1. Audience Feedback
Off Campus Teaser Trailer
After showing a class of around 25
media students my teaser trailer
these are the comments that they
responded with...
2. Method
•I used a focus group to collect my data
•I collected qualitative data; being people’s comments
•I then created charts to turn my data to quantitative, this
enabled me to see which comments were most frequent
and to see what people liked and disliked most.
•The sample I used were representative of my target
audience
• they were mixed gender around the ages of 17-19 years
old and so are likely to watch real horror films.
•There would have been no point in asking people who
are not my target audience as it is important to find out
what my audience like and dislike about a trailer.
3. Positive comments
Here is a chart to show some of the positive comments that my audience had to say
about the trailer.

4. Positive comments
continued:
As shown by my chart there was many things that the
audience seemed to like about the trailer, many
aspects were consistently liked such as
gore, narrative, soundtrack and suspense, however it
was the use of shots that were picked up on most.
Shots such as the car scene at the end and the jumpy
cupboard scene, were noted by the audience as being
particularly conventional of horror and most scary in
the trailer.

6. Negative comments
continued:
In terms of negative comments it would appear that the
soundtrack and voiceovers are the things that the
audience mostly disliked, they said that the voice-overs
were unclear and recommended that this should be made
louder and that the music should have a smoother
transition when it begins to pick up pace. Some people
were also unsure whether the end music was very
conventional of horror, stating that it seemed more
action like, but this was disputed amongst the group and
some disagreed that it enabled the trailer to pick up pace
better.
7. In conclusion...
•There were many positive comments about my
trailer, some found some parts quite scary which I think
makes it work as a horror trailer.
•Despite various comments about the music I think that
many people were unsure about it because the transition
between the starting music and the action packed is quite
sudden. I think that it enabled the trailer to pick up pace and
fit to the horror genre well.
•However, I think that perhaps too many deaths were
shown in the trailer which gave too much away about the
narrative, instead possibly more information could have
been given about the killer as some of the audience were
left a little confused.
