The document discusses choosing a photo for a magazine cover. It notes that the photo has high contrast colors that would make it stand out on shelves. However, the lighting is not from all angles, creating shadows under the girl's arm and leg that would need to be edited out to meet magazine cover standards. The girl's relaxed pose fits the laidback theme of the issue.

2. I chose this photo because as an overall photo
it has a large contrast in colours, which would
make it stand out from the others on the shelf.
To add to this, the bright lighting is used to
enhance these colours further. This then
eliminates any chance of shadows if there is
lighting from all sides of the girl. However,
what is not aesthetically pleasing about this
photo is the lack of lighting coming from all
angles. This creates a shadow underneath her
left arm and right leg which is not typical to a
magazine front cover. The girls body language
is relaxed, as it appears as if she is leaning
against the wall. This makes the overall image
appear quite laid back, which is what my cover
lines for this particular issue are about. If I
were to use this photo then the shadow
underneath her left arm and right leg would
have to be photo shopped.

happy, showing that she is more upbeat, which
would mean that the magazine would look
more cheerful too.

about this photo is the lack of lighting coming
from all angles. This creates a shadow
underneath her left arm, and a slight shadow
on her face. This is not typical to a magazine
front cover, and the shadows would have to be
eliminated before putting on a front cover. The
girls body language is relaxed, as it appears as
if she is leaning against the wall. This makes
the overall image appear quite laid back, which
is what my cover lines for this particular issue
are about.

7. This is the chosen photo for my magazine
photo, as it follows all of the codes and
conventions that make a great front cover
photo. It has a large contrast in colours, which
would make it stand out from the others on
the shelf. To add to this, the bright lighting is
used to enhance these colours further. This
then eliminates any chance of shadows if there
is lighting from all sides of the girl.
