...The outrage expressed by some Italian–Americans
over MTV's "Jersey Shore" marks a late–in–coming epiphany about reality TV programs..."
(Braxton). We see that creators of well–known TV shows rely on the received idea of certain
minority groups, in this case it's Italian–Americans and the hit reality TV show Jersey Shore. Writers
of certain shows depict groups of people

People do these little things everyday. Sometimes, though, it can go to extremes. Recently, my class

jumping. These shows have some defining similarities that make them comparable. One of these

Inequality In Tv Shows
Are there too many white people on television? An easier question might be: are there not enough
people on television who aren't white? It is true that the glowing magic box in our living room does
more than just entertain, it molds and affects our opinions of the people represented on screen, and
can even transfer into how people feel about race and culture. It goes without saying that because of
the way media can shape opinions, there should be an accurate and equal representation of the
people it portrays. In the early days, any movie that featured other ethnicities than just white was
held as highly controversial. A black person didn't even appear on television until 1939, and a

"White Americans will be a minority by 2045, maybe sooner. It makes good business sense for

America is not 'white America'; it is a melting pot of cultures and languages and ethnicities that are
growing and expanding––and according to Lee––eventually outnumbering their white counterparts.
Hollywood is currently not diversifying as fast as America is, and that's a problem. During the years
that the UCLA conducted a diversity report, and found during the years surveyed––2012 and
2013––audiences were more fond of shows that depicted moderate diversity. (Hollywood Report,
2017) According to co–author of the report, Ana–Christina Ramone, "audiences, regardless of race,
are clamoring for more diverse content. The problem then does not lie with the masses watching
television, it lies with the producers, directors, studio heads, and other department chairs, that ignore
minority actors in favor of sticking to the same song and dance of white people, white people, white
people. Although it is shown that studios benefit from diversity, there is a lack of motivation to

Tv Show Maturity
I believe maturity is dependent on experience because you learn from the people around you. You
learn how they act, and what they say. All the sudden, you act that way too. The TV show the Good

didn't make it. Out of the entire family, nobody wanted to raise Shaun and his brother, so they ran
away. They started living on their own, trying to find money. Later in the show, the older brother
died after falling off a bus. I couldn't imagine how Shaun felt. Later, Shaun, went to college studying
the anatomy of the human body. Finally, he was recruited to work at a hospital. Now he is one of the

Tv Show Theories
When watching a TV show, people do not normally think about the significance of it or what hidden
meanings there are because they are just trying to enjoy the show. Theories are made up to explain
some of the things that people spot when watching a TV show and while many may not believe in
them, the theories make a lot of sense. When you do your research you see how the theories connect
to the show in many different ways which makes it seem like the theories are actually correct. For
instance, one of the most well known TV shows at the moment is Spongebob Squarepants. At first
glance it looks like it is about the life of a sponge who is a fry cook and all of his friends. No one
questioned why this sponge could talk or how they could cook things underwater until a reasonable
explanation surfaced to explain it. According to Jennifer Lewis, there was a place called Bikini Atoll
that was used for nuclear arms testing. Due to the radiation from the tests that took place there,
things that could not talk before could suddenly talk, like Spongebob, and things underwater could
suddenly be cooked by using the radiation. Spongebob and his friends live underneath Bikini Atoll
which is why their town is called Bikini Bottom. Another example of a show that could actually be
different than what it seems is The Flinstones. The story is supposed to be about a caveman ... Show

Stereotypes Of Reality Tv Shows
As of today, television has become one of the most popular sources for entertainment over the
world. In our generation, reality tv have one of the highest rates on television; But have you ever
wonder what type of impact this has on our generation? In fact, reality tv promote a dangerous
stereotype in many different ways. For an example, the tv show "Jersey shore" give the Latin–
American a bad image. In addition, others will have a bad perspective on how New Jersey is viewed
to the world. Therefore, reality tv promotes a dangerous stereotype on cultures, genders and norms
over the world.
Jersey Shore is a popular American reality television series that was originated in 2009. The show
was about eight Latin–Americans that stayed in New Jersey, spending their summer on the jersey
shore. This television series reinforced the stereotypical image of Latin–American behaving in a
bad–mannered. However, it gave viewers the imagine that the Jersey shore is a place to tan and
party all day. For this reason, Latin–Americans are judged because of this reality show giving
Italians a bad image. Also, viewers will view New Jersey as a poor–quality place where you go to
party. Meanwhile, the reality tv show continues to promote a dangerous stereotype on Latin–
Americans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This show has stereotyped Italians to have vulgar behavior and party animals. As a result, now
people around the world have painted a bad image of Latin–Americans. For an example, this has
caused people in other states and countries to believe that this is the type of behavior that Italians
portrays and is right. Which is untrue, because reality television isn't real and most shows only show
the bad for entertainment purposes. While this may be true, Television series could damage the way
the world is actually viewed in reality. Overall, this persona stereotyped Latin–American of how

