The Road Ahead Will Be Long

In words of Barrack Obama, "The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep."
Obama provides a simple yet strong illustration of the hardships and obstacles faced when
Striving for change. The statement made by Obama holds the same meaning when trying to
Change communities that are like Irvington. Both Martin Luther King and Barrack Obama have a
Superb comprehension of the extreme and diverse difficulties faced in African–American
Communities. For instance King stated, "One hundred year later, the negro is still languishing in the
corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land." This quote shines an
Illuminating light on the problems seen in Irvington, because we have allowed other
Communities to surpass us. While we quarrel and argue amongst each other, we do not see that we
are lagging behind the rest of New Jersey and The United States. This township is in critical
condition, because the sense of unity, dreams, and change has been lost. To revive our fair township
of Irvington we must recover from the phlegmatic state which we are so accustomed to and take
action, or like a house with a weak foundation the town will soon crumble to the ground. To begin
improving the living standards of Irvington the community, we must come together, scrutinize the
community, and solve our basic problems. Then, this township can advance. In the words

The Effective Leadership Style of Martin Luther King Jr....
Our world is filled with many successful leaders. The gift of being a leader can be learned; however
some individuals have a natural born talent to be a leader. Each leader has his or her own unique
leadership style. The gift of being a leader can be learned. Certain individuals are born with a
charismatic style and can easily be a leader. A successful leader is one who can inspire and motivate
people towards a goal. Martin Luther King Jr. was an individual with a born gift to lead people. The
following paper will discuss how Martin Luther King Jr. was able to inspire and motivate people
with his effective leadership style.

King organized marches, speeches, and much more to motivate the Africans of America to fight for
their rights. MLK had a way with words. He spoke eloquently and would get people on board and
able to follow him to pursue a better outcome. MLK allows promoted nonviolence. His political
philosophy and strong beliefs helped lead our nation to the racial justice we have today. MLK is
described as a man who was generally quiet and listened attentively as others talked. Ling (2002)
states, "King had a remarkable ability to get people who would otherwise be constantly feuding to
work together". The key to a successful leader is bringing people together. King was able to bring
people together and work together for an achievable goal. He could quiet crowds and calm them
down to be more peaceful. He spoke on nonviolence as the better resolution. According to Ling
(2002), "For King, leadership meant standing up for what he believed in and being a drum major for
justice". A leader is also one who can relate to people. King was able to relate to the people who
spoke to therefore African Americans were more likely to listen and follow what King had to say.
King was a leader because he challenged the status quo. He had the courage to stand up for what he
believed, the rights of all people to fair and equal treatment.
Compare leadership styles Perhaps King's leadership style is a bit ambitious for one to achieve. The
next comparable person who ranks with King would be Barack Obama.

How Does Colbie Caillat's Song Affect Girls?
Something that all girls want at some point in their life is to be accepted by society. Society is the
cruelest aspect of any girl's life. Colbie Caillat is a singer–songwriter, guitarist, and pianist that
welcomes change. Caillat began as an internet sensation on MySpace with her song "Bubbly"; in
July 2007 that song topped the single charts in different formats. She had signed with CoCo and had
recorded many different top chart albums and records. Her album Gypsy Heart was released on
September 30, 2014. In this album, there was one song that stood above the rest, it was released on
June 9, 2014. It had a deeper meaning that would affect so many girls. The song "Try" was written

The song begins with, "Put your makeup on, get your nails done, curl your hair, run the extra mile,
keep it slim, so they like you. Do they like you?" She gives a lot of ideas of what girls obsess over,
like their looks, just to impress their peers. Most of the time their not even doing it for themselves.
Makeup has become something that all girls think they need to look presentable. To go out in public
for a simple errand and girls feel the need to put on a full face of makeup just to be accepted. Being
prim and proper with nails perfectly done, hair done, and a perfect body is what some girls thinks it
takes just to be accepted and not judged. The song then goes on to say, "Get your sexy on don't be
shy, girl, take it off, this is what you want, to belong, so they like you. Do you like you?" In today's
society, showing skin and being very vulnerable is just something normal. Girls will do this because
they think this is how you fit in and how you get accepted. The beginning of the song is mainly
saying how the girls are trying so hard to fit in and what they are doing to do

