How Did Josef Mengele Medical Experiments
The Holocaust was led by Adolf Hitler during World War II. There were many countries involved
such as, the United States of America, Italy, France, and Germany. The Angel of Death also known
as Dr. Josef Mengele was one of the most famous doctors that worked in the internment camps.
Some of the experiments were on twins and dwarfs. Dr. Mengele used a lot of different experiments
against the Jews and there are lasting effects/remnants from the experiments. During the first phase
of experiments, pairs of twins and people with abnormalities through heritage were put on display
for Dr. Mengele and were assigned to go through all conceived medical examinations. These people
had their picture taken. Plaster casts were made from their own jaws and teeth. They were also toe
printed and fingerprinted. As soon as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tub of ice water proved to be the fastest way to drop the body temperature. The victims of these
experiments were young, healthy Jews and Russians. Usually they were stripped and were to be
prepared for their experiments. An insulated probe, which measured the drop in the body's
temperature was put into the rectum. The probe was held in the rectum by an expandable metal ring
that would have been composed to open the inside of the rectum to hold it thoroughly in place. After
they got the probe in place the victim would then be placed into a tub of ice water and begin to
freeze. It was later learned that most victims strayed from consciousness and died when their body
temperature dropped down to 25 degrees Celsius. The intense winters in Auschwitz made a natural
place for some of these experiments. The other way to freeze a victim was to restrain them on a
stretcher and take them outside naked (Medical Experiments of the Holocaust and Nazi

Essay about Free Will and Determinism Views
The aim of this essay is to prove the reliability of and why Libertarianism is the most coherent of
the three Free Will and Determinism views. It refers to the idea of human free will being true, that
one is not determined, and therefore, they are morally responsible. In response to the quote on the
essay, I am disagreeing with Wolf. This essay will be further strengthened with the help of such
authors as C.A. Campell, R. Taylor and R.M. Chisholm. They present similar arguments, which
essentially demonstrate that one could have done otherwise and one is the sole author of the
volition. I will present the three most common arguments in support of Libertarianism, present an
objection against Libertarianism and attempt to rebut it as well as ... Show more content on

In addition Campbell clarifies that for this to be accurate: predictability and unintelligibility of an
act must be also true. These mean that no one could have done the choosing for them and that the
act cannot be explained, respectively. However, if it does not follow one's character, how is it a
random act (also known as agent causality)? Likewise, one must be able to predict the behaviour of
someone they know well. Even so, in the end it is all about probability, just like trying to predict
weather. One cannot answer why, so it must be random because if one shows it necessarily had to
happen, they are giving it a cause. So, all in all, why should one limit themselves to the outer person
when there is an inner experience? There are actual meanings to acts and others will not know them.
As a result one does have free will.
Taylor's view on Libertarianism is very similar. He believes that one has inner acts and that they are
the sole creator of the act (so, they could have done otherwise). He says that it is the only thing that
makes sense. It is a denial of any antecedent acts, character and the similar. Furthermore, he says
that all actions are caused, but unlike in determinism, they are all triggered by the sole author
themselves. A sole author in this case is a human, one that is capable of being the first to cause a
chain. The sole author can initiate an action through its

Jock Sturges Essay
Jock Sturges, born in 1947 in New York, is an American photographer whose works, alongside Sally
Mann or Joseph Szabo, may be one of the most intimate portraits of adolescence and youth.
Interested in the medium since the mid–60s, Sturges educated himself at the Malboro College in
Vermont (1974), where he studied Perceptual Psychology and Photography, later continued at the
San Francisco Art Institute (1985). Even though he started to exhibit in the 70s, helding several
displays throughout the next decade, his serious recognition came in the early–90s. Surrounded by
both broad acclaim and many controversies, Sturges published his first book "The Last Day of
Summer" (1992), followed by "Radiant Identities" and "Evolution of Grace" (both 1994). Some of
his most important exhibitions of the time include venues such as the Prinz Gallery in Kyoto (1994),

Between 1935 and 1937, he studied at the State Academy of Photodesign in Munich. Interrupted by
World War II, Keetman continued the studies after 1945, receiving a master diploma in 1948.
Alongside Ludwig Windstoßer or Otto Steinert, among other members of the Fotoform, Keetman
became one of the most influential proponents of the innovative approach within the medium, and
partook exhibitions "Subjective Photography" (1951) and the festival Photokina in Cologne. Soon
after, commissioned by Volkswagen, he produced one of his well–known series "A week at the
Factory" (1953), which can be regarded as the great return to the Interwar period aesthetics and
ideas. The work of Keetman has remained an interesting subject to a number of displays until now,
featured in survey exhibitions at the Kunsthalle Rostock (2015), Folkwang Museum in Essen

Modernist Art And Modernism
Modernism at its core focuses on the world, culture and society during the time in which works
were made in the late 19th and 20th centuries. While Modernism encompassed a handful of unique
styles and movements, only one in particular took an interest in the qualities of dreamlike states and
unconsciousness: Surrealism. The Surrealist period dates back to its beginning in 1924 and ending
in 1945. Members of this art movement worked together closely in an organized fashion under their
leader Andre Breton. Under Breton's work the First Surrealist Manifesto written in 1924, he laid
down the movement's foundation and created a stepping stone for other artists to follow behind.
Through this text and the artist's works, "the Surrealists laid the foundation for a type of artistic
practice that continues to maintain its relevance."1 Surrealist artists took a stand against the formal
workings of the everyday, trained artist and instead looked within themselves to create works
turning away from control and logical reasoning that continuously inspires artists even to this day.
Artists involved in the Surrealist art movement focused solely on dreams, psychology and everyday
life experiences. Surrealist art heavily emphasized the "...confrontation of opposites, the
combination of everyday objects, and their artistic transformation into strange, suggestive,
fascinating hybrids – psychologically impressive "things" whose real character can hardly be
described in words."2 Many Surrealist works have a strange feeling to them as they are able to pull
the viewer into an almost otherworldly state that can be difficult to describe in words. As a

of the unconscious combined with everyday experiences and objects became the main focus for the
movement. Through their art, these artists intended to use instinct and automatism rather than using
control or logic in their works. Subconscious thoughts would enter ones mind and take over, freeing