Unappropriate Tv Shows for Children
Unappropriate Television Shows Abstract Children are being influenced by television shows on a
daily basis. Some children are watching inappropriate television shows such as SpongeBob, Fish
Hooks, Family Guy, South Park, Ed, Edd, Eddy, Scooby–Doo, Boondocks and etc. These shows can
affect children as they grow up in many ways such as using profanity, violent and aggressive
behavior, poor school performance and watch too much television may cause a slight obesity. There
are many educational television shows that are best for child to watch such as Barney, Blue's Clue,
Dora the Explorer and etc. Parent should also limit the amount of time children spend watching

How is there such a big impact on them just because of watching television? Television can affect
learning and school performance if it interferes with the time kids need for activities crucial to
healthy mental and physical development. Some shows (SpongeBob) teaches that it is fine to
commit an inappropriate action because there will not be a punishment and kids feel that if they do
the same thing as their favorite character from the program who committed the crime they will be a
hero. Researchers have identified three potential responses to media violence in children: increase
fear, desensitization to real life violence, and increase aggressive behavior. It may desensitve kids so
much they think it is okay and no big deal for somebody to be hit or to hit someone in the head with
a hammer. Kids who view violent acts are more likely to show aggressive behavior, but also fear
that the world is scary and that everyday something bad will happen. Scary–looking things like
grotesque monsters especially frighten children aged two to seven. Telling them that the images
aren't real does not help because kids under age eight can't always tell the difference between
fantasy and reality (Television and Children). When watching a television shows usually every
episode has a bad situation or a lot of drama in it so kids will start to have that mind frame that
things will happen to them just like on the show. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

SKINS TV SHOW
Focus Question: What lessons and issues does the show portray that might teach and catch attention
to its viewers?
When it comes to the show "Skins", viewers will automatically picture dramatic scenarios that you
usually do not experience in an everyday life like the characters in this show did. In this show, you
will notice very dramatic episodes that involve love, hate, cheating, abuse of drugs, violence, death,
and more. It all depends on the viewer when it comes to how they take in the moral of each situation
taking place. It is said that some viewers do not appreciate some things that occur during this show
because of the message that it brings out to young teenagers of today's world. Protesters against

This hype was called "The Moral Panic. "A moral panic is said to be the term for an issue that is
exploited by the media and moral authorities in society due to its controversial nature. When a
media panic occurs, it is usually when an episode, person, group, or condition emerges to become
defined as a threat to societal values and interests. This occurs when the situation is stylized in
stereotypical fashion by the mass media including people who are usually "right thinking people".
(Cohen, 1973) When the moral structure of society is seen as threatened, there are many steps that
happen that turn the controversy into a media panic. The TV show's main goal is to be an inside look
at the lives of average teenagers as they struggled with substance abuse, emotional issues, and
sexuality. Some viewers might go into depth with this meaning, though. This mix of topics led the
Parental Television Council (PTC) to strongly oppose the show. The show was rated TV–MA on
MTV which means the content is unsuitable for audience members under the age of seventeen. This
rating caught the attention of many people and activists groups, such as the Parental Television
Council, that would publicly oppose the show's content. The controversy stirring because of the
show involves the Parental Television Council giving a "red light" because the show may include
explicit dialogue, violent content, or mainly images that are unsuitable for children. Older viewers
refuse to acknowledge the meaning behind the show's purpose because of these reasons. The group
of protesters against this show explains that teenagers being displayed influence younger viewers to
commit crime or violence on school grounds, at home, or even attempt to commit other wrong–
doings. These protesters feel that the behavior on the show is "too graphic and extreme" for a young
audience or for young actors to be

