Question 1
1. IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR
MEDIA PRODUCT USE,
DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE
FORMS AND CONVENTIONS
OF REAL MEDIA
PRODUCTS?
2. MY RESEARCH
It appears that when I researched country magazines there were
two forms; one which reflected stereotypical approach's to country
music and another which brings a more modern approach.
3. FONT
Within the traditional country music poster, fonts and mastheads
use swirly writing is used to reflect the style of writing at the time
when country music was created.
The colours of this tend to be red, blue, yellows and other garish
shades.
4. MODERN MAGAZINES
Certain aspects of modern music magazines are the same. The
genre is still shown but through a more modern approach with darker
colours and simpler fonts such as sans serif.
5. COLOURS
As mentioned before, the colours traditionally shown in country
music magazines include blues, yellows reds and browns.
At first, I decided to use red, yellow and brown but later changed
to use red and black which created a more modern approach.
6. IMAGES
Using images of my artists which are shown to be in a photo-
shoot is a typical idea of that of a country music magazine. This is
why I chose to do mine in this way. My images via one were used as
the main background. This represents the genre and makes my
magazine look simple yet effective.
7. LANGUAGE
I used language that my reader would relate too. I used ‘fun’
language which would keep my audience interested. The
interview for my double page spread was produced in a chatty
way.
8. SIMILARITIES
Having a striking and bold masthead.
The use of a photo-shoot picture as a background.
Using a very limited selection of colours.
Having the name of the main artist featured larger
and poignant.
Only having one image starring on the front page.
9. DIFFERNCES
Different colour scheme as mine took a
more traditional approach.
Having little writing on this magazine is
different as mine hold a bit more.
I have a logo featured.