Critical Theories Of Critical Theory
Critical theory emerged from the work of German theorists collectively known as The Frankfurt
School. The origins of Critical Theory are directly centered in the creation of The Institute for Social
Research and the social thinkers who promoted the Idealism of Karl Marx. The first Marxist
oriented research school (Frankfurt school) was in Europe and scholars at school developed a
critical theory of society called `Kritisch Theory` which was designed for a specific approach to
interpreting Marxism. This approach sought to revise Marx's. Criticizing of capitalism and the idea
that revolution was the best way to change the social and political structure since his death. The first
president of the school was Carl Grundberg, who wanted Scientific Marxism. Max Horkheimer, the
second president, wanted a more philosophical and less dogmatic approach, which was open to
diverse intellectual currents. The dilemma that the first generation of Critical Theorists had to
reconcile was Marx's emancipatory dream with the stark reality of modern society as conceptualized
by Max ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first criticism of critical theory is that it reproduces idealist (utopian) positions. The second
criticism is that critical theory shows undue concern about philosophical and theoretical problems
.The third criticism of critical theory is its preoccupation with negativity. The fourth criticism of
critical theory is the claim that it developed from a purely academic setting and thus was isolated
from working–class politics and became increasingly embroiled in abstract issues and "second–
order" discourse. The fifth criticism leveled against critical theory is that it is a historical that the
critical theorists have examined a variety of events without paying much attention to their historical
and comparative contexts. Moreover, according to Agger, Critical theory can either be a museum
piece or a living medium of political self–expression (Ager,

Personal Narrative Essay: The Trans Caribbean Air
When my eyes dared to open, the Trans Caribbean airplane had touched down barreling down the
runway until the wheel brakes subdued the speed. Just a few more seconds and the ordeal was
finally over. "Thank you sweet Jesus," I whispered, "for letting me survive my first airplane flight
and transatlantic to top it off." Perspiration exuded from every pore of my body and I felt exhausted.
My husband sitting next to me holding my sweaty hand while my other arm was clutching my 14–
month–old child cradled in the safety of my lap. Suddenly, a loud shrill noise – my fear intensified
another notch, but the stewardess quickly assured us that everything was fine; she had accidentally
dropped the mike to the intercom. At last, the plane taxied slowly toward the terminal. A stewardess

The Occupy Wall Street Movement
Occupy Wall Street Since the beginning of the 1900's the world has seen more and more social
movements being led by young people, who protest against the worlds inequalities. These
movements range from the civil rights movement, to the hippie movement in the late 60's to more
"modern" movements. One of those movements is the Occupy Wall Street movement or OWS for
short. From October 2011 onward, OWS was not only the largest protest movement in North
America but also sparked worldwide protest that either used the Occupy name or embodied the
OWS ideology in some way. This essay will first talk about the origin of OWS, its ideology, goals

The Occupy movement spread to several countries and sparked protests on 6 different continents all
under the Occupy banner. For this essay I will be analyzing Germany. On October 15th
demonstrations took place in several major German cities including Frankfurt am Main, Berlin,
Hamburg, München, Köln, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, which amounted to around 40.000 protestors.
In Frankfurt around 5000 protestors marched to the European Central Bank and around 150 of those
5000 protestors started to camp out indefinitely. Frankfurt is the major economic hub for Germany
and is the home of the German stock exchange and major European banks. Since it is such an
economic hub it was the center of the German Occupy movement. Even though it was part of the
Occupy movement it did not call itself so but rather adopted the name: Blockupy. On November
12th members of the Occupy movement in Berlin and Frankfurt, formed human chains around the
German capitol building in Berlin and the Frankfurter financial district. Around 10.000 people
participated in Frankfurt and around 8000 people participated in Berlin. A union of the Attac,
Campact and Naturfreunde organizations organized these protest. On Mai 16, 2012 the Frankfurt
camp was temporarily evicted because of the planned Blockupy events against the ECB (European
Central Bank) and other major European banks. In August 2012 police cleared out major occupy

Conception of Free Will and the Concept of a Person
Philosopher's Frankfurt and Sartre both argue about the conception of free will and the concept of a
person. Sartre's main point is on existentialism, the fundamentals of freedom and the responsibilities
of our emotions and desires. Frankfurt focuses on the first order and second order desires.
Identifying with a desire and externalizing them and taking a stance as an agent, as well as, the
importance of morality and self interest. Jean–Paul Sartre is a philosopher who argues about the
conception of free will. In order to establish the existence of free will, it would have to be verified
whether it exists or not. Sartre asserts that perception is nothingness, and therefore nothingness
composes free will. Since, I exist as a human being, it's reasonable to say that my consciousness
exist as well.
We are nothing but our choices. Sartre notably says "existence precedes essence" by this he points
out that we produce our essence with our own actions. As human beings we are free to decide and
conclude our actions, even though we are defined by them. Consequently, we are accountable for
the actions that characterize who we are as a person. We must start with our own experiences of
ourselves, and this is what distinguishes us from every other kind of being. In regards to other
things, that essence simply defines the existence. Essence classifies the feature of something. Sartre
argues if God is nonexistent, there is no human spirit or real meaning. God is the creator of all

Zoe Leonard Analysis
One of the most interesting American artists today, Zoe Leonard, was born in 1961 in Liberty (New
York). Even though photography remains her primary medium, Leonard is best known for her
complex series, installations, and site–specific interventions. At the turn of the 70s and 80s, the artist
was among the leading figures of the New York's art scene, included in "Times Square Show"
(1982), the show organized by the COLAB, and at the same time involved in feminist and LGTB
movements. The following years, her wide recognition was fueled by the shows at the Greathouse
(1985) or the Artist's Space in New York (1988), culminating with her intervention at the
Documenta in Kassel (1992), where she removed all male portraits from the Neue Galerie, replacing
them with photographs of female genitals. However, in the 90s, her interests in details and textures
revealed within her sculpting practice, such as the widely acclaimed "Strange Fruit" (1995) series.