Backstage TV Show
The showrunner Lara Azzopardi and I worked together on Martin Gero's The LA Complex and we
had a total "showmance." I adore Lara. We vowed to work together on every project for all time
ever. When Backstage was greenlit, she asked me to come on board as her right–hand woman. Best
experience of my life. She will also be directing my feature film The Swearing Jar, shooting later
this year and produced by my sister–in–law Jane Loughman! (David finally got something right.)
Why do you think Backstage TV has resonated so much with the fans?
Backstage never talks down to its audience. We made a grown–up show for kids, not a kids' show.
It's got humor, heart, real relationships, relatable characters, heartbreak, love, loss... and some kick–
ass dance, original music and visual art. I would watch this show, even if I wasn't working on it.
(Well, I would shame–watch it in the basement and wonder why I'm so obsessed with a tween soap.
But still.)
Also, the cast is out of this world. They have so much discipline and commitment. More than most
adults!
Do you have a favorite episode or two of Backstage TV?

The Office Tv Show
Do you have a boss that can sometimes drive you up a wall? Or how about a co worker that always
seems to have something to say? If so, then The Office is just the right show for you. The Office,
first airing in 2005, is a comedy about employees at Dunder Mifflin, the local paper company in
Scranton, Pennsylvania. This TV show is meant to mock a reality TV show about the daily lives of
those who work in an office selling "high–quality" paper.

This nine–season show stars Steve Carell, John Krasinski, and Jenna Fischer. Popular characters
include: Michael Scott, Branch Manager; Jim Halpert, paper salesman and prankster; Pam Beasley,
receptionist; and Dwight Schrute, paper salesman and beat farmer. These characters, along with the
many others, experience trauma in the office, love triangles, and the common nuisance of Michael

the show; however, the show lost significant ratings due to this move. The second element that I did
not enjoy was Karen. Truthfully, she was a very annoying, self–centered character that was a waste

Tv Show Diversity
What really is considered too white? Why doesn't tv show more of a color diversity? Should
television even be used to demonstrate equality between whites and people of color? Although it
may be true, there are statically more white's than black's in the U.S. ranging from 75.1% to 12.3%
according to the Demographic Statistics. However as the years continue on, equality between
African Americans and whites are still being battled throughout the U.S. as African Americans are
still being slandered for the color of their skin. So as a fellow African American citizen myself,
television wouldn't be a bad start to show how people of color and whites can actually get along on
the big screen. On the year of 1939, the first African American television show called "The Ethel
Waters Showed." aired on NBC for the first time ever. A woman by the name, Ethel Waters along
with the African Americans actresses Fredi Washington and Georgette Harvery performed a
dramatic sequence from her hit play Mamba's Daughters.(African American Registry) This played a
big part within the African American community being the first black television on air, because of

Friends : A Television Show : Television Is A TV Show
Pre–Test Persuasive Essay Friends is a hit television (TV) show, and has been since 1994 when it
first came out. The television show follows the lives of six friends throughout the course of 10
years. Friends is a superb TV show despite some people's opinions. The show was at the top of the
charts for the years that it ran, and even more after that. The theme song itself was number 1 for 8
weeks, and after that was still within the top numbers (Billboard Staff, 2015). Even though the show
is aimed for a mature audience, it captures the qualities a hit TV show needs. Friends is a good TV
show due to the fact that it is a comedy, includes lots of plot twists, and follows one basic storyline.
To begin, the genre of Friends is comedy. This is the ideal genre for this show because comedies
keep people in a positive mood while they watch it. Even on a lousy day, a comedy can " amuse,
entertain, and provoke enjoyment," (AMC Filmsite, 2017). Also, comedy is one of the most popular
choices within adult audiences. 52% of adults watch comedy TV shows, with the only category
having a higher percentage being movies at 58% (Scarborough, 2013). As well as, comedy can mean
more than one thing. Multiple types of comedy exist, as there are many ways to make someone
laugh. Friends does a very good job of touching on many different kinds of comedy. Friends is one
of the most popular genres of television, and includes elements that draw people's interest.

