The front cover designer has chosen to use a medium close-up. Her
body contrasts with the background as it is dark and the lighting used
on the Kate Lawler is very bright. This entices the audience. Her make-
up and facial expression is suggestive of a sexual topic, also attracting
a male audience. The image of Kate Lawler on the contents page is the
same image used on the double page spread. However it is smaller on
the contents page. The image is very different to the one used on the
front cover. Black is used a lot on the front cover, where white is used
for the image on the contents/double page spread. The white suggests
innocence, unlike on the front cover. Because they are different, this
could suggest two different sides to Kate Lawler. The innocence could
also attract a woman audience. Overall I think these images are trying
to attract both gender audiences.

For this front cover a medium close up is used to show Laura Izibor
looking innocent and happy. She is smiling which suggests that the
magazine is light-hearted, attracting woman audiences. A lot of white is
used which also suggests innocence and purity. Her make-up is natural
and minimal, again suggesting something light hearted. The image
used on the contents page is similar to the front cover. However this
images uses a close-up rather than a medium close-up and she is not
longer twisting her body to look at the camera. The image used on the
double spread page is very different to the other two images. In this
image she is wearing a leather jacket, giving it a less innocent feel. We
can now see more of her body as she is leaning back on a piano. She
is looking away from the camera but she is still smiling. The images
work together to create a light hearted feel, attracting more women than
men.

The image used on the front cover is a close-up. The image looks dark
as minimal lighting is used. The celebrity’s facial expression is
aggressive, with one eye brow raised. The colours and facial
expression suggest a more manly read. The celebrity is looking into the
camera, enticing the audience. The image on the contents page uses
the same sort of colours as the front cover however it is a low angle,
mid shot, making the celebrity look large and powerful. In this image,
his hands are more noticeable that his face. His hands are crossed and
he looks as if he has something to tell, suggesting an interesting read.

The image is again a low angle, creating the same effect as the
contents page. The images work together to create a rap genre. I think
that this magazine would attract more men than women.