The View On Free Will
Avalon Singer
29 September 2014
Topic 1: What I Believe is the Correct View on Free Will
We are raised to believe that we are the makers of our own destiny. Every decision we make is our
own, and we are free citizens in every sense of the word.
Although this thought is comforting, I do not consider it to be true. I think that free will is an
illusion. The idea of free will is what keeps us sane and motivates us in our lives, but is not what
controls our lives. I presume that our world is ruled by determinism, yet due to the fact that people
believe that they are acting of their own free will they should be held morally responsible for their
actions.
In definition of the term determinism, our past actions and events govern what occurs in the present.
Therefore, our present actions will not only influence but will decide our future actions. In other
words, determinism is the belief that if our past actions or decisions had been different then the
outcome of our future actions would be as well. Philosopher A.J Ayer coincides with this in his
statement: "It may be said of the agent that he would have acted otherwise if the causes of his action
had been different, but they being what they were, it seems to follow that he was bound to act as he
did" (475). According to Natural laws, the universe is comprised of cause and effect relationships
with each cause having an effect and each effect having a cause. In trying to declare determinism to
be true above free will,

Cooking The Revolution During The Nineteenth Century
Cooking the Revolution
HTS Submission to Fabrizio Ballabio
Leticia Dadalto
In the nineteenth Century the kitchen worked as the machinery. It had to be the biggest room of the
plan in order to support all the apparatus needed for the housework: the stove, the sewing machine
and the fridge were basically built in architecture elements. That results in a very unhealthy and
harsh environment that keeps the house working. Each family had its own house and its own land
where their own food was produced and their own clothes were sewn by the enslaved housewife: the
whole system was based in isolation (Hayden, 1982). It is curious to notice how Woman 's History
started changing around design iterations of this once oppressive space.
In the mid–1800, names like Ernest Engels, Charles Fourier, Melusina Fey Peirce, the Beecher
sisters and Louise Bourgeous started to propose different organisations. The Material Feminists,
who believed in the economical independence of woman as the way to provide them freedom, were
supported by the Community Socialists (or Utopian Socialists) for the creation of ideal societies
with no distinction between class or gender (Hayden, 1982:10). The support between these thinkers
emphasises that in order to change woman's condition there is a need for changing the home design
as well as the household and the economical system. The patriarchic organisation of the house can
be considered a political–economical system in a

Criticism of Capitalism: Consumption in Society
Capitalism, in its advancements, had led to new criticisms made by Max Webber. He had come to
the conclusion that capitalism was a "result of the protestant spirit" (126). Webber believed that
religion, particularly Catholicism, had a bigger role in capitalism rather than the status of the
economy itself. Regardless of the standing power of ruling countries like Spain, capitalism did not
evolve due to the Catholic religion. As stated in Capitalism: a Graphic Guide, "being wealthy was
never seen as something to be proud of" (127). Although boasting about wealth was against the
Catholic Church, it was endured. Protestants believed otherwise. Protestant values, as well as
Catholicism, led Weber to consider justification, or rationalization, as a component rising from
capitalism. Webber's ideas mounting from capitalism brought procedural rationality into play.
Procedural rationality had to do with having sensibility and regulation in social interactions. This
meant that workers and businesses or higher were seen as equals. "In capitalism, profit becomes the
goal of commercial organizations, and their employees and customers are considered as means to
that effect" (130). It is team effort from both the manager or CEO and its employees to make better
profit for the organization. As a result from the efficiency that the organization is advising for their
workers, consumer sales can rise. For example, say that a spa is losing sales due to uninformed or
untrained employees. If the

laws and legations against the Jews came into force. Anne and her family were not allowed to take

Adorno Meets The Cadillacs Essay
Theodor W. Adorno, a German philosopher, claimed that popular music is a product of
industrialisation within his critique of mass culture. Adorno contended in his criticism that 'the same
thing is offered to everybody by the standardised production of consumption goods" which is
concealed under "the manipulation of taste and the official culture's pretence of individualism'1.
Adorno's theory has come under scrutiny by scholars over time as a result of notable flaws. Roy
Shuker states in Understanding Popular Music that Adorno's undermined his own work in his
ignorance towards the rise of rock 'n' roll in the 1950's, instead furthering in essays about Tin Pan
Alley and jazz–orientated variations of it. 2 Theodor Adorno Meets The Cadillacs is an article by
Bernard Gendron that discusses the implications of Adorno's lie in technological advances tends to

and Popular Music that there is substance of value within Adorno's theory that can be appropriated
into a more advanced concept of analysing popular music. This essay will implore the question of
how relevant Adorno's philosophy remains within today's culture of popular music.