The Stereotypes Of Reality TV Shows
Reality Tv Shows The Stereotypes Being Promoted by Reality Tv Watching television is one of the
most common things an average american does, if I were to walk around my neighborhood and ask
every single household if they own a TV, i'm positive that everyone or MOSTLY everyone would
say yes. That being said, it makes sense that what is put on our TV screens can influence and affect
people in great ways. I personally watch reality TV way more than any other genre, I usually watch
the same shows season after season and just recently had a thought cross my mind. Which was
"Wow, a lot of these reality shows I watch make a lot of people look bad, and depending on what the
show is based on can represent the same thing for OTHER people just like them". This thought
crossed my mind while I was watching a reality show called Jersey Shore, as I was watching I
realized how the cast members are all very similar. All italian, all in new jersey and all enjoy and
pursue similar things, which can make a person think: Hmm are all italian people like that? Do all
people from new jersey act like that? When I mentioned these thoughts to my friend he disagreed
with me and said it's not true, and that it won't make people think anything like that. I disagree with
my friend so it had me thinking does reality TV really promote strong stereotypes on things/people
like I think, or is it just me? Why People Disagree I asked my friend to give me an explanation on
why he disagreed that reality

This TV series was inspired by comic books. All good TV series have their crutch that makes them
brilliant, be they the dynamic between Mulder and Scully, the surreal feeling of grounding in the
Sopranos, to the intricate science of CSI. This TV show took the risk of using Movie–style action
scenes, which is risky because it is often very expensive if you want to make it look good.
Considering the fact they had a TV budget, they have done a good job.
Despite the seemingly silly premise, they have inserted quite a few smart plotlines and clever
character arcs. The problem is that the series takes a long time to come into its own. You do not get

Some episodes are filler episodes, which is endemic of a TV series that is based strongly on one
over–riding story arc. They have had to put in a few filler episodes to stretch it out a little. It is not a

through. Overall, it was a risky endeavor given the premise and the reliance on returning viewers
that are aware of the plot, but it seems to have paid off this time.

political party's establishments due to their content. For example, in the United States, some had
accused media companies of being biased towards a political party while they clearly support the

elements of truth in it. Since it is undeniable that the media industry is in one way or another

For example, in a Disney cartoon show, DuckTales which ran from 1987 to 1990, there are many
moments in which the creators try to portray that capitalism is a better way of life compared to
Socialism or Communism (Dofman and Mattelart, 1975). In the book, How to Read Donald Duck
(1975), it is argued that the Donald Duck character is an excessively materialistic character which
values money among other things (Dofman and Mattelart, 1975). The book also argues that there are
multiple moments in the cartoon shows which shows that the characters are only successful in their
career and ultimately their life after they are able to achieve great wealth while the poor and
working class are looked down upon. Since the show was released towards the end of the Cold War,
it could be said that the show was heavily influenced by the American economical ideology which is
consumerism due to the United States being in the Capitalist bloc. Apart from the United States, the
DuckTales show was also aired in other countries such as The United Kingdom, New Zealand and
Australia, it is clear that the show was made not only as a propaganda medium to influence to
American people but also people worldwide, especially children into believing that Capitalism is the
only way of life. Thus, it is only wise to theorise that the show could be created as a part of the Cold
War itself as it undermines the Communism ideology that was practiced in Soviet Union during that
time. In the book, How to read film (1977), the writer suggested that the character Donald Duck
would had been different if the United States didn't adhere to the capitalist ideology (Monaco,

The Importance Of TV Shows
The millisecond that Parks and Rec clicks into focus on the television screen, something magical

that is all people seek when watching shows. I am what is referred to as an extreme case of a TV
addict, but I prefer the terminology of enthusiast. In my lifetime, I have watched over 100 shows,

Semiotics In Tv Show
Semiotics, also known as semiology, is the study of signs, symbols, and signification. Signs and
symbols are hidden throughout television shows and movies, especially in crime dramas like NCIS.
Shows like this are notorious for having discreet connections between different points of the story.
In one particular episode entitled "Missing," a Marine, Bill Atlas, disappears from a bar where, just
moments before, he was having a paranoid conversation with a reporter. Before leaving, Atlas
finishes a drink brought to him by the bartender, who says it's from a secret admirer. He goes outside
to smoke a cigarette and before he could even light it he losses consciousness. Atlas soon wakes up
chained to pole next to a decomposing body, and immediately knows why this is all happening, but
not who is doing it. ("Missing"). Throughout the entire episode, Atlas is trapped in a cell located in
the sewers experiencing several different forms of torture, that the audience later learns are
intentional signs. Starvation and leaving the dead body inside the cell are the more standard methods
Atlas' captor uses, but the audience is shocked when the next method is imposed. The mysterious