Similarities Between Peace And Peace
Is it possible to be in a society with violence and peace or just peace? In a society full of negativity
and hate toward others what is a way to overcome these issues and live in harmony. Barack Obama
and Martin Luther King Jr have different opinions and we can see this through the road to peace,
uncivil and dehumanizing however, they have the same completion goal. Martin Luther King and
Obama both want peace. One of the things Martin Luther King uses is the "foundation of love"
Martin Luther King Jr chooses love. He believes that by not getting aggressive and wanting revenge
and only peace through love they will win. Another example, used is the "churches burned and kids
killed" king shows dehumanizing by him say kids have been burned, killed however, thinks people
should not slump to the same level and by peaceful protesting they can end this racism, however,
Obama has a different view he uses evidence from past event like; Evil does exist in the world." A
non–violent movement could not have halted Hitler's armies." He showed that it was necessary to
use violence, for we could not have stopped Hitler by protest. The world has problems that have to
make the decision on how to approach and sometimes the issues need to be approached in a non
friendly way. Also he justifies violence by using another past event such as,Negotiations cannot
convince al Qaeda's leaders to lay down their arms. .–Obama know that al Qaeda's would not sit
down and talk or let protest stop him

The Characteristics Of Great Leaders
What separates leaders, especially mediocre ones from the great ones? What are the attributes and
behaviors that great leaders display in order to influence people, to follow them and change the
world? Great leaders are effective when they are trustworthy, empower others, and connect with
their followers or the people they influence. Trust is the foundation of any great leader. 1) When
Richard Nixon lost the trust of the American people he knew another bid for the Presidency was
over.In the process, Nixon lost his identity as a leader and subsequently the respect and trust of the
American people whom he had worked so diligently to gain. He and many other leaders like him
attempted to isolate himself from the people of which he lead instinctively going into survival mode;
denying the ultimate truth that success as a leader is impossible if attempted to go it alone. 2) Before
Steve Jobs came back for his second amazing round at Apple, he lost the trust of the executives and
John Sculley a power struggle ensued amongst them and Jobs was ousted from the very company he
created. In the spring of 1985 Apple's board sided with the CEO, removing Jobs from his command
of the Macintosh group. Trust is the foundation of every great leader. Trust with followers comes
from the character of the leader. A great leader must have patience, integrity, confidence, and
transparency. If one can win the trust of people, people will follow. Great leaders have the ability to
solidify trust by empowering those willing to follow them.
A great leader knows their team member's strengths and plays to these strengths by giving them task
that they know will help the individual succeed as well as the overall team.
3) John C. Maxwell in his book 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership says that, "a leader must give up
in order to go up". No great leader accomplishes great things by themselves; it takes a team of
people.
Great leaders in order to win with people must have personable attributes to connect with the people
following them. That isn't to say that everyone has to like the leader personally but the leader must
be able to connect with the people following. 4) A prime example can be found in the 2008
primaries between Hillary Clinton and

important due to the recent social media points about cultural appropriation of minority cultures by

My Life Of The Dixie Chicks
On August 17, 2016, as I sat in row GG seat 4, I realized that my childhood had come to a close.
Just seven days shy of starting a new chapter in my life, college, I was standing in Bridgestone
Arena in the presence of the Dixie Chicks. Since I was a little girl, I have been listening to their
music through out every part of my life. I can remember as a three year old, blonde headed little girl,
my daddy would put one of their CDs in the radio and dance around the living room with me
standing on his feet. On Sunday afternoons, when I was around the age of six, my Mi–mi, Uncle
David, and I would pile into their jeep and go for a ride down some back roads with their music
playing in the background. Or as a thirteen year old girl, knowing every single word to "Travelin '
Solider." Now as an eighteen year old, as I listened to the song being played, I thought to myself,
"This is it. I am about to enter a brand new chapter in my life."
Rewind to six months earlier, it was Valentine 's Day and my parents were getting ready to give my
sister and I our gifts. We were handed a small, narrow wrapped box that contained tickets to the
DCX MMXVI World Tour. My parents had bought tickets for them, my sister, and I. This tour was