The Major External Factors Of Deutsche Bank
In this essay will be examined three of the major external factors with which organizations have to
face everytime and ,accordingly, these determine how it is shaped their HR agenda. It is a well–
known fact that a company for its economic processes and to achieve its aims has to adapt itself
assiduously to the changing conditions of the environment in which acts. The external contexts that
will be evaluated in this paper are the economic, the political and the technological. First of all, this
paper will start suggesting a definition of HR agenda and a general explanation of the meaning of
external factors. Secondly, will be described the three main factors selected. In addition, for every
factor will be given examples to clarify these concepts related to Deutsche Bank. Then the work will
be concluded with a recapitulation of the main points and the necessity for a company to face
always with new challenges in a changing world. With HR Agenda are indicated the strategies and
the objectives that an organization proposes. In this way, the common purpose between companies
is to obtain the most advantageous position. To put it simply, the main priority of a strategy is to

to Ghana's independence in 1957. The paper specifically discusses the effects of colonization in

that while Ghana is still very much a developing country, Ghana is significantly better off than its

As already demonstrated above, violent conflicts have erupted and will continue to erupt in areas
where traditional states, traditional land tenure, chieftaincies are collapsing or there is a
fragmentation of communities. Examples of such situations are shown by many young nation–

destroyed by power struggles caused by ethnic and religious conflicts. Education and Development
in Nation–Building Lack of education is one of the most serious factors hindering development in
nation–building. This fact was realized in the early days of nation–building in Germany. Also, when
Ghana became independent in 1957, the first President realized the need for the promotion of
education in Ghana. In the case of Germany, for instance, it can be said that: "From 1763, against
resistance from the nobility and citizenry, an 'enlightened absolutism' was established in Prussia and
Austria, according to which the ruler was to be 'the first servant of state'. The economy developed

Determinism Vs. Indeterminism And The Existence Of Free Will
Though there is no singular definition of 'free will', the standard argument against it is the dilemma
between determinism/indeterminism and the fact that these two concepts threaten the prospect or the
existence of free will. Determinism is the basic philosophical principle that every event, including
human decisions and actions, are the imminent consequence of prior events. Strict determinism
would argue that free will does not exist due to the fact that our previous actions or past events,
determine what our future actions will be. Thus creating the idea that a 'present free will' could not
actually occur, essentially contending that human autonomy is impossible. A determinist would
argue that 'free will' is essentially an illusion, arguing that preceding actions predetermine any
choice we make in the future. Though determinism argues against the case of free will, it is a
common misconception that most compatibilists are determinists. Though useful, determinism is
somewhat unnecessary when deciding whether we act freely or not as it fails to explain why we act
at will. However, the objection to free will that the deterministic approach takes is one that I will
explore in this essay in regards to the different theories of compatibilism.
A traditional argument of compatibilism would simply state that freedom of the will is otherwise
known as the freedom to do whatever an agent would desire, without the obstruction from any
exterior elements. Hobbes would argue that free

Anne Frank's Life Inside The Secret Annex
Anne Frank and her life inside the Secret Annex. It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals,
they seem so absurd and impractical. "Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of
everything, that people are truly good at heart.–Anne Frank, July 15th, 1944". Annelies Marie
Frank, young, curious, stuck in the middle of World War ll and the Holocaust. The ideal story of
Anne Frank shows us that hoping and dreaming can get you past the hardships of life as you are
given a reason to keep moving on. Anne Franks history wasn't clear but these few things were. Anne
Franks full name was "Annelies Marie Frank", she was born on June 12, 1929, Frankfurt am Main,
Germany. Annelies went into hiding, with the Frank family, Van Daan family, and later on Mr.
Dussel, at Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. Annelies life was very hard and no one should ever
have to go through that again. Anne had attended the Jewish Lyceum since 1 October 1941 but later

Camera Obscura, By Anne Frank
Anne Frank was undoubtedly one of the most influential people after the holocaust, and her
footsteps are still heard today in the form of her diary.
Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt Am Main, Germany, in 1929, then later moved to Amsterdam in
1934, where she and her family could live in relative peace for about 6 years, at which point she
would be forced to leave the public high school and move to the Jewish high school in Amsterdam.
In 1942, she was given her famous diary at the age of thirteen. This very diary would stay with her
until her death of typhus at Bergen–Belsen after a particularly harsh winter, after which Otto Frank
took it on himself to publish it. Anne and her family were subjected to two years of hiding in the
Secret Annex in Amsterdam, where their only source of information from the outside were Johannes
Kleiman and Victor Kugler, who also arranged food ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It depicts her experiences as a child during the holocaust starting from the very day she got the
diary, her birthday. She also noted getting Camera Obscura "I was given Camera Obscura, a party
game, lots of sweets, chocolates, a puzzle, a brooch, Tales and legends of the netherlands, by Joseph
Cohen, Daisy's Mountain Holiday, and some money." This provides a useful reference to the time
period, as camera obscura is a rather antiquated form of the camera. The diary provided a rather
insightful look into what it was like to be in hiding for so long, like Margot wishing for a hot bath
once they are allowed outside again. Her diary has affected many in positive ways, giving them a
peek into her experiences, and the cruelty of the holocaust. Anne Frank has been one of the most
influential people in the holocaust, and her story has been one of the best examples of how Hitler's
senseless cruelty affected people, as the documentation of a real person's thoughts can often be far
more comprehensible than the mere stating of

What Are The Similarities Between Lying And Bullshit
"One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit."(Frankfurt). This
statement truly defines the current situation of our life. I have developed a decent interest in this
topic because we are surrounded by it and the majority of people don't recognize it. There have been
a lot of difficulties in understanding this topic as there are no particular theory has been given to this
topic. According to Frankfurt bullshit is unavoidable at conditions in which we expect somebody to
talk without recognizing what he is discussing. Therefore, the production of bullshit is based on the
opportunities that an individual have to express more on a particular topic than his knowledge on the
particular topic. We are going to talk about the similarities and differences between lying and
bullshit. We will also discuss that which one is more harmful to the society and why, we are also
going to discuss about some of the questions that are related to bullshitting in our life and discuss
why we are not doing anything about it or it is just a human tendency.
Lying is the practice of communicating lies and there are many similarities between lying and
bullshit. First the main aim of liars and bullshitters are that they both want the other person to
believe that they are telling the truth. Secondly they both want to get away with the situation which
led them to tell a lie or bullshit. But there is a great difference between lying and bullshitting. The
liar has an

starvation and disease draws from us no more than a sigh, or a murmur of protest. Our own city