Representation In TV Shows
96.7% of people in the United States own a television. The majority of those people have at least
one show that they watch regularly. In some cases, it's even more than that. It's obvious, at least to
me, that TV shows and their characters are incredibly important to people. They have become more
than just a source of entertainment. TV shows are important to people because they encourage
representation, give people something to look forward to, and dive into moral issues. Representation
in TV shows is really important. The majority of conventionally attractive people in the media are
white, but TV shows are beginning to become more diverse. They are starting to portray people of
color in a positive light. A good example of representation in ... Show more content on

It's important for both young girls and women to see their gender portrayed as strong and capable of
taking care of themselves. The main character on Once Upon a Time, Emma Swan, is a strong
female character that has never been reduced to just a love interest. She has always been the writer
of her own story. One more example of a strong female is Jennifer Jareau from Criminal Minds. She
balances work and her family nearly flawlessly, and shows that women are capable of having a
family and a career. Clarke Griffin, from The 100, is one of the strongest characters, male or female,
that I've seen on TV in a long time. She leads her people fearlessly, and she is never looked at any
differently because of her gender. On top of that, she is canonically bisexual. Arrow and The Flash
are also good examples of strong women. None of the characters on either of those shows rely on
other people to save them. One character on Arrow, Felicity Smoak, is a hacker. She saves her
friends' lives from behind her computer on an almost daily basis. While she is not a conventionally
'strong' woman, she is still able to take care of herself, and she isn't treated like a lesser human being
because she is a female. That, to me, constitutes a strong woman. Sometimes, it is easier to get
through the day if you know that there is an episode of your favorite show waiting for you when you
get home. It gives you something to look forward to. TV shows also give people

Tv Show Indecency
In society today, watching television is one of America's favorite past–times. Television show
producers try to appeal to all types of people, and one way they have been doing so is by making
shows indecent. The media has been corrupted by the indecency in the world. When something is
indecent it is primarily explicit and makes offensive references. Indecency can be off–putting and
usually most people try to avoid being around it or watching it on television. Family Guy is indecent
for the reason that it is provocative and rude.
Being provocative is when something is enticing in a sexual way. When the word provocative is
used, some people get upset. Provocative can also be thought of as inviting. Television shows use
this to make their viewing rates higher. An example of how producers make the shows inviting, is
the woman. They have ladies dress scantily clad, which causes people to watch it, or simply say the
show is too provocative. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

show uses to display provocative behavior. The youngest child of the Griffins, Stewie, often is used
to display this indecent behavior. In one episode Stewie put on makeup and talked to his reflection
in inappropriate ways. A perfect and final example of how the show uses provocative humor is with

