I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the activity, the student is expected to:
COGNITIVE
Identify the importance and usefulness of note-taking skillsin real-world
contexts.
Recognize the characteristics of effectivenotes.
AFFECTIVE Cite a situation wherenote taking can be an advantage.
PSYCHOMOTOR Make notes about key points as they listen or read a selection/lesson
Write a brief (one paragraph) summary of the selection.

III. VALUES INTEGRATION:
Think about any reasons you might have for taking notes in everyday life, and any
occasions when you do so. It’s a skill we all use, to some extent, as part of organizing daily
life and routines, recording useful information, and identifying key points within it. As a
student, you will need to develop this skill for use in specific contexts, such as lecturesand
reading for assignments. It’s important to be pro-active about this – spend some time
thinking about your reasons for taking notes as part of your studies. Why are notes useful?

VI. MOTIVATIONAL BEGINNING:
Show a power point presentation of a fantasy story. Read the introduction of the story and
ask them if they still want to go on with story.
VII. LESSON PROPER :
A. Tell the class that they will continue reading storyafter the presentation of a topic
entitled the Art of Note Taking.
B. Have the students watch a videoclip on “Note taking and Study Tips | Back to
School 2014”
C. Continue the story fromthe “MOTIVATIONAL BEGINNING” and have the students use
the tips/lessons they have learned fromthe previous activity.
D. Call students fromthe class to present/sharetheir notes to the class.
E. Ask the class: What is the importance of “Note Taking”.
VIII. SYNTHESIS:

Distribute a reading a selection to the class and ask them to:
A. Make notes about key points as they listen or read a selection/lesson
