Title: An Object-Distortion Based Image
Quality Similarity
Abstract—Image quality assessment (IQA) aims to devise perceptual models to
predict the image quality consistently with human subjective evaluation. The
representative metrics focus on measuring the image quality with low-level
features. In this letter, we assumed that the distortion in specific regions containing
semantically significant objects would be enhanced by HVSsignificantly.
According to this hypothesis, a novel IQA metric based on a commonly used
object-detecting feature, Speed Up RobustFeatures (SURF), was proposed. First, it
determined the interest points which represented significant objects through the
SURF features both on the reference image and distorted image. Then it computed
the multilevel SURF descriptors differences between the reference image and the
distorted one. Finally, all the difference results were combined with a suitable
pooling strategy. Comparing with other nine state-of-the-art IQA models on three
biggest IQA databases, SURF-SIM demonstrated its highly competitive prediction
accuracy especially on complicated applications and excellent robustness across
different distortion types.

Content-based image retrieval is a technique which uses visual contents to search images from large scale image databases according to users' interests. Given a query face image, content-based face image retrieval tries to find similar face images from a large image database. Initially face of the image is detected from the query image. After the removal of noise present in the image, it is separated as patches. For each patch, the Local binary pattern (LBP) is extracted which improves the detection performance. LBP is a type of feature used for classification in computer vision. The LBP operator assigns a label to every pixel of a gray level image. The label mapping to a pixel is affected by the relationship between this pixel and its eight neighbors. Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used then which will produce a model (based on the training data) that predicts the target values of the test data given only the test data attributes. When the feature values are provided to the SVM classifier, it will train about the feature. Finally it will classify about the result. SVM maps input vectors to a higher dimensional vector space where an optimal hyper plane is constructed. Among the available hyper planes, there is one hyper plane alone that maximizes the distance between itself and the nearest data vectors of each category. The Euclidean distance between the query image and database image is calculated and the index of the Euclidean distance is sorted.The indexing scheme used for this purpose provides an efficient way to search the image. Then the corresponding image from the database is retrieved based upon the index. This SVM classifier mainly improves the detection performance and the rate of accuracy.

Multiple objects tracking finds its applications in many high level vision analysis like object behaviour interpretation and gait recognition. In this paper, a feature based method to track the multiple moving objects in surveillance video sequence is proposed. Object tracking is done by extracting the color and Hu moments features from the motion segmented object blob and establishing the association of objects in the successive frames of the video sequence based on Chi-Square dissimilarity measure and nearest neighbor classifier. The benchmark IEEE PETS and IEEE Change Detection datasets has been used to show the robustness of the proposed method. The proposed method is assessed quantitatively using the precision and recall accuracy metrics. Further, comparative evaluation with related works has been carried out to exhibit the efficacy of the proposed method.

Most of the currently known methods treat person re-identification task as classification problem and used commonly neural networks. However, these methods used only high-level convolutional feature or to express the feature representation of pedestrians. Moreover, the current data sets for person reidentification is relatively small. Under the limitation of the number of training set, deep convolutional networks are difficult to train adequately. Therefore, it is very worthwhile to introduce auxiliary data sets help training. In order to solve this problem, this paper propose a novel method of deep transfer learning, and combines the comparison model with the classification model and multi-level fusion of the convolution features on the basis of transfer learning. In a multi-layers convolutional network, the characteristics of each layer of network are the dimensionality reduction of the previous layer of results, but the information of multi-level features is not only inclusive, but also has certain complementarity. We can using the information gap of different layers of convolutional neural networks to extract a better feature expression. Finally, the algorithm proposed in this paper is fully tested on four data sets (VIPeR, CUHK01, GRID and PRID450S). The obtained re-identification results prove the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Object tracking is a process devoted to locate the pathway of moving object in the succession of frames. The tracking of the object has been emerged as a challenging facet in the fields of robot navigation, military, traffic monitoring and video surveillance etc. In the first phase of contributions, the tracking of object is exercised by means of matching between the template and exhaustive image through the Normalized Cross Correlation (NCCR). In order to update the template, the moving objects are detected using frame difference technique at regular interval of frames. Subsequently, NCCR or Principal Component Analysis (PCA) or Histogram Regression Line (HRL) of the template and moving objects are estimated to find the best match to update the template. The second phase discusses the tracking of object between the template and partitioned image through the NCCR with reduced computational aspects. However, the updating schemes remain same. Here, an exploration with varied bench mark dataset has been carried out. Further, the comparative analysis of the proposed systems with different updating schemes such as NCCR, PCA and HRL has been succeeded. The offered systems considerably reveal the capability to track an object indisputably under diverse illumination conditions.