If culture and patriotism held society together, multiculturalism replaces it. If previously the family
offered the basis for morality and cohesiveness, that is changed by alternative lifestyle choices. If
religion provided the morals for society, those become replaced with atheism, or alternative forms of
belief. The aim of the 'new' left is to create a cultural consensus of equality, excluding race, genetics
and hereditary characteristics. This involves removing culture differences, using multiculturalism,
diversity and equality, with political correctness to stifle dissent. Just as the peasants and workers of
economic Marxism viewed class as the exploited, victims of culture become the new exploited

Matthias Schleiden: The Man Who Made The Most Important Today

For the comparison of Doganis? five key product features, the Ireland based low–cost carrier,
Ryanair will be compared to the German based, full–service airline, Lufthansa. Both airlines will be
using a city–pair from Dublin to Frankfurt for the basis of the comparison in airfare. Since, Ryanair
only offers a single fare for their seating class which is Economy, that is in accordance with most
low–cost models and Lufthansa offers First, Business, and Economy classes, only Lufthansa?s
economy class pricing will be used is used in this paper. Lufthansa uses a three tiers system for their
economy class, with each tiers offering different cost structures based on the prices of the fare,
which is based on options available. The tiers consist of Economy Light, Economy Classic, and
Economy Flex, to stay close in accordance with Ryanair, the Economy Light class offered by the
carrier will be used since the cost structure for this seating allows the passenger the same amenities
as the low–cost carrier.
In the airline industry pricing is vital. This type of product and service is one of the only key
features that are planned and combined together so that the airline can generate demand (Doganis,
2010).

1. Introduction
Ever since I was a child my father stressed the importance of education. He urged me to focus on
anything that interests me, encouraging me to keep a distance from the job he considered unfit but
necessary. My father viewed our liquor store business as a disgrace to both our culture and religion.
This hatred only pushed him to further attempt to inspire me, to make me change course and not get

idea of choosing items that were in demand and selling them at higher rates, slowly but surely

Back then people believed that money can be made over night just by investing. According to the
Wall Street prep website, everyone used to look up to JP Morgan, the National City Bank, because
they were the leaders of the game. JP Morgan was making a great amount of money, so great that he
personally saved the country during the calamitous panic in 1907. Banks began to use their federal
loans in order to push the stock market forward and make more money, and on black Tuesday of
October 29 the stock market crashed which was one of the causes of the Great Depression.
Furthermore, Wall Street prep also explains that During the Great Depression, the nation's banking
system was in confusion, nobody knew what was going to happen next, with 40% of banks failing.
The Glass–Steagall Act was done by the government with hopes of bringing all of the banks back to
life by creating a wall between commercial and investment banking. The separation was made
between the banks because it was time to the desire to win in investment banking and the duty to
help and provide service for people in regular banks. According to Walls Street prep, "The
regulations against such behavior became known as the Chinese Wall." They are called the Chinese
wall because they block each other like a wall.
Ever since the Glass–Steagall Act was made not many changes happened to investment banking,
and every day there are people who make millions of dollars, and people who lose

Gava Analysis

The purpose of this paper is to conduct a General Aviation Value Analysis (GAVA) to determine
whether one form of transportation is more efficient than another, in order for a group of colleagues
to attend a business meeting. The intent of the assignment was to assess the value of using a
business aircraft (verses commercial aircraft, personal car, train, etc.). The researcher compared and
contrasted two trip locations, with multiple variables of attendees, modes of travel, and expenses
associated with each variable.

The researcher used the majority of the parameters provided by the course syllabus, specifically the

Due to these facts, the calculations for the commute and parking at the airport were not fully utilized
(other than displaying them on the Excel spreadsheet).
Based upon previously mentioned assumptions and variables, it would cost two colleagues each 720
minutes to drive the 840 miles roundtrip to Prague from Frankfurt (Google, 2013). Assuming that
one travel day would be required to drive there, and one day to drive back, each employee would
drive 360 minutes (six hours) to get to the meeting in Prague. This would cost the company $480 in
wages (6 hours x $80/hour = $480) per employee, per travel day, for whomever goes to the meeting.
It would also cost the company $420 to pay for mileage for each vehicle that drove to Prague for the
meeting (840 miles total x $0.50/mile = $420).
In addition to the $960 in travel day wages (per employee), there is also the cost of wages for the
day of the actual meeting. A nine hour day (0900–1800), would cost the company $720 in wages (9
hours x $80/hour = $720) per employee who attends the meeting. Seeing as every form of
transportation will get the employees to the meeting at the same time, and all employees will spend
the same nine hours at the meeting, this factor is really not an issue for comparison.
Bottom–line: to send two people to the meeting in Prague would cost $960

