PR6: Review Of Production
Whenwe firststartedthe projectwe were unsure onwhat we wantedtodo for the show but after
searchingthroughthe songsthat we likedwe decideditwouldbe funtodo a show that exploresnot
justone genre but multiplebecause itpresentsanew andfreshlookonthe radiostationgiving
themmore songsfrom more genres.
The response thatwe got on the surveysthatwe presented were
reasonable andgave usan insightonwhatpeople thinkof the type
of musicthattheylistentoand whethertheythought thatthe
choice that we made wasgood or theythoughtthat more could
have beenaddedortakenaway to make itbetterand manyof the
responsessaidthatwe couldimprove onthe speechinthe show
and we neededmore workonthe scriptthe nexttime thatwe are
doinga projectto do withrecording.
In the showI thinkthat we nailedmostof the songsand we
achieved whatwe were tryingtodoby mixingthe genresandIthink
that the way thatwe made the showmore social by havinggueston
the showand talkingabouthowmuch theylove eachgenre of
musicand that wasthe whole pointof ourradioshow,eachgenre
can be connectedinsome way bybringinglistenersof different
listenerstogethertolistentothe mix.
Howeverthere issomethingIwouldlike tochange if we diditagain
I wouldlike tofocusmore onthe presentingskillsbecause there
were partsin the showthat we needed toimprove because there
were a fewmishapsinthe speechbecause inpartswe forgotwhatwe were sayingandwe stopped
for a brief moment,soforthe nexttime we needtoreadmore of the
scriptmixedwiththe natural speechsoitcan be mixedandfluentat
the same time so itcouldsoundnatural and structuredat the same
time.
Overall Ithinkthe showwasa successbecause eventhoughwe made
a fewmistakeswiththe speechandsoundIthinkthatwe had
accomplishedeverythingthatwe setoutto do onthis projectbecause
we successfullymixedthe genresandthe response thatwe gotforthe
genresof musicthat we usedwere goodandI thinkthisis because we
wantedtomix the genresbutwe didn’twantitall to be to diverse
because we wantedacertainsetof musicto go withthe otherbut at
the same time wouldbe numericallydifferentbutnotenoughtoeffectthe fluidity of the shows
running.
The editingof the showwasreasonable consideringthatthisisthe firsttime thatI have usedthe
software,itisobviousthatI needsome more practise onthe programbut for a start I thinkthat I
JamesPearson
succeededinmakingthatshowsounda lotmore alive withthe soundbedsinthe backgroundfaintly
playingaswe talkedinbetweenthe songs.
Withthe songsthat we chose forthe show I feel likewe shouldhave addedmore heavysongstoit
because inthe showIt seemedlikeitaone of not part of the show so the nexttime we do itI think
that we shouldaddmore from the more heavygenre toget a real diverse feelforthe show andkeep
the audience exitedforwhatsongiscomingnext.
Whenwe were puttingtogetherthe plansforthis show we wantedto
knowwhattype of musiceverybodylistenedto,sowe puttogethera
surveythatindicatedwhatsortof musicthe people inthe class
listenedtoandthe genreswere veryspreadoutwhichwasshownin
the 5 resultsgraphso insteadof stickingtoone genre we decidedto
take the resultsfromthe surveyand mix the genressoeverybodywins
and that iswhenwe came up withthe ideamergingthe genresisa
goodway of reachingout to the targetaudience andisalso a goodway
of introducingotherpeople todifferentgenresandwhenitcomesto
the surveythe resultswill be more positive because theywill have
listenedtotheirfavourite musicandlistenedtoanew type of music
that theymightcome to like inthe future.
Howeverwhenwe did the final editwe couldhave editedoutmore of the sounds thatwere around
us,for example whenone of the songsendedanditwentintothe speechwe couldhearan
instrumentwhichwascomingfromanotherroomandit sort of ruinedthe speechsessionfor afew
secondsandif I was to do itagain I wouldfocusmore onthe timingof the speechand make sure
that everyunwantedsoundinthe recordingiseditedoutsowe have a smoothrunningaudiointhe
edit.
Withthe researchcame the Ideafor the musicthat we were
goingto use and we had our ownideasforthe musicand we
mixedinthe ideasgiventousby the otherpeople inthe
groupand by thenwe had the showwe wantedandall we
had to do nowwasput it together.