George Trump And Martin Luther King Jr. Essay
Politicians and government institutions have been around for over thousands of years. Such
organizations and public figures hold tremendous value to society and the individuals within those
societies, usually exercising great influence in how local, state and federal government conduct
business. Their role as political figures in a democracy is to represent the mass public in different
issues, and in order to conveyconvince? their audience to support a particular matter they use
various tools such as diction, tone, and appealing to one's ethos, pathos, and logos. A series of
variables (including audience, purpose, and situation) influence the approach a politician takes in

The Realism Of Realism And Film
The aesthetics of realism in each film can be utilized in many diverse ways to offer certain truths
about the world of the film to further express the film's story. These theatrical elements emphasize
what the film attempts to relay to the audience; moreover, it intensifies the authenticity of each
aspect of the film. The use of real people, on–camera interviews, textual information, and of direct
address to the camera displays the realism of each film.
Textual information is shown in This is Spinal Tap and Shut up and Sing in various parts of the

On–camera interviews in both the films accentuate the films' realism. In Shut up and Sing there is an

said but not sorry she had spoken up. Martie furthers her point by saying that their band would not
be as eminent as they are now if Natalie restrained her outspoken attitude. Another example is when
the Dixie Chicks are interviewed after the release of their new song Not Ready to Make Nice. The

with other candidates in televised debates. On January 17, 2016, I tuned into the Democratic

The use of twitter by both the viewers and the candidates are geared toward one particular goal: to
try to change the mind of voters. By candidates operating on Twitter they possess the ability to make
instant rebuttals to something that another candidate has said without having to release an official
statement or waiting until the next debate. Also in an age of social media candidates and their
campaigns believe that it is one of the most effective ways to broadcast information and connect
with voters. Twitter users also use this median as a way to make fun at a candidate's position or
simply try to convince others to change the way they have chosen to vote. Many twitter users from
the Republican party took to the social media website to bash the democratic candidates and their
policy positions. One user slammed a comment made by Governor Martin O'Malley that the greatest
threat facing the United States was climate change. This made for a twitter field day with other users
implying that the democratic candidates do not take the threat of terrorism and ISIS seriously which
disqualifies them from the presidency. These type of instances can have negative effects for either
party because of how quickly a retweet can make a statement viral and could end up severely
hurting a campaign. However, this reaction did not alter my impression of the candidates or the

What Does Cobie Cailop Try Essay
The standards society hold for women today are wiped away in Colbie Caillat's song Try. Caillat
uses simplicity and a contemporary music style in Try to convey the suffocation women feel because
they try to live up to these stereotypes in the 21st century. When Caillat wrote her song, she used
repetition of her lyrics to hit home the theme that women are beautiful inside and out. Caillat stated
in an interview that "When you have a cute outfit on and your makeup looks amazing, the first thing
people comment on is your image . . . when you don't wear makeup, you hear things like, 'Oh wow,
you look tired or you're so brave for not wearing makeup!'" Caillat uses her words, and influence as

We see all skin types, various ages, different races, and all the women stand in front of a plain and

proceeds, along with the other women, to take off the makeup, and in some cases hair extensions
and a wig, to un–Photoshop themselves. A lot of close–up shots showed only their faces, and side by
side videos of "before" and "after" as the women wiped off their makeup with solemn faces, but
showed smiling or laughing faces when not wearing makeup. I saw relief in their faces as they
accepted themselves, and they showed the world their happiness as it literally shined out of their
faces like sunbeams. They stared directly into the camera, challenging it as they sang along with
Caillat's words. Although this song carries a strong body positivity message, the imperfections bore

society such as being overweight, having a gap in between teeth, frizzy hair, freckles, and wrinkles.
The lighting was perfect and nobody's skin was oily, had any acne, discoloration, or scars. Those
imperfections society judges more because it is "gross" and easy to point out. These women looked

and who they were. After watching the video all around the world, people understand how society's

the strongest argument advocating racial equality in America because his speech remains well–