The world over, image recognition are essential players in promoting quality object recognition especially in emergency and search-rescue operation. In this paper precise image recognition system using Matlab Simulink Blockset to detect selected object from crowd is presented. The process involves extracting object features and then recognizes it considering illumination, direction and pose. A Simulink model has been developed to eliminate the tiny elements from the image, then creating segments for precise object recognition. Furthermore, the simulation explores image recognition from the coloured and gray-scale images through image processing techniques in Simulink environment. The tool employed for computation and simulation is the Matlab image processing blockset. The process comprises morphological operation method which is effective for captured images and video. The results of extensive simulations indicate that this method is suitable for application identifying a person from a crow. The model can be used in emergency and search-rescue operation as well as in medicine, information security, access control, law enforcement, surveillance system, microscopy etc.

Real-Time Pertinent Maneuver Recognition for Surveillance

Measurement of Image Quality plays an important role in numerous image processing applications such as forensic science, image enhancement, medical imaging, etc. In recent years, there is a growing interest among researchers in creating objective Image Quality Assessment (IQA) algorithms that can correlate well with perceived quality. A significant progress has been made for full reference (FR) IQA problem in the past decade. In this paper, we are comparing 5 selected FR IQA algorithms on TID2008 image datasets. The performance and evaluation results are shown in graphs and tables. The results of quantitative assessment showed wavelet-based IQA algorithm outperformed over the non-wavelet based IQA method except for WASH algorithm which the prediction value only outperformed for certain distortion types since it takes into account the essential structural data content of the image.

The aim of this paper is to present a comparative study of two linear dimension reduction methods namely PCA (Principal Component Analysis) and LDA (Linear Discriminant Analysis). The main idea of PCA is to transform the high dimensional input space onto the feature space where the maximal variance is displayed. The feature selection in traditional LDA is obtained by maximizing the difference between classes and minimizing the distance within classes. PCA finds the axes with maximum variance for the whole data set where LDA tries to find the axes for best class seperability. The neural network is trained about the reduced feature set (using PCA or LDA) of images in the database for fast searching of images from the database using back propagation algorithm. The proposed method is experimented over a general image database using Matlab. The performance of these systems has been evaluated by Precision and Recall measures. Experimental results show that PCA gives the better performance in terms of higher precision and recall values with lesser computational complexity than LDA

The features of an image are very important to classify different images. The classification of images is done by feature extraction using Speeded Up Robust Features (SURF) and Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) methods for extraction. SIFT method is used to detect the images with larger corners and extract them. SURF, the name itself represents a speed method to extract the features when compared to SIFT. KNN classifier is used to classify the images based on the features extracted from both techniques. So these combined processes are applied to classify tumour and non-tumour images more accurately.

The well known framework in the object recognition literature uses local information extracted at several patches in images which are then clustered by a suitable clustering technique. A visual codebook maps the patch-based descriptors into a fixed-length vector in histogram space to which standard classifiers can be directly applied. Thus, the construction of a codebook is an important step which is usually done by cluster analysis. However, it is still difficult to construct a compact codebook with reduced computational cost. This paper evaluates the effectiveness and generalisation performance of the Resource-Allocating Codebook (RAC) approach that overcomes the problem of constructing fixed size codebooks that can be used at any time in the learning process and the learning patterns do not have to be repeated. It either allocates a new codeword based on the novelty of a newly seen pattern, or adapts the codebook to fit that observation. Furthermore, we improve RAC to yield codebooks that are more compact. We compare and contrast the recognition performance of RAC evaluated with two distinctive feature descriptors: SIFT and SURF and two clustering techniques: K-means and Fast Reciprocal Nearest Neighbours (fast-RNN) algorithms. SVM is used in classifying the image signatures. The entire visual object recognition pipeline has been tested on three benchmark datasets: PASCAL visual object classes challenge 2007, UIUC texture, and MPEG-7 Part-B silhouette image datasets. Experimental results show that RAC is suitable for constructing codebooks due to its wider span of the feature space. Moreover, RAC takes only one-pass through the entire data that slightly outperforms traditional approaches at drastically reduced computing times. The modified RAC performs slightly better than RAC and gives more compact codebook. Future research should focus on designing more discriminative and compact codebooks such as RAC rather than focusing on methods tuned to achieve high performance in classification.