How Did Josef Mengele Medical Experiments

  • 1. How Did Josef Mengele Medical Experiments The Holocaust was led by Adolf Hitler during World War II. There were many countries involved such as, the United States of America, Italy, France, and Germany. The Angel of Death also known as Dr. Josef Mengele was one of the most famous doctors that worked in the internment camps. Some of the experiments were on twins and dwarfs. Dr. Mengele used a lot of different experiments against the Jews and there are lasting effects/remnants from the experiments. During the first phase of experiments, pairs of twins and people with abnormalities through heritage were put on display for Dr. Mengele and were assigned to go through all conceived medical examinations. These people had their picture taken. Plaster casts were made from their own jaws and teeth. They were also toe printed and fingerprinted. As soon as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tub of ice water proved to be the fastest way to drop the body temperature. The victims of these experiments were young, healthy Jews and Russians. Usually they were stripped and were to be prepared for their experiments. An insulated probe, which measured the drop in the body's temperature was put into the rectum. The probe was held in the rectum by an expandable metal ring that would have been composed to open the inside of the rectum to hold it thoroughly in place. After they got the probe in place the victim would then be placed into a tub of ice water and begin to freeze. It was later learned that most victims strayed from consciousness and died when their body temperature dropped down to 25 degrees Celsius. The intense winters in Auschwitz made a natural place for some of these experiments. The other way to freeze a victim was to restrain them on a stretcher and take them outside naked (Medical Experiments of the Holocaust and Nazi ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Essay about Free Will and Determinism Views The aim of this essay is to prove the reliability of and why Libertarianism is the most coherent of the three Free Will and Determinism views. It refers to the idea of human free will being true, that one is not determined, and therefore, they are morally responsible. In response to the quote on the essay, I am disagreeing with Wolf. This essay will be further strengthened with the help of such authors as C.A. Campell, R. Taylor and R.M. Chisholm. They present similar arguments, which essentially demonstrate that one could have done otherwise and one is the sole author of the volition. I will present the three most common arguments in support of Libertarianism, present an objection against Libertarianism and attempt to rebut it as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition Campbell clarifies that for this to be accurate: predictability and unintelligibility of an act must be also true. These mean that no one could have done the choosing for them and that the act cannot be explained, respectively. However, if it does not follow one's character, how is it a random act (also known as agent causality)? Likewise, one must be able to predict the behaviour of someone they know well. Even so, in the end it is all about probability, just like trying to predict weather. One cannot answer why, so it must be random because if one shows it necessarily had to happen, they are giving it a cause. So, all in all, why should one limit themselves to the outer person when there is an inner experience? There are actual meanings to acts and others will not know them. As a result one does have free will. Taylor's view on Libertarianism is very similar. He believes that one has inner acts and that they are the sole creator of the act (so, they could have done otherwise). He says that it is the only thing that makes sense. It is a denial of any antecedent acts, character and the similar. Furthermore, he says that all actions are caused, but unlike in determinism, they are all triggered by the sole author themselves. A sole author in this case is a human, one that is capable of being the first to cause a chain. The sole author can initiate an action through its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Jock Sturges Essay Jock Sturges, born in 1947 in New York, is an American photographer whose works, alongside Sally Mann or Joseph Szabo, may be one of the most intimate portraits of adolescence and youth. Interested in the medium since the mid–60s, Sturges educated himself at the Malboro College in Vermont (1974), where he studied Perceptual Psychology and Photography, later continued at the San Francisco Art Institute (1985). Even though he started to exhibit in the 70s, helding several displays throughout the next decade, his serious recognition came in the early–90s. Surrounded by both broad acclaim and many controversies, Sturges published his first book "The Last Day of Summer" (1992), followed by "Radiant Identities" and "Evolution of Grace" (both 1994). Alongside Ludwig Windstoßer or Otto Steinert, among other members of the Fotoform, Keetman became one of the most influential proponents of the innovative approach within the medium, and partook exhibitions "Subjective Photography" (1951) and the festival Photokina in Cologne. Soon after, commissioned by Volkswagen, he produced one of his well–known series "A week at the Factory" (1953), which can be regarded as the great return to the Interwar period aesthetics and ideas. The work of Keetman has remained an interesting subject to a number of displays until now, featured in survey exhibitions at the Kunsthalle Rostock (2015), Folkwang Museum in Essen (2012), Museum Tinguely in Basel (2011), or the Art Institute of Chicago ... • 4. Modernist Art And Modernism Modernism at its core focuses on the world, culture and society during the time in which works were made in the late 19th and 20th centuries. While Modernism encompassed a handful of unique styles and movements, only one in particular took an interest in the qualities of dreamlike states and unconsciousness: Surrealism. The Surrealist period dates back to its beginning in 1924 and ending in 1945. Members of this art movement worked together closely in an organized fashion under their leader Andre Breton. Under Breton's work the First Surrealist Manifesto written in 1924, he laid down the movement's foundation and created a stepping stone for other artists to follow behind. Through this text and the artist's works, "the Surrealists laid the foundation for a type of artistic practice that continues to maintain its relevance."1 Surrealist artists took a stand against the formal workings of the everyday, trained artist and instead looked within themselves to create works turning away from control and logical reasoning that continuously inspires artists even to this day. Artists involved in the Surrealist art movement focused solely on dreams, psychology and everyday life experiences. Surrealist art heavily emphasized the "...confrontation of opposites, the combination of everyday objects, and their artistic transformation into strange, suggestive, fascinating hybrids – psychologically impressive "things" whose real character can hardly be described in words."2 Many Surrealist works have a strange feeling to them as they are able to pull the viewer into an almost otherworldly state that can be difficult to describe in words. As a ________________________ 1. Pfeiffer, Ingrid, and Max Mollein. Surreal Objects: Three– Dimensional Works from Dalí to Man Ray. (Frankfurt am Main: Schirn Kunsthalle, 2011), 5. 