PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Jake Hasbrouck, Tarleton State University, SO, DH, Ault, CO, Highlands HS
Hasbrouck was Tarleton’s top offensive force as the sophomore from Ault, Colorado lifted Tarleton to a pair of
wins over Angelo State in Stephenville. Hasbrouck hit .538 for the week, going 7-for-13 at the plate with two
RBIs and a run scored. One of Hasbrouck’s biggest plays of the weekend came with one out in the ninth inning
when Tarleton was trailing 4-2 on the verge of losing the series. With runners on the corners, Hasbrouck drove
in a run with an RBI fielder’s choice but beat out a potential game-ending double play to extend the game – one
that Tarleton went on to win in the 10th inning to earn a series split with the Rams.
PITCHER
Preston Plovanich, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, FR, LHP, Santa Fe, Texas, Santa Fe HS
Plovanich continues to dominate in his debut season as the freshman defeated No. 17/11 West Texas A&M
after tossing 8.1 shutout innings... Plovanich struck out four and allowed just three hits to improve to 3-0 on
the year... he held the Buffs to a .111 batting average... the left-hander retired 20 in a row and has not allowed
an earned run in 24.1 innings... in LSC play, Plovanich is 3-0 with 0.64 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 28.1 innings.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Tyler McKinzie, Cameron University, batted .556, with eight runs scored, and five hits for the Aggies in their
3-1 home series win over ENMU. The Cameron senior had a hit in all four games of the series and drew eight
walks for a .765 on-base percentage. Additionally, he had a double and three RBI in CU’s 9-1 win on Saturday,
and in the second game McKinzie recorded three walks and three runs scored in a 10-1 win, with two stolen
bags. McKinzie also slugged .889, six putouts, and seven assists for the Aggies in the series.
Mike McNicholl, Eastern New Mexico University, batted .500 in the Greyhounds’ series at Cameron. He had two
hits, two runs batted in, and a homer, in Sunday’s 10-6 victory.
Dalton Perry, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, extended his reached base safely streak to 21 games and
leads the conference and team in hitting this season with a .431 batting average... since returning from a
broken thumb, the senior continued to mash, tallying two doubles and a triple in the 3-1 series victory over the
Buffs.
Mason Shiflett, West Texas A&M University, had six hits in 17 at bats for the Buffs this weekend hitting .353
to lead the team. He was the lone Buff who hit over .300 as he recorded one double and one triple, driving in
one and scoring twice. Other than Shiflett, the Buffs struggled hitting as the team hit just .212 for the series at
TAMUK. Shiflett had three chances in the outfield making all three putouts. He currently has reached base in
11-straight games to lead the team and has an eight-game hitting streak which also leads the club.
Austin Moore, West Texas A&M University, pitched another gem of a game as he went all seven innings,
allowing four hits, one earned run, no walks and he fanned a season-high 14 in the Buffs’ 6-1 win on Saturday at
#22 Texas A&M-Kingsville. Moore had a one-hitter, shutout going into the seventh inning before surrendering
three hits and a run in the final frame. It was the Buffs’ lone win in the series at TAMUK. Moore is a team-best
7-1 on the year with a 1.23 ERA in a team-high 58.2 innings with four complete games, one shutout and one
combined shutout. He has fanned 76 and walked just 19 as teams are hitting .172 against him. His seven wins
leads the LSC and his 76 strikeouts are second in the conference as are his 58.2 innings pitched. Saturday’s
win marked his second start of the season in which he walked none and fanned double-digit batters. (12 vs.
Tarleton State, Mar. 5). He has won seven-straight starts with four starts this season of double-digit strikeouts.
Dirk Masters, Cameron University, struck out ten Eastern New Mexico batters in six innings of work while
allowing three hits. The Cameron senior struck out a batter in each inning while allowing only one earned run
to cross home plate. All three of the ENMU hits were singles and Masters would be charged the win for the
start. In 36 1/3 innings this season, Masters has recorded 54 strikeouts.
Jacob French, Tarleton State University, gave Tarleton eight quality innings of work to deliver Tarleton’s
series-opening win over Angelo State Friday night. The senior right-hander struck out five and allowed just
three hits and two runs en route to his third win of the year. The Rams hit just .115 off French in his start.

Behind the strong pitching of Alec Lemmon and strong hitting of Mike McNicholl and Justin Paul, the Greyhounds
managed to win the series finale at Cameron. The win snapped a seven-game skid for ENMU. This weekend, the
Greyhounds will visit Angelo State.
Tarleton State
Tarleton split a four-game series with Angelo State in Stephenville last weekend. The Texans will host St. Mary’s
Wednesday for a single game before starting the second half of conference play this weekend with a three-

West Texas A&M
The Buffs dropped their first series of the year going 1-3 at Texas A&M-Kingsville over the weekend as TAMUK
took over first place in the league standings with a one-game lead over WT and Angelo State...The Buffs really
struggled offensively in the series hitting just .212 on 25 of 118, while scoring just 13 runs...WT stranded
35 on base in the series and eight errors led to eight unearned runs...Senior Austin Moore pitched another
outstanding game as he tossed his fourth complete game and fanned a season-high 14 in the lone win for WT
- a 6-1 victory in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday...Moore didn’t allow a walk in the contest and
held a one-hit shutout into the final inning...He leads the team and the conference with a 7-1 record on the
year and ranks second in the league with 76 strikeouts in 58.2 innings of work....WT finished the first half of the
conference season with a 13-7 record and a 24-10 mark overall...Last season, the Buffs finished the first half
12-8 and 20-12 overall...Against TAMUK, missed opportunities with men on base were huge as WT was 0 of 5
with the bases loaded and just 11 of 57 with runners on base (.193)...Conversely, TAMUK hit .455 with runners
on base (5 of 11) stranding just 18 and was 4 of 11 with bases loaded (.364), while driving in nine runs with
two out...WT was outscored 18-0 from the fifth inning on of the final two games of the series as TAMUK plated
nine runs in the fifth of the nightcap of a DH on Saturday and six runs in the sixth Sunday to erase deficits of
3-0 and 4-0, respectively, in each game...For the series, TAMUK outscored WT 19-4 from the fifth inning on...
Offensively, senior Mason Shiflett was the only Buff to hit over .300 for the series as he had six hits in 17 at

in one and scoring twice...WT begins the second half of the conference season at Tarleton State next weekend