Martin Luther King Speech Analysis
Throughout Martin Luther King Jr's. speech, he uses violence as a form of getting his perspective
and view across to his audience. King uses violence in order to persuade the audience for other
reasons differing from Barack Obama's view on violence. Martin Luther king brings to light the
amount of damage that violence is causing in order to pursue the audience when saying "I am
mindful that only yesterday in Philadelphia, Mississippi, young people seeking to secure the right to
vote were brutalized and murdered. And only yesterday more than 40 houses of worship in the State
of Mississippi alone were bombed or burned because they offered a sanctuary to those who would
not accept segregation." (pg.1). Although this seems upsetting, King chooses to bring it to light in
order to open societies eyes and convince them that violence is destroying the world day by day.
King says in his speech "I believe that wounded justice, lying prostrate on the blood–flowing streets
of our nations, can be lifted from this dust of shame to reign supreme among the children of men."
(pg.2). When King says this, it automatically gives society a reason for automatically thinking that
indeed we have violence in this world, and things should be changed immediately. King brings this
to the attention of society that he believes that we as a community can change and turn into
something better. King uses words like brutalized and murdered to convince and persuade the
audience into having a different view on why violence isn't okay while Obama uses his view on
violence to persuade his audience in a different manner. Barack Obama brings up the fact that non–
violence would not have put a stop to Hitler's armies just like negotiation between the U.S. and al
Qaeda's leaders wouldn't have made them put their arms down and act any differently (pg.6). Barack
Obama is trying to open up societies eyes and give them a different viewpoint on his beliefs and
how he thinks situations like the tragic experience that Jews had to face in Auschwitz should be
handled. In addition to the previous statement, Barack Obama also talks about the fact that all
nations must embrace the role that milliteries with a clear mandate, order of commision, can have in
order