2. Through their art, these artists intended to use instinct and automatism rather than using control or logic in their works. Subconscious thoughts would enter ones mind and take over, freeing the ... • 5. Critical Theories Of Critical Theory Critical theory emerged from the work of German theorists collectively known as The Frankfurt School. The origins of Critical Theory are directly centered in the creation of The Institute for Social Research and the social thinkers who promoted the Idealism of Karl Marx. The first Marxist oriented research school (Frankfurt school) was in Europe and scholars at school developed a critical theory of society called `Kritisch Theory` which was designed for a specific approach to interpreting Marxism. This approach sought to revise Marx's. Criticizing of capitalism and the idea that revolution was the best way to change the social and political structure since his death. The first president of the school was Carl Grundberg, who wanted Scientific Marxism. Max Horkheimer, the second president, wanted a more philosophical and less dogmatic approach, which was open to diverse intellectual currents. The dilemma that the first generation of Critical Theorists had to reconcile was Marx's emancipatory dream with the stark reality of modern society as conceptualized by Max ... The fourth criticism of critical theory is the claim that it developed from a purely academic setting and thus was isolated from working–class politics and became increasingly embroiled in abstract issues and "second– order" discourse. The fifth criticism leveled against critical theory is that it is a historical that the critical theorists have examined a variety of events without paying much attention to their historical and comparative contexts. The Occupy Wall Street Movement Occupy Wall Street Since the beginning of the 1900's the world has seen more and more social movements being led by young people, who protest against the worlds inequalities. These movements range from the civil rights movement, to the hippie movement in the late 60's to more "modern" movements. One of those movements is the Occupy Wall Street movement or OWS for short. From October 2011 onward, OWS was not only the largest protest movement in North America but also sparked worldwide protest that either used the Occupy name or embodied the OWS ideology in some way. This essay will first talk about the origin of OWS, its ideology, goals and controversies surrounding protest and police involvement. It will then move on to talk about the ripple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Occupy movement spread to several countries and sparked protests on 6 different continents all under the Occupy banner. For this essay I will be analyzing Germany. On October 15th demonstrations took place in several major German cities including Frankfurt am Main, Berlin, Hamburg, München, Köln, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, which amounted to around 40.000 protestors. In Frankfurt around 5000 protestors marched to the European Central Bank and around 150 of those 5000 protestors started to camp out indefinitely. Frankfurt is the major economic hub for Germany and is the home of the German stock exchange and major European banks. Since it is such an economic hub it was the center of the German Occupy movement. Even though it was part of the Occupy movement it did not call itself so but rather adopted the name: Blockupy. On November 12th members of the Occupy movement in Berlin and Frankfurt, formed human chains around the German capitol building in Berlin and the Frankfurter financial district. Around 10.000 people participated in Frankfurt and around 8000 people participated in Berlin. A union of the Attac, Campact and Naturfreunde organizations organized these protest. • 8. Conception of Free Will and the Concept of a Person Philosopher's Frankfurt and Sartre both argue about the conception of free will and the concept of a person. Sartre's main point is on existentialism, the fundamentals of freedom and the responsibilities of our emotions and desires. Frankfurt focuses on the first order and second order desires. Identifying with a desire and externalizing them and taking a stance as an agent, as well as, the importance of morality and self interest. Jean–Paul Sartre is a philosopher who argues about the conception of free will. In order to establish the existence of free will, it would have to be verified whether it exists or not. Sartre asserts that perception is nothingness, and therefore nothingness composes free will. Since, I exist as a human being, it's reasonable to say that my consciousness exist as well. We are nothing but our choices. Sartre notably says "existence precedes essence" by this he points out that we produce our essence with our own actions. As human beings we are free to decide and conclude our actions, even though we are defined by them. Consequently, we are accountable for the actions that characterize who we are as a person. We must start with our own experiences of ourselves, and this is what distinguishes us from every other kind of being. In regards to other things, that essence simply defines the existence. Essence classifies the feature of something. Sartre argues if God is nonexistent, there is no human spirit or real meaning. God is the creator of all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though photography remains her primary medium, Leonard is best known for her complex series, installations, and site–specific interventions. At the turn of the 70s and 80s, the artist was among the leading figures of the New York's art scene, included in "Times Square Show" (1982), the show organized by the COLAB, and at the same time involved in feminist and LGTB movements. The following years, her wide recognition was fueled by the shows at the Greathouse (1985) or the Artist's Space in New York (1988), culminating with her intervention at the Documenta in Kassel (1992), where she removed all male portraits from the Neue Galerie, replacing them with photographs of female genitals. However, in the 90s, her interests in details and textures revealed within her sculpting practice, such as the widely acclaimed "Strange Fruit" (1995) series. • 10. The View On Free Will Avalon Singer 29 September 2014 Topic 1: What I Believe is the Correct View on Free Will We are raised to believe that we are the makers of our own destiny. Every decision we make is our own, and we are free citizens in every sense of the word. Although this thought is comforting, I do not consider it to be true. I think that free will is an illusion. The idea of free will is what keeps us sane and motivates us in our lives, but is not what controls our lives. I presume that our world is ruled by determinism, yet due to the fact that people believe that they are acting of their own free will they should be held morally responsible for their actions. In definition of the term determinism, our past actions and events govern what occurs in the present. Therefore, our present actions will not only influence but will decide our future actions. In other words, determinism is the belief that if our past actions or decisions had been different then the outcome of our future actions would be as well. Philosopher A.J Ayer coincides with this in his statement: "It may be said of the agent that he would have acted otherwise if the causes of his action had been different, but they being what they were, it seems to follow that he was bound to act as he did" (475). According to Natural laws, the universe is comprised of cause and effect relationships with each cause having an effect and each effect having a cause. • 11. Cooking The Revolution During The Nineteenth Century Cooking the Revolution HTS Submission to Fabrizio Ballabio Leticia Dadalto In the nineteenth Century the kitchen worked as the machinery. It had to be the biggest room of the plan in order to support all the apparatus needed for the housework: the stove, the sewing machine and the fridge were basically built in architecture elements. That results in a very unhealthy and harsh environment that keeps the house working. Each family had its own house and its own land where their own food was produced and their own clothes were sewn by the enslaved housewife: the whole system was based in isolation (Hayden, 1982). It is curious to notice how Woman 's History started changing around design iterations of this once oppressive space. In the mid–1800, names like Ernest Engels, Charles Fourier, Melusina Fey Peirce, the