Scenerio #1
A (Analyze learners):
My students are special ed first graders. There are 10 boys and 7 girls. Of this class, 70% are
Caucasian, 10% are Hispanic and 20% are African American. There are 7 students who have
ADHD. The severity ranges from mild to severe.
The first grade students are able to locate materials in the classroom. They are able to count and
color. They enjoy hands on approaches and appear to learn best that way. They do not like tests
and also like group activities.
S (State Objectives):
After this week, my first graders will be able to say the months in order, know how many days
are in the months, know how to read a calendar and will be able to create their own calendars.
They will be allowed to use printer paper either colored or plain, pens, pencils, colored pencils,
crayons and a calendar as a guide to help them if they get stuck. My requirement for them is an
80%. My students will be able to use resources made available to them only in the classroom.
They may ask myself and other students questions about the months. They are allowed to use
whatever materials that they want to create their calendars.
S (Select methods, media, materials):
For this assignment, I will use an activity at the beginning of the class where my students will
get in pairs of 2 and tell me what they know about months of the year to get them engaged in the
day’s lesson. After the activity, I will present them with new information and have them look up
calendars online on Google. The media that will be used is Google.com and music that is singing
about the months. The materials used will be computers, a cd player, a projector, markers,
pencils, paper, etc.
U (Utilize media and materials):
I will preview the music and pictures of the calendars that I want to use. Next, I will gather up
the projector and cd player and make sure that all of the computers are functioning correctly. I
will organize the paper, markers, colored pencils and pens neatly on a table in the front of the
classroom where it will be easy for them to access. Their desks will also be arranged sitting
together two by two prepared for group work.
R (Require learner participation):
The group work assignment that they do and physically making their calendars will be their
participation.
E (Evaluate and revise):
I will evaluate their calendars and see if they reached 80%. If they did not then I will revise
their calendars, show them what mistakes that they made and have them make new calendars.
