1. Question 3To get feedback from audience we used many different techniques so we could
get lots of response and feedback from our audience, meaning we get lots of
different opinions. For example we took videos of us questioning the audience
about the music video we produced halfway through the music video. Then we
did a quick questionnaire about our storyline and other conventions in our music
video to see if it appealed to the targeted audience.
It was easy to ask feedback for our video because of the questionnaire, and due
to do as being in school, we were able to ask our target audience to fill out our
questionnaire. To make the questionnaire fair and reliable I asked the same ratio
of males and females, this is important because we want it to appeal both
genders.
Here are few of the questions I asked and the responses.
Did you understand the storyline,
and like the different features of the
music video?
Did you understand
the storyline, and like…
Most of the people
understood the story line, and liked
No
the different features in the music
video, and then extra comments
were made about how they liked
the elderly people taking part in the music video and this made the music
video with the other features look
„refreshing‟ „funny‟ „sweet‟ „new‟.
Yes
My feedback to the results: I am glad that majority of them understood the
storyline and liked what we featured especially the older people part,
because that took a lot of time, and work, whereas the others thought it was
good, but didn’t fully understand the storyline but liked the features.
Did you think the music and the visuals worked well together?
Lots of people agreed that it went well together, especially because of the
teens dancing, and lyrics popping up on the screen.
2. My feedback to the results: Here we were applying Andrew Goodwin theory,
and we tried to follow the conventions of rap and hip hop genre so it
appealed to our targeted audience.
Did you feel that the music video conveyed a positive message?
Majority of them said yes, because of they liked the different generations
dancing and it has a positive vibe. Here I am going to show quotes of
what the audience said about out the messages.
“The old people dancing, was really cute”
“It showed the elderly people getting all hyped to „hip hop‟ kinda song”
“There was no taboos shown in the music video”
“I liked the dance idea, and the message of how dancing makes everyone
get together”
“you‟ve challenged the convention by not having any women used as
objects”
My feedback to the results: this was important because we were trying to
challenge the old genre ‘negative’ conventions which used to send harmful,
damaging messages like seeing woman as sex object, crime, drugs etc. And
recently the music in this genre are starting use this platform to send positive
messages, for example the song ‘same love’ received song with a message
award. I am happy that the audience liked our product , and understood what we
tried to do with the music video, as this idea sets us apart from other video’s.
Digipak and the Advert:
The digipak and the advert are important as this helps to promote our music,
build star persona, so it is important that the audience get a feel of our music,
and by the album . I did a small questionnaire for this to get audience feedback
on what they thought about the digipak, and the advert.
1) Did you like the images used to portray the artist?

3. 2) Few words to describe what you think about the image of the artist we
used for the digipak?
Here are the quotes people used to describe the image of the artist:
„Slick‟, „funny‟ „cool‟ „hard‟ „nice‟ „he looks pretty‟ „smart‟ „attractive‟ „mug‟
„cheeky‟.
My feedback:
This is important for us to know how the audience see him, and this helps us to
build his star persona accordingly. The words the audience used is positive, this
shows we were successful in portraying the character well.
3) Did you like the way we used the colours and why?
Here are the quotes used:
“yea I liked it, the colours add a pop look to it”
“The colours look good, It looks really cheerful”
“I liked the colourful beat looking background it makes it look like techno
music”
“This colours work really well, and there‟s right amount used so it doesn‟t to
too much”
“the colours look sick, and goes well with the whole digipack as well as the
music video”
My feedback:
The Colours were important in our products because it is used widely and a lot.
The colours help to convey the mood, and set the scene in our products, and
there’s a consistency in our in products due to the colours, and the coloured
background.
These were just the handful of questions I asked in the questionnaire, and the
questions I’ve included were the ones I got lot of response from.
