2. INCULCATING VALUES AND ETHICS IN CHILDREN
• Five universal human values i.e. Truth,
Righteous conduct, Peace, Love and Non-
violence are directly linked to physical,
intellectual, emotional psyche and spiritual
facets of human personality.
• There is need and urgency to strengthen
these values for a better and humane society
• How to inculcate this values and ethics in
children ?
3. ADVOCACY STRATEGY: MOBILIZING FOR ACTION
Identifying issues:
Respect for elders, rules, laws etc.
Respect for traditions and culture
Cultivate tolerance and temperament
Promote a caring and concerned mind
Build the child’s character not just career
4. THE GOAL AND OBJECTIVE
To strengthen moral values in
society by promoting
justice, equity and unity
5. TARGETING – AUDIENCES & STAKEHOLDERS
Society including Government &
various media
(TV/internet/mobile etc.)
Principals, teachers,
classmates
Siblings & Friends
Parents & Grand Parents
Children
6. TARGET AUDIENCES
Parents and Grandparents –exert greatest
influence on children, their role models.
Siblings and friends – children spend majority of
time with friends and siblings, very important
influence.
Principals, teachers and classmates – teachers
are also role models. The environment of school
is nearly as important as the environment at
home.
Society – More influence on adolescent child.
Society is an extension on the family.
7. COMMON GROUND
The future of the society depends on the
children.
Children with ethics and values will create a
society free from social evils and crimes.
It will reduce corruption, increase responsible
behaviour, thereby leading to better
governance.
Efforts to inculcate values and ethics in children
will also require the present generation to
behave in an ethical and responsible manner.
Thus, not only the future but the present
condition of the society will also improve.