Beecher sisters and Louise Bourgeous started to propose different organisations. The Material Feminists, who believed in the economical independence of woman as the way to provide them freedom, were supported by the Community Socialists (or Utopian Socialists) for the creation of ideal societies with no distinction between class or gender (Hayden, 1982:10). The support between these thinkers emphasises that in order to change woman's condition there is a need for changing the home design as well as the household and the economical system. The patriarchic organisation of the house can be considered a political–economical system in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Criticism of Capitalism: Consumption in Society Capitalism, in its advancements, had led to new criticisms made by Max Webber. He had come to the conclusion that capitalism was a "result of the protestant spirit" (126). Webber believed that religion, particularly Catholicism, had a bigger role in capitalism rather than the status of the economy itself. Regardless of the standing power of ruling countries like Spain, capitalism did not evolve due to the Catholic religion. As stated in Capitalism: a Graphic Guide, "being wealthy was never seen as something to be proud of" (127). Although boasting about wealth was against the Catholic Church, it was endured. Protestants believed otherwise. Protestant values, as well as Catholicism, led Weber to consider justification, or rationalization, as a component rising from capitalism. Webber's ideas mounting from capitalism brought procedural rationality into play. Procedural rationality had to do with having sensibility and regulation in social interactions. This meant that workers and businesses or higher were seen as equals. "In capitalism, profit becomes the goal of commercial organizations, and their employees and customers are considered as means to that effect" (130). It is team effort from both the manager or CEO and its employees to make better profit for the organization. As a result from the efficiency that the organization is advising for their workers, consumer sales can rise. For example, say that a spa is losing sales due to uninformed or untrained employees. Otto Frank, Anne's father had worked in a bank in Germany but after moving, he opened his own company called "Opekta" where he sold spices. Both Anne and Margot went to school while their Mother Edith took care of the home. As the war progressed, becoming worse, the Frank family tried to emigrate to England or the United States of America, but all attempts failed. Slide Two – Seven year later, after moving to the Netherlands the German army invaded. As the invasion happened, laws and legations against the Jews came into force. Anne and her family were not allowed to take any form of transport. • 16. Adorno Meets The Cadillacs Essay Theodor W. Adorno, a German philosopher, claimed that popular music is a product of industrialisation within his critique of mass culture. Adorno contended in his criticism that 'the same thing is offered to everybody by the standardised production of consumption goods" which is concealed under "the manipulation of taste and the official culture's pretence of individualism'1. Adorno's theory has come under scrutiny by scholars over time as a result of notable flaws. Roy Shuker states in Understanding Popular Music that Adorno's undermined his own work in his ignorance towards the rise of rock 'n' roll in the 1950's, instead furthering in essays about Tin Pan Alley and jazz–orientated variations of it. 2 Theodor Adorno Meets The Cadillacs is an article by Bernard Gendron that discusses the implications of Adorno's lie in technological advances tends to promote individuality of music styles. • 21. Determinism Vs. Indeterminism And The Existence Of Free Will Though there is no singular definition of 'free will', the standard argument against it is the dilemma between determinism/indeterminism and the fact that these two concepts threaten the prospect or the existence of free will. Determinism is the basic philosophical principle that every event, including human decisions and actions, are the imminent consequence of prior events. Strict determinism would argue that free will does not exist due to the fact that our previous actions or past events, determine what our future actions will be. Thus creating the idea that a 'present free will' could not actually occur, essentially contending that human autonomy is impossible. A determinist would argue that 'free will' is essentially an illusion, arguing that preceding actions predetermine any choice we make in the future. Though determinism argues against the case of free will, it is a common misconception that most compatibilists are determinists. Though useful, determinism is somewhat unnecessary when deciding whether we act freely or not as it fails to explain why we act at will. However, the objection to free will that the deterministic approach takes is one that I will explore in this essay in regards to the different theories of compatibilism. A traditional argument of compatibilism would simply state that freedom of the will is otherwise known as the freedom to do whatever an agent would desire, without the obstruction from any exterior elements. Hobbes would argue that free ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This statement truly defines the current situation of our life. I have developed a decent interest in this topic because we are surrounded by it and the majority of people don't recognize it. There have been a lot of difficulties in understanding this topic as there are no particular theory has been given to this topic. According to Frankfurt bullshit is unavoidable at conditions in which we expect somebody to talk without recognizing what he is discussing. Therefore, the production of bullshit is based on the opportunities that an individual have to express more on a particular topic than his knowledge on the particular topic. We are going to talk about the similarities and differences between lying and bullshit. We will also discuss that which one is more harmful to the society and why, we are also going to discuss about some of the questions that are related to bullshitting in our life and discuss why we are not doing anything about it or it is just a human tendency. The researcher compared and contrasted two trip locations, with multiple variables of attendees, modes of travel, and expenses associated with each variable. Parameters of the Research The researcher used the majority of the parameters provided by the course syllabus, specifically the "Course Projects" portion of this document (Embry–Riddle, 2013). Due to these facts, the calculations for the commute and parking at the airport were not fully utilized (other than displaying them on the Excel spreadsheet). Based upon previously mentioned assumptions and variables, it would cost two colleagues each 720 minutes to drive the 840 miles roundtrip to Prague from Frankfurt (Google, 2013). Assuming that one travel day would be required to drive there, and one day to drive back, each employee would drive 360 minutes (six hours) to get to the meeting in Prague. This would cost the company $480 in wages (6 hours x $80/hour = $480) per employee, per travel day, for whomever goes to the meeting. It would also cost the company $420 to pay for mileage for each vehicle that drove to Prague for the meeting (840 miles total x $0.50/mile = $420). In addition to the $960 in travel day wages (per employee), there is also the cost of wages for the day of the actual meeting. A nine hour day (0900–1800), would cost the company $720 in wages (9 hours x $80/hour = $720) per employee who attends the meeting. Seeing as every form of transportation will get the employees to the meeting at the same time, and all employees will spend the same nine hours at the meeting, this factor is really not an issue for comparison. Bottom–line: to send two people to the meeting in Prague would cost $960 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
