LSC TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Lone Star Conference Track and Field Championships are set for a three-day run May 5-7 at Memorial
Stadium in Stephenville, Texas.
Texas A&M-Commerce is the reigning men’s champion and Angelo State has won the last seven
championships on the women’s side.
The events start Thursday at 1 p.m. with the multi-events portion and conclude Saturday night with finals
and team trophy presentations.

LSC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field athletes have recorded 12 NCAA Division II Automatic qualifying
marks (10 men, 2 women) and 157 provisional efforts (87 men, 70 women).
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Dalton Stidham, Tarleton State University, SO, Boyd, Texas, Boyd HS
At the ACU Twilight, Stidham highlighted the day for the Texans with two of Tarleton’s 10 total NCAA marks as
the sophomore hit the national standard in the 110m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles. Stidham ran a 14.15 in the
short hurdles and a 53.16 in the long hurdles.
MEN’S FIELD
Rascellis Williams, Tarleton State University, FR, Mineral Wells, Texas, Mineral Wells HS
Williams earned an NCAA mark in the high jump at the ACU Twilight, an event that he defeated all other non-
Division I competitors, by jumping 6-11 (2.11m). Williams’ time is second in the LSC this season and ties for
fourth in Division II.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Arianna Stegall, Tarleton State University, SO, Corpus Christi, Texas, Flour Bluff HS
Stegall earned an NCAA mark in the 400m hurdles by finishing with the fourth fastest non-Division 1 time in the
long hurdles with a mark time of 1:01.23. Her time ranks fourth in the LSC and 19th in Division II.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Norma Cunigan, West Texas A&M University, FR, Wills Point, Texas, Wills Point HS
Cunigan broke the school and freshman record in the discus at the Oliver Jackson Twilight. The freshman from
Wills Point, Texas continued her impressive freshman year with a throw of 155-00 (47.24m) to win the event.
That is the 16th-best mark in the nation.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Luis Perez, Angelo State University, ran a personal best and NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark of
21.08 to win the 200-meters at the Oliver Jackson Twilight. It is the 14th fastest time in NCAA Division II this
season. He later ran a leg on the 4x400-meter relay that clocked a 3:10.69 to place third.
Daniel Gyasi, West Texas A&M University, won the 400-meters at the Oliver Jackson Twilight after anchoring
the 4x100-meter relay to a second-place finish. He ran away from the field in the 400-meters running 46.95
which is the fifth-fastest time in school history. The 4x100-meter relay ran 40.59 which is the third-fastest in
school history and ranks them 11th in the nation.
Peniel Richard, Angelo State University, moved up to No. 16 nationally in the triple jump with a personal-best
mark of 49-5 (15.06m). He placed second in the meet and is No. 3 in the LSC.
Zach Weatherly, West Texas A&M University, an Amarillo, Texas native, won the shot put at the Oliver
Jackson Twilight with a throw of 54-3.75 (16.55m).
Jasmine Sillemon, Angelo State University, ran a personal best time and NCAA Division II provisional mark of
24.32 in the 200-meters to place third at the Oliver Jackson Twilight. She is No. 24 nationally. The junior also
helped the 4x100-meter relay run a season best of 46.59. The time is the 19th best in Division II this season.
Danyelle Dillard, Tarleton State University, hit an individual mark at the ACU Twilight with a shot-put throw
of 44-8 (13.61m). It’s Dillard’s fourth provisional mark of the season in the shot put.

Tarleton State
Tarleton track and field wrapped up the regular
season with a great day at the Oliver Jackson Twilight
at Abilene Christian University and will now turn its
attention to next weekend’s Lone Star Conference
Championships at Memorial Stadium in Stephenville.
The Texans and TexAnns combined to win six
events and hit 10 NCAA provisional marks while the
women’s mile relay team etched their name in the
Tarleton history books with a new school record.
The mile relay team of Ashley Johnson, Hicks-Boyce,
Ballard, and Jasmine Owens hit an NCAA mark and
set a new standard for Tarleton with a time of 3:41.51
– topping the previous school record of 3:42.15 set
by LaDaria Nelson, Hicks-Boyce, Leslie Zupanic, and
Owens last season. Tarleton will return to action on
May 5-7 at the Lone Star Conference Championships
in Stephenville.

The No. 8 Lady Buffs and Buffs had a solid
performance at the Oliver Jackson Twilight with three
new provisional marks, one school record and one
freshman record. Norma Cunigan broke the school
and freshman record in the discus with a throw of
155-0 (47.24m). Rellie Kaputin picked up her third
qualifying mark of the season in the high jump with
a clearance of 5-7.25 (1.71m). Holly Cungian won
the shot put with a seasonal-best mark of 48-7.25
(14.81m).
On the men’s side, Tobia Lahbi lowered his time in
the 400-meter hurdles to 52.75 which ranks him 14th
in the nation. Alexander Korn won the 800-meters in
a provisional qualifying time of 1:52.01. That is also
the fifth-fastest time in school history. The quartet of
Theo Piniau, Todd Handley, Trevor Dennis and Daniel
Gyasi ran the third-fastest 4x100-meter relay time in
school history finishing second in 40.57. That is the
11th fastest time in the nation this season.
