LSC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field athletes have recorded one men’s NCAA Division II Automatic
qualifying mark and 16 provisional efforts (eight men, eight women). See the LSC performance list here: http://

LSC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2016 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held at the Adams State Indoor
Bubble and Fieldhouse in Alamosa, Colo. on February 20-21.
The meet was scheduled to take place at the Texas Tech Athletic Training Center in Lubbock, Texas, but on
December 31 the roof of the ATC deflated due to Winter Storm Goliath canceling all events.
The Adams State facility has a 200-meter track with six lanes on the oval and eight sprint lanes. The entire
facility is a Beynon surface. The Indoor Bubble hosts several regular season meets and has been home to the
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championships in previous years.
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Javier Lopez, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, JR, Cóodoba, Spain, Dionisio Ortiz
Lopez was in midseason form in the Texas A&M Team Invitational, winning the 60m hurdles and automatically
qualifying for nationals, crossing the finish line in 7.88, the fifth best mark in school history and third best mark
in Division II this season... Lopez’s provisional run of 7.90 was the eighth best time in Javelina history.
MEN’S FIELD
Jeron Robinson, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, SR, Houston, Texas, William B. Travis
Robinson won the high jump with a provisional qualifying height of 7-0.25 (2.14m) in the Texas A&M Team
Invitational against Division I programs... the Lone DII school competing, the Javelinas’ Robinson set the eight-
best mark in school history and now holds the top 11 marks in the high jump... the senior’s jump was the third
best in all of DII this season.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Kaina Martinez, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, SR, Seine Bight, Stann Creek, Belize, Independena
Martinez won the 400m in 56.31, the 10th best mark in Javelina history and placed second in the 200m at 24.39,
tied for the second fastest time in Javelina history, behind her mark in the LSC Championship last season... the
Belize native provisionally qualified in both events... the 200m time is the third fastest in NCAA Division II and
the 400m performance is the sixth best in 2016.
WOMEN’S FIELD
LaGa’e Brigance, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, FR, Missouri City, Texas, Fort Bend Hightower
Brigance finished fourth in the high jump in her first ever collegiate meet with a height of 5-6 (1.68m)... the
jump was the fourth highest in Javelina history and a NCAA Division II provisional mark... the freshman also
placed in the top 25 in the 400m.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Kami Norton, Angelo State University, made her ASU debut in the 60-meter hurdles with a NCAA Division II
provisional mark. The sophomore transfer ran a personal best of 8.76 and finished fourth. It is the No. 13 fastest
time in the country and No. 1 in the LSC.
Kaitlin Lumpkins, Angelo State University, opened her season with a NCAA Division II provisional mark in the
high jump at the Shocker Prelude in Wichita, Kansas. The sophomore cleared 5-5.25 (1.66-meters) and placed
second overall. The mark places Lumpkins at No. 13 nationally and No. 2 in the LSC.

Texas A&M-Kingsville began the season as the only Division II team competing in the Texas A&M Team
Invitational with the No. 13 men finishing in fourth and the women placing sixth... Javier Lopez qualified for
nationals with a 60m hurdles mark of 7.88 and he was one of two winners Friday (Jeron Robinson topped high
jump at 7-0.25 (2.14m)... Kenneth Jackson posted provisional marks in the 200m and 60m dash and Jordan
Yamoah and Bryce Martin recorded provisional jumps in the pole vault... on the women’s side, Kaina Martinez
won the 400m and Plaserae Johnson won the 60m dash with a time of 7.63.
