What have you learned from
your audience feedback?
• Over the course of making my trailer it has changed dramatically, my first
draft was not really good, it had bad cinematography, sound, editing and mise
en scene. So I gathered some help from my audience via email and I was told
to change various things, from this feedback I learned that I needed to make
my narrative more cleat than what I was, That I needed to use a voice over
and that the music I picked did not match the genre, so from this I made
many changes to my trailer, which I believed made it more effective and
appealing. Below is the email in response to mine to what I should change to
make it more effective
Audience feedback
• For my audience feedback I showed all 3 of my products to a group of
people within my target audience, I then asked for feedback on each
of the 3 products on what they thought was good and what they
thought could be improved, the next few slides will include various
quotes for each of my 3 products
Trailer positive feedback
• “ The editing was good so the trailer had a good flow, therefore the
narrative made sense”
• “ I liked the acting of most of your actresses”
• “I liked the voice over that you used, It sounded mysterious and
creepy, as a murder mystery should sound, it find it good”
Trailer negative feedback
“ I did not like the locations you used, you could of used some dark
remote locations”
“ I did not like the use of the text for the messages on screen, it would
have been better to see them on the phone from a point of view shot”
“ The lighting was inconsistent”
Negative feedback
• “ The lighting was inconsistent”
• This was a fair point and I agree with it, as at many points I had fairly
good natural lighting, then at some points I had really bad lighting
due to not using the lights I had properly, such as shown below, I have
really good lighting outside on the left and really bad lighting on the
right, from this audience feedback I learned that I need to improve
my skills with the use of lights, to ensure I have a better trailer overall,
as lighting is a big important element in the development of a trailer
Overall trailer feedback
• Overall I am happy with the feedback that I received from my audience feedback, I
learned many things frim it. The most popular comment was that my trailers editing was
good and effective, I used continuity editing and dissolved effect to switch between my
scenes, they are the only two types of editing I used and the audience I showed it to
agreed that it was effective and made the narrative flow effectively. Furthermore
another positive comment was my voice over, my friend did a creepy American voice and
I wanted it to sound like it was a tape recording, to add more of a dramatic effect, which
was successful as the audience I showed it to liked it
• However, I did received from positive feedback in which I learned that I need to improve
my lighting techniques. Also I learned that my locations were also disliked by my
audience, they said it would have been better with darker locations, however this was
out of my control as all of my actresses were in different locations and it was not possible
to meet up to late to get filming done in dark locations due to distance
Poster positive feedback
• “ I liked the image that you used of the two girls”
• “ I like that you have included reviews on your poster, it makes it look
more appealing”
• “ I like the black background with bits of grey, it suits horror and
murder mystery”
Poster negative feedback
• “ I did not like how you made your title, you should of only used one
color”
• “ I do not think you should of included the release date on the poster,
it is not needed on a poster”
Overall poster feedback
• I agree with all of the points my audience presented me with, I do
think that my main image on the poster is effective and it works well
with the background, but I also learned some negatives from my
audience feedback, I learned that my poster would look more
effective if I used a different font and colours for my title as it does
not look as effective as I would like it to, I also learned that including
the date was not as necessary as I thought, after the feedback from
my audience, I did further feedback on movie posters and found a lot
do not include the date and they looked more effective than the ones
with dates included, so if I were to make this again I would make the
title look more effective and remove the release date
Magazine positive feedback
• “ I like the post of your actresses”
• “ I liked the font of the main story”
Magazine negative feedback
• “ I do not like the font of the sub stories
• “ I do not like the color scheme”
• “ I do not like the plug
• “ I dislike the title”
Overall magazine feedback
• I learned from my audience feedback that my magazine did not turn
put to be as effective as I wanted it to be. It had little positive
feedback and I have to agree with them in that the only positive
thing was the image I used as it fitted the characters personality
types. However the rest of it was negative. The fonts I used weren’t
very good, the plug looks out of place and the red is too bright,
furthermore I agree that the color scheme is not effective because it
is meant to be a murder mystery horror film and I have used the color
grey which does not have an effect of implying the danger. So, I
learned from the audience feedback that If I were going to make thus
again the only thing that I would keep is the main image.
I also carried out some questionnaires to find put what my audience liked best
about my trailer. From the feedback of the audience I learned that the most
positive things of my trailer was the cinematography and the editing and the
weakest points were the sound and mise en scene. I agree with the sound as in
some of my scenes the voices of my actors echo and they are not at the same
level throughput the trailer. Additionally, I agree and disagree with the mise en
scene, as it was a horror it should have had some dark scenes, but this was not
my intention as it was set on a campus, furthermore it was not possible to get
such scenes due to my actresses all living far apart

I also asked my audience what product they thought was better, I learned that my audience really
liked my poster and trailer, however they did not like my magazine, which I agree with as I asked why
they did not like it and they responded with “ it is inconsistent” “ I do not like the color scheme”
which I agree with as it is meant to be for a horror magazine but I used the color grey which is not
really associated with horror, If I were to do this again I would of used more black on my magazine
and less red, even though red is associated with horror, I believe I used too much on my magazine
Below are some pie charts of a non media audience response on each of
my products on if they can tell that my product is horror murder
mystery, I learned that same that I did from my media group, which is
that my poster and trailer are easy to identify as horror murder ,mystery
and that my magazine is not as effective and is hard to identify as horror
murder mystery, If I were to this again I would completely change my
magazine