The final editthatwe didfor the showwas hard to put
together,because there weregapstofill inandthe way to do
that wasto selectthe lengthof the showthat youwantedto
remove anddelete itandmove the sequence closertogether,
to make the showseemmore fluent.The one thingIwould
change about thissequence editistoremove more of the gaps to make itsoundlessspreadoutand
more fluent;thisissomethingIneedtoimprove onforthe nexttime Iam editingashow.

The response thatwe got on the surveysthatwe presented were reasonable andgave usan insightonwhatpeople thinkof the type of musicthattheylistentoand whethertheythought thatthe choice that we made wasgood or theythoughtthat more could have beenaddedortakenaway to make itbetterand manyof the responsessaidthatwe couldimprove onthe speechinthe show and we neededmore workonthe scriptthe nexttime thatwe are doinga projectto do withrecording. In the showI thinkthat we nailedmostof the songsand we achieved whatwe were tryingtodoby mixingthe genresandIthink that the way thatwe made the showmore social by havinggueston the showand talkingabouthowmuch theylove eachgenre of musicand that wasthe whole pointof ourradioshow,eachgenre can be connectedinsome way bybringinglistenersof different listenerstogethertolistentothe mix. Howeverthere issomethingIwouldlike tochange if we diditagain I wouldlike tofocusmore onthe presentingskillsbecause there were partsin the showthat we needed toimprove because there were a fewmishapsinthe speechbecause inpartswe forgotwhatwe were sayingandwe stopped for a brief moment,soforthe nexttime we needtoreadmore of the scriptmixedwiththe natural speechsoitcan be mixedandfluentat the same time so itcouldsoundnatural and structuredat the same time. Overall Ithinkthe showwasa successbecause eventhoughwe made a fewmistakeswiththe speechandsoundIthinkthatwe had accomplishedeverythingthatwe setoutto do onthis projectbecause we successfullymixedthe genresandthe response thatwe gotforthe genresof musicthat we usedwere goodandI thinkthisis because we wantedtomix the genresbutwe didn’twantitall to be to diverse because we wantedacertainsetof musicto go withthe otherbut at the same time wouldbe numericallydifferentbutnotenoughtoeffectthe fluidity of the shows running. The editingof the showwasreasonable consideringthatthisisthe firsttime thatI have usedthe software,itisobviousthatI needsome more practise onthe programbut for a start I thinkthat I

Withthe songsthat we chose forthe show I feel likewe shouldhave addedmore heavysongstoit because inthe showIt seemedlikeitaone of not part of the show so the nexttime we do itI think that we shouldaddmore from the more heavygenre toget a real diverse feelforthe show andkeep the audience exitedforwhatsongiscomingnext. Whenwe were puttingtogetherthe plansforthis show we wantedto knowwhattype of musiceverybodylistenedto,sowe puttogethera surveythatindicatedwhatsortof musicthe people inthe class listenedtoandthe genreswere veryspreadoutwhichwasshownin the 5 resultsgraphso insteadof stickingtoone genre we decidedto take the resultsfromthe surveyand mix the genressoeverybodywins and that iswhenwe came up withthe ideamergingthe genresisa goodway of reachingout to the targetaudience andisalso a goodway of introducingotherpeople todifferentgenresandwhenitcomesto the surveythe resultswill be more positive because theywill have listenedtotheirfavourite musicandlistenedtoanew type of music that theymightcome to like inthe future. Howeverwhenwe did the final editwe couldhave editedoutmore of the sounds thatwere around us,for example whenone of the songsendedanditwentintothe speechwe couldhearan instrumentwhichwascomingfromanotherroomandit sort of ruinedthe speechsessionfor afew secondsandif I was to do itagain I wouldfocusmore onthe timingof the speechand make sure that everyunwantedsoundinthe recordingiseditedoutsowe have a smoothrunningaudiointhe edit. Withthe researchcame the Ideafor the musicthat we were goingto use and we had our ownideasforthe musicand we mixedinthe ideasgiventousby the otherpeople inthe groupand by thenwe had the showwe wantedandall we had to do nowwasput it together. The final editthatwe didfor the showwas hard to put together,because there weregapstofill inandthe way to do that wasto selectthe lengthof the showthat youwantedto remove anddelete itandmove the sequence closertogether, to make the showseemmore fluent.The one thingIwould change about thissequence editistoremove more of the gaps to make itsoundlessspreadoutand more fluent;thisissomethingIneedtoimprove onforthe nexttime Iam editingashow.