Speeded-up and Compact Visual Codebook for Object Recognition

Visual prior from generic real-world images study to represent that objects in a scene. The existing work presented online tracking algorithm to transfers visual prior learned offline for online object tracking. To learn complete dictionary to represent visual prior with collection of real world images. Prior knowledge of objects is generic and training image set does not contain any observation of target object. Transfer learned visual prior to construct object representation using Sparse coding and Multiscale max pooling. Linear classifier is learned online to distinguish target from background and also to identify target and background appearance variations over time. Tracking is carried out within Bayesian inference framework and learned classifier is used to construct observation model. Particle filter is used to estimate the tracking result sequentially however, unable to work efficiently in noisy scenes. Time sift variance were not appropriated to track target object with observer value to prior information of object structure. Proposal HMM based kalman filter to improve online target tracking in noisy sequential image frames. The covariance vector is measured to identify noisy scenes. Discrete time steps are evaluated for identifying target object with background separation. Experiment conducted on challenging sequences of scene. To evaluate the performance of object tracking algorithm in terms of tracking success rate, Centre location error, Number of scenes, Learning object sizes, and Latency for tracking.

In this paper, we study the quality assessment of watermarked and attacked images using extensive experiments and related analysis. The process of watermarking usually leads to loss of visual quality and therefore it is crucial to estimate the extent of quality degradation and its perceived impact. To this end, we have analyzed the performance of 4 image quality assessment (IQA) metrics – Structural Similarity Index (SSIM), Singular Value Decomposition Metric (M-SVD) and Image Quality Score (IQS) and PSNR on watermarked and attacked images. The watermarked images are obtained by using three different schemes viz., (1) DCT based random number sequence watermarking, (2) DWT based random number sequence watermarking and (3) RBF Neural Network based watermarking. The signed images are attacked by using five different image processing operations. We observe that the metrics behave identically in case of all the three watermarking schemes. An important conclusion of our study is that PSNR is not a suitable metric for IQA as it does not correlate well with the human visual system’s (HVS) perception. It is also found that the M-SVD scatters significantly after embedding the watermark and after attacks as compared to SSIM and IQS. Therefore, it is a less effective quality assessment metric for watermarked and attacked images. In contrast to PSNR and M-SVD, SSIM and IQS exhibit more stable and consistent performance. Their comparison further reveals that except for the case of counterclockwise rotation, IQS relatively scatters less for all other four attacks used in this work. It is concluded that IQS is comparatively more suitable for quality assessment of signed and attacked images.

Image differencing is usually done by subtracting the low-level skin texture like strength in images that are already associated. This paper extracts high-level skin texture in order to find out an efficient image differencing method for the analysis of Brain Tumor. On the other hand, this produces sets of skin texture that are both spatial. We demonstrate a technique that avoids arbitrary spatial constraints and is robust in the presence of sound, outliers, and imaging artifact, while outperforming even profitable products in the analysis of Brain Tumor images. First, the landmark are establish, and then the top entrant are sorted into a end set. Second, the top sets of the two descriptions are then differenced through a cluster judgment. The symmetry of the human body is utilized to increase the accuracy of the finding. We imitate this technique in an effort to understand and ultimately capture the judgment of the radiologist. The image differencing with clustered contrast process determines the being there of Brain Tumor. Using the most favorable features extracted from normal and tumor regions of MRI by using arithmetical features, classifiers are used to categorize and segment the tumor portion in irregular images. Both the difficult and preparation phase gives the proportion of accuracy on each parameter in neural networks, which gives the idea to decide the best one to be used in supplementary works. The results showed outperformance of algorithm when compared with classification accuracy which works as shows potential tool for classification and requires extension in brain tumor analysis.

Logic Mind Technologies Vijayangar (Near Maruthi Medicals), Bangalore-40 Ph: 8123668124 // 8123668066 Title: An Object-Distortion Based Image Quality Similarity Abstract—Image quality assessment (IQA) aims to devise perceptual models to predict the image quality consistently with human subjective evaluation. The representative metrics focus on measuring the image quality with low-level features. In this letter, we assumed that the distortion in specific regions containing semantically significant objects would be enhanced by HVSsignificantly. According to this hypothesis, a novel IQA metric based on a commonly used object-detecting feature, Speed Up RobustFeatures (SURF), was proposed. First, it determined the interest points which represented significant objects through the SURF features both on the reference image and distorted image. Then it computed the multilevel SURF descriptors differences between the reference image and the distorted one. Finally, all the difference results were combined with a suitable pooling strategy. Comparing with other nine state-of-the-art IQA models on three biggest IQA databases, SURF-SIM demonstrated its highly competitive prediction accuracy especially on complicated applications and excellent robustness across different distortion types.
