LSC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field athletes have recorded three NCAA Division II Automa c qualifying
marks (one men and two women) and 74 provisional efforts (44 men, 30 women). See the LSC performance

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Luis Perez, Angelo State University, SR, Forney, Texas, Forney HS
Perez ran the third fastest me in the 400-meters in Division II and ran a leg on the provisionally qualifying
4x400-meter relay at the Pi sburg State Invita onal. The senior clocked a NCAA Division II automa c qualifying
me of 47.02 in the 400-meters to place third overall and set a new LSC record. The Rams 3:14.53 in the 4x400-
meter relay is sixth fastest in the na on.
MEN’S FIELD
Chase Graham, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, Springtown, Texas, Boyd HS
Graham established the longest throw in the LSC this season in the weight throw, se ng a provisional qualifying
mark at 60-1.25 (18.32m) at the Pi sburg State Invita onal to place second.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Kami Norton, Angelo State University, JR, Albany, Texas, Albany HS
Norton recorded the seventh-fastest 60-meter hurdle me in Division II at the Pi sburg State Invita onal. The
junior crossed the line in a personal best me of 8.62. She also cleared 5-6 (1.82m), a provisional qualifying
mark, in the high jump as well.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Jasmine Roberts, Texas A&M University-Commerce, JR, Statesboro, Ga., Southeast Bulloch Co. HS
At the Pi State Invita onal, Roberts set a school record with a provisional mark in the triple jump at 37-11.25
(11.56m). This is the second-longest triple jump in the conference this season.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Jacob Nava, Lubbock Chris an University, scored a seventh place finish in the One-Mile event. Nava finished
second in his heat for the Mile and a season-best 4:24.34. His me was just shy of seven-second faster than his
adjusted finishing me in the Cherry and Silver races one week ago. He currently holds the Chaps best me in
the Mile event. In addi on to his seventh-place finish in the Mile, Nava also provided the anchor leg for the
Distance Medley Relay team. He put a bow on the Chaps first appearance in the event to give the LCU team a
finishing me of 10:38.45, narrowly bea ng out the 11th place team by .18 seconds. Jacob Nava’s performance
was extremely crucial to the success of the Chap squad in the Pi sburg State Invita onal on Saturday Jan. 28.
Luis “Ricky” Romero, Texas A&M University-Commerce, ran the second-fastest mile in the na on and set a
school and LSC record with a me of 4:06.64. He was also part of the 4x400 relay team that set a provisional
qualifying mark at 3:16.64. He has set 5 provisional qualifying marks so far this season (800m, mile, 3km, 4x400
relay, DMR).
Julian Coronado-Clark, Eastern New Mexico University, placed first in the 200 M at the Colorado School of
Mines DII Invita onal on Friday and Saturday with a me of 22.94.
Colton Troutman, Tarleton State University, finished 6th in the 200m dash out of 21 compe tors at the
Houston Invita onal hosted by University of Houston.
Trive Jones, Angelo State University, a freshman, won the Pi sburg State Invite in the pole vault with a
NCAA Division II provisional qualifying jump. The Sachse na ve cleared a seasonal best of 15-3.50 (4.66m) and
is now No. 31 in Division II.
Kenneth Lloyd, Eastern New Mexico University, received a second-place medal at the Colorado School of
Mines DII Invita onal in the high jump, leaping 6-7.
Taylor Massey, Tarleton State University, finished 19th in the long jump at the Houston Invita onal hosted by
the University of Houston. He finished with a jump of 20-09.25.
Julia Neiswirth, Lubbock Chris an University, and the Lubbock Chris an Lady Chaps traveled to Pi sburg,
Kans. for the Pi sburg State Invita onal on Saturday Jan. 28. Neiswirth put together an impressive Mile event
in her second me ever to compete in an NCAA meet. A er being placed in the event’s second heat, Neiswirth
shot out of a cannon and ul mately won her group by two-seconds with a me of 5:22.95. In addi on to
recording a personal best for the season, Neiswirth took sixth-place overall in the Mile. Neiswirth also played
an important role on the Lady Chaps Distance Medley Relay team. She ran as the anchor leg and finished the
race to give LCU a 13th place finish with a me of 13:12.60.
Ashley Basse , Texas A&M University-Commerce, set a new school record in the 600 yard dash at 1:27.07 at
the Pi State Open.
Ashley Johnson, Tarleton State University, finished in 9th place out of 35 compe tors in the 400m dash at the
Houston Invita onal hosted by the University of Houston. She finished with a me of 58.90.
Taytum Morris, Angelo State University, cleared a personal best mark and the LSC’s best jump of the season
in the pole vault at the Pi sburg State Invite. The sophomore cleared 11-7 (3.53m) to place third overall in the

The Lubbock Chris an Track team traveled north to Pi sburg, Kans. for the Pi sburg State Invita onal on
Saturday Jan. 28. Although the Chaps took a small team to compete in the mid-distance and long distance
events, they were s ll able to obtain success against the compe ng schools. On the men’s side, LCU was able
to pick up four top-10 finishes with Josh Ybarra placing 10th in the 800-meters, Jacob Nava placing seventh in
the Mile, Ntagawa Alex placing sixth in the 5,000-meters and the Distance Medley Relay team picking up a 10th
place finish among a field of 21 teams. Julie Neiswirth headed the women’s team with a sixth place finish in the
Mile event.

Tarleton State
The Tarleton State Indoor Track and Field team competed in the Houston Invita onal hosted by the University
of Houston this past weekend. As a team Tarleton did pre y well as a Division II compe ng among Division
I schools. Tarleton will be back on the road Feb. 9 and 10th to compete at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field
Classic in Frisco, Texas.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions ran at the Pi sburg State Invita onal last weekend. The men’s team was ranked No. 5 na onally
entering the event. The Lions posted 14 provisional qualifying marks and six school records. Provisional marks
were set in the women’s high jump, weight throw, shot put, and triple jump; and the men’s weight throw
(2), long jump, shot put, triple jump (2), 200m, mile, 3,000m, and 4x400 relay. School records were set in the
women’s pole vault, triple jump, 600yds, and DMR; and the men’s 600yds and mile. The Lions are off this week.