Ageism In TV Shows

  • 1. Ageism In TV Shows In this blog, I will be analyzing "Modern Family." The actor is will be looking at is Ed O'Neil, he was also in "Married with Children" a Fox Network production. I will also briefly analyze his wife in the TV show "Modern Family," Sofia Vergara. The book talks about how ageism is differ by gender. "In our society, women are more likely to be evaluated according to their sexual attractiveness, whereas men are more likely to be evaluated by their occupational success," (Jill Quadagno 2014, p. 13). I have seen this in my personal life as well; some people say that men with grey hair are sexy. Yet for women this is criticized, go to a Salon and pay money to cover their grey hair Now, I'm going to analyze the way aging characters are portrayed in TV shows, more specifically in "Modern Family." In the show, Ed O'Neil is around 65–70 years old. He has wrinkles, grey hair, and he is a millionaire. Nice house with a swimming pool, nice cars, and the wife has everything she needs and wants. He also, has two kids. Both kids are older and had children on their own. He has a son and a daughter. Both kids were from the previous wife he had. His wife is played ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ed O'Neil has money, cars, nice house, and a hot wife. I'm assuming is everything a man wants in his life. The interesting part of this is the collection of what has to happen in order for this to marriage "to work". By "work" I'm referring to the TV factors to attract audience. Because TV only has 30 minutes to 1 hour to intrigued audience, their answer to this problem is stereotypes of male ageism. Another stereotype that they use in this TV show is that he is the "old grumpy man." He don't show much emotions unless he is grumpy. In Married with Children's, Ed O'Neil is the grumpiest old man of all. Yet in this show he was not as old but they still portray his as the "old grumpy man." Both TV shows are funny, yet they promote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Racial Diversity In TV Shows Researchers have stated that if things were to change within the TV productions then maybe there could be a change financially. There are many statistics that show that many shows and movies do not seem to grow and researchers have stated that it could be because of the lack of diversity that many people may get bothered by. "However, the 25 movies with casts 21 to 30 percent Black/Latino/Asian had by far the highest median global box office, at $160.1 million. The next highest median global box office came from films with 11 to 20 percent Blacks/Latinos/Asians, at $75.5 million. The 88 films with the least diverse casts had a median global box office of just $68.5 million"(Lin). This shows that if TV shows and movies were to change the racial diversity in their shows or movies that they could possibly have a high positive effect instead of continuing not to grow. The research showed that with a good amount of racial diversity there was a lot more money made than there was without so much ethnicity. It was later shown in other statistics that there were more viewers who watched the show when the diversity was more open up than when it was not. "The highest–rated broadcast dramas and comedies, with a median household rating of 5.84, were shows with 41 to 50 percent Black/Latino/Asian casts. Shows with casts 31 to 40 percent Black/Latino/Asian had a 5.02 median household rating. Shows with the least diverse casts had a median household rating of 3.79"(Lin). This research shows ... • 3. The TV Show Number This quote makes me think of the TV show Number. One of the main characters is a mathematician and uses numbers to find patterns and make predictions to help solve crimes. The show is a bit of a stretch but it certainly supports this point and shows how mathematics really apply in many aspects of life. This quote is so accurate and makes mathematics a beautiful thing. This quote makes me think about the importance of teaching for understanding. Since "mathematics is a science of pattern and order" it is something that is logical and can be figured out. Therefore, it is the teachers job to guide students in math discovery. The teacher can help students to really explore math concepts, looking at problems from many different perspectives. Simply ... • 4. Stereotypes In Tv Shows T.V. shows are fun to watch. However, have you noticed that many T.V. shows have the same actors, in the same stereotypes, just because of how they look. But, have you noticed that many of these stereotypes have been taken to extremes? I believe that stereotypes in T.V. are unrealistic, and exaggerated. Stereotypes such as blondes being stupid, Nerds being weak, and awkward, and popular people being rude, all have been exaggerated by Hollywood to the point where it's unrealistic! One good stereotype that shows up often is the narrow–minded blonde that only cares about fashion. The best example of this is Emma Ross, from Bunk'd. She dosen't understand many simple concepts, but is very knowledgeable in fashion. Next, we the Sharpettes. They only care about fashion, and therefore perfectly fit the stereotype. Lastly, we have Liv Rooney from Liv and Maddie. Maddie has an astute eye for fashion, but is very narrow–minded, and only cares about fashion. However, in one episode, they show her not as dimwitted, but as a robotics whiz, so she does have a knack for robots like her two brothers, but still has no care for robots. ... A guy name 50 cent owns the television show he also uses to be a rapper, I believe he made that show to show people what it's like to have power, but the kind of mobster power. Power like: having control over the city and having connections through here and there. It has killing, sex, drug use and all you would expect from a rated R tv show. • 6. The Show Supernatural : TV Is The Best TV Show Everyone has their own guilty pleasures in life. Mine just happens to be binge watching the show "Supernatural". Let me tell you all, when the show was rather new, I used to hate it. All of Dean and Sam's man pain was annoying, the fact that they still lie to each other, even though they promised each other they