The Road Ahead Will Be Long

  • 1. The Road Ahead Will Be Long Marvin powell Us history 6th 12/10/2014 Martin Luther king JR In words of Barrack Obama, "The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep." Obama provides a simple yet strong illustration of the hardships and obstacles faced when Striving for change. The statement made by Obama holds the same meaning when trying to Change communities that are like Irvington. Both Martin Luther King and Barrack Obama have a Superb comprehension of the extreme and diverse difficulties faced in African–American Communities. For instance King stated, "One hundred year later, the negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land." This quote shines an Illuminating light on the problems seen in Irvington, because we have allowed other Communities to surpass us. While we quarrel and argue amongst each other, we do not see that we are lagging behind the rest of New Jersey and The United States. This township is in critical condition, because the sense of unity, dreams, and change has been lost. To revive our fair township of Irvington we must recover from the phlegmatic state which we are so accustomed to and take action, or like a house with a weak foundation the town will soon crumble to the ground. To begin improving the living standards of Irvington the community, we must come together, scrutinize the community, and solve our basic problems. Then, this township can advance. In the words ... Another example, used is the "churches burned and kids killed" king shows dehumanizing by him say kids have been burned, killed however, thinks people should not slump to the same level and by peaceful protesting they can end this racism, however, Obama has a different view he uses evidence from past event like; Evil does exist in the world." A non–violent movement could not have halted Hitler's armies." He showed that it was necessary to use violence, for we could not have stopped Hitler by protest. The world has problems that have to make the decision on how to approach and sometimes the issues need to be approached in a non friendly way. Also he justifies violence by using another past event such as,Negotiations cannot convince al Qaeda's leaders to lay down their arms. .–Obama know that al Qaeda's would not sit down and talk or let protest stop him ... • 21. The Characteristics Of Great Leaders What separates leaders, especially mediocre ones from the great ones? What are the attributes and behaviors that great leaders display in order to influence people, to follow them and change the world? Great leaders are effective when they are trustworthy, empower others, and connect with their followers or the people they influence. Trust is the foundation of any great leader. 1) When Richard Nixon lost the trust of the American people he knew another bid for the Presidency was over.In the process, Nixon lost his identity as a leader and subsequently the respect and trust of the American people whom he had worked so diligently to gain. He and many other leaders like him attempted to isolate himself from the people of which he lead instinctively going into survival mode; denying the ultimate truth that success as a leader is impossible if attempted to go it alone. 2) Before Steve Jobs came back for his second amazing round at Apple, he lost the trust of the executives and John Sculley a power struggle ensued amongst them and Jobs was ousted from the very company he created. In the spring of 1985 Apple's board sided with the CEO, removing Jobs from his command of the Macintosh group. Trust is the foundation of every great leader. Trust with followers comes from the character of the leader. A great leader must have patience, integrity, confidence, and transparency. If one can win the trust of people, people will follow. Great leaders have the ability to solidify trust by empowering those willing to follow them. A great leader knows their team member's strengths and plays to these strengths by giving them task that they know will help the individual succeed as well as the overall team. 3) John C. Maxwell in his book 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership says that, "a leader must give up in order to go up". No great leader accomplishes great things by themselves; it takes a team of people. Great leaders in order to win with people must have personable attributes to connect with the people following them. That isn't to say that everyone has to like the leader personally but the leader must be able to connect with the people following. 4) A prime example can be found in the 2008 primaries between Hillary Clinton and ... Just seven days shy of starting a new chapter in my life, college, I was standing in Bridgestone Arena in the presence of the Dixie Chicks. Although this song carries a strong body positivity message, the imperfections bore proudly by the women in the video are the imperfections deemed appropriate, or more common, to society such as being overweight, having a gap in between teeth, frizzy hair, freckles, and wrinkles. The lighting was perfect and nobody's skin was oily, had any acne, discoloration, or scars. Those imperfections society judges more because it is "gross" and easy to point out. These women looked beautiful with and without makeup, but without they were liberated and showed their true beauty and who they were. The album contains several hit tracks with varied arrangements from reggae to R&B. It garnered Grammy Award nominations for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album in 2012 while Rolling Stone referred to it as "the year 's finest pop debut: 10 near–perfect songs." Although majority of the album tracks were composed by The Smeezingtons, of which Bruno Mars is also a member, some tracks were also products of collaboration with other artists and record producers including Needlz for "Just the Way You Are." As Bruno Mars puts it during his interview with Pete Lewis, "Well, 'doo–wop' is a very special word for me", explains an ever–personable Mr. Mars: "Because I grew up listening to my dad who, as a Fifties rock & roll head, loved doo–wop music. • 80. Martin Luther King Speech Analysis Throughout Martin Luther King Jr's. speech, he uses violence as a form of getting his perspective and view across to his audience. King uses violence in order to persuade the audience for other reasons differing from Barack Obama's view on violence. Martin Luther king brings to light the amount of damage that violence is causing in order to pursue the audience when saying "I am mindful that only yesterday in Philadelphia, Mississippi, young people seeking to secure the right to vote were brutalized and murdered. And only yesterday more than 40 houses of worship in the State of Mississippi alone were bombed or burned because they offered a sanctuary to those who would not accept segregation." (pg.1). Although this seems upsetting, King chooses to bring it to light in order to open societies eyes and convince them that violence is destroying the world day by day. King says in his speech "I believe that wounded justice, lying prostrate on the blood–flowing streets of our nations, can be lifted from this dust of shame to reign supreme among the children of men." (pg.2). When King says this, it automatically gives society a reason for automatically thinking that indeed we have violence in this world, and things should be changed immediately. King brings this to the attention of society that he believes that we as a community can change and turn into something better. King uses words like brutalized and murdered to convince and persuade the audience into having a different view on why violence isn't okay while Obama uses his view on violence to persuade his audience in a different manner. Barack Obama brings up the fact that non– violence would not have put a stop to Hitler's armies just like negotiation between the U.S. and al Qaeda's leaders wouldn't have made them put their arms down and act any differently (pg.6). Barack Obama is trying to open up societies eyes and give them a different viewpoint on his beliefs and how he thinks situations like the tragic experience that Jews had to face in Auschwitz should be handled. In addition to the previous statement, Barack Obama also talks about the fact that all nations must embrace the role that milliteries with a clear mandate, order of commision, can have in order ...