wouldn't lie to each other anymore, is was annoying. The entire show just annoyed me anytime it came on and I would always make someone change the channel. It wasn't until I was in eight grade and I was taking a summer writing camp that I decided to give the show another shot. Shout out to the girl who would always talk about it; Sorry I can't remember your name. Anyway, since then this show has easily became my favorite thing in the entire world. Without a doubt, this show would not have lasted as long as it has without the amazing cast and crew working as hard as they do. Here are ten reason why the "Supernatural" cast is the best TV cast ever. 1. Jared Padalecki's depression campaign. If you are a "Supernatural" fan of any magnitude, you may know that Jared had started a fight against depression campaign called "Always Keep Fighting". Jared opened about his own struggle with depression in hopes of allowing other kids and adults to see that they are not alone in this fight and that they should always keep fighting. I have always been a fan of Jared since his "Gilmore Girls" days but after learning this, the admiration I had for him grew so much larger. 2. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first time televisions were available in experimental forms was in the 1920's. By the 1950's, TV's were found everywhere. Common in homes, businesses, and institutions. • 8. Tv Show Structure This essay is a discussion into the ways in which a specific television programmes structure and style is used to address its intended audience within today's media. I will be investigating how the specific elements of the show tell us as the audience who it is predominantly aimed towards. I will also focus on how television has been constructed for women and how this assumed viewer affects the way in which a programme is structured and its style. Television has frequently been described as to some degree feminised medium and tends to be associated around the domestic sphere. For this reason, I have chosen to look more into this in relation to Coronation Street. Research has shown that 63% of women watch soap opera as opposed to men who are exhibiting 37% percent of the demographic ("Who Watches EastEnders and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, while to some extent it could appear that men tend to dominate the television industry, it can be argued that the ever–growing dominance of female characters within shows indicates a change in the relationship between females and TV viewing. Coronation Street and this episode accomplishes this using different varieties of female characters that they hope will represent the female viewership and have a depiction of both the traditional woman and the modern woman. An example of this is Sally Webster, who is the embodiment of the modern working woman. To the audience it would appear that she has a certain aura of confidence and authority, especially around male characters such as her husband. However, within this episode, she also shows her maternal and nurturing side when she is talking about her daughter being upset and that she wanted to go and see her. This is typically how an audience to a certain extent would generally expect a woman to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Reality Tv Shows Based on these criteria qualified industries were call centres and reality TV shows. In deciding between these alternatives, I interviewed a few stakeholders within the call centre and media industries. The feedback was that there is minimal use of video interviewing within these industries, which suggests a blue ocean opportunity. In addition, we had a conversation with the CEO of Kira Talent. We discovered that Kira Talent had pitched to companies with huge call centre operations previously, but gained minimal traction. This was attributed to insufficient appreciation for the presentation skills of the candidates in the current recruitment process. We recommend that, Kira Talent should enter into the audition of reality TV shows, because the applicant pool is quite large and for every season, new set of candidates are interviewed. Further, this industry values camera– facing skills to improve the ratings of the show. We believe that the company will gain traction faster in the US because of larger market and more awareness. 7.3 Overview– Reality TV industry By definition, reality TV is essentially unscripted programming that does not employ actors but focuses on footage of real events or situations. Reality TV has been dominating the TV industry since the late 90s and has increased to 57% of all television shows. US and Canada account for 930 reality TV shows. • 14. Tv Show Satire Final Paper Rough Draft Auston Collins Ever since their inception in the early 1930's, television programs have revolutionized the United States in countless ways. From informing millions about current news to allowing sports fans to watch their team playing across the country, television has truly been one of the most revolutionary inventions of the past century. More recently, television programs have begun to comment and take a position on current events. In particular, satire has been very common, as it uses wit and irony to critique certain aspects of society. One show in particular, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, frequently uses comedic satire in its' episodes. The program follows four unethical, lazy friends that own an unsuccessful bar outside Philadelphia. Due to the gang's frequent premature judgments and twisted views, they often find themselves in troubling situations that only get worse before they begin to get better. Through the particular style of television this show uses, the viewer is able to laugh at how senseless its' character's actions are in order to highlight certain social issues. • 16. My Favorite TV Shows How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, The Office, and The Big Bang Theory are among the top TV programs from the 2000s. Accordingly, each of the programs listed above have made their own ingenious contributions to modern TV programs. Nevertheless, one of my all–time favorite TV programs is also from the 2000s and has made its own impact on modern tv. The TV show that stands at the top of my list is Scrubs. Because of the brilliant internal monologue of the protagonist, the unique comedic style, and the exceptional music selections, Scrubs is my all–time favorite TV show. One of the best aspects of Scrubs is the internal monologues of the protagonist John Dorian, who goes by J.D. In each episode of Scrubs, J.D.'s soliloquies present a problem or dilemma that he or one of the supporting characters is experiencing. The issues presented in the show elicit empathy and are applicable to everyday life. For instance, postpartum depression, self–image issues, and death are among the issues that the show covers, which makes the show relatable and heartfelt. Not only does each episode address a problem or dilemma, additionally, the last internal monologue of the episode wraps up with an applicable life lesson. One the of episodes that dealt with marital issues between J.D.'s best friend, Turk, and his best friend's wife, Carla, concludes with a soliloquy that states, "Nothing in this world worth having comes easy." • 17. Tv Show Flashpoint Journal Entry #3 For this journal I chose to review the television show Flashpoint, viewed on March 26, 2016. I picked season four episode two "Good Guy" for this journal because it's based on the reputation of a police officer. This episode is taking place after a police officer shoots a young black man. There is an uproar and the Police Strategic Response Unit (SRU) are there to escort the police officer to an airport to get away from the attention of the dead man's family and the other hateful protestors. The riot makes the mission impossible because the unit cannot make it past the doors without getting ambushed by a mob of angry citizens. The main issue this episode addresses is the truth behind police officers. It could also be based on a white police officer shooting a black young man but it's mainly about the job the police officer has. Most citizens believe that police officers often use their gun for force or to get the job done. In class we've talked about some police officers not even using their gun throughout their career. This episode is based on that. However, the truth doesn't come out until the end. The young man's family is quite upset because the charges against the officer were dropped. • 18. Stereotypes Of Reality TV Shows "Diversity is everywhere." Is it really everywhere? Even on our television shows? Many would beg to differ. Throughout the course of television history, we see television ranging from documentaries to drama to reality. As there is drama and comedy on our screens there isn't a healthy range of races or ethnicities throughout TV shows. In 2017, we live in an America with over millions of people of different backgrounds, but that does not seem to reflect how it is represented on television shows. The portrayal of diversity on our television screens isn't shown as much as it is seen throughout America, thus creating stereotypes of multiple minorities and unflattering perceptions from less educated viewers. Reality TV is a hot contender regarding the number of minority groups seen. Stereotypes are already made based on what others believe, however television shows create an even deeper stereotype of minority groups. "Reality TV shows like The Jersey Shore... rely on stereotypes of minority groups for entertainment. Careful editing exaggerate these stereotypes and help producers create the story they want to tell...The outrage expressed by some Italian–Americans over MTV's "Jersey Shore" marks a late–in–coming epiphany about reality TV programs..." It is true that the glowing magic box in our living room does more than just entertain, it molds and affects our opinions of the people represented on screen, and can even transfer into how people feel about race and culture. It goes without saying that because of the way media can shape opinions, there should be an accurate and equal representation of the people it portrays. Theories are made up to explain some of the things that people spot when watching a TV show and while many may not believe in them, the theories make a lot of sense. When you do your research you see how the theories connect to the show in many different ways which makes it seem like the theories are actually correct. For instance, one of the most well known TV shows at the moment is Spongebob Squarepants. At first glance it looks like it is about the life of a sponge who is a fry cook and all of his friends. No one questioned why this sponge could talk or how they could cook things underwater until a reasonable explanation surfaced to explain it. According to Jennifer Lewis, there was a place called Bikini Atoll that was used for nuclear arms testing. Due to the radiation from the tests that took place there, things that could not talk before could suddenly talk, like Spongebob, and things underwater could suddenly be cooked by using the radiation. For example, in a Disney cartoon show, DuckTales which ran from 1987 to 1990, there are many moments in which the creators try to portray that capitalism is a better way of life compared to Socialism or Communism (Dofman and Mattelart, 1975). In the book, How to Read Donald Duck (1975), it is argued that the Donald Duck character is an excessively materialistic character which values money among other things (Dofman and Mattelart, 1975). The book also argues that there are multiple moments in the cartoon shows which shows that the characters are only successful in their career and ultimately their life after they are able to achieve great wealth while the poor and working class are looked down upon. Since the show was released towards the end of the Cold War, it could be said that the show was heavily influenced by the American economical ideology which is consumerism due to the United States being in the Capitalist bloc. One more example of a strong female is Jennifer Jareau from Criminal Minds. She balances work and her family nearly flawlessly, and shows that women are capable of having a family and a career. Clarke Griffin, from The 100, is one of the strongest characters, male or female, that I've seen on TV in a long time.